Discrete Optimum Design of Semi-rigid Steel Frames Using Refined Plastic Hinge Analysis and Genetic Algorithm (개선소성힌지해석과 유전자 알고리즘을 이용한 반강접 강골조의 이산최적설계)

  • A GA-based optimum design algorithm and a program for plane steel frame structures with semi-rigid connections are presented. The algorithm is incorporated with the refined plastic hinge analysis method wherein geometric nonlinearity is considered by using the stability functions of beam-column members, and material nonlinearity, by using the gradual stiffness degradation model that includes the effects of residual stresses, moment redistribution through the occurrence of plastic hinges, semi-rigid connections, and geometric imperfection of members. In the genetic algorithm, the tournament selection method and micro-GAs are employed. The fitness function for the genetic algorithm is expressed as an unconstrained function composed of objective and penalty functions. The objective and penalty functions are expressed as the weight of steel frames and the constraint functions, respectively. In particular, the constraint functions fulfill the requirements of load-carrying capacity, serviceability, ductility, and construction workability. To verify the appropriateness of the present method, the optimal design results of two plane steel frames with rigid and semi-rigid connections are compared.

  • In this paper, a recognition algorithm of the straight line components of lane markings and an obstacle in the travelling lane region is proposed. This algorithm also involve the pitching error correction algorithm due to traveling vehicle's fluctuation. In order to reduce their error a practical road image modelling algorithm using V.F. model and camera calibration procedure are suggested to adapt the geometric variations. It is obtained the 3D world coordinate data by the 2D road images. In experimental test, we showed that this algorithm is available to recognize lane markings and an obstacle in the traveling lane.

A Robust Correspondence Using the Epipolar Geometry from Two Un-calibrated Images (두 장의 비교정된 영상으로부터 에피폴라 기하학을 이용한 강건한 대응점 추출)

  • This paper proposes a robust method to find corresponding points for un-calibrated stereo images by using a classical method based on the epipolar constraints and motion flows. If we detect matching for the only epipolar geometry, the problem is very high. Therefore, in order to nod an initial set of matches, we use the correlation technique and then exploit motion vectors to remove mismatches among matching candidates. Then, the epipolar geometry can be accurately estimated using a veil adapted criterion and computed the fundamental matrix. The proposed algorithm has been widely tested and works remarkably well in various scenes, evenly, with many repetitive patterns. The results show that the proposed algorithm is better than the conventional.

  • Angle concepts have a multifaceted nature such as quantitative aspects as the amount of rotation, qualitative aspects as geometric shapes, and relationship aspects made with planes or lines. This study analysed angle concepts and introduction methods of angles in elementary mathematics textbooks which have been used from the Syllabus Period to the 2015 Revised Mathematics Curriculum. First, the concepts of angles in mathematics textbooks focus through the definitions, representations, and components of angles presented in mathematics textbooks are analyzed. Secondly, how various aspects of each angle are sequenced through the tasks or activties in the introduction of lesson is looked. As a result of analysis, the methods of introducing angles in the changes of mathematics textbooks have mainly focused on learning about geometric shapes and relations of components. In the mathematics classroom, students should experience various aspects of geometric shapes, rotations, relational aspects of points, lines and surfaces, and support and link them to form a wide range of concepts.

  • This paper researches the possibility of introducing Descartes' theorem to mathematically gifted students. Not only is Descartes' theorem logically equivalent to Euler's theorem but is hierarchically connected with Gauss-Bonnet theorem which is the core concept on differential geometry. It is possible to teach mathematically gifted students Descartes' theorem by generalizing mathematical property in solid geometry through analogical reasoning, that is, so in a polyhedrons the sum of the deficient angles is $720^\circ$ as in an polygon the sum of the exterior angles is $360^\circ$. This study introduces an alternative method of instruction that we enable mathematically gifted students to reinvent Descartes' theorem through analogical reasoning instead of deductive reasoning.

International Achievement in Mathematics Content Areas Based on TIMSS 2003 (TIMSS 2003의 내용 영역별 수학 성취도 국제 비교)

  • This study presents results by the content areas in mathematics. Average performance is provided for five content areas: number, algebra, measurement, geometry, and data. Relative achievement is shown among the content areas for 4 countries in comparison to Korea. In number, Korea had lower average achievement than Singapore, especially for ratio proportion percent. Among 5 countries, Korea had the highest average achievement in algebra and geometry, but the lowest in attributes and units of measurement. In data, Korean students didn't learn the followings successfully: a) comparing characteristics of data sets and using mean, median, range, and shape of distribution, b) interpreting data sets (e.g., draw conclusions, make predictions, and estimate values between and beyond given data points), c) evaluating interpretations of data with respect to correctness and completeness of interpretation.

  • The purpose of this thesis is to analyze the error happening in the process of solving the simultaneous inequality with two unknown qualities and to propose the correct teaching method. We first introduce a problem about the simultaneous inequality with two unknown qualities. And we will see the solution which a student offers. Finally we propose the correct teaching method by analyzing the error happening in the process of solving the simultaneous inequality with two unknown qualities. The cause of the error are a wrong conception which started with the process of solving the simultaneous equality with two unknown qualities and an insufficient curriculum in connection with the simultaneous inequality with two unknown qualities. Especially we can find out the problem that the students don't look the interrelation between two valuables when they solve the simultaneous inequality with two unknown qualities. Therefore we insist that we must teach students looking the interrelation between two valuables when they solve the simultaneous inequality with two unknown qualities.

Material and Geometric Nonlinear Analysis of Plane Structure Using Co-rotational Fiber-section Beam Elements (동시회전의 화이버 단면 보 요소를 이용한 평면 구조물의 재료 및 기하 비선형 해석)

  • This paper presents a beam element capable of conducting material and geometric nonlinear analysis for applications requiring the ultimate behavioral analysis of structures with composite cross-sections. The element formulation is based on co-rotational kinematics to simulate geometrically nonlinear behaviors, and it uses the fiber section method to calculate the stiffness and internal forces of the element. The proposed element was implemented using an in-house numerical program in which an arc-length method was adopted to trace severe nonlinear responses(such as snap-through or snapback), as well as ductile behavior after the peak load. To verify the proposed method of element formulation and the accuracy of the program that was used to employ the element, several numerical studies were conducted and the results from these numerical models were compared with those of three-dimensional continuum models and previous studies, to demonstrate the accuracy and computational efficiency of the element. Additionally, by evaluating an example case of a frame structure with a composite member, the effects of differences between composite material properties such as the elastic modulus ratio and strength ratio were analyzed. It was found that increasing the elastic modulus of the external layer of a composite cross-section caused quasi-brittle behavior, while similar responses of the composite structure to those of homogeneous and linear materials were shown to increase the yield strength of the external layer.

  • This study is to analyze the geometrical composition system for the plan of S. Pietro by Michelangelo. In the result of study, the plan is based on the geometrical elements of circle square cross, and shaped to symbolize the Universe which consists of the Heaven the Earth the Man. The plan is constituted of the conception of composition into hierarchy and repetition intersecting 45 degree the same sized square with inscribed square in a circle. Such the geometrical composition system can be found out a large number of example to the geometrical composition of architecture and city planning from Vitruvius to Bramante and Da Vinci. This plan is disposed in balance as the regularly proportional system of 1:1, 1:2, 1:3, which is formed the principal space. And the interior space is constituted of the organic space system, expanding to the direction of horizontal, vertical(ascension), development for primary space and secondary space with center in the geometric composition system of altar.

A FEM analysis on the Bond Properties of High Strength Concrete (고강도콘크리트의 부착특성에 관한 유한요소해석)

  • 고강도콘크리트의 역학적 특성은 그 압축강도의 증가 이외에도 여러 가지 변화를 갖게 된다. 본 연구에서는 이와 같은 여러 특성의 변화 중 철근과의 부착특성에 관한 해석적 접근을 통하여 고강도콘크리트부재의 부착설계를 위한 이론적인 접근을 시도하였다. 해석의 변수로는 콘크리트의 압축강도, 부착길이 및 피복두께 등 3가지의 변수를 선정하였으며, 해석의 목적은 본 연구에 앞서 실시된 실험의 결과를 예측할 수 있는 단순화된 모델을 개발하고 이를 이용하여 부착실험의 결과를 해석적으로 분석하도록 하였다. 이에 따라 사용된모델은 실험에서 사용한 보단부형 부착시험체의철근과 콘크리트 부착부분의 기하학적 형상을 비교적 실제와 유사하게 모델링시킨 2차원의 평면모델을 사용하였다. 본 연구의 주요결과를 살펴보면 고강도콘크리트의 부착강도는 콘크리트의 피복두께에는 선형으로 비례하게 되나 부착길에는 비례하지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 이와 같은 결고는 기존의 실험결과와도일치하고있으며, 그 원인은 콘크리트의 강성증가에 따라 하중단측에 응력이 집중됨으로써 보통강도콘크리트의 경우와 같이 응력의 균등한 배분을 기대할 수 없기 때문으로 나타났다.
