Cyclic Seismic Performance of Reduced Beam Section Steel Moment Connections: Effects of Panel Zone Strength and Beam Web Connection (패널존 강도 및 보 웨브 접합방식이 RBS 철골 모멘트접합부의 내진거동에 미치는 영향)

  • 본 연구는 8개의 RBS (reduced beam section) 내진 철골모멘트접합부의 실물대 실험결과를 요약한 것이다. 본 실험의 주요변수는 보 웨브 접합법 및 패널존 강도를 택하였다. 균형 패널존 시험체는 접합부의 내진성능을 감소시키지 않으면서, 보와 패널존이 함께 균형적으로 지진에너지를 소산시키도록 설계하여 값비싼 패널존보강판(doubler plates)의 수요를 줄이고자 시도한 것이다. 보 웨브를 용접한 시험체는 모두 특별 연성모멘트골조에서 요구되는 접합부 회전능력을 충분히 발휘하였다. 반면 보 웨브를 볼트접합한 시험체는 조기에 스캘럽을 가로지르는 취성파단이 발생하는 열등한 성능을 보였다. 보 그루브 용접부 자체의 취성파괴가 본 연구에서와 같이 양질의 용접에 의해 방지되면, 스켈럽 부근의 취성파단이 다음에 해결해야 할 문제로 대두되는 경향을 보인다. 보 웨브를 볼팅한 경우에 접합부 취성파단의 빈도가 월등히 높은 이유를 실험 및 해석결과를 토대로 제시하였다 측정된 변형도 데이터에 의할 때, 접합부의 전단력 전달메카니즘은 흔히 가정하는 고전 휨이론에 의한 예측과 전혀 다르다. 이는 전통적 보 웨브 설계법을 재검토할 필요가 있음을 시사하는 것이다. 아울러, 본 연구의 제한된 실험자료 및 접합부에서 요구되는 바람직한 거동기준을 근거로 균형 패널존의 강도범위에 대한 예비적 추정치를 제시하였다.

  • In this paper, a new algorithm is proposed to estimate the damage size by combining the reflected area with the reflected position and extracting contours in proportion to the maximum value of pixels from the visible image. The cumulative summation feature vector algorithm is used to obtain the area of the reflected signal. To get the position of the reflected signal, the signal correlation algorithm is used to decompose the reflected signal from the damage. The proposed algorithm is tested and validated for composite panels. Repetitive experiments are performed and it is confirm that the proposed algorithm is reproducible. Further, it is verified that the damage size can be estimated appropriately by the proposed algorithm.

  • This paper describes a potential-based panel method for the prediction of steday performance of a marine propeller operating in a uniform oncoming flow. An integral equation with unknown dipole strengths is formulated by distributing the normal dipoles and/or sources on the blade and hub surfaces and the wake sheet, and is solved numerically upon discretization. A hyperboloidal panel has been adopted to compute the potential induced by a normal dipole on a non-planar quadrilateral panel. The Kutta condition is satisfied by iteratively annulling the pressure jumps at the trailing edge. Extensive convergence tests are carried out, and the influence of the wake model upon performance is studied. Predicted performance is shown to correlate well with the experiments.

Design-based Properties of Least Square Estimators in Panel Regression Model (패널회귀모형에서 회귀계수 추정량의 설계기반 성질)

  • In this paper we investigate design-based properties of both the ordinary least square estimator and the weighted least square estimator for regression coefficients in panel regression model. We derive formulas of approximate bias, variance and mean square error for the ordinary least square estimator and approximate variance for the weighted least square estimator after linearization of least square estimators. Also we compare their magnitudes each other numerically through a simulation study. We consider a three years data of Korean Welfare Panel Study as a finite population and take household income as a dependent variable and choose 7 exploratory variables related household as independent variables in panel regression model. Then we calculate approximate bias, variance, mean square error for the ordinary least square estimator and approximate variance for the weighted least square estimator based on several sample sizes from 50 to 1,000 by 50. Through the simulation study we found some tendencies as follows. First, the mean square error of the ordinary least square estimator is getting larger than the variance of the weighted least square estimator as sample sizes increase. Next, the magnitude of mean square error of the ordinary least square estimator is depending on the magnitude of the bias of the estimator, which is large when the bias is large. Finally, with regard to approximate variance, variances of the ordinary least square estimator are smaller than those of the weighted least square estimator in many cases in the simulation.

A comparative study on the confidence intervals for regression coefficients in a panel regression model (패널회귀모형에서 회귀계수의 신뢰구간에 관한 비교연구)

  • 본 논문에서는 패널회귀모형에서 내부변환(within transformation) 추정량을 이용하여 회귀계수에 대한 정확한 신뢰구간을 제시하였다. 아울러 이러한 신뢰구간의 효율성을 신뢰계수(confidence coefficient)와 신뢰구간의 평균길이(average length of confidence interval)을 사용하여 모의실험을 통하여 다른 근사적 신뢰구간들과 비교하였다. 실험결과, 내부변환추정량을 이용한 신뢰구간은 다른 근사적 신뢰구간들에 비해 명목신뢰계수를 정확히 유지하였고, 신뢰구간의 평균길이도 다른 방법들에 비해 짧은 결과를 보았다.

  • 본 연구는 서울지역 초등학교 학생 4, 5, 6학년 남 ${\cdot}$ 녀 초등학생들을 대상으로 봄철 대기오염농도와 일별 자각증상 과의 관련성에 대한 패널연구를 수행하였다. 로지회귀분석방법 중 일반화 추정 방정식(generalized estimating equations:GEE)모델을 이용하여 통계분석을 실시한 결과로는 서울지역 초등학교 학생들은 호흡기 증상보다는 피부가려움이나 눈의 따가움 등의 자극증상에 호흡성먼지(PM10)와 아황산가스 그리고 이산화질소 등의 대기오염물질 농도와 관련성이 있는 것으로 추정되었다.

  • This paper presents a method to improve lateral stability of a four-seat canard aircraft, Velocity-173. Longitudinal stability of Velocity-173 is rather good, but lateral stability is relatively poor. A small panel which increases the area of vertical tail is designed and manufactured. In a design process, AAA(Advanced Aircraft Analysis) is used to predict the change in stability. Flight test is performed to validate the effect of a small panel attached under the vertical panel. Maximum likelihood estimation method is used to extract lateral controllability / stability derivatives from flight test data. This work validates the effect of a small panel attached under the vertical tail.

An Empirical Analysis on the Employment Effect of Korean Exporting using the DPD model (동태패널모형을 활용한 수출의 고용효과 분석)

  • This paper empirically examines effects of exporting on employment over the period 2000-2007 for Korean listed and non-listed manufacturing firms. The paper employs the dynamic panel model of labor demand and controls for simultaneity of the exports and real wages using a two step random effect Tobit-DPD (Dynamic Panel Data) procedure. Our empirical results suggest that surprisingly, there is no robust evidence for employment effects of exporting of Korea's large firms and small-medium sized firms during the sample period after Korean financial crisis. This implies that Korean exporting patterns have been changed in a way that exporting highly capital intensive goods leads to importing more intermediate goods and thus to countervailing the employment effects of exporting. This suggests that expansion of exporting by lowering exporting prices through the bilateral FTA might not be helpful to enhancing employment in Korea.

  • In forensic genetics, when it is not possible to confirm an individual's identity through STR profile analysis, additional information about the individual can be obtained using DNA-based phenotypic traits estimation. Recently, various researches have been conducted on methods to determine externally visible characteristics (EVC) such as eyes, hair, and skin color. However, relying solely on such phenotypic traits information has limitations for application in East Asian regions, including Korea. In this study, in order to utilize EVC related to an individual's appearance as investigative information, SNPs related to eye shape, hair thickness, skin color, as well as baldness, body type, high myopia, facial shape, acne, and behavioral habits were explored. A total of 50 SNPs were selected, and a targeted amplicon NGS panel capable of amplifying them all at once was developed. Experimental results confirmed the allelic types and frequencies of the 50 SNPs in 14 samples. We plan to use this panel to investigate the correlation between genotype and phenotype using various samples, and to develop methods for interpreting the results.

The Analysis of the Relation between Regional Industrial Diversity and Regional Business Cycle (지역의 산업다양성과 지역경기변동의 관계 분석)

  • The purpose of this paper is to analyze the impacts of regional industrial diversity on regional business cycle response to national volatility. We employed mean group and pooled mean group estimators of panel vector error-correction models in order to control unobserved heterogeneity of the port cities, such as Pusan, Ulsan and Incheon. The results show that in various industrial regions, short-term fluctuations in the unemployment rate are small compared to other regions. On the contrary, long-term volatility of manufacturing production index is low in those regions.
