  • Public-Private-Partnership(PPP) is becoming a popular form of projects in construction industry worldwide. Normally, the management team of PPP project consists of various experts from different disciplines such as construction engineer, bank financier, contract manager, investors, etc. The diversity of team members causes difficulties in managing the team efficiently and furthermore for the smooth execution of the project itself. One of the solutions to this issue might be the application of citizenship behavior by the team members. This study conducts an empirical investigation of the effect of project citizenship behavior on the project performance. We have collected data by using a questionnaire from those with PPP project experiences in the domestic construction industry. The results show that project citizenship behavior has full mediating effects between PM's leadership and the project performance. This study has an academic significance in that it is the first attempt to apply the concept and to show the effect of citizenship behavior in project management discipline, particularly in construction industry, in Korea. We also expect that the project management teams for PPP projects would benefit from the findings of this study.

The Influential Factors to Growth Intention and Performance in Early-stage Technology-based Start-up Companies (기술창업 초기기업의 성장의도와 성과에 미치는 영향)

  • Technology-based start-ups have great economic ripple effect such as economic growth and job creation. Therefore, a strategic approach is required in order for such start-ups to continuously grow. However, many technology-based start-ups do not survive the Death-Valley and are being eliminated from the market. This is an empirical study on influencing variables that have impact on their performance. This study presents growth intention and influencing variables that have impact on performance (financial performance, technological performance) based on previous research on technology-based start-up. Also, this study examines the relationship between entrepreneurial competence, team commitment and growth intention, and finds the effect of controlling business-network. Structural equation modeling was performed in order to test the research hypothesis. Survey was conducted on the firms that have been certified by Youth Startup Academy of Small and Medium Business Corporation. A total of 306 samples were collected from the survey. An empirical test was conducted on the research hypothesis using SPSS 21.0 and Amos 22.0. The result of hypothesis test shows that growth intention has positive influence on both financial and technological performance, and entrepreneurial competence (technological competence, strategic management competence, creative competence and team commitment) has positive influence on growth intention. Also, the research proved that business-network has regulation effect between human resource trait and growth intention. The result of our study will provide practical insight to future start-ups for continuous growth and successful running of their firm.

  • In order to match the paradigm shift of a construction company for obtaining competitive edge, it is necessary to introduce newly an innovative educational method in the architectural engineering domain. The objective of this study is to adopt team-based learning, whose effectiveness have been proven in other domains, and to examine its applicability in architectural engineering education. To verify its effectiveness, a questionnaire survey of 39 attendees was conducted at the end of a term. As a result of that, academic achievement of students was higher than that of previous teaching method. In the future, team-based learning adopted in more subjects of the architectural engineering will contribute to improve the academic achievement of students by extension, to raise up the competent practitioners.

Characteristics of Stimulated Brillouin Scattering Suppression in High-power Fiber Lasers Using Temperature Gradients (온도구배에 의한 고출력 광섬유 레이저의 유도 브릴루앙 산란 억제 특성)

  • In this paper, we studied characteristics of stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) suppression in high-power fiber lasers by using apparatuses applying a temperature gradient (i.e. a step, a sine shape, and random temperature distribution) along the fiber. From the ytterbium-doped polarization-maintaining fiber master oscillator power amplifier built in house, we measured the back-reflection spectrum and power for each temperature gradient, showing that the step shape temperature distribution was the most effective way to suppress SBS. In addition, we investigated the interaction of pseudo-random binary sequence phase modulation conditions and temperature gradients for SBS suppression.

  • 지식사회, 지식경제의 등장과 더불어 기업의 자원으로서 지식(knowledge)의 중요성이 부각됨에 따라 마케팅 전략의 한 분야로서의 신제품 전략에서도 신제품 개발과정에 있어 기업(혹은 신제품 개발 팀)의 지식과 지식의 활용 능력을 어떻게 확장할 것인가가 중요한 전략적 이슈(issue)가 된다. 신제품 개발 과정에서는 필연적으로 불확실성-시장 불확실성과 기술 불확실성-이 존재하며 불확실성을 해소하기 위하여 정보와 지식의 중요성이 부각되고 기업내의 다양한 조직-특히 R&D, 생산, 마케팅-과의 지식공유·통합과정이 중요시된다. 이에 따라 본 연구는 첫째, 기업이 가지고 있는 지식을 제품으로 구체화하는 과정이 신제품 개발(New Product Development; NPD)과정이며 구체화 과정에서 개발의 효율성과 효과성을 어떻게 달성할 것인가에 관한 문제를 다루고자 한다. 둘째, 기존의 신제품 성과 요인으로 제시되고 있는 많은 요인들을 '지식역량(knowledge competence)'의 개념으로 정리하고 이러한 지식 역량과 신제품 경쟁우위 간의 인과적 관계를 살펴봄으로써 신제품 경쟁우위에 어떠한 영향을 미치는가에 대한 분석을 하고자 한다. 셋째 신제품 개발조직의 지식역량을 향상시키기 위한 전략적 방안을 제시하고자 한다. 이론적 배경으로 기업을 지식의 결집체로 인식하고 있는 지식거점관점(knowledge based perspective)과 이러한 지식자원의 활용에 초점을 맞춘 조직학습(organizational learning) 이론 그리고 심리학에서 다루고 있는 분산된 인지이론(distributed cognition theory)을 활용한다.

중수로용 개량 핵연료 개발경위와 향후전망

  • 월성 원자력발전소와 같은 중수로에 쓰이는 개량 핵연료(CANFLEX)가 새로이 개발돼, 중수로형 원자력발전소의 안전성은 물론 경제성을 크게 향상시키게 되었다. 한국원자력연구소와 캐나다원자력공사는 최근 천연 우라늄을 사용하는 개량 핵연료(CANFLEX-NU)와 순환 우라늄을 사용하는 고연소도 핵연료(CANFLEX-RU)의 공동 개발에 대한 협정을 체결하였다. 이를 통해 우리 나라는 중국$\cdot$아르헨티나$\cdot$터키 등 중수로 발전소 건설을 추진중인 제3국 핵연료 시장에 단독 진출할 수 있는 교두보를 마련하였다. 개량 핵연료를 노후되는 기존 중수로 원전에 사용할 경우 향후 10년간 약 400억 원의 비용절감효과가 예상된다. 한국원자력연구소 중수로핵연료개발팀(팀장 석호천 박사)이 캐나다원자력공사와 공동 개발한 중수로용 개량 핵연료의 개발 경위 등을 알아본다.

The Effect of Anonymity on Virtual Team Performance in Online Communities (온라인 커뮤니티 내 익명성이 가상 팀 성과에 미치는 영향)

  • One of the challenges in online community management is what level of perceived anonymity can be granted to encourage active participation from members while discouraging unhealthy activities. Few studies developed a scheme of anonymity and investigated how different levels of anonymity influence community activities. This study develops a classification scheme of anonymity encompassing the following three different levels : (1) real name(no anonymity), (2) nickname (partial anonymity), and (3) random assignment of a temporal ID (complete anonymity). Then, it examines how different levels of anonymity influence trust and perceived risk, which in turn affect virtual team performance. A series of laboratory experiments were performed, manipulating the levels of anonymity, in the context of well-structured communities that allow prior interactions among community members. The data was collected from 364 laboratory participants and analyzed using ANOVA and PLS. The results indicate that the difference of anonymity between (2) and (3) had not be significant and the only (1) could not guarantee the anonymity. The impact of anonymity on trust and perceived risk could not be significant in this situation. These findings could contribute to make more beneficial member identification strategies in online community practice.

Functional Cosmetic Effect of Sargassum Extracts (모자반추출물의 기능성 화장품소재 특성)

  • There is growing interest in natural cosmetic ingredients as natural cosmetics become popular. As a part of effort to look for natureal cosmetic agent, seaweed Sargassums were tested for functional cosmetic agents. Effective materials were extracted from Sargassum coreanum. Sargassum hemiphyllum, and Sargassum patens by simple hot water extraction. Antioxidation, whitening, anti-wrinkle, UV absorption and anti-inflammation effects were studied for functional cosmetic agents. Sargassum extracts indicated excellent cell viability, strong anti-oxidation effect by DPPH radical scavenging activity and showed significant whitening effect from tyrosinase inhibition. However, effects of antiwrinkle, UV absorption and anti-inflammation were negligible. In conclusion, Sargassum coreanum extracts showed good possibility for anti-oxidation and whitening cosmetic agent.

Effects of Analyzability, Comprehensiveness, and Flexibility on Wage (분석성, 포괄성, 유연성이 임금에 미치는 영향)

  • We measure a worker's analyzability by how correctly he grasps its causes when a problem occurs, comprehensiveness by how much he understand the overall process of his firm, and flexibility by how frequently unusual situations occur at his job. After controling firm-specific fixed of fandom effects, his age, tenure, position, and rank, the characteristics increase a worker's wage. A worker who grasps correctly the causes of problem is paid more by 5.2% than a worker who scarcely does. A worker who understands the overall process of his firm is paid more by 2.52% than a worker who understands roughly the process of his team or department. A worker whose job is mew one by one is paid more by 2.98% than a worker whose job is routine and repetitive.

Moderating Effect of Board Independency on the Relations between TMT's Characteristics and Firm's Internationalization (중국 기업 최고경영자 팀의 배경특성과 국제화 간의 관계와 이사회 독립성의 조절효과에 대한 연구)

  • This study examines the relationships between TMT's characteristics - international education background ratio, international job experience ratio, international related professionals ratio- and the degree of firm's internationalization. It also examines the moderating effect of independent board on those relationships. The results of multiple regression analysis show that the ratio of TMT's foreign job experience is positively related to firm's internationalization. On the other hand, both international education background ratio and international related professionals ratio do not significantly related to firm's internationalization. Regarding the moderating effects. independent boards weaken the positive relationship between TMT's foreign education background ratio and firm's internationalization. Whereas they strengthen the positive relationship between TMT's international education background ratio and firm's internationalization. The findings of this study imply that Chinese firms should consider the interaction effects between the TMT and board on their decisions of internationalization.
