A Study of Design Education for the Public and its Development Direction (대중의 디자인교육문제와 발전방향에 관한 연구)

  • In the past, the design education focused on the technique and skill to satisfy the production and consumption activities of a corporation based on beauty and practicality in the industrial age. Now, it's time to switchover to a life-quality enhancing education by harmonizing and meeting the public's physical and mental needs because design education is a character education which enhances the quality of life by uplifting people's aesthetic sense. This paper has emphasized on the importance of public education of design through the theoretical investigation on social environmental changes caused by the emergence of information society,,education problems, public education, and the necessity of design education. The reason why this study should be done has been suggested by investigating the necessity of this research and bringing up the issue. Furthermore, the current status and problems of public education on design have been analyzed. Then, based on the result, the development direction of design education has been suggested. This study can be concluded as follows: First, the design education should change from its vertical structure to a horizontal one. It should be widely spread to the public, getting off from its privatization for a certain group. Second, designers and the public should correct their way of thinking about design. The ordinary people as well as the designers should cultivate their capability to find and take care of design related issues in their everyday lives. Third, all people should be the subject of design education for the public. As a part of cultural education on the public's aesthetic sense, design education should be reborn as a field of study in which a sound public culture can be developed by the integration of human life and culture, exceeding the limit of school curriculum.

  • Although the EGSE (Electrical Ground Support Equipment) and MCS (Mission Control System) have many similar or even identical functions, the EGSE used for assembly, integration and validation phase and the MCS for the mission operations phase are normally developed separately and used by different groups of engineers. However, the common ground system for EGSE and MCS has developed and many space missions such as PROBA (PRoject for On-Board Autonomy), ROSETTA, MARS EXPRESS, CRYOSAT (Cryosphere Satellite), GOCE (Gravity field and steady state Ocean Circulation Explorer), and GALILEO have used or will use it to minimize risk, reduce cost and improve overall product quality. It is based on ECSS (European Cooperation for Space Standards) E70 which is the international standard for ground systems and operations published by ECSS E70 Working Group. The ECSS E70 contains the basic rules, principles and requirements applied to the engineering of the ground systems and the execution of mission operations. This paper introduces standardization policy, organization and standard documentation in ECSS. The overview of ECSS E70 such as status, purpose and contents is also described in this paper.

  • Due to high cost of domestic production structure, steep growth of China's manufacturing business, and increase in oversea's production, building integrated system to support user-centered product design system based on cognitive and affective information is required to restore development of domestic manufacturing business. This paper put purpose on analysing requirements of end users, especially on information equipment business which works as a major industry in manufacturing businesses, and planning system design direction, prior to constructing user-centered product design support system based on cognitive and affective information. Research was conducted to identify current manufacturing process, application data on manufacturing, availability of cognitive and affective information data and its method of use, and necessity of user-centered product design support system based on cognitive and affective information, by carrying out in-depth interview with 6 related manufacturing companies. Need for user's character information was deducted from the interview, especially cognitive and affective information which is demanding for small to medium manufacturing business to research on its own.

  • Transition from mass tourism to post tourism is closely related with developing various types of cultural tourism. This study attempts to construct a conceptual framework of the development of cultural tourism through identifying the existing development stages of cultural tourism sites from birth to full development. This study clarifies that there exists an organic system among tourism, cultural activities and the production of cultural artifacts. It also found that development of cultural tourism sites goes through the following three stages: positioning and building place image, hard branding, and constructing local system. This study analyzes several key elements for respective of stages, which proved helpful in understanding the development mechanism of cultural tourism sites. It also tries to analyze tourism from an integrated, geographical perspective. The analysis gives us an understanding to the relations between tourism and various aspects of regional society and economy, thus contributing to the development of a system that will lead to active interchanges among those factors. Most of the theoretical background of this study: place identity, place image, activity space, local system and network are based on the concepts and ideas of human geography.

제주 특산 향토자원을 이용한 산업화 현황

  • 제주지역은 8,000여종의 생물종다양성 자원을 가진 생물유전자원의 보고로 알려져 있으며, 종다양성자원을 활용한 산업개발 잠재력이 크다고 평가 받고 있다. 특히 아열대 생물자원에 대한 산업개발 가치는 매우 높다 할 수 있다. 현재, 제주지역 생물산업 분야 연구인력은 430여명, 연간 학 석 박사 졸업생은 600여 명으로 전문인력 배출면에서 양적으로는 풍부한 상황이며, 도내 생물산업 관련 연구기관은 45개로 양적으로는 적은 편이 아니나 질적인 측면에서는 기술혁신역량이 다소 부족 형편이다. 도내 생물산업체는 250여 개로 대부분 저부가가치 농수산물 단순가공 및 식품가공업이나, 최근에 향장품산업체를 포함하는 중견기업이 유치되고 있다. 특히, 지방산업기술 혁신을 통한 지역 산업간 기술 격차를 완화하여 광역경제권 실현을 앞당기고 지역 균형발전 및 지역경제 활성화에 기여하기 위한 사업으로 제주의 다양한 생물자원을 활용한 건강 뷰티 생물산업을 지역 특화산업으로 육성하기 위해 산업화 소재를 발굴하고 기술개발을 전담하는 연구기관이 절실하게 필요함에 따라 국가균형발전 및 지역산업기술 고도화를 위한 지식경제부의 지자체연구소육성사업계획으로 제주생물종다양성연구소가 설립되었으며, 본 연구소에서는 생물자원 정보 구축, 보존 관리 체계 확립으로 생물주권을 확보하고 1, 3차산업 중심의 산업구조를 개선 및 기업 유치 보육을 통한 건강 뷰티 생물산업 육성을 목표로 고용창출 및 균형발전에 이바지 하고 있다. 현재, 제주생물종다양성연구소는 (재)제주테크노파크 부설연구소로 통합 운영 중에 있으며, 제주 향토생물자원 산업화 거점 연구기관으로서 제주자생식물 및 잉여 농수산물을 활용한 기능성 제품 개발 지원, 향토생물자원 발굴 및 고부가가치 산업 소재화 기술개발을 통해 향토산업 육성 등 지역 경제발전에 이바지하고 있다. 이에 본 연구소에서 수행 중인 제주 특산 향토자원을 이용한 산업화 현황을 소개하고자 한다.

하이힐이 허리 근육 피로에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구

  • 연세대학교 영동세브란스 병원에서 94년 요통환자 2천4백10명을 직업별로 분류한 결과, 주부가 56%, 학생이 13.4%를 차지했다고 발표했다. 특히 주부환자비율은 85-90년에 38.9%로 조사된 것에 비하면 주목할만한 증가세를 보였다. 이러한 주부요통증가의 원인 중 임상적으로 이미 확인된 것이 하이힐에 의한 것이다. 하이힐을 신을 경우 허리에 부담을 주고 요통을 유발할 수 있다는 것이다. 그러나, 이러한 임상적 가설에 대한 구체적인 연구나 검증이 이루어진 바 없어 하이힐이 허리에 어떤 영향을 주는지에 대해 확인할 수 없었다. 따라서, 본 연구에서는 하이힐이 허리에 미치는 영향에 대한 임상적 가설을 검증하고 영향 정도에 대한 구체적 수치를 제시하고자 한다. 이를 위해 5명의 신체 건강한 20대 초반의 여성들이 모집되었고, 하이힐의 굽높이를 독립변수로, 허리 근육 피로도를 종속 변수로 설정하여 하이힐의 굽높이가 허리 근육에 미치는 영향에 대해 조사하였다. 허리 근육 피로도는 Spectral EMG를 통해 분석하였고 정량화되었다. 측정된 자료를 통계 분석한 결과, 하이힐의 굽높이가 여성의 허리 근육에 유의하게 영향을 미침이 발견되었고, 우리 나라 여성에게 적합한 하이힐의 굽높이는 3-5cm 정도임이 밝혀졌다. 본 연구 결과는 하이힐의 디자인에 있어서 굽높이에 대한 추천치로 제안될 수 있으며 여성들의 하이힐로 인한 요통을 어느 정도 예방할 수 있어 여성 근로 손실을 줄이는 데 기여할 수 있다. 본 연구를 하이힐 굽형태나 충격흡수 등의 독립변수 요인을 추가하여 확대하면 하이힐 디자인에 응용하는데 더욱 유용하리라 생각된다. 없었다. 전신쾌적감은 약간 쾌적하게 나타났고 전신온냉감은 약간 따뜻하다라고 나타났으며 손가락끝의 동통감은 약간 아프다고쪽으로 나타났다.때문에 이를 디자인에 곧바로 적용시키기 어려운 점이 있다. 이에 본 연구는 기존의 바용성 평가를 위한 분석도구들이 갖는 문제 점들 해결하여 제품의 사용자 인터페이스 디자인 개발과정에서 활용할 수 있는 평가 분석도구를 개발하는 것을 목표로 한다. 이를 위해 첫째, 다양한 유형의 정보를 포함하는 비디오 정보를 선정하였따. 둘째, 데이터를 다양한 측면에서 추출할 수 있는 Data logger를 개발하였다. 셋째, 데이터를 시각적으로 정리하고 분석할 수 있는 도구를 제안한다. 마지막으로 인터페이스 디자인에서 여러 가지 디자인안을 도출해 내는 작업에 이용할 수 있는 종합화과정을 개발한다. 이러한 일련의 과정이 통합된 컴퓨터 시스템 안에서 이루어지도록 프로그램을 개발하여 정보의 유용성을 높일 수 있도록 한다.at the entropy index as a measurement of inter-business relatedness is not significant but technological relatedness index is significant.   • In the age of digital culture, TV broadcasting is exercising more influence as a information and communication medium compared to past. With the appearance of satellite broadcasting service in 2002, the broadcasting environment became a diversified field of local TV, cable TV, satellite, internet, etc. and created the time of multi-media and multi-channel. This ongoing change of broadcasting environment made the passive audience of the past, active image makers and new accepters, participants and users of communications, who know how to choose and use media as the active centerpiece, The active acceptor as the centerpiece of channel selections has become the center of the broadcasting, whereby they pick up and enjoy their favorite TV programs and came to remember the list of their favorite channels and zap them finally. In this point of spotting their favorite channels and improving the degree of recognition for the channels, the development of the noticeable brand for a particular program has made a great contribution. The aim of this study, therefore, is to recognize the factors, which are important in the habits of watching TV and to develop professional brands for TV broadcasting programs. The range of the survey for this study was home news programs and broadcasting stations abroad, which were on air from March to May in 2004. The focus of the survey was universal and professional news programs. Through this study, it was ascertained that, in the case of news, developing a brand for an anchor as well as for a professional brand of TV program could be an important element.

  • Following the successful launch of KOMPSAT-3 in May 2012, KOMPSAT-5 in August 2013, and KOMPSAT-3A in March 2015 have succeeded in launching the integrated operation of optical, radar and thermal infrared sensors in Korea. We have established a foundation to utilize the characteristics of each sensors. In order to overcome limitations in the range of application and accuracy of the application of a single sensor, multi-sensor image fusion techniques have been developed which take advantage of multiple sensors and complement each other. In this paper, we introduce the development of software (InFusion) for multi-sensor image fusion and valued-added product generation using KOMPSAT series. First, we describe the characteristics of each sensor and the necessity of fusion software development, and describe the entire development process. It aims to increase the data utilization of KOMPSAT series and to inform the superiority of domestic software through creation of high value-added products.

  • The environment of the health food in the world has been changed very rapidly. The world market volume of functional drinks in 2012 will be estimated at $ 26.9 billion, and Asia-Pacific market is expected to be $ 13.6 billion. The domestic market volume of bottled water in 2008 was 440 billion won, and "Jeju Samdasu" sales was 89.1 billion won. But the brand of "Jeju Samdasu" has the limits. As a solution, the comprehensive advertising of the excellence quality of Jeju water is required. To increase the likelihood of success in development of functional and mixed drinks by the water is necessary to develop a global integrated brand. In developing the functional and mixed drinks by the water, we apply the functionality of the Jeju agricultural products actively, and connect Jeju Water industry with Jeju agricultural industry, which promote the overproduction control and the high value- added agricultural products.

A Framework for the Geometric Modeler with Open Architecture (개방형 형상모델러의 시스템 설계)

  • The use of CAD/CAM systems is growing fast in the shipbuilding industry. To develope a geometric modeler, the existing CAD/CAM systems have been analysed. Because existing systems have closed architectures, it is not easy to investigate the internal structures. However, new trends in the software engineering, open architectured systems, pose some possibility to develope the geometric modeler. Several geometric modelers are analysed to extract component functions and modules. ACIS of the Spatial Technology, AIS of the CAM-I consortium, the STEP part for the geometry and topology, CAD*I of the ESPRIT project, and domestic modelers are investigated. Based on this analysis, a reference model which shows the framework of the modeler is proposed. With the data structure supporting non-manifold topologies, the reference model can be used to encourage a cooperative development program.
