For this purpose, a group art therapy program was performed for 6 students of S girls' high school in S city in Chungcheongnamdo and the effects were analyzed by integrated method. The main results are as follows. First, group art therapy programs were found to positively affect the self-esteem of high school girls. Second, it showed a positive effect on school life adaptation of high school girls. However, there were some cases in which there was a significant change in self-esteem only by quantitative analysis and a change in school life adaptation only by qualitative analysis. Finally, based on this study, the policy measures to improve lowered self-esteem and low adaptation to school life of high school girls were discussed.
Rapid growth in computer and digital-based technology has brought about changes in various human services including psychotherapy. This paper will look into one of these changes, focusing on a rising area of mental health therapy : Art therapy. Although development of art therapy is not so fast compared to other branches of psychotherapy, some art therapists are studying how to adopt and use it properly. Both art therapists and mental health experts have concluded that technology is a powerful tool despite its limitations and reservations. While some of them think that patients have benefited from the implementation of technology, others have felt concerns about the replacement of basic professional practices. The use of digital technology in the area of art therapy, however, continues to increase, encouraging patients to benefit from it in various therapeutic processes. This thesis therefore focuses on the analysis of literature related to digital art therapy published up to now. The following field study on Korean art therapists aims to examine the current practice of digital art therapy and discuss its feasibility and future. These two methods will contribute to enhancing the understanding of art therapy not only in theory but in practice and also suggest how digital art therapy may overcome limitations of conventional art therapy by exploiting its advantages. Furthermore, this study will present some clues on a possible new position of digital art therapy in the future. I hope that this analytical examination on digital art therapy will stimulate further discussion on this issue and particularly encourage more interdisciplinary work between art therapy and digital technology.
This thesis in the social welfare-related institutions in the Seoul area, art therapy and the therapist based on the status of welfare-related agencies in the community of art therapy is to present possibilities and challenges. Art therapy is to conduct the current difficulties in institutions about the environmental factors related to a professional therapist and art therapist in the therapist's expansion as a major research and maintenance was network. Welfare-related agencies and community relationships we maintain mutual relationship, and are formed within the community have an effect on consciousness and collectivization. To provide the opportunity which realize the value in the art therapy by applying more to expand the variety of professional method. First, secure the facility of art therapy environment and the therapists. Second, if the art therapy association secures the integrated system, it makes a connection with professional therapists to improve recruitment environment in the art therapy community and therapists need to be addressed by all involved is a challenge. Third, a therapist for the duration of training in order to access a variety of academic and clinical research is the importance of the process of learning the training and supervision is to discuss the issue.
Since the early 20th century, along with the interest and development of alternative psychotherapy, the field of art therapy has also been developed and expanded. In particular, the recent development of technology and the untact era brought about by the COVID-19 Pandemic is accelerating the development of new digital art therapy contents. Among them, the hot interest in virtual reality is raising expectations and questions about the effectiveness of psychotherapy given by new media beyond traditional art therapy. In this study, the characteristics of VRAT (Virtual Reality Art Therapy) content therapeutic factors were investigated through qualitative literature analysis based on the conceptual framework and therapeutic components of ETC (Expressive Therapies Continumm), an integrated art therapy theory. As a result of the study, VRAT contents showed mostly therapeutic factors in the left hemisphere that triggered the user's dynamic, perceptual, and cognitive factors, and the therapeutic factors in the right hemisphere, which focused on sensory, emotional, and symbolic factors, were relatively few. The reason seems to be due to the nature of the experimental stage, the absence of active intervention by the therapist and long-term session composition, and the fear, clumsiness, and unfamiliarity of users about VRAT in addition to the characteristics and technical limitations of the VRAT medium. The limitations of the study include the small number of documents to be analyzed and the insufficient form of current VRAT to be called art therapy. It is expected that the characteristics of the therapeutic factors of VRAT content media and environment derived as a result of this study will be usefully used for the appropriate development of VRAT content in the future.
The purpose of this study is to check if group art therapy is effective in improving self esteem and self integrity of rural elderly women. Study subjects are forty seven rural elderly women in A-city who have participated in producing specialized products in their rural area. They are divided into experimental group (EG, n=25) who wish to participate in the group art therapy program, a part of the A-city sponsored program named 'Making the Rural Elderly Happy', to improve and enhance the elderly's self esteem and self integrity, and control group (CG, n=22) with no wish to participate. However, only forty four elderly women are selected as the final study subjects for data analysis, due to those who either missed the program session more than once or died of old age during the program period. The group art therapy program was given from March 16 to May 18 of 2010, every Tuesday between 1pm through 3pm for a total of 12 sessions, with the help of two college student assistants in the region and one staff member for the city program. SPSS WIN version 12.0 is adopted to evaluate and analyze the effects of the therapy program, independent t-test for equivalence check of pretests, and frequency check for general characteristics of each group. The study results are obtained by the mean and standard deviation to grasp the changes between pretest and post-test on both groups, together with ANCOVA to evaluate effects of the therapy program with the pre-test as covariant. The results are as follows. First, self esteem of EG is significantly improved than that of CG after intervention of group art therapy. Second, self integrity is significantly higher in EG than CG after the group art therapy intervention. Therefore, it can be claimed that group art therapy is effective in improving and enhancing self esteem and self integrity of the rural elderly women.
The purpose of this study is to examine how integrative art therapy affected the interaction of children with developmental disorder with their mothers from the viewpoint of object-relation theory that accentuated mother role for the promotion of mother-child interaction, and based on earlier studies on mother-child interaction and the interaction of children with developmental disorder with their mothers. The subjects in this study are five selected children and their mothers who used B and G social welfare agencies in Gyeonggi province. They are at the age of five and six in Western age, and have difficulties interacting with their parents. When a social maturity test is conducted, their social age ranged from 2.1 to 3.9, and as Portage Test is implemented, their developmental levels of sociability, cognition and language were identical to those of younger children who were at the age of one to 3.5. The major findings of the study are as follows. First, the children who suffered from developmental disorder and participated in this study showed a positive change in their interaction with their mothers. Second, as for connections between each session and mother-child interaction, most of them came to interact with their mothers better as the program came to an end.
In Korea, modern art therapy was developed in the 1960s and 1970s in the form of supplementary activities for patients in psychiatry. Along with the foundation of the Korean Association for Clinical Art in 1982 by psychiatric doctors, the therapy involved more various arts forms such as music, art, dance, poetry therapy, and psychodrama. More organizations with specific expertise opened such as the Korean Art Therapy Association, Korean Art Therapy Association, etc. in the 1990s and the Korea Arts Therapy Institute in 2001. As of April 2015, the members of the Korean Art Therapy Association total 15,000, including 6,200 regular members. The arts in integrative arts therapy (IAT) is an individual's creative activity which is related to his inner world, and the forms of IAT include music, drawing, dance and poetry therapy. From the aspect of phenomenology, IAT is psychophysical therapy involving the arts that helps patients recognize and perceive their experiences with an aim of at a recovery of the body and creativity from the phenomenological aspect. It is also a therapeutic activity that targets growth and development of the body and mind. Meta-analysis of the effects of art therapy with a focus on that involving music, drawing, dance movement and IAT in recent years in Korea, significant effects were observed in all factors but physical function. The biggest effect was mentality adaptation followed by activity adaptation and physiology. In the run up to the implementation of the daily flat-rate system for the health insurance reimbursement for palliative care in July 2015, the Ministry of Health and Welfare is reviewing the coverage of music therapy, drawing therapy and flower therapy, which are currently practiced by 56 hospice institutes in Korea. This is a meaningful step because the coverage of hospice and palliative care came after that of art therapy for psychiatric patients was approved in 1977. Still, there is a need clarify the therapeutic mechanism by exploring causality among the treatment media, mediation type and treatment effects. To address the issue of indiscriminately issued licenses, more efforts are needed to ensure expertise and identity of the licensed therapists through education, training and supervision.
This study aims not only to access the visual thought-oriented approach that has been implemented in established art therapy and education but also to integrate language education and therapeutic approach to support the development of school-age children. Thus, text mining technique was applied to search for areas where different areas of language and art can be integrated. This research was conducted in accordance with the procedure of basic research, preliminary DB construction, text screening, DB pre-processing and confirmation, stop-words removing, text mining analysis and the deduction about the convergent areas. These results demonstrated that this study draws convergence areas related to regional, communication, and learning functions, areas related to problem solving and sensory organs, areas related to art and intelligence, areas related to information and communication, areas related to home and disability, topics, conceptualization, peer-related areas, integration, reorganization, attitudes. In conclusion, this study is meaningful in that it established a framework for designing an activity-centered convergence program of art and language in the future and attempted a holistic approach to support child development.
This study is a phenomenological study on the dream insight process of intern counselors. The purpose of this study is to promote growth as a professional counselor based on the process of giving meaning to and recognizing their experiences through insight into the unconscious. Therefore, we used dream-integrated art therapy to have a process of recognizing unconscious dreams that clearly express expectations for oneself, others, and the world, and to explore this process more flexibly. The research participants selected three students enrolled in the master's and doctor's courses from among the applicants who applied through public relations and adopted the phenomenological Giorgi research method for data collection and analysis through in-depth interviews with the research participants. The main research results are as First, the intern counselors had a motive for wanting their own unconscious insight through dream-integrated art therapy and were able to gain insight into the problems revealed in their unconscious through dreams, music, and art media. Second, it was found that the intern counselors felt a deepening of concentration and comfort through recent dreams, music, and art media in common. Third, as a defense mechanism that was revealed without the combination of dream integrated art therapy, the avoidance tendency of not wanting to reveal oneself was common, but this showed a gradual decrease. Fourth, it was reported that intern counselors gained flexibility for themselves about the future growth direction had an opportunity to accept themselves, and had a plan for the future direction to become professional counselors. Therefore, it is suggested that follow-up studies using various media, studies to verify the effectiveness of the dream integration program, and various case studies are necessary.
