Objectives : The current study aimed at assessing clinical symptoms and personality characteristics on MMPI of patients in Hwa-Byung clinic. Methods : Thirty-one female patients($45.4{\pm}8.4$ years old) who visited to the Hwa-Byung Clinic in Ewha womans Dongdaemoon hospital were recruited. Semistructured interviews and laboratory tests for symptoms were performed for the patients group. Patients group and control group($42.9{\pm}8.0$ years old) completed MMPI. Results : All patients had symptoms of chest tightness or chest pain. 19(61.3%) out of 31 patients had gastrointestinal complaints. There were respiratory symptoms in 13(41.9%) patients. 12 patients(38.7%) suffered from difficulties in their sleep. 12 patients(38.7%) had psychiatric symptoms including anxiety or depressed mood. 8 patients(27.6%) were diagnosed as gastrointestinal diseases by the laboratory test. After controlling age and education, scores of Hs, D, Hy, Pt on MMPI in patients group were significantly higher than control group (p=0.001, p=0.049, p=0.000, and p=0.029, ANCOVA, respectively). Conclusion : In the current study, patients who have visited Hwa-Byung clinic showed various somatic symptoms including chest tightness, gastrointestinal symptoms, complaints in respiratory system and psychiatric symptoms. Based on laboratory tests, considerable proportion of patients was diagnosed as physical illnesses. Additionally, patients in Hwa-Byung clinic have a tendency to be more hypochondriatic, depressed, hysteric and anxious.
The advent of the $4^{th}$ industrial Revolution requires entrepreneurship to the student as one able to produce creative solutions of complex problems embedded in society with active engagement. Maker Education indicates a new educational approach in which students produce a tangible output as a concrete solution to their problems, experiencing spirits of productive failure, sharing and openness with others during the process due to its educational values and effects which are well-matched with entrepreneurship. This study, in this context, aimed to verify the effect of the maker education in the sense of cultivating entrepreneurship: For this purpose, this study conducted a case study of Maker Education to 56 university students during 7 weeks (14 hours) in K university. The results based upon data analysis collected from reflective journals and interviews showed attitude change of the students in terms of entrepreneurship characterized as self-directedness, risk-taking, and creativity. For more active practices of Maker Education in higher education, both instructors' role as the facilitator, and easily and freely accessible Maker Space should be considered.

Objectives: This study was performed to investigate the relationship between individual-level social capital and depression. Methods: Data from the 2009 Community Health Survey were analyzed for this study. We used chi-square tests and hierarchical logistic regression analyses to determine the relationship between individual-level social capital and depression. The Korean version of the Center for Epidemiological Studies-Depression Scale was used to measure depression. Results: After controlling for socio-demographic factors such as, health behavior and chronic illness morbidity, that are associated with individual-level social capital, trust and informal participation significantly affected depression. Respondents with "be trust"(0.536, 95% CI 0.419-0.685) and who participate in "informal groups"(0.657, 95% CI 0.516-0.836) had significantly lower odds ratios of depression. Conclusions: Considering and introducing measures to increase the social capital of residents, need reduce depression. It is especially necessary to enhance resident empowerment.
The purpose of this study is to examine the Korean social workers' level of social work values and advocacy(attitudes and strategies) and to verify the relations among social work education, social work advocacy and social work values by examining whether social work education influences social work advocacy and social work values, and whether social work values affect social work advocacy. Further, this study wishes to confirm not only the direct effect that social work education has on social work advocacy, but also how social work education indirectly influences social work advocacy through social work values as a mediator. The research of this study was conducted on 242 social workers who have obtained social worker licenses and are currently working in the community centers. As survey tools, this study utilized social work advocacy attitudes, social work advocacy strategies, outcomes of social work education, social work values, self-esteem and locus of control. Collected data were analyzed by using SPSS/PC+ 12.0 for descriptive analysis, Pearson's correlation, reliability analysis, exploratory factor analysis and multiple regression. The research hypothesis was established according to the analysis method of the testing mediation of Baron & Kenny (1986) in order to examine whether social work values intervene between social work education and social work advocacy. The results of the hypothesis test confirm that social work values on the social level serve as a mediator variable.
The purpose of this study is to systemize volunteer program for the people with chronic mental health problems to participate in helping the community as service providers not receivers, and then to examine empowerment effects of this volunteer program. The distinctive feature of this program was to volunteer the mental ill to help other people. Therefore, this volunteer program had specially strengthened preliminary stage which make not only the mental ill be ready to work but also the community to use them as volunteer, and to invite general citizen of the community as co-volunteers. The result showed this program empowered the mental disorders to have more positive self-concept. It revealed that co-volunteer's attitude toward the mental disorders was changed positively through this program, also. These results told us not only the chronic mental ill could be volunteers helping others using their abilities, but also this activity would make their self-image better and citizen's perception toward mental disorder less prejudiced. The volunteer program presented in this paper was expected to be useful for their empowerment and social integration.
This study investigated subtypes of men who batter, and explored the differences among them. It was based on 217 subjects from all around the nation who received legal punishment. In the analysis of the typology, we specifically tested whether the Holtzworth-Munroe and Stuart proposed typology was verified. The results of the cluster analysis revealed support for their theoretical distinction for three types of abusers. These results imply that Holtzworth-Munroe and Stuart's batterer typology is applicable to Korean batterers to some degree. Type 1 men demonstrated the lowest levels of physical and psychological abuse toward their wives and were the least likely to have had a history of child abuse or alcohol problems. These men had lower MCMI scores and did not show any extraordinary personality traits. Men in this category were violent only against their wives, had relatively liberal sex role attitudes and had the most satisfaction in their intimate relationships. Type 2 men were violent only at home, using a moderate level of violence. These men had very high levels of dependency on others and showed a borderline, avoident or passive-aggressive personality. The amount of alcohol consumption was similar to Type 1, but scores of jealousy, self-esteem, and attitudinal variables were similar to Type 3 men. They lacked assertiveness skills and reported the least marital satisfaction. Type 3 men used the most severe violence and were violent both inside and outside the home. These men showed signs of antisocial and aggressive personality. They had experienced frequent physical abuse during childhood, were the most likely to abuse alcohol and had lower self-control. Type 3 were the most traditional in their views of women's roles and had attitudes supporting violence. Based upon the study findings, practical implications of enhancing treatment efficacy were considered.

This paper considers some kinds of socio-spatial constraints and strategies for overcoming them which immigrant workers in Korea have experienced in their work-place and life-space, with an analysis of questionnaire data and of direct interview materials on them. Though they appear somewhat satisfactory or positive with their work-place, this can be seen as a hypocritical or false attitude rather than a real one: they are forced to work with long hours (more than 70 hours per week) and rigid controls in the other' territory. Their daily life-spaces also are severe: they can be hardly embedded in an existing community with a sense of place due to serious institutional and interaction constraints, even though they seem to have a basic mobility to survive in life-spaces. In order to escape or alleviate such local constraints, they try to constitute multi-scalar (local, trans-regional, and transnational) networks, and to find informations and means to resolve or cope with them. However, this kind of endeavors of immigrant workers to make a trans-national network and social space has a limitation for them to be free entirely from constraints, which might be strengthened with a lack of geographical knowledge of them. Then immigrant workers in Korea live ineluctably with not only hybrid national identity but also with disturbed local identity in an aliened workplace and life-spaces.
The goal of this study was to investigate the differences in the effect of feedback from different providers on elementary school students' science achievement and to examine the responses of the students regarding the feedback. Three 6th grade classes were chosen to be assigned as experimental group 1, experimental group 2, and control group, respectively. In experimental group 1, the teacher provided feedback with students concerning the formative evaluations which were conducted periodically. Experimental group 2 was the one in which students were organized into small groups to compose and exchange feedback with one another. No feedback was of offered to students in the control group. The results of the science achievement test indicated ,that the provision of feedback by the teacher resulted in more gains in student academic achievement. The interviews with students revealed that the learners made positive responses to the feedback provided by the teacher while they showed negative attitudes toward the feedback exchange among students. There were also differences in student responses to feedback between high and low achievers in science. Implications for science lessons and science education research were presented and discussed.

This study examined the relationships among halitosis, stress and psychological status using a cross-sectional survey of 3,689 adolescents (1,805 male 1,884 female) from the 2010 Korean Survey on the Health of Youth and Children. The related factors of halitosis were checked and the path model was also examined using AMOS 19.0 programs. The prevalence of halitosis was 27.4%. Based on path analysis, the significant coefficients paths were as follows: $halitosis{\rightarrow}stress$, $halitosis{\rightarrow}depression$, $halitosis{\rightarrow}anxiety$, $halitosis{\rightarrow}tension$, $halitosis{\rightarrow}hostility$. Halitosis had an indirect effect on the psychological status linked to depression, anxiety, tension, and hostility via stress. Overall, the results provide stronger support for the halitosis impact of stress and psychological health. Moreover, the effective prevention of halitosis may be important for understanding the specific psychological factors.
Science gifted students enrolled in a program, where classes had either explicit or implicit instruction about self-directed learning, were asked to write what was satisfying after each class. This process was part of the evaluation of the program. Students' descriptions related to self-directed learning are compared in these two classes, one with explicit instruction and the other with implicit instruction. First, most of the components related to self-directed learning, which were reported in the previous research articles, were mentioned in students evaluation. If there was any specific description regarding what was satisfying, there were components of self-directed learning. Students descriptions were consistent with list of self-directed learning components, which was constructed based on the previous research. Therefore it may be concluded that students recognized most of the reported self-directed learning components and satisfied with them. Second, There were differences in the evaluation of two types of classes. The evaluation of class with explicit instruction contained more self-directed learning components more frequently. For example, students worked in small groups in both classes. However more students mentioned small groups in classes with explicit instruction. As a result the explicit instruction appears to be more effective for students to recognize the self-directed learning components. However some of the components mentioned in classes with implicit instruction were not mentioned in the classes with explicit instruction. Therefore classes with explicit and implicit instructions are complimentary with each other and both instructions are necessary.
