LDA Topic Modeling and Recommendation of Similar Patent Document Using Word2vec (LDA 토픽 모델링과 Word2vec을 활용한 유사 특허문서 추천연구)

  • With the start of the fourth industrial revolution era, technologies of various fields are merged and new types of technologies and products are being developed. In addition, the importance of the registration of intellectual property rights and patent registration to gain market dominance of them is increasing in oversea as well as in domestic. Accordingly, the number of patents to be processed per examiner is increasing every year, so time and cost for prior art research are increasing. Therefore, a number of researches have been carried out to reduce examination time and cost for patent-pending technology. This paper proposes a method to calculate the degree of similarity among patent documents of the same priority claim when a plurality of patent rights priority claims are filed and to provide them to the examiner and the patent applicant. To this end, we preprocessed the data of the existing irregular patent documents, used Word2vec to obtain similarity between patent documents, and then proposed recommendation model that recommends a similar patent document in descending order of score. This makes it possible to promptly refer to the examination history of patent documents judged to be similar at the time of examination by the examiner, thereby reducing the burden of work and enabling efficient search in the applicant's prior art research. We expect it will contribute greatly.

What Concerns Does ChatGPT Raise for Us?: An Analysis Centered on CTM (Correlated Topic Modeling) of YouTube Video News Comments (ChatGPT는 우리에게 어떤 우려를 초래하는가?: 유튜브 영상 뉴스 댓글의 CTM(Correlated Topic Modeling) 분석을 중심으로)

  • This study aimed to examine public concerns in South Korea considering the country's unique context, triggered by the advent of generative artificial intelligence such as ChatGPT. To achieve this, comments from 102 YouTube video news related to ethical issues were collected using a Python scraper, and morphological analysis and preprocessing were carried out using Textom on 15,735 comments. These comments were then analyzed using a Correlated Topic Model (CTM). The analysis identified six primary topics within the comments: "Legal and Ethical Considerations"; "Intellectual Property and Technology"; "Technological Advancement and the Future of Humanity"; "Potential of AI in Information Processing"; "Emotional Intelligence and Ethical Regulations in AI"; and "Human Imitation."Structuring these topics based on a correlation coefficient value of over 10% revealed 3 main categories: "Legal and Ethical Considerations"; "Issues Related to Data Generation by ChatGPT (Intellectual Property and Technology, Potential of AI in Information Processing, and Human Imitation)"; and "Fear for the Future of Humanity (Technological Advancement and the Future of Humanity, Emotional Intelligence, and Ethical Regulations in AI)."The study confirmed the coexistence of various concerns along with the growing interest in generative AI like ChatGPT, including worries specific to the historical and social context of South Korea. These findings suggest the need for national-level efforts to ensure data fairness.

  • In the past decade, various search engines have been developed to retrieve web pages that web surfers want to find from world wide web. In search engines, one of the most important functions is to evaluate and rank web pages for a given web surfer query. The prior algorithms using hyperlink information like PageRank incur the problem of 'topic drift'. To solve the problem, relevance propagation models have been proposed. However, these models suffer from serious performance degradation, and thus cannot be employed in real search engines. In this paper, we propose a new ranking algorithm that alleviates the topic drift problem and also provides efficient performance. Through a variety of experiments, we verify the superiority of the proposed algorithm over prior ones.

  • Since the Fourth Industrial Revolution, various changes have occurred in society as a whole due to advance in technologies such as artificial intelligence and big data. The amount of data that can be collect in the process of applying important technologies tends to increase rapidly. Especially in academia, existing generated literature data is analyzed in order to grasp research trends, and analysis of these literature organizes the research flow and organizes some research methodologies and themes, or by grasping the subjects that are currently being talked about in academia, we are making a lot of contributions to setting the direction of future research. However, it is difficult to access whether data collection is necessary for the analysis of document data without the expertise of ordinary programs. In this paper, propose a text mining-based topic modeling Web application model. Even if you lack specialized knowledge about data analysis methods through the proposed model, you can perform various tasks such as collecting, storing, and text-analyzing research papers, and researchers can analyze previous research and research trends. It is expect that the time and effort required for data analysis can be reduce order to understand.

Analysis of Research Trends in Tax Compliance using Topic Modeling (토픽모델링을 활용한 조세순응 연구 동향 분석)

  • In this study, domestic academic journal papers on tax compliance, tax consciousness, and faithful tax payment (hereinafter referred to as "tax compliance") were comprehensively analyzed from an interdisciplinary perspective as a representative research topic in the field of tax science. To achieve the research purpose, topic modeling technique was applied as part of text mining. In the flow of data collection-keyword preprocessing-topic model analysis, potential research topics were presented from tax compliance related keywords registered by the researcher in a total of 347 papers. The results of this study can be summarized as follows. First, in the keyword analysis, keywords such as tax investigation, tax avoidance, and honest tax reporting system were included in the top 5 keywords based on simple term-frequency, and in the TF-IDF value considering the relative importance of keywords, they were also included in the top 5 keywords. On the other hand, the keyword, tax evasion, was included in the top keyword based on the TF-IDF value, whereas it was not highlighted in the simple term-frequency. Second, eight potential research topics were derived through topic modeling. The topics covered are (1) tax fairness and suppression of tax offenses, (2) the ideology of the tax law and the validity of tax policies, (3) the principle of substance over form and guarantee of tax receivables (4) tax compliance costs and tax administration services, (5) the tax returns self- assessment system and tax experts, (6) tax climate and strategic tax behavior, (7) multifaceted tax behavior and differential compliance intentions, (8) tax information system and tax resource management. The research comprehensively looked at the various perspectives on the tax compliance from an interdisciplinary perspective, thereby comprehensively grasping past research trends on tax compliance and suggesting the direction of future research.

Metaverse Augmented Reality Research Trends Using Topic Modeling Methodology (토픽 모델링 기법을 활용한 메타버스 증강현실 연구 동향 분석)

  • The non-face-to-face environment accelerated by COVID-19 has speeded up the dissemination of digital virtual ecosystems and metaverse. In order for the metaverse to be sustainable, digital twins that are compatible with the real world are key, and critical technology for that is AR (Augmented Reality). In this study, we examined research trends about AR, and will propose the directions for future AR research. We conducted LDA based topic modeling on 11,049 abstracts of published domestic and foreign AR related papers from 2009 to Mar 2022, and then looked into AR that was comprehensive research trends, comparison of domestic and foreign research trends, and research trends before and after the popularity of metaverse concepts. As a result, the topics of AR related research were deduced from 11 topics such as device, network communication, surgery, digital twin, education, serious game, camera/vision, color application, therapy, location accuracy, and interface design. After popularity of metaverse, 6 topics were deduced such as camera/vision, training, digital twin, surgical/surgical, interaction performance, and network communication. We will expect, through this study, to encourage active research on metaverse AR with convergent characteristics in multidisciplinary fields and contribute to giving useful implications to practitioners.

Wireless Earphone Consumers Using LDA Topic Modeling Comparative Analysis of Purchase Intention and Satisfaction: Focused on Samsung and Apple wireless earphone reviews in Coupang (LDA 토픽 모델링을 활용한 무선이어폰 소비자 구매 의도 및 만족도 비교 분석: 쿠팡에서의 삼성과 애플 무선이어폰 리뷰를 중심으로)

  • Consumer review analysis is important for product development, customer satisfaction, competitive advantage, and effective marketing. Increased use of wireless earphones is expected to reach $45.7 billion by 2026 with growth in lifestyle. Therefore, in consideration of the growth and importance of the market, consumer reviews of wireless earphones from Apple and Samsung were analyzed. In this study, 11,320 wireless earphone reviews from Apple and Samsung sold on Coupang were collected to analyze consumers' purchase intentions and analyze consumer satisfaction through analysis of the frequency, sensitivity, and LDA topic model of text mining. As a result of topic modeling, 16 topics were derived and classified into sound quality, connection, shopping mall service, purchase intention, battery, delivery, and price. As a result of brand comparison, Samsung purchased a lot for gift purposes, had a high positive sentiment for price, and Apple had a high positive sentiment for battery, sound quality, connection, service, and delivery. The results of this study can be used as data for related industries as a result of research that can obtain improvements and insights on customer satisfaction, quality and market trends, including manufacturing, retail, marketers, and consumers.

User Experience Evaluation of Menstrual Cycle Measurement Application Using Text Mining Analysis Techniques (텍스트 마이닝 분석 기법을 활용한 월경주기측정 애플리케이션 사용자 경험 평가)

  • This study conducted user experience evaluation by introducing various text mining techniques along with topic modeling techniques for mobile menstrual cycle measurement applications that are closely related to women's health and analyzed the results by combining them with a honeycomb model. To evaluate the user experience revealed in the menstrual cycle measurement application review, 47,117 Korean reviews of the menstrual cycle measurement application were collected. Topic modeling analysis was conducted to confirm the overall discourse on the user experience revealed in the review, and text network analysis was conducted to confirm the specific experience of each topic. In addition, sentimental analysis was conducted to understand the emotional experience of users. Based on this, the development strategy of the menstrual cycle measurement application was presented in terms of accuracy, design, monitoring, data management, and user management. As a result of the study, it was confirmed that the accuracy and monitoring function of the menstrual cycle measurement of the application should be improved, and it was observed that various design attempts were required. In addition, the necessity of supplementing personal information and the user's biometric data management method was also confirmed. By exploring the user experience (UX) of the menstrual cycle measurement application in-depth, this study revealed various factors experienced by users and suggested practical improvements to provide a better experience. It is also significant in that it presents a methodology by combines topic modeling and text network analysis techniques so that researchers can closely grasp vast amounts of review data in the process of evaluating user experiences.

A Proposal of a Keyword Extraction System for Detecting Social Issues (사회문제 해결형 기술수요 발굴을 위한 키워드 추출 시스템 제안)

  • To discover significant social issues such as unemployment, economy crisis, social welfare etc. that are urgent issues to be solved in a modern society, in the existing approach, researchers usually collect opinions from professional experts and scholars through either online or offline surveys. However, such a method does not seem to be effective from time to time. As usual, due to the problem of expense, a large number of survey replies are seldom gathered. In some cases, it is also hard to find out professional persons dealing with specific social issues. Thus, the sample set is often small and may have some bias. Furthermore, regarding a social issue, several experts may make totally different conclusions because each expert has his subjective point of view and different background. In this case, it is considerably hard to figure out what current social issues are and which social issues are really important. To surmount the shortcomings of the current approach, in this paper, we develop a prototype system that semi-automatically detects social issue keywords representing social issues and problems from about 1.3 million news articles issued by about 10 major domestic presses in Korea from June 2009 until July 2012. Our proposed system consists of (1) collecting and extracting texts from the collected news articles, (2) identifying only news articles related to social issues, (3) analyzing the lexical items of Korean sentences, (4) finding a set of topics regarding social keywords over time based on probabilistic topic modeling, (5) matching relevant paragraphs to a given topic, and (6) visualizing social keywords for easy understanding. In particular, we propose a novel matching algorithm relying on generative models. The goal of our proposed matching algorithm is to best match paragraphs to each topic. Technically, using a topic model such as Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA), we can obtain a set of topics, each of which has relevant terms and their probability values. In our problem, given a set of text documents (e.g., news articles), LDA shows a set of topic clusters, and then each topic cluster is labeled by human annotators, where each topic label stands for a social keyword. For example, suppose there is a topic (e.g., Topic1 = {(unemployment, 0.4), (layoff, 0.3), (business, 0.3)}) and then a human annotator labels "Unemployment Problem" on Topic1. In this example, it is non-trivial to understand what happened to the unemployment problem in our society. In other words, taking a look at only social keywords, we have no idea of the detailed events occurring in our society. To tackle this matter, we develop the matching algorithm that computes the probability value of a paragraph given a topic, relying on (i) topic terms and (ii) their probability values. For instance, given a set of text documents, we segment each text document to paragraphs. In the meantime, using LDA, we can extract a set of topics from the text documents. Based on our matching process, each paragraph is assigned to a topic, indicating that the paragraph best matches the topic. Finally, each topic has several best matched paragraphs. Furthermore, assuming there are a topic (e.g., Unemployment Problem) and the best matched paragraph (e.g., Up to 300 workers lost their jobs in XXX company at Seoul). In this case, we can grasp the detailed information of the social keyword such as "300 workers", "unemployment", "XXX company", and "Seoul". In addition, our system visualizes social keywords over time. Therefore, through our matching process and keyword visualization, most researchers will be able to detect social issues easily and quickly. Through this prototype system, we have detected various social issues appearing in our society and also showed effectiveness of our proposed methods according to our experimental results.   • Future automobiles are evolving into movable living spaces capable of eco-friendly autonomous driving. The role of electrically processing, controlling, and commanding various information in the vehicle is essential. It is expected that the automotive semiconductor will play a key role in the future automobile such as self-driving and eco-friendly automobile. In order to foster the automotive semiconductor industry, it is necessary to grasp technology trends and to acquire technology and quality that reflects the requirements in advance, thereby achieving technological innovation with industrial competitiveness. However, there is a lack of systematic analysis of technology trends to date. In this study, we analyzed the technology trends of automotive semiconductors using patent analysis and topic model, and confirmed technologies such as electric cars, driving assistance, and digital manufacturing. The technology trends showed that element technology and technical characteristics change according to technology convergence, market needs, and government regulations. Through this research, it is expected that it will help to make R&D policy for automotive semiconductor industry and to make decision for industrial technology strategy establishment. In addition, it is expected that it will be used effectively in detail research direction and patent strategy establishment by providing detailed classification of technology and trend analysis result of technology.
