Analysis of Speed Ripple Reduction Methods for Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor with Eccentric-weight Load (AC 부하를 갖는 동기전동기의 고정도 속도제어기법 분석)

  • AC 부하를 갖는 동기전동기에 있어서, 동기전동기의 속도리플을 저감시키기 위한 문제를 풀기위해 3가지 제어기법에 대해 비교를 한 후 가장 강인한 제어기법에 대해 분석하였다. AC 부하를 갖는 특별한 제어 대상으로 엑스선 전산화 단층촬영 장치(CT)용 겐트리를 선정하였으며 시스템이 갖는 특별한 구조에 의해 이러한 시스템 특성을 갖는다. 동기전동기의 출력 축에 링(Fing) 모양의 원판 프레임을 갖으며, 이 원판 표면에 무게가 서로 다른 여러 장치(X_선 튜브, X-선 검출기, 고압발생장치, DAS 장치, 온도조절장치 등)를 부착하여 영상 획득 시스템의 회전부를 구축하기 때문이다. 이러한 시스템에서는 무게 평형을 갖지 못하는 편심 무게가 존재하게 되며 이로써 전동기 관점에서는 AC 부하처럼 인식되는 제어 조건으로 인식 될 수 있다. AC 부하를 갖는 동기전동기에 대해 일반적인 벡터제어 알고리즘으로 제어를 수행하면 정상상태에서도 속도 오차가 "0" 으로 줄어들지 않고 AC 형태의 오차 성분이 존재하며 편심 무게의 크기에 비례하여 진폭이 커지는 특성을 갖는다. 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위하여 Sine파 보상전류를 갖는 속도제어기법, 펀심부하토크 관측기를 이용한 속도제어기법, 그리고 기준모델제어기법을 소개하였다. 각 방법에 대한 실험 결과로부터 편심무게의 변동과 편심 위치의 변동 조건에서 기준모델제어기법이 강인한 제어 특성과 리플저감 측면에서 가장 우수함을 검증하였다. 이로써 AC 부하 조건에서 고정도 속도 제어기가 요구되는 경우 좋은 선택의 지침이 될 수 있다고 본다.

Effect of the Number of Slots on the Acoustic Noise from BLDC Motors (BLDC 전동기의 슬롯수가 소음에 미치는 영향)

  • The goal of this study is to examine the effect of the number of slots on the noise from BLDC motors. To this end, the number of poles was fixed to 4 and the number of the slots was set to 6 or 24 before noise was measured. Motors having different numbers of slots showed clear differences in noise. Cogging torque, torque ripple and normal local force were interpreted, analyzed and compared to determine the reason for the differences. To determine the cause of the noise, cogging torque, torque ripple and normal local force were calculated, which are representative noise sources of BLDC motors, and FFT was performed to analyze their frequency components(harmonics). The results show that torque ripple and normal local force were the dominant factors in the noise difference between the 6-slot and 24-pole motors. As the number of the slots increased, the number of harmonics decreased and their amplitude of harmonic were reduced, which was attributed as the reason for the noise differences.

Torque Ripple Reduction based on Flux Linkage Harmonics Observer for an Interior PM Synchronous Motor including Back EMF Harmonics (왜곡된 역기전력을 갖는 매입형 영구자석 동기전동기의 쇄교자속 고조파 관측기를 이용한 토크리플 저감)

  • The mechanical vibration of a PM synchronous motor at low speeds due to the back emf harmonics may be serious problems in some application such as MDPS(Motor driven power steering), electric vehicles. In this paper, torque ripple reduction for an interior PM synchronous motor including back emf harmonics is proposed. The dq flux linkage harmonics of the permanent magnet are estimated on real time by using the dq currents of the real system and the model of the MRAS observer. Based on the estimated flux linkage harmonics, the dq harmonic currents for reducing the torque ripples are compensated on the dq reference currents. The estimation of the flux linkage harmonics by the MRAS observer and the torque ripple reduction of the proposed algorithm was verified by the simulation and experiment.

  • 고온 초전도 전력기기는 상전도 전력기기에 비해, 중량과 부피가 작고 전력손실이 거의 없어 효율이 높고 대용량기기에 많은 장점을 지니고 있으며 또한 환경 친화적이다. 대형화가 요구되는 선박추진용 모터를 초전도 모터로 사용할 경우 저속 및 고 토크의 모터를 제작할 수 있고, 계자 권선과 전기자 권선을 초전도 선재로 사용함으로써 높은 전류밀도와 고 자장이 가능하여 고효율 및 소형 경량화 등의 장점이 있다. 그러나 전초전도 모터의 경우 얇은 테이프 형태의 초전도 선재의 특성으로 인해 구리선처럼 가공이 힘들고, 선재를 초전도 상태로 만들기 위한 냉각이 필요하다. 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위하여 본 연구에서는 동기모터와 선형모터를 혼합하여 고정자에 위치한 racetrack type의 전기자 권선뿐만아니라 회전자에 자기장을 발생시키는 계자 권선도 회전자가 아니라 고정자부분에 위치하므로 구조상 견고하고 냉각등에 장점이 있는 호모폴라 모터를 제안하였으며 자기저항의 변화가 작은 구조로 토크 리플이 작으므로 소음과 진동이 적은 모터를 설계하였다. 설계 결과로부터 호모폴라 모터를 제작하였으며 레이스트렉형과 팬케이크 권선의 임계전류등을 측정하였다. 추후 호모폴라 모터의 성능시험을 진행할 예정이다.

Online Load Torque Ripple Compensator for Single Rolling Piston Compressor (싱글 로터리 컴프레셔의 온라인 부하 토크리플 보상기)

  • Given their low cost, single rolling piston compressors (SRPC) are utilized in low-power room air-conditioning systems. The SRPC cycle is composed of one compression and discharge process per mechanical rotation. The load torque is high during the compression process of the refrigerants and low during the discharge process of the refrigerants. This load torque variation induces a speed ripple and severe vibration, which cause fatigue failures in the pipes and compressor parts, particularly under low-speed conditions. To reduce the vibration, the compressor usually operates at a high-speed range, where the rotor and piston inertia reduce the vibration. At a low speed, a predefined feed-forward load torque compensator is used to minimize the speed ripple and vibration. However, given that the load torque varies with temperature, pressure, and speed, a predefined load torque table based on one operating condition is not appropriate. This study proposes an online load torque compensator for SRPC. The proposed method utilizes the speed ripple as a load torque ripple factor. The speed ripple is transformed into a frequency domain and compensates each frequency harmonic term in an independent feed-forward manner. Experimental results are presented to verify the proposed method.

Multiobjective Optimal Double-Layer PM Rotor Structure Design of IPMSM by Response Surface Method and Finite Element Method (반응표면법을 이용한 매입형 영구자석 동기전동기의 이층 영구자석 회전자 구조 다목적 최적 설계)

  • In general, a design method based on the equivalent magnetic circuit has been used for basic design of Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor(IPMSM). However, the equivalent magnetic circuit method has difficulty in considering the arrangement of PM. IPMSM has high degree of freedom for PM rotor design. In this paper, we proposed the multiobjective optimal design method considering the arrangement of PM for the double-layer PM rotor structure that minimizes the torque ripple as well as maximizes the torque of IPMSM. The design variables of double-layer PM rotor structure are obtained from the Response Surface Method. Torque and torque ripple were calculated by Finite Element Method.

  • In this paper, a new torque predictive control method of interior permanent magnet synchronous motor is developed based on an extended rotor flux. Also, a duty ratio prediction method is proposed and allows the duty ratio of the active stator voltage vector to be continuously calculated. The proposed method makes it possible to relatively reduce the torque ripple under the steady state as well as to remain the good dynamic response in the transient state. With the duty ratio prediction method, the magnitude and time interval of the active stator voltage vector applied can be continuously controlled against the varying operation conditions. This paper shows a comparative study among the switching table direct torque control(DTC), the SVM-DTC, conventional torque predictive control, and the proposed torque predictive control. Simulation results show validity and effectiveness of this work.

  • A Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) for an electrical power steering system (EPS) is adopting various dual three-phase type stator windings to get the high fault tolerance capability when the motor runs at the failure condition. In this paper, we analyze the effects of stator winding arrangements on the characteristics such as torque and efficiency of the PMSM with leading and lagging current angle variations using finite element method. As a result, the most valuable design criteria are proposed to select stator winding method. Especially, we suggest the most appropriate winding method in terms of torque and efficiency, extending constant output area and decreasing noise and torque ripples.

  • A 12/14 bearingless switched reluctance motor (BLSRM) with hybrid stator poles has been proposed due to the outstanding decoupling characteristics between the torque and suspending force. However, the motor is a two-phase motor. The output torque of the motor has torque dead zone and high torque ripple. Hence, the motor cannot self-start at some rotor positions. To solve the self-starting problems and reduce the torque ripple, a stepped rotor is proposed in this paper. Then, the motor with the stepped rotor is optimally designed. In the new designed motor, the majority parameters are kept the same with those of original motor; only the torque pole arc and rotor pole shape are optimally designed. The characteristics of the redesigned motor, such as inductance, torque and suspending force, are analyzed and compared with those in the original motor. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed method is verified by the simulation results.

  • A torque ripple minimization technique is proposed for high power induction motors driven by 3-level inverters with switching frequency of inverter switching elements limited around 500Hz level. It is noted that conventional DTC algorithms with torque ripple minimization scheme are devised for applications with relatively high switching frequency above 2-3kHz. A new DTC algorithm, especially for low switching frequency inverter system, illustrates relatively reduced torque ripple characteristics all over the operating speed region. Simulation results show effectiveness of the proposed control algorithm, and associated experimental works will be presented in the final paper.
