A Study of Alkali Metal Vapor Adsorption Behavior by Using Pressurized Reactor (가압반응기를 이용한 알칼리금속증기 흡착특성에 관한 연구)

  • Alkali metal compounds existed in original coal or sorbents are exhausted as vapor or small particle at the outlet of combustor when operating PFBC power plant. These compounds can be removed with dust removal equipment, but total generation efficiency will be decreased because of lower operating temperature of dust removal equipment. Alkali metal contained in vapor phase is initially deposited onto turbine blade results in serious corrosion. The concentration of alkali vapor in the PFBC flue gas is 20∼40 ppm which is dependent on mineral characteristics and composition as well as operating condition of PFBC. However, the allowance limit of alkali metal vapor is assigned as less than 50 ppb for gas turbine when coal or oil is used as fuel. Therefore, alkali metal vapor in PFBC or IGCC process should be removed by solid sorbents to prevent corrosion of turbine blade and improve plant efficiency. In the present investigation, powder of Bauxite, Kaolinite and Limestone is used in the preparation of cylinder-type pellet which is inserted into the pressurized alkali removal reactor for the alkali absorption experiment. Experimental results showed that the alkali removal efficiency in the order of Bauxite, Kaolinite and Limestone. Alkali vapor removal efficiency is related with reaction temperature, porosity of pellet and alkali vapor concentration of flue gas.

Voltage Control of Power System Connected to a Wind Farm by Using STATCOM and Reactive Power Compensators (STATCOM과 조상설비를 이용한 풍력단지가 연계된 전력계통의 전압제어)

  • The wind power plant must be able to produce reactive power at the POI bus of a wind farm connected to power system to keep or control the voltage of POI bus. But, the reactive power capability of wind turbines may not be sufficient to control the voltage of POI bus due to the reactive power losses in connection lines between wind farm and POI bus. The solution of this problem is to install an external STATCOM. The proposed cooperative control method of STATCOM and conventional reactive power compensators such as Switched-shunt and tap changing transformer can control the voltage of POI bus more efficiently. The simulation results are shown that the voltage drop of POI Bus of Test System with the arbitrary load change rate to initial loads is improved more than 60% and the voltage of load bus is maintained more than 95% of rated voltage.

Extraction of the JEM Component in the Observation Range of Weakly Present JEM Based on Complex EMD (복소 EMD를 이용한 미약한 JEM의 관측 범위에서 JEM 성분의 추출)

  • Jet engine modulation(JEM) is a frequency modulation phenomenon of the radar signal induced by electromagnetic scattering from a rotating jet engine turbine. Although JEM can be used as a representative radar target recognition method by providing unique information on the target, its recognition performance may be degraded in the observation range of weakly present JEM. Hence, this paper presents a method for extracting the JEM component by decomposing the radar signal into intrisic mode functions(IMFs) via complex empirical mode decomposition(CEMD) and by combining them based on signal eccentricity. Its application to various signals demonstrated that the proposed method improved the clarity of JEM analysis and could extend the effective observation range of JEM.

  • 터빈 블레이드와 같이 회전하는 구조물의 파단은 공진 근처에서 진동이 발 생할 때에 이에 기인하는 피로에 의하여 발생한다. 그러므로 이와 같은 파단 을 피하기 위해서는 설계 단계에서 이론적인 계산에 의하여 구조물의 고유 진동수를 결정하는 것이 상당히 중요하다. 판이 회전을 받게 되면 원심력에 의하여 판의 강성이 증가하므로 고유진동수가 회전하지 않는 판의 고유진동 수보다는 상당히 증가하게 된다. 이에 대한 연구가 국내외에서 상당수 행하 여졌지만, 연구의 대부분이 회전의 영향을 고려하지 않은 정지판(stationary plate)에 대한 것이며 뢰전을 고려한 연구는 극히 제한되어 있다. 또한 회전 의 영향을 고려한 연구의 대부분이 해석 대상을 보로서 단순화 시켰고 해법 으로는 유한요소법과 Ritz법 등을 사용하였다. 이는 블레이드가 지니고 있는 기하학적인 형상과 진동 특성이 해석적인 방법으로 해결하는 데에는 상당한 어려움이 있기 때문이다. 실제적으로는 터빈 블레이드와 같은 회전체의 진동 특성이 설치각이나 비틀림각, 판의 형상비, 회전속도 등의 변화에 의하여 영 향을 받기 때문에 보와 같은 진동 거동을 보이기보다는 판이나 셀과 같은 진동 거동을 보이므로 보다 정확한 해석을 수행하기 위해서는 해석 대상을 판이나 셀로서 취급하는 것이 타당하다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 위와 같은 이 유 때문에 해석 대상을 등방성 사각판과 직교이방성 복합재료 사각판으로 선택하였으며, 구조물의 고유진동수에 영향을 미치는 다음과 같은 인자들을 해석에 고려하였다. 1. 회전속도 (rotational speed) 2. 설치각 (setting angle) 3. 허브의 반경 (hub radius) 4. 판의 형상비 (aspect ratio) 5. 적층순서 (stacking sequence)구조물에 대한 동적실험(dynamic test)을 통하여 단기간에 동적특성을 결정하고 SDM(structure dynamic modification)이나 FRS(force response simulation)를 수행하여 임의의 좌표 공간에 대한 진동수준을 해석적으로 예측할 뿐만 아니라 구조물의 진동제어 를 위한 동적인자를 변경시킬 수 있는 정보를 제공하며 장비를 방진할 경우 신뢰성 있는 전달률을 결정할 수 있다. 실험적으로 철교, 교량이나 건물의 철골구조 및 2층 바닥 등 대,중형의 복잡한 구조물에 대항 동특성을 나타내 는 모빌리티를 결정할 경우 충격 가진 실험이 사용되는 실험장비 측면에서 나 실험을 수행하는 과정이 대체적으로 간편하다. 그러나 이 경우 대상 구조 물을 충분히 가진시킬수 있는 용량의 대형 충격기(large impact hammer)가 필요하게 된다. 이러한 동적실험은 약 길이 61m, 폭 16m의 4경간 교량에 대 하여 동적실험을 수행하여 가능성을 확인하였다. 여기서는 실험실 수준의 평 판모델을 제작하고 실제 현장에서 이루어질 수 있는 진동제어 구조물에 대 한 동적실험 및 FRS를 수행하는 과정과 동일하게 따름으로써 실제 발생할 수 있는 오차나 error를 실험실내의 차원에서 파악하여 진동원을 있는 구조 물에 대한 진동제어기술을 보유하고자 한다. 이용한 해마의 부피측정은 해마경화증 환자의 진단에 있어 육안적인 MR 진단이 어려운 제한된 경우에만 실제적 도움을 줄 수 있는 보조적인 방법으로 생각된다.ofile whereas relaxivity at high field is not affected by τS.   • It is required to predict a limit cycle amplitude controlled by system's nonlinear behavior as well as an eigen-frequency and initial growth rate of instabilities under the linear motions, in order to fully understand combustion instabilities in a lean premixed gas turbine combustor. Special focus of the current work is placed on the limit cycle amplitude prediction using flame describing function(FDF) where the ratio of a heat release fluctuation to a given flow perturbation is expressed as a function of frequency and amplitude. In this study, the CFD modeling work based on RANS is carried out to obtain FDF, which makes that the nonlinear thermo-acoustic model is successfully developed for predicting the limit cycle amplitude of the combustion instability.

  • A turbocharger is an engine supercharger that is driven by exhaust gas. It improves the output and fuel efficiency by increasing the charging efficiency of the mixture gas, which is achieved by changing the rotatory power of the turbine connected to the exhaust passage. It is important to control the supercharging for this purpose. A nozzle slide joint is one of the core parts. Austenitic stainless steel is currently used as the material for this part, and its excellent mechanical properties include high heat resistance and corrosion resistance. However, because of its poor machinability, there are many difficulties in producing products with complicated shapes. Machining is used in the production of nozzle slide joints for high dimensional accuracy after metal powder injection molding. As design variables in this study, we investigated the sintering temperature, product stress, deformation rate, radius of curvature of the punch, and angle of the chamfer punch, which are related to the strain and shapes. The goal is to suggest a forming process using Nitronic 60 that does not require machining to manufacture a nozzle slide joint for a turbocharger. Accordingly, we determined the best process environment using finite-element analysis, the signal-noise ratio, and the Taguchi method for experiment design. The relative density and hydrostatic pressure of the final product were in accordance with the results of the finite element analysis. Therefore, we conclude that the Taguchi method can be applied to the design process of metal powder injection molding.

  • Gasification technology is one of the representative next-generation fossil fuel utilization technologies, converting low grade fossil fuels such as coal, heavy residue oil, pet-coke into highly clean and efficient energy sources. Accordingly, related market demand for gasification technology is ever increasing steadily and rapidly. A few years ago, conventional pulverized coal utilization technology had an edge over the gasification technology but the most significant technical barrier of limited capacity and availability has been largely overcome nowadays. Futhermore, it will be more competitive in the future with the advancement of related technologies such as gas turbine, ion transfer membrane and so on. China has recently completed a commercialization-capable large-scale coal gasification technology for its domestic market expansion and foreign export, rapidly becoming a newcomer in the field and competing with existing US and EU technical leadership at comparable terms. Techno-economic aspect deserves intensive attention and steady R&D efforts need to continue in organized, considering that gasification technology is quite attractive combined with $CO_2$ capture process and coal to SNG plant is economically viable in Korea where natural gas is very expensive. In the present paper, recent technology development and commercialization trend of many leading companies with coal gasification expertise have been reviewed with significant portion of literature cited from the recently held '2014 Gasification Technology Conference'.

Heat Integration and Economic Analysis of Dry Flue Gas Recirculation in a 500 MWe Oxy-coal Circulating Fluidized-bed (CFB) Power Plant with Ultra-supercritical Steam Cycle (순환 유동층 보일러와 초초임계 증기 사이클을 이용한 500 MWe급 순산소 화력발전소의 건식 재순환 흐름의 열 교환 및 경제성 분석)

  • This study presented techno-economic analysis of a 500 MWe oxy-coal power plant with CO2 capture. The power plant included a circulating fluidized-bed (CFB), ultra-supercritical steam turbine, flue gas conditioning (FGC), air separation unit (ASU), and CO2 processing unit (CPU). The dry flue gas recirculation (FGR) was used to control the combustion temperature of CFB. One FGR heat exchanger, one heat exchanger for N2 stream exiting ASU, and a heat recovery from CPU compressor were considered to enhance heat efficiency. The decrease in the temperature difference (ΔT) of the FGR heat exchanger that means the increase in heat recovery from flue gas enhanced the electricity and exergy efficiencies. The annual cost including the FGR heat exchanger and FGC cooling water was minimized at ΔT = 10 ℃, where the electricity efficiency, total capital cost, total production cost, and return on investment were 39%, 1371 M$, 90 M$, and 7%/y, respectively.

Comparison of LCOE of the Southwest Offshore Wind Farm According to Types and Construction Methods of Supporting Structures (해상풍력 지지구조물 형식 및 시공 방법에 따른 서남해 해상풍력실증단지의 균등화발전비용 비교)

  • In order to understand the economic feasibility of an offshore wind farm, this paper analyzed the differences in LCOE (levelized cost of energy) according to the support type and construction method of the substructure in terms of LCOE and sensitivity analysis was conducted according to the main components of LCOE. As for the site to be studied, the Southwest Offshore Wind Farm was selected, and the capital expenditures were calculated according to the size of the offshore wind farm and the installation unit. As a result of the sensitivity analysis, major components showed high sensitivity to availability, turbine related cost, weighted average cost of capital and balance of system related cost. Moreover, the post-piling jacket method, which was representatively applied to the substructure of the offshore wind farm in Korea, was selected as a basic plan to calculate the capital expenditures, and then the capital expenditures of the pre-piling jacket method and the tripod method were calculated and compared. As a result of analyzing the LCOE, it was confirmed that the pre-piling jacket method of the supporting structure lowers the LCOE and improves economic feasibility as the installation number of turbines increases.
