  • Background: The purpose of this study was to analyze the correlation between risk perception and attitudes and preventive behaviors among college students with poor health and safety consciousness. Methods: A survey was conducted in students at three universities in the metropolitan area from May 11 to 18, 2018. Four kinds of instruments were used for this study, questionnaires about attitudes, perception, prevention education and preventive behaviors. Results: The safety-related attitude depended on age: those aged <21 years had the best attitude. Education experience significantly affected perception. Preventive behaviors were more strongly and positively correlated with attitudes than with perception. The factor most significantly affecting preventive behaviors were attitudes to preventive health. Conclusions: To allow the students to change their awareness and behaviors related to sickness and accidents, first it is necessary to give education on a continuous basis so that they can obtain perception to cope with sickness and accidents; second, it is necessary to develop behavioral guidelines related to accidents in each area so that they can practice and make it a habit through attitudinal changes.

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the correlations and influence factors of knowledge, attitude, and practice of soldiers on hand washing. This is expected to be basis for hand washing and health education in the army. Total of 420 soldiers were randomly selected and surveyed. The collected data were analyzed using beta regression model through R and SAS program. As a result, there was a statistically significant correlation among knowledge, attitude and practice of hand washing, and the degree of health education was analyzed as having no effect on knowledge, attitude and practice. However, the exposure degree of related health promotional materials had significant effect on them. Therefore, in order to promote the practice of hand washing in the army, continuous exposure of the publicity materials is more effective than the health education. It can be also positively influenced all on knowledge, attitude and practice hand washing.

Results: The mean score for knowledge of breast self-examination was 6.60/17 and attitude toward breast self-examination 42.34/64 and Practice level for breast self-examination was 13.23/24. The level of knowledge was differed significantly by Age(t=11.013 p<.001), Grade(t=12.725, p<.001), hearing experience of BSE(t=6.661, p<.001), experience of recommendation by others about BSE(t=3.426, p<.001), Educational experience of BSE(t=5.825, p<.001), experience of performance of BSE(t=2.789, p=.005). Practice level was differed significantly by hearing experience of BSE(t=5.250, p<.001), Educational experience of BSE(t=4.493, p<.001), Plan of BSE(F=3.910, p=.013). Slightly positive correlations were found between knowledge and attitude, knowledge and practice. Conclusion: The study suggested that we need to develop effective educational program for breast self examination to promote practice level of female students in university.

  • The first purpose of this study was to compare the mean Knowledge, Attitude & Practice(KAP) scores concerning major occupational health between two types of occupational health management in small & medium-scale textile factories. Sample number was 1,138 workers. In small & medium factories with 300 workers or less, they have two alternatives for occupational health management ; Individual Health Management or Vicarious Health Management. The second purpose was to determine if there was a relationship between duration of Vicarious health management and mean KAP scores for 694 workers from the Vicarious Health Management group. We used self-administered questionnaires for measuring KAP. The results of this study were; 1. There was significant difference concerning all socioeconomic & occupational variables (gender, age, education level, marital status, Blue/White collar, working duration of present factory, working duration of total factories) except for shift. 2. There was no significant difference of mean scores of Knowledge and Attitude between the Individual Health Management Group and the Vicarious Health Management. But, the mean score of Practice was significantly different. 3. According to multiple regression analysis, the mean score of Knowledge significantly increased with age, education level, working duration of all factories increased. The mean score of Attitude significantly increased with age, education level and married. The mean score of Practice significantly increased with age, education level, working duration of all factories, married and men. 4. In conclusion, The type of Health management did not significantly affect the mean KAP scores concerning major occupational Health problems. 5. • The purpose of this study was to survey Korean soldiers' oral healthcare practice and attitudes along with their stress level, and thereby to identify possible correlations among those factors. The survey was conducted from June 11 to Oct. 10, 2008 in G-gun, Chungbuk. province for soldiers. The questionnaire was consisted of the oral healthcare practice and attitude, stress level. As a result, it was found that our respondents scored 3.55 out of possible 9 point in their stress level, which indicated that they had relatively low stress on the whole. According to survey on their oral healthcare practice and attitude depending on their general characteristics, it was found that the higher academic career was associated directly with the more practices of oral healthcare, and nonsmoking group showed more practices of oral healthcare than smoking group. It was found that 'schoolwork and workplace' and 'sexual problem' were critical stress factors on our respondents' oral healthcare attitudes. And it was also found that 'outward appearance complex', 'personality complex', 'conflicts with parents' and 'sexual problem' were critical stress factors on their oral healthcare practices. Since our soldiers' maintenance of their oral healthcare is beneficial to both individual and national aspects, it is necessary for interested parties including dental surgeons to make efforts to develop a promotional program for military dental healthcare project and provide a series of reorientations for soldiers, so that they can have more positive oral healthcare practices and attitudes.
