  • Nonparametric empirical Bayes estimation of a distribution function with respect to dirichlet process prior is considered when sample sizes are varying from component to component. Zehnwirth's estimate of $\alpha$(R) is modified to be used in our empirical Bayes problem with non-identical components.

Estimating Hydraulic Properties of Soil from Constriction-pore Size Distribution (수축공극크기분포를 이용한 지반의 수리학적 물성치 산정)

  • Since water flow in the ground depends on the pore structure composed of soil grains, equations to predict the hydraulic properties based on the grain size have low accuracy. This paper presents a methodology to compute constriction-pore size distribution by Silveria's method and estimate saturated and unsaturated hydraulic properties of soils. Well-graded soil shows a uni-modal pore size distribution, and poor-graded soil does a bimodal distribution. Among theoretical models for saturated hydraulic conductivity using pore size distribution, Marshall model is well-matched with experimental results. Model formulas for soil-water characteristic curves and unsaturated hydraulic conductivity using the pore size distribution are proposed for hydraulic analysis of unsaturated soil. Continuous research is needed to select a model suitable to estimate hydraulic properties by applying the developed model formulas to various soils.

  • In this study, the optical depth is analyzed with the effects of droplet size distribution of the water curtain nozzle to attenuate the radiative heat transfer. The HELOS/VARIO equipment is used for the measurement of the droplet size distributions. The spray characteristics are quantified by the investigation of Deirmenjian's modified gamma distribution function. The distribution constant of the nozzle can be obtained as ${\alpha}=1$ and ${\gamma}=5.2$. The generalized equation of the optical depth related with the droplet size distribution is introduced. These results will be applicable to the analysis of the design condition of the water curtain nozzle.

  • 최근 널리 보급되고 있는 IPTV의 주요 서비스인 주문형 비디오 서비스의 시청 순위는 Zipf의 법칙을 따른다고 알려져 있으며 이를 기반으로 계층형 네트워크 스토리지 구조로 서비스를 제공하여 네트워크 비용과 스토리지 비용을 절감하고 있다. 그러나, 최근 연구에 의하면 미디어 시청 순위는 stretched exponential 함수에 더 근사함이 알려졌다. 본 연구에서는 국내에서 현재 상용 서비스 중인 대규모 주문형 비디오 서비스의 시청 순위-회수 데이터를 분석하여, 시청 순위로부터 stretched exponential 함수의 모수를 추정하여 시청 순위의 분포함수를 파악하고자 한다. 특히, 콘텐츠 파일 크기, 콘텐츠 파일 전달방식, 콘텐츠 장르 등의 요인과 시청 순위 분포함수의 모수 사이에 상관관계가 있는지 분석하고자 한다.

Stress Distribution under a Geogrid-Reinforced Soil Pad (지오그리드로 보강한 성토지반의 응력분포)

  • 얕은 기초의 침하는 기초에 가해지는 상재 하중의 지반에 전달될 때 분포되는 응력의 특성과 크기에 관련되어 일어난다. 일반적으로 지반의 보강재로 사용되는 지오그리드로 두께가 작은 토체를 보강하면 지중에 전달되는 응력을 재분포시켜 감소시킨다. 이 논문에서는 현장시험을 통하여 여러 층의 지오그리드로 토체를 보강시 토체 상부에 가해지는 원형 등분포 하중하에서 토체의 응력 분포를 측정하였다. 인천국제 공항 건설 현장의 준설 매립 구간에서 행하여진 이 시험을 통하여, 지오그리드로 보강된 토체의 하중 분포는 기초에 가해지는 하중 강도와, 보강재 포설층수, 토체의 두께의 함수로 나타낼 수 있다.

Breakdown Voltages Deviation for Channel Dimension of Double Gate MOSFET (이중게이트 MOSFET의 채널구조에 따른 항복전압 변화)

  • This paper have analyzed the change of breakdown voltage for channel dimension of double gate(DG) MOSFET. The breakdown voltage to have the small value among the short channel effects of DGMOSFET to be next-generation devices have to be precisely analyzed. The analytical solution of Poisson's equation have been used to analyze the breakdown voltage, and Gaussian function been used as carrier distribution to analyze closely for experimental results. The breakdown voltages have been analyzed for device parameters such as channel thickness and doping concentration, and projected range and standard projected deviation of Gaussian function. Since this potential model has been verified in the previous papers, we have used this model to analyze the breakdown voltage. As a result, we know the breakdown voltage is influenced on Gaussian function and device parameters for DGMOSFET.

  • The size of pupil with pupillary light reflex is determined by the amount of a luminance. and it is dependent with the distribution function of the retinal illuminance which is the amount of transmittance for the external light due to the size of pupil, and the detector of cone and rod due to the amount of the luminance. The change of the pupil size with the luminance can be expressed with the mathematical model $$y(x)={\alpha}+{\beta}\frac{1}{1+{e}{x}{p}(x-x_0)/{\theta}}$$ where ${\alpha}$ is the size of the pupil diameter in a maximum value of the luminance, ${\beta}$ is the deviation of the pupil's diameter between maximum and minimum, ${\theta}$ is the parameter showed the degree of a sensitivity. Comparing with the experimental value of P.Moon et al, We known that the equation of the model is very compatible.

Modeling of Degenerate Quantum Well Devices Including Pauli Exclusion Principle

  • A new model for degenerate semiconductor quantum well devices was developed. In this model, the multi-subband Boltzmann transport equation was formulated by applying the Pauli exclusion principle and coupled to the Schrodinger and Poisson equations. For the solution of the resulted nonlinear system, the finite difference method and the Newton-Raphson method was used and carrier energy distribution function was obtained for each subband. The model was applied to a Si MOSFET inversion layer. The results of the simulation showed the changes of the distribution function from Boltzmann like to Fermi-Dirac like depending on the electron density in the quantum well, which presents the appropriateness of this modeling, the effectiveness of the solution method, and the importance of the Pauli -exclusion principle according to the reduced size of semiconductor devices.

  • 구조물이 가지는 에너지의 확률밀도함수를 이용한 능도제어 알고리듬을 제안한다. 구조물의 에너지는 Rayleigh 확률분포를 가지는 것으로 가정된다. 이것은 에너지가 항상 양의 값을 가지고 최소에너지가 발생할 확률은 1이라는 조건을 Rayleigh 확률분포가 만족시킨다는 사실에 근거한다. 제어력의 크기는 가정된 확률밀도함수에 따라 구조물의 에너지가 설계자에 의해 설정된 에너지 임계값을 넘을 확률의 크기에 비례하도록 산정되며, 제어력의 방향은 Lyapunov 제어기 설계기법에 따라 결정된다. 제시된 알고리듬은 LQR 제어기와 비교하여 최대응답을 줄이는 효과를 가지며, 제어력의 임계를 고려할 수 있는 장점을 가진다. 또한 Lyapunov 제어기에서 발생가능한 채터링(chattering)현상을 피할 수 있다.
