Low-velocity impact response of laminated composite plates using a higher order shear deformation theory (고차 전단 변형이론에 의한 복합재료 적층판의 저속 충격응답)

  • A $C^{0}$ continuous displacement finite element method based on a higher-order shear deformation theory is employed in the prediction of the transient response of laminated composite plates subjected to low-velocity impact. A modified contact law was applied to calculate the contact force during impact. The discrete element chosen is a nine-noded quadrilateral with 5 degree-of-freedom per node. The Wilson-.theta. time integration algorithm is used for solving the time dependent equations of the impactor and the central difference method was adopted to perform time integration of the plate. Numerical results, including the contact force history, deflection, and velocity history, are presented. Comparisons of numerical results using a higher order theory and a first-order theory show that using a higher order theory provides more accurate results. Effects of boundary condition, impact velocity, and mass of the impactors are also discussed.d.

Effects of Health Shocks on Employment and Income (건강 충격의 고용과 소득 효과 분석)

  • Using matching and difference-in-differences estimation method, this study estimates causal effects of health shocks on employment and income of full-time workers aged 40-55. Acute hospital admissions lower significantly the employment probability and earnings. The changes in employment and earnings persist up to three years after the health shock. The economic impacts of health shocks vary by socioeconomic status and job characteristics among individuals. Irregular workers are more likely to leave their jobs after health shocks than regular workers. Among irregular workers, the probability of leaving labor market after health shock decreases with the size of the firm.

  • Carbon fiber reinforced plastics (CFRPs), a composite material, are generally vulnerable to compressive load and impact damage in a direction perpendicular to the surface of the material. In particular, during the operation of an aircraft, impact damages caused by bird collisions or falling tools reduce the strength of the aircraft structure. In this study, after impact damages were applied to CFRP specimens with various impact energies and impactor diameters, the compressive residual strength of the impact-damaged specimen was evaluated by performing a compression test. Furthermore, a prediction model for the compressive residual strength is proposed according to the variation in the impact energy by comparing the test results.

  • Although a rate of car accident death is on the decrease, internal rate of median encroachment accident is still high. In order to reduce the median encroachment accident, government use median barriers but there are no exact criteria of them. Particularly, current impulse measurement method has adopted the uniformly operating speed and encroachment angle. At reality, however, there are various conditions depends on driver's characters. In that reason, this study calculates reasonable impulse quantity through encroachment angle and operating speed. It will be necessary to prevent overuse treasury and car accidents.

  • Dynamic properties of materials by shock loads such as rock blasting and earthquake are recently attracted in the design of aboveground and underground structures. The advance of measuring devices enables to obtain the whole histories of stress and strain in rock specimen of which the failure is completed in several hundred microseconds. The SHPB has been a popular and promising technique to study the dynamic behavior of rock. And the dynamic compressive, tensile and other test with this experiment system are planned to be Suggested Methods of ISRM. This technical paper is to introduced one study article which focuses the design of 3S (special shaped striker) to produce the half-sine wave to eliminate the problems of the rectangular wave. This article is also describing the advantage of half-sine incident wave and size effect of rock dynamic strength.

  • 본 논문은 유도전동기의 직접벡터제어 시스템에서 전동기가 기동 시 토크 충격없이 부드럽게 기동할 수 있는 기동기법을 제시한다. 직접 벡터제어에서 고정자 자속을 계산 시 사용되는 적분기 문제를 해결하기 위하여, 인버터주파수에 따라 시정수를 제어하는 프로그램어블 3-단계 저역필터를 적용한다. 이 3-단계 저역필터는 거의 완벽한 적분기능을 수행 할 수 있으나, 이 저역필터는 고정자 자속의 시간지연을 유발하므로 기동 시 전동기 토크의 충격을 발생된다는 문제점이 있다. 따라서, 기동시 고동자 자속의 시간지연을 보상하는 고장자 자속의 피이드포워드 기법을 제시하여, 전동기 기동 시 토크 충격을 방지한다. 시뮬레이션을 통하여, 이 기동기법의 타당성을 확인한다.

  • Collision behavior of clash cushion occurs for a second of less than 0.4sec usually so that it is too hard to calculate numerically. Therefore, for development of trash cushion, it rely on full-scale vehicle crash test without any design procedure. Occupant safety indices if calculated from acquired data by data measurement system and collision behavior of vehicle and crash cushion is filming using high-speed camera in the crash test. But practical ufo scope of high-speed camera is limited and it is not using to calculated the occupant safety indices or analyzed the energy dissipated mechanism of crash cushion. This work is to estimate to be suitable or not for compare the data from measurement system with the data from high-speed camera. And also it is to grope for practical use scheme to calculation of occupant safety indices or analysis of collision behavior.

  • The importance of bumper system lies not only in the styling of vehicles, but also in the protection of vehicles and pedestrians from reasonable impact. In this study, we proceed to search a method for efficient bumper system without using the impact test and the computer simulation to analyze the bumper system. In the process of the research, we proposed the each method that is used to search the shape that satisfy each regulations in first, because bumper's dimensions to satisfy 'vehicle protection' regulations and form's dimensions to satisfy ‘pedestrian protection' regulations are difficult to exist together. After that we proposed the calculate method and design algorithm that is used to search a reasonable point satisfying the two regulations together.

  • An experimental procedure to identify failure modes of impact damage using sensor signals and to analyze their general features is examined. A series of low-velocity impact tests from low energy to damage-induced high energy were performed on the instrumented drop weight impact tester to monitor the stress wave signals due to failure modes such as matrix cracking, delamination, and fiber breakage. The wavelet transform(WT) and Short Time Fourier Transform(STFT) are used to decompose the piezoelectric sensor signals in this study. The extent of the damage in each case was examined by means of a conventional ultrasonic C-scan. The PVDF sensor signals are shown to carry important information regarding the nature of the impact process that can be extracted from the careful signal processing and analysis.

  • In the present study, impact tests were carried out to investigate the crashworthy behaviour of the expanded polypropylene under the constant incident energy (100 J and 200 J) with five different combinations of striker mass and velocity. Also, preliminary quasi-static test was performed to obtain basic characteristics of the expanded polypropylene. MTS 858 and Instron dynatup 9250 HV were used for the quasi-static test and impact tests, respectively. In consequence, it was found that the impact energy absorption characteristics of the expanded polypropylene was more influenced by the striker mass instead of the velocity of the striker.
