In this study, for improving of concrete properties, those are used ground granulated blast slag(GGBS) and fly ash(FA). There are some advantage to add the GGBS and FA in plain concrete. The objective of this study is to find the characteristics of fresh and hardened antiwashout underwater concrete which is followed by blended ratio of GGBS and FA. Experimental parameters were chosen that W/C was 50%, S/a was 40% and as the blended ratio of GGBS was set at 0, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60% and FA was set at 0, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35% in order to prove the properties of antiwashout underwater concrete can be changed by blended ratio of GGBS md FA. It was measured pH, suspension and slump flow of fresh antiwashout underwater concrete and compressive strength of hardened antiwashout underwater concrete in age of 7 days, 28 days and 56 days. The experimental results of fresh concrete show that pH, suspension and slump flow were all satisfied with KSCE (Korea Society of Civil Engineering) standard value and mix design standard value. To synthetically consider, the optimum blended ratio is about 30% of GGBS and FA.
In this study, the causes and countermeasures for the leakage of a sea dyke under construction are analyzed. In general, the seabed ground is clearly divided from the embankment but a lot of parts show abnormal zones with low resistivity from the results of electric resistivity survey. Hence the causes of the leakage are considered as following: three-dimensional shear strain behavior, irregular compulsory replacement of the soft seabed ground with low strength and quality deterioration of the waterproof sheets during the closing process. The improvement method is determined by considering the constructability in the seawater and its velocity condition, durability, economic feasibility, similar application cases and so on. Consequently, a combination of low slump mortar and slurry grouting and injection method is selected as an optimum combination. Mixing ratio and improvement pattern are determined after drilling investigation and pilot test. The improvement boundary is separated into general and intense leakage area. The construction is performed with each pattern and the improvement effects are confirmed. The confirmed effects with various tests after completion show tolerable ranges for all of the established standards. Finally, various issues such as prediction of length of the waterproof sheet, installation of it against seawater velocity, etc. should be considered when sea dykes are designed or executed around the western sea which has high tide difference.

TDF (Tire derived fuel) Fly ash is an industrial by-product when scraped tire was used a fuel source at the power plant. TDF Fly ash has been classified as domestic waste at the workplace so far and has not been appropriately utilized. We conducted a fundamental physical property test of asphalt mixture to investigate the possibility of using TDF Fly ash as a mineral filler of asphalt mixture for exploring new usage strategies. TDF Fly ash meets KS F 3501 asphalt mixture mineral filler criteria. And the optimal asphalt binder amount was determined to be 4.5% by Marshall design. Mineral filler content was determined at 3% and analyzed by comparing using mineral filler as stone powder. The basic physical property test of the asphalt mixture was evaluated to the provision indicated in "Production and Construction Guidelines for Asphalt Mixture" published by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport. In the test, Marshall stability test, dynamic immersion test, tensile strength ratio test, wheel tracking test were carried out. As a result of the experiment, Marshall stability and dynamic stability satisfied the standards, and confirmed the stability and Dynamic immersion and tensile strength ratio test that TDF Fly ash is more effective for scaling and moisture resistance than stone dust. Therefore, in this research, it is expected that multilateral utilization of TDF Fly ash, and a positive effect can be also expected.
In this study, a comparison was made between the resulting behaviors of scaled model test and particle flow analysis for blasting demolition of a reinforced concrete structure. For the test and analysis, a progressive failure of a five-story structure was considered. The dimension analysis was carried out to properly scale down the real structure into the laboratory size. The test model was made of the mixture of gypsum, sand and water along with soldering lead to analogy reinforcing steel bars. The ratio of mixing components was chosen to best represent the scaled down strength and deformation modulus. The columns and girders of the structure were precasted in the laboratory and assembled right before the blasting test. The numerical analysis of the blasting demolition was carried out using PFC2D (Particle Flow Analysis 2-Dimension by Itasca). The results of the blasting of concrete lahmen structure showed roughly identical demolition behavior between scaled model test and numerical test. For the blasting of the reinforced concrete structure, the results were more identical and closer to the real demolition behavior, since the demolition behavior was better represented in this case due to the increased tensile strength of the component.
Onion vinegar has an undesirable flavor and taste that results from alcohol and acetic acid production from fermentation. In this study, we have used onion vinegar to develop an onion vinegar beverage with better sensory quality. The objective of this study was to determine the optimum blending ratio by using response surface methods to produce an onion vinegar beverage containing Yuza (Citrus junos Sieb ex Tanaka). The optimal formula for a fermented onion beverage was determined using a central composite design by the response surface methodology. The independent variables were obtained by regression analysis of the reaction surface of brown sugar, apple extracts and Yuza extracts. The optimum mixing ratio for onion vinegar:water:brown sugar:apple extracts:Yuza extracts was 6.0:77.6:4.9:9.2:2.3 (w/w). The actual overall acceptance was 7.08 under optimum conditions, which was close to the maximum predicted value of 6.96. The concentration of phenolic compounds, total flavonoids, and quercetin present in the onion vinegar beverage was 14.8 mg/100 g, 2.6 mg/100 g and 1.4 mg/100 g, respectively. The onion vinegar beverage showed antimicrobial activity against Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Salmonella typhimurium and Enterobacter aerogenes. It also showed antioxidant effects, with a DPPH radical inhibition rate of 18.2% and superoxide dismutase (SOD)-like activity of 11.5%. In conclusion, the onion vinegar beverage described here seems to have nutritional value and potential biological activity.

The stabilization techniques in the pavement foundations have advantages in increasing pavement performance and reducing pavement thickness. By mixing the geomaterials and stabilizer, the economical and structurally sound layer can be added in the pavement system. Until now, these techniques have been applied in the field empirically and the design criteria for stabilization has not been established. The purposes of this paper are to evaluate the mechanistic properties of stabilizers used for geomaterials and determine the type and optimum amount of stabilizer for each technique. The unconfined compressive testing and repeated load resilient modulus test were conducted on the coarse grained soils mixed with various types of stabilizer to investigate the strength and deformation characteristics of stabilized geomaterials. It is found from the test that the unconfined compressive strength of stabilized geomaterials is more than ten times higher than that of gradation modified geomaterials. The resilient modulus of stabilized geomaterials increases by $6{\times}10$ times compared to the original soils and tends to increase with increase of volumetric and deviatoric stress, and amount of stabilizer.
In case of Korea highways, about 60% of highways are paved by concrete and more than 50% of them were repaired due to reduction in required performance such as damage in pave or joint and delamination of cover pavement. However, repairing old material in such structure generally costs a lot of money and induces difficulty in maintenance. Thus, enhanced material for ensuring economic efficiency should be developed. The present study designed concrete mixtures with 3 levels of replacement using OPC (0, 10, 20%) in calcium aluminate cement and to evaluate material performance for load pavement, experimental works for setting time, compressive strength and flexural strength were carried out on those materials. As a result, 20% replacement for OPC was determined as an optimized material in terms of required physical performance and its unit price. Moreover, to determine cost in load pavement economy analysis using a program (CA4PRS) was conducted with widely used paving materials. Result showed that application for 20% replacement for OPC was the most efficient in economical aspect, arising from 4.052 and 1.577 billion won for total construction and user cost, respectively.
In this study, the engineering properties including bearing capacity of subgrades stabilized with a binder are analyzed by laboratory and field experiments. The main components of the binder are CaO and $SO_3$. After the binder was mixed with a low plasticity clay, the passing rates were relatively decreased as the sieve mesh size increased. Not only did the soil type change to silty sand, but engineering properties, such as the plasticity index and modified California bearing ratio (CBR), were improved for the subgrade. A comparison of the compaction curves of the stabilized subgrade and field soil compacted with the same energy demonstrated an increase of approximately 6% in the maximum dry unit weight, slight decrease in optimum moisture content, and considerable increase improvement in grain size. In the modified CBR test, the effect of unit weight and strength increase of the modified soil (with a specific amount of binder) was remarkably improved. As the proportion of granulated material increased after the addition of binder, the swelling was reduced by 3.3 times or more during initial compaction and 6.5 times by final compaction. The unconfined compressive strength of the specimens was maintained at the homogeneous value with a constant design strength. The stabilized subgrade was validated by applying it in the field under the same conditions; this test demonstrated that the bearing capacity coefficients at all six sites after one day of compaction exceeded the target value and exhibited good variability.

This work was carried out to evaluate the feces and ileal digestibility of canola meal and wheat bran in ducks. Ninety Pekin ducks (6-week-old, average 3.4 kg) were divided into three treatments (6 replications/treatment, 5 birds/replication) by feedstuffs (basal diet, canola meal, and wheat bran) and were fed on these diets in individual metabolic cages for one week. After one week, the samples for analysis were collected from feces and ileum. On comparison of treatments and collected sites, the feces digestibility of basal diet was the highest among treatments on chemical compositions except crude protein and crude fat and ileal digestibility of canola meal was the lowest (P<0.01). On comparison of treatments, the digestibility of basal diet was higher and that of wheat bran was lower when compared to other treatments (P<0.05). The feces digestibility was lower than the ileal digestibility in crude protein (P<0.05) and crude fat (P<0.01). The digestibility of amino acid was the highest at feces of control group among treatments (P<0.01). No significant difference was detected in terms of digestibility of isoleucine, leucine and phenylalanine among essential amino acids, and alanine, glycine and tyrosine among non-essential amino acids between control and wheat bran, and wheat bran and canola meal. However amino acid digestibility was higher in control group when compared to canola meal group (P<0.05). Other amino acid digestibilities were not significantly differ by treatments. These results may provide the basic data on amino acid digestibility of ducks to evaluate feedstuffs and to formulate optimum diet for commercial Pekin duck.
A nutritional demand of oyster, Crassostrea gigas larva as part of research for improving of utilization of microalgae being used for the artificial oyster seed production. The change of body growth and biochemical compositions of larvae were investigated during larvae rearing in hatchery. The larvae were cultured in 60 M/T tank and fed mixture 6 different phytoplankton species, Isochrysis galbana (30%), Cheatoceros gracilis (20%), Pavlova lutheri (20%), Phaeodactylum triconutum (10%), Nannochryis oculata (10%) and Tetraselmis tetrathele (10%). The initial feeding amount was $0.3{\times}10^4cells/mL$ at three times a day to D-shaped larva and the feeding amount had been increased 30% gradually every two day since the larvae were raising. The larvae were developed from D shape to pediveliger stage for 12 days. The daily growth of shell length and hight were $5.8{\sim}30.8\;{\mu}m$ and $8.7{\sim}31.4\;{\mu}m$, respectively and weight gains were changed from D shape to pediveliger as follow: wet weight was $0.52{\sim}15.0\;{\mu}g/larva$, dry weight was $0.2{\sim}6.5\;{\mu}g/larva$, and ash free dry weight was $0.1{\sim}8.5\;{\mu}g/larva$. The larvae growth pattern shown a logarithmic phase from D shape to umbone stage but after that stage shown a exponential growth aspect. The crude protein, crude lipid and nitrogen free extract (NFE) of larvae during rearing periods were analyzed as $6.1{\sim}10.6%$, $0.6{\sim}1.1%$ and 1.0-2.7%, respectively. And the total amino acid contents of the larvae during rearing periods were in order as glutamic acid $1.26{\sim}2.24%$, aspartic acid $0.97{\sim}1.70%$, and methionine $0.12{\sim}0.33%$. Of the total fatty acid in the analyzed larvae, the saturated fatty acid (SSAFA) was decreased from 54.3% (D shaped larvae) to 17.1 % (pediveliger) as larvae development but the total mono-unsaturated fatty acid (${\Sigma}MOFA$) and Poly-unsaturated fatty acid (${\Sigma}PUFA$) were increased from 29.9% and 7.8% to 40.6% and 45.6%, respectively. By the way the each fatty acid of the larvae were composed of palmitic acid $9.89{\sim}36.95%$, oleic acid $12.17{\sim}32.29%$, linoleic acid $1.96{\sim}33.55%$, EPA $2.17{\sim}11.58%$ and DHA $1.95{\sim}4.51%$. As a result of this study, the larvae of oyster were demanded a various nutrients for healthy growth and the feeding control, expecially after umbone stage larvae are a rapidly growing time, is very important for success of artificial seed production.
