Estimation of Transient Creep C(t)-integrals for SE(B) Specimen Under Elastic-Plastic-Creep Conditions (탄성-소성-크리프 상태에서 SE(B) 시편의 천이크리프 C(t)-적분 평가)

  • In this paper, we estimate the time-dependent C(t) integrals under elastic-plastic-creep conditions. Finite-element (FE) transient creep analyses have been performed for single-edge-notched-bend (SEB) specimens. We investigate the effect of the initial plasticity on the transient creep by systematically varying the magnitude of the initial step load. We consider both the same stress exponent and different stress exponents in the power-law creep and plasticity to elastic-plastic-creep behavior. To estimate the C(t) integrals, we compare the FE analysis results with those obtained using formulas. In this paper, we propose a modified equation to predict the C(t) integrals for the case of creep exponents that are different from the plastic exponent.

  • Finite element programs are developed, adopting the hyperbolic model and the Cam-clay model. In the hyperbolic model, a new model taking into account the volume change during shear is proposed and a new technique considering the density change underneath a footing is proposed. And a computing algorithm considered as more reasonable than existing one is presented. In the Cam-clay model, the deveoloped program is applied to sand, the case not recorded much, and then it is tried to analiza the behavior of sand from the viewpoint of the critical state concept. For this, the conventional CD triaxial compression tests and the footing model tests are carried out. The results are improved by 60 percent by using the modified hyperbolic model proposed. When the Cam-clay model is applied to sand, a model reflecting the overconsolidation effects and a computing algorithm accounting for the strain softening are needed. The results obtained by using the Cam-clay model are not much influenced by the value of the initial poisson's ratio, but those of the modified hyperbolic model are much influenced by that. So th values of the initial poisson's ratio must be selected deliberately in the numerical analysis.

Early-Age Performance of Intersection Pavement Constructed Using Precast Concrete Panels (프리캐스트 패널을 이용한 교차로 구간 도로 포장 초기 공용성 분석)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the early-age behavior and performance of precast pavements constructed by replacing existing asphalt pavements for an intersection in urban bus only lanes. The monitoring items included level differences between asphalt pavement and precast panels at the beginning and ending locations of the precast pavement, level differences and joint widths between precast panels, precast panel settlement, and skid resistance of the panel surface. At a certain time after the construction, the diamond grinding method was applied and its effect was also investigated. The monitoring results showed that as time went by, the panel level, joint width, settlement, and skid resistance were not much varied. That implied the stable sustaining of external loads by the precast pavements. In addition, it was verified that employing diamond grinding could reduce the level differences between precast panels.

  • In the case of the superstructure which is consist of two I girders and slab, the section can behave as II section, so that the neutral axis with respect to out of plane direction flexure can be regarded as major axis. Therefore in-plane flexural mode might govern the free vibration mode. Meanwhile, horizontally curved girders always experience not only bending moments but also torsional moments although the primary load is usually supposed to be gravitational load. The interaction due to bending and torsional moments make the behavior complicated and torsional mode may govern the free vibration mode. In other words, structure can have different dynamic characteristic due to its initial curvature. In this research, using 3-dimensional sell elements, free-vibration analyses are carried out due to initial curvature. The analysis models are assumed to be composite and non-composite and finally natural frequency and eigen mode are discussed.

  • 막구조(Membrane structure)란 건축분야에서 "fabric structure" 또는 tension structure"와 같이 사용되는 용어로 코팅된 직물(coated fabrics)을 주재료로 사용하는 구조를 말한다. 특히 구조체로서 연성의 막을 이용 이것에 초기 장력을 주어 강성을 늘림으로서 외부하중에 대하여 안정된 형태를 유지하는 장점을 갖고 있다. 초기 창안된 독일의 온화한 기후에 적용되는 반면 한국이나 일본에는 60m/sec를 넘나드는 태풍의 피해와 많은 적설량을 보이는 기후적 제약으로 발달되지 못하였다. 그러나 최근 새로운 소재의 막구조 제품 개발과 구조해석 방법 및 시공기술 등이 개발되어 보편화되어지고 있는 실정이다. 막구조용 재료로 사용되는 섬유소재는 주로 Polyester직물을 기재로 한 PVC 코팅 제품으로 일반 PVC 막재는 장력이 약하고, 광선에 의한 물성이 쉽게 변화되어 내구연한이 5~15년에 불과하다. 유리섬유나 아라미드섬유 등으로 제직한 기재에 고내열 실리콘이나 PTFE 수지를 코팅한 제품은 약품에 대한 내구성이 높고 자외선에 대해서는 매우 큰 저항성을 가지기 때문에 내구연한이 10년에서 30년 까지도 향상된다. 그러나 실리콘 코팅막은 세계적으로 가장 좋은 막재로 알려졌으나 자정능력(Self Cleaning)에 문제가 발생되어 사용량이 감소 추세라고 할 수 있다. 일반적인 코팅 가공의 경우 MEK, Toluene, DMF 등과 같은 유기용제를 다량 사용함에 따라 작업환경 및 대기오염, 화재 위험 등의 문제점이 있으며 특히 가공시 잔류되는 유기용제의 심각성이 대두되고 있는 상황이다. 이와 같이 코팅 가공제 자체를 친환경적인 물질로 대체하여 각종 환경규제에 대응하고 유해 폐기물의 발생을 줄일 수 있는 코팅 가공제 및 가공기술 개발이 절실하다. 이에 본 연구에서는 Glass-Fiber, Aramid 등의 슈퍼 섬유와 고 강력 섬유 등을 이용하여 PTFE 코팅제품과 비슷한 수준의 성능을 부여하는 무용제형 실리콘 코팅 수지를 개발하고 내구성능 향상, Self Cleaning성, 난연성, 자외선 차단, 인장강도 및 인열 강도의 향상 등 다양한 기능성을 부여하는 최적의 환경 친화적 코팅 공정 기술을 개발하여 차세대 건축용 막구조 제품을 개발하고자 한다.

Physical Property of Aramid ATY filament According to the ATY Nozzle Diameter (ATY Nozzle 직경변화에 따른 Aramid 단사의 ATY 물성)

  • The air texturing공정은 노즐에서 전달되는 초음속 에어기류에 의해 overfeed를 수반하여 yarn속 fiber가 뒤얽혀 loop와 crimp를 발달시키는데, 고강력 고탄성율 고내열성 내절단성 등의 특성을 가지는 아라미드섬유를 에어 가공사로 가공 할 경우 가공 전 필라멘트 상태일 때 보다 표면에 생기는 loop로 인하여 촉감이 좋아지고 또한 타 소재와 접착 시 접착제 담지 성능이 향상 되어 접착력이 상승되고, 이를 통해 보강재로서의 기능이 강화되는 반면 역학물성이 기존의 아라미드 보다 저하되는 약점을 가지고 있어 최근 ATY 공정조건이 ATY 사의 구조와 물성변화에 미치는 영향에 대한 많은 연구결과가 발표되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 Aiki air jet texturing machine에서 $Heracron^{(R)}$ para-aramid(840, 1000d, 1500d)를 사용하여 ATY nozzle의 직경을 0.6, 0.75, 1, 1.2mm로 변화를 주어 12개의 para-aramid ATY 시료를 제조하여 이들의 섬도, 강신도, 초기탄성률, 열수축률 그리고 형태불안정성(instability)등의 물성변화를 분석하여 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 노즐의 직경이 증가함에 따라 사 내의 filament간의 움직임이 자유로워 교락이 증가하고 루프가 형성되어 단위길이 당 mass가 커지므로 섬도가 미세하게 증가하는 것을 볼 수 있다. 또한 직경이 증가할수록 절단강도와 초기탄성률은 감소하고 절단신도가 증가하는 경향을 볼 수 있는데 이는 축 방향으로의 배열이 적어져 하중을 분담하는 portion이 감소하고 사의 loop형성이 많아짐으로서 상대적으로 인장력에 대응하는 fiber의 수가 적어지기 때문으로 사료된다. 이는 현미경 관찰로 확인할 수 있는데 직경이 증가함에 따라 사의 loop의 엉킴이 증가하고 filament가 조밀한 것을 확인할 수 있다. 직경 변화에 따른 건 습열 수축률은 1% 미만의 매우 낮은 값으로 영향을 받지 않는 것을 확인 할 수 있는데 para-aramid의 열적특성의 안정성에 기인하는 것으로 사료되며 ATY의 불안정성은 노즐 직경 증가에 따른 어떤 경향성을 찾아볼 수 없었지만 840d, 1000d, 1500d로 섬도가 증가함에 따라 사의 불안정성이 증가하였다.

Study on Fatigue Life of Continuously Reinforced Concrete Pavement with Design Parameter (설계변수별 연속철근 콘크리트 포장의 피로수명 연구)

  • A laboratory investigation is conducted to characterize and quantify fatigue lives of continuously reinforced concrete pavements (CRCP) with initial design parameters. Eight specimens scaled were made based on results of finite-element analyses and stress-strain curve comparisons. Static tests were firstly performed to obtain magnitudes of static failure loads and to predict crack patterns before fatigue tests. The fatigue lives measured in the study were compared based on each initial design parameter. The comparison indicates that the fatigue lives of CRCP specimens with initial cracks increases with increasing the initial crack spacing, and CRCP specimens with reinforcements at top of the concrete slab have more fatigue lives than those with reinforcements at midheight of the concrete slab. In addition, the fatigue lives were significantly affected by soil conditions under the CRCP specimens. The results obtained in the study can be used for maintenance and retrofit of the continuously reinforced concrete pavements.

Early-Age Behavior Monitoring of Bus-Stop-Section Pavement Constructed Employing Precast Concrete Pavement Method (조립식포장 공법을 적용한 버스정거장 포장 초기 거동 추적조사)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the early-age performance of precast pavements constructed by replacing existing asphalt pavements for a bus stop section in urban bus only lanes. The behavior monitoring items included the differences in the levels between asphalt and precast pavements at the entrance and exit of the precast pavement, joint widths and level differences between precast slabs, slab settlement, and skid resistance at the slab surface. The applicability of diamond grinding techniques was also investigated. The results of this study showed that the slab level, joint width, settlement, and skid resistance were not much changed as time passed, which implied that the precast pavements stably sustained vehicle loads. It was also found that employing diamond grinding could much improve the leveling between precast slabs and the surface skid resistance.

A New Method of Liquefaction Evaluation Based on Disturbed State Concept (교란상태개념에 기초한 새로운 액상화 평가 방법)

  • Although a number of methods have been proposed to predict the liquefaction potential, few methods have been developed by using the characteristic of material's microstructure. In this research, fundamental procedure is proposed for the assessment of liquefaction potential in saturated soils based on the Disturbed Sate Concept(DSC) model which can provide a unified constitutive model for the characterization of entire stress-strain behavior under cyclic loading. From this concept, the value of disturbance at threshold state (Critical Disturbance, $D_C$) in the deforming microstructure provides the basis for initial liquefaction. This method is verified with respect to data from Cyclic Truly Triaxial test for saturated Ottawa sand. Also, the relationship between liquefaction and initial confinig stress is defined using definition of $D_C$. It is believed that the new procedure for identifying liquefaction based on the DSC model can capture the behavior of liquefation, and as a result, it is shown to be on improvement over the available empirical procedures.

  • In order to attain enhanced seismic performance of RC bridges, premature shear failure prior to the achievement of target ductilities of the piers should be prevented. For this purpose, a reliable shear strength evaluation is required. The shear strength of an RC column subjected to a lateral force decreases with an increase in ductility. Many empirical equations for the shear strength have been proposed by many researchers. However, there are many discrepancies in the initial shear strength in the low ductility range, and in the decrease rate according to the ductility. In this study, a new empirical equation of shear strength considering the displacement ductility effect has been proposed, in which the initial shear strength equation proposed by the authors was revised on the basis of the investigation of many other researchers' test results. The resulting improvement in accuracy is confirmed by comparison with other empirical equations.
