In this paper, we propose a stereo matching method to improve the image quality at the hole and the disparity discontinuity regions. The stereo matching method extracts disparity map finding corresponding points between stereo image pair. However conventional stereo matching methods have a problem about the tradeoff between accuracy and precision with respect to the length of the baseline of the stereo image pair. In addition, there are hole and disparity discontinuity regions which are caused by textureless regions and occlusion regions of the stereo image pair. The proposed method extracts initial disparity map improved at disparity discontinuity and miss-matched regions using modified AD-Census-Gradient method and adaptive weighted cost aggregation. And then we conduct the disparity map refinement to improve at miss-matched regions, while also improving the accuracy of the image. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method produces high-quality disparity maps by successfully improving miss-matching regions and accuracy while maintaining matching performance compared to existing methods which produce disparity maps with high matching performance. And the matching performance is increased about 3.22(%) compared to latest stereo matching methods in case of test images which have high error ratio.

It is very important for rehabilitation to deal with psychological aspects of persons with disabilities, as well as efforts improving the institutional and environmental conditions. A majority of persons with severe disabilities in the situation of Korea have difficulty in having and maintaining a job. Work should and would be a source of self-respect and material well-being in this modern society. Therefore, Vocational rehabilitation services are measures in restoration of family functions and social participation of persons with disabilities. This study aims at investigating linguistic characteristics and the validity of constructional concepts of picture interest test Inventories that have been utilized for the segregated groups of people such as persons with developmental disabilities. Picture interest test inventories seemed to be valid for measuring psychological traits and characteristics of people with mental retardation, and this finding can be extended to the group of other developmental disabilities, such as learning disabilities and mild/moderate behavioral deficits. The Holland classification system seemed to be best fitted for developing a comprehensive and accurate vocational interest inventory.
This study is to look into the spin-off ventures which was incorporated based on the technology developed by public research institute, but underwent difficulties confronted during the development stages focused on the growth process and the factors contributed to their success. The case study was conducted with i-Sense Co., Ltd. which is a ventures organized by professors as a form of research based spin-off venture. i-Sense Co., Ltd. is a new-technology based ventures to produce self-tester for blood sugar level which was incorporated by Prof. Cha, Keun-sik and Prof. Nam, Hak-hyun of Department of Chemistry in Kwangwoon University along with the graduate course students of the Research Laboratory of the University. The two professors operated the Chemical Sensor Research Center at the Kwangwoon University where they produced many preliminary research outputs related with bio-sensors. They also executed the service works at the specialized company they established for research development to make research fund. They established i-Sense Co., Ltd. with the aim to carry out the research they want to. But contrary to the initial intention of the founders of the company, i-Sense Co., Ltd. has grown up as manufacturing company which produces and sells the self-tester for blood sugar level and is expected to be listed by Initial Public Offering (IPO) on the KOSDAQ in 2008. This study is to analyze the foundation and the growth process of i-Sense Co., Ltd. as successful research based spin-off ventures, to find out the factors contributed to their success by enabling them to overcome the difficulties experienced during the growth process, and eventually to provide with suggestive meanings in policy and practical point of view that leaded the research based spin-off ventures to success.
This study explores the trajectories of institutionalization for technology transfer both in the U.S. and Korea, particularly focusing on two universities: Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), and the University of California (UC). By comparing the diverging paths of the two universities in setting up institutions, this paper examines the limits of and lessons for technology transfer policies both to Korean government and universities in Korea. The University of California was involved in designing rules and codes, on one hand, to stimulate its members' engagements with technology transfer activity and, on the other hand, to keep its academic integrity since, no later than, the 1960s. The efforts and consequences range from its rules of patenting system to its codes of conducts. Through making rules formal and resolving conflicts on technology transfer activity, the U.S., and the University of California have decreased uncertainties for its members' engagements with industries. By contrast, KAIST has not built up such range of rules or codes due to its shorter experience and its constraining legal contexts. Korea introduced the legal format of the US Bayh-Dole Act in 2002, and its central government has led the initiatives for technology transfer, not allowing much latitude for its universities. This study implies a set of policy recommendations to the Korean government and KAIST: to build entrepreneurial universities, the government should give greater latitude to universities, so universities should be more rigorously engaged in developing their own rules and routines; the government, rather, should focus on providing bridging R&D funds like the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR), so researchers could draw on resources to move their basic research into next phases; KAIST would be better to promote its members to engage with industries, and introduce conduct codes that allow its academics to engage in industrial activity, rather than building up its commercialization facilities.
The study researched germination of the plants and growth of Fungus according to concentration of aqueous extracts in order to provide basic data for developing natural agricultural resources by using Persicaria longiseta. The seed germination of Amaranthus spinosus was inhibited at 25% P. longiseta extract, while Agrostis stolonifera ssp. palustris was not affected at all concentrations tested. Especially, the seed germination rate and fresh weight of Trifolium incarnatum at 20% P. blumei extract were higher than those of control plot. The early growth of most receptor plant seedlings was promoted at 25% and 50% of P. blumei extracts, but the radicle growth of all receptor plants was significantly inhibited at > 25% of P. longiseta extract. The response of receptor plants to P. longiseta extract was different according to the plant species and the plant parts. The growth of plant pathogenic fungus in PDA medium showed an increasing inhibition tendency with increasing concentrations of P. longiseta extract. Especially, P. longiseta extract showed the greatest antimicrobial activity against Phytophthora infestans, Phythium graminicola, and Pythium venterpoolii. The content of total phenolic compound in P. longiseta was higher in leaves (1082.3 mg/L) but lower in roots (228.6 mg/L) and stems (207.8 mg/L), which is an allelopathic chemical. As these results are summarized, P. longiseta have competitive advantage because they release phenolic compounds with allelopathic effect and affect on germination, growth and fungi growth on underground flora compared to native plants and they have eligibility for natural herbicide and germicide.

This study investigates the science teacher identity of pre-service science teachers (PSTs) in the context of a teaching practice course. Twenty-two PSTs who took the 'Biological Science Lab. for Inquiry Learning' course at the College of Education participated in this study. Artifacts created during the course were collected, and the teaching practices and reflections were recorded and transcribed. In addition, semi-structured interviews were conducted with nine PSTs, recorded, and transcribed. We found the science teacher identity was not well revealed at the beginning of the course. Authoritative discourse appeared in the early oral reflections of PSTs, indicating that the PSTs perceived oral reflection activities as 'evaluation activities for teaching practice'. This perception shows that pre-service teachers participate in teaching practice courses as students attending a university, performing tasks and receiving evaluations from instructors. After the middle of the course, discourses showing the science teacher identity of the PSTs were observed. In the oral reflection after the middle part, dialogic discourses often arose, showing that the PSTs perceive the oral reflection activities as a 'learning activity for professional development'. In addition, in the second half, discourse appeared to connect and interpret one's experience with the teacher's activity, indicating that the PSTs perceive themselves as teachers at this stage. In addition, the perception of experimental classes was expanded through the course. During the course, the practice of equalizing the authority of the participants, providing a role model for reflection, and experiencing various positions from multiple viewpoints in the class had a positive effect on the formation and continuation of the teacher identity. This study provides implications on the teacher education process for teacher identity formation in PSTs.
This paper attempted to explore the basic concept of a website for start-up supports angled towards North Korean defector entrepreneurs. The position of this study was made clear by reviewing the existing literature, and the case study was carried out to make sure the results are essential to create the services vital for the North Korean defector's entrepreneurial ecosystem. Focusing on the fact that there is not yet a website for supporting North Korean defectors' start-up in Korea, an early version named "Prometheus" was designed. A revised version called "Pathfinder" followed with improvements. This study conducted academic and practical experiments by directly designing and implementing a medium that can boost the development of the start-up ecosystem of North Korean defectors based on the insights provided by North Korean (future)business owners and South Koreans interested in the start-up ecosystem of North Korean defectors. Taking this study as an opportunity both the research to further clarify the "start-up of North Korean defectors," a very special phenomenon that exist in Korea, and the research for practical contribution should be encouraged in various ways. These efforts will not only help North Korean defectors start-up businesses, and also play a role in boosting a sense of coexistence and cooperation within North Korean defectors community.

The purpose of this study is to examine the characteristics of model of the experiment in students' open inquiry. The research is a reinterpretation of the data collected from the performance of a three-year research project under the theme of 'school science inquiry' the perspective of model of the experiment. The inquiry activities of a focus group made up of four students have been recorded seven times. The recorded files and transcribed copies were analyzed according to interpretive methods. Students' activities were divided into three modeling of the experiment units, considering the modeling unit that includes the process of starting from the problem until it gets solved. The results of the study include illuminating the dynamic process and characteristics of modeling of the experiment and discussing its educational meaning as a distributed cognitive system at each modeling unit. First, students, instruments, and the primitive form of calculation represented by the interaction between them turned out to be important factors in the distributed cognitive system that constitutes model of the experiment. Second, in the early stages, non-verbal activities were carried out in which students became familiar with instruments, and verbal quantitative signs were created when the activities were sufficiently carried out. The generated quantitative signs became a source of data and confidence that can be referenced in subsequent activities. Third, the specialization of instrumentalization occurred, and factors that were important in inquiry, such as variable control, appeared. The results of the study provide new implications for science education research and education, which have been centered on explanatory models, by unfolding the characteristics of model of the experiment that have not been noticed in science education through students' inquiry.

This study was aimed at exploring the parenting experience of fathers in single parent families as well as comprehensively determining their parenting experiences and the various parenting resources and support systems that have emerged in the process. The subjects were five divorced fathers who had not remarried and had been raising their children on their own. This qualitative case study involved data collect through in-depth interviews. The inter-case analyses derived two topics, five categories, and 17 concepts related to the issues of interest. The results indicated, that, first, there was "psychological confusion in the early stages of parenting" because of the sudden onset of this responsibility after divorce. Second, in the parenting experience, the fathers felt that "family survival was at stake". Third the support systems that the fathers had in raising single parent families were "social resources" made available through workplaces, acquaintances, institutions, and the government. Such systems also took the form of "family resources" including brothers and parents. An "internal resource" was the presence of children along with psychological sources of support, such as responsibility and the satisfaction experienced by the fathers through parenting. This study, uncovered the reality, resources, and support systems of fathers in single families. It is meaningful in that it will serve as a basis for supporting practical measures and educational interventions for fathers in single-parent households.
