A Vertical Movement Plan for Labors in High-Rise Building Construction Using Discrete-Event Simulation (이산형 시뮬레이션을 사용한 초고층건물공사 작업원의 수직이동계획)

  • Recently, many high-rise buildings have been constructed, and are under construction. And a high-rise building with more than 100 floors is under planning. From site logistics management point of view, it is very important to manage vertical transportation of resource (e.g., material, equipment and construction labors) in high-rise building construction. The higher the building is constructed, the more important it is to manage for vertical transportation of it. In case of labors, vertical movement needs longer time in high-rise building construction than in low-rise. This results in low productivity and work efficiency of the construction. Therefore, this study presents a process of a vertical movement plan for labors using discrete-event simulation. And then the process applies to MT 130 project, which is a virtual high-rise building construction project.

  • Recently, Housing projects in the center of the Metropolis are getting higher, larger, more complex gradually, the resources are increasing greatly. Especially, the right manpower in the right place could quite important factor because the construction cites are wide and many subcontractors and labors throw into finish works in High-rise Housing projects. Differing from apartment building projects. it is only four or five years that high rise building projects are started so, there is little data for manpower information. Furthermore it is difficult that the data gathering and managing because manpower management is usually used to execute by subcontractors from supply to demand. Consequently, this study, proposed develop management for accurate manpower plan and efficient collection and practical use of manpower information through analysis of present condition in construction sites

  • The overall ability to manage the construction projects from an integrated perspective is important due to the emerging of high-rise building constructions. Potential hazardous of low productivity exist in the finishing work of high rise building a distinct example of the projects. Especially, the number of activities that should be controlled during finishing work is more than during skeleton work. Thus field managers should attract more attention to manage finish work activities. The low productivity of these activities can diminish that of skeleton work. Decision factors of the delivery system for finishing works in the high-rise building project is established by means of literature review and questionnaire survey and a basis to analyze the effects of the criteria to the deli very system is presented.

  • The technical improvement of high-rise building construction is getting better as the demands of the skyscrapers is increasing. The interior construction has become the essential factor which directly affects the whole project because of skyscraperization. This study has proposed the site image-based space model as the tool for supporting decision-making for preparation and execution of the interior construction. It is expected to make the space model which is suitable for the project characteristics and work packages.

  • Core-wall construction method is applied in many high-rise building constructions. This is caused by the advantages of the method such as the effect of saved construction cost and shortened period. However, the analysis study of planning practice for core-wall construction shows matters take place during core-wall construction, such as increasing in construction cost and period. These matters result from the limited work space leading to low productivity, the activity interference leading to increasing in period, additional temporary work cost and time, and delayed concrete pour activity. A large part of these can be prevented taking place by very detailed and most careful core-wall construction plan. Therefore, this study suggests improvement directions of core-wall construction planning process focused on the cooperation system of a contractor between a sub-contractor and the process.

  • High-rise buildings construction project have various risk factors. Major risk factors are negative results such as time delay and increase of costs. Therefore, this study was analyzed risk factors in construction stages of high-rise buildings using by PROMETHEE technique. For this, this research were identified risk factors through experts Focus Group Interview(FGI). And, PROMETHEE was used to setup evaluation standard for analysis of high-rise building construction risks. Next, the standard of evaluation index calculation was composed by using the definition level in PDRI. Preference function and evaluation index were identified through questionnaires. Through these processes, this study has calculated the importance of high-rise building construction risks using by PROMETHEE technique. As a result, high degree risk factors were as following. These are 'Operation plan of material lifting', 'Outrigger & Belt Truss Construction', 'Foundation work plan of high-rise building' and 'Considering a Structure concept of high-rise building'.

  • Tower crane hoisting plan is one of the key element for the success of entire High-Rise Building construction. Hoisting time is the basic factor to appropriate hoisting plan which need to the hoisting load estimate and tower crane selection. With this reason, accurate hoisting time is needed to the proper hoisting plan. The current hoisting time estimation for High-Rise Building focus on the hoisting cycle time estimation with historical data. However, this method underestimated the external influences like environmental factor. Thus, this paper aims to develop the hoisting time estimation model with discrete event simulation which include the wind influences with certain height. According to the simulation result, the hoisting time which applied wind influence is increasing with height growth. Because of the high speed wind, the upper area of building has more operation delay time than the mechanical operation time. Seoul, the research area, has the most fastest wind speed on April and the least on October. Due to these differences of wind speed, the hoisting time is estimated with significant differences between April and October. This hosting time estimation model would be used for estimating the influence of wind. Moreover, this could apply to make the realistic hoisting plan.
