  • Damages of cultural properties is caused by subsidence of foundation relating stone structures. To prevent of these structures, ground monitoring should be achieved certainly. Representative ground subsidence cause is saturated and unsaturated condition that is produced repeatedly by groundwater level fluctuations. It controls role that decrease porosity or effective porosity of soil media. Estimation of physical properties can predict from reaction of dielectric constant. Variations of dielectric constants are measured from physical characteristics change of pore, soil particle, air and water which are consisted to ground. Therefore, ground subsidence monitoring is thought that quantitative measurement is available using dielectric response of media.

  • Dispersants were prepared from petroleum pyrolysis residual oil (PPRO) through sulfonation. Without employing a conventional polynaphthalene sulfonate formaldehyde condensate (PNS) process, the dispersants (NPS) were synthesized by a simpler process only in 2 h. The chemical structure of new dispersant, which has various naphthalene derivative groups, was similar to PNS conformed by UV-visible spectroscopy curves. The new dispersants demonstrated high dispersing ability in inorganic suspension ; cement, $Fe_2O_3$, and $CaCO_3$.

  • Dynamic compaction may cause some demages to structures becasue it uses the impact energy of heavy weight with high drop height. This study measured and analyzed the vibrations at the (bnamic compaction site which was composed of man-made land fill. From the vibration analysis, it was found that the particle velocity and attenuation was greatest in longitudinal direction and smallest in transversal direction, the dominant frequency ranged from 7 Hz to 9 Hz and the structural damage could be prevented by reducing the drop height at the vicinity of the vibration sentialive structures. Also, the damage to the office equipment could be prevented by doing the dynamic compaction work curing closed-office hours.

  • The electron beam (EB) induced curing of a typical resin designed for the hard coating layer of in-mold decoration foils was investigated. The samples were irradiated with different doses of EB and the curing reaction was monitored by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. The change in coating properties such as surface hardness and anti-abrasion property was studied as a function of increasing dose. The effect of the addition of nano-particles on the improvement of coating properties was also examined. It was expected that the experimental results could be used for the commercial exploitation of the EB curing system comparable to the ultraviolet (UV) curing system.

  • Iron(Fe)-Molybdenum(Mo) alloyed nanoparticles and nanowires were produced by the chemical vapor condensation(CVC) process using the pyrolysis of iron pentacarbonyl($Fe(CO)_5$) and Molybdenum hexacarbonyl($Mo(CO)_6$). The influence of CVC parameter on the formation of nanoparticle, nanowire and size control was studied. The size of Fe-Mo alloyed nanoparticles can be controlled by quantity of gas flow. Also, Fe-Mo alloyed nanowires were produced by control of the work chamber pressure. Moreover, we investigated close correlation of size and morphology of Fe-Mo nanoparticles and nanowires with atomic quantity of inflow precursor into the electric furnace as the quantitative analysis. Obtained nanoparticles and nanowires were investigated by field emission scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction.

  • Since air pollution has become a globally critical issue and exhaust emissions from automobiles cause a major source of air pollution, many countries including advanced countries have stipulated stringent emission regulations. Particularly in diesel vehicles, NOx and particulate matters exhaust in significant amounts even though diesel vehicles provide merits in aspects of higher thermal efficiency and lower $CO_2$. To reduce Particulate matters and NOx, after-treatment technology such as filter trap, oxidation catalysts and EGR has been applied. This test was conducted on the effect of continuous regeneration diesel particulate filter and cooled-EGR, and 15ppm low sulfur diesel was used as a test fuel. Exhaust emissions, PM, NOx, CO, HC and Soots were measured and compared under D-13 and D-3 modes.

  • Dielectric material which is suitably designed for the application of the high-temperature electrostatic chucks(HTESCS) has been developed. Electrical resistivities and dielectric constants of the dielectric layer satisfy the demands for the proper operation of HTESC, and coefficient of thermal expansion(CTE) of the dielectric material matches well that of the bottom insulator so that it secures stable structure. In order to minimize particle contaminations, borosilicate glass(BSG) is selected as a bonding layer between dielectric layer and bottom insulator, and silver is used as a electrode. BSG is solidly bonded between upper dielectric and bottom insulator, and no diffusions or reactions are observed among silver electrode, dielectric, and glass layers. The chucking characteristics of the fabricated HTESC are found to be superior to those of the commercialized one.

  • The main Kernels(7 and 18 mesh) of naked barley were pearled to remove 5% of the outer layer of the Kernel. The contents of protein, fat, ash and minerals of pearled barley with pearling degrees of $78{\sim}100%$ were analyzed. All components were decreased with the increase of pearling degrees. The decrease of protein was lesser than that of ash or fat. Among minerals P, K, Mg and Na sharply decreased while Fe and Ca slightly decreased upon pearlig.

  • Vicilin and legumin, the storage Proteins of seed, were Purified from ginseng (Panax ginseng C.A. Meyer) endosperm cells. They were immunized in rabbits, and antibodies were raised respectively. Using these two antibodies, double immunogold labeling of vicilin and legumin was carried out to determine the gap of synthetic time and the transport pattern of vicilin and legumin in the ginseng endosperm cells. Vicilin and legumin were synthesized at the same time at early embryo developmental stage. They were secreted from the Golgi bodies and accumulated into the small vacuoles. As the endosperm cells developed, vicilin and legumin localized in the small vacuoles were gradually transported toward the large central vacuole where they were stored. Protein bodies were derived from the vacuoles filled with proteins and distributed in the endosperm cells of mature red seed. Protein bodies were various in size from 1 to 8 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ in which vicilin and legumin were mixed each other. The number of small particles labeled on the vicilin was greater than that of large particles labeled on the legumin in the protein bodies indicating that the amount of vicilin is higher than that of legumin in the protein bodies.

  • The sintering behaviors of the glass-alumina composites for low firing temperature were investigated as functiions of the volume fraction of alumina powder and the particle size with respect to porosity and pore shape. As the volume fraction of alumina powder was increased or the particle size of it was decreased, the sintering temperature of open pore-closing was raised. When the volume fractions of alumina which had 2.19$\mu\textrm{m}$ median diameter were increased with 20, 30, 40, and 50%, the sintering temperatures of open pore-closing were 425, 450, 475, and 500$^{\circ}C$. And when the median particle size of alumina was diminished from 2.19$\mu\textrm{m}$ to 0.38$\mu\textrm{m}$, the sintering temperature of open pore-closing was increased from 450$^{\circ}C$ to 475$^{\circ}C$. Especially, the sintering temperature, which showed maximum density, was corresponded with the stage of open pore-closing and after achieving maximum density over heating resulted in dedensification of specimen, so called, over-firing behavior.
