  • As the great disturbance from abusing credit cards in Korea becomes stabilized, credit card companies need to interpret credit-card delinquents classification models from the viewpoint of profit. However, hit ratio which has been used as a measure of goodness of classification models just tells us how much correctly they classified rather than how much profits can be obtained as a result of using classification models. In this research, we tried to develop a new utility-based measure from the viewpoint of profit and then used this new measure to analyze two classification models(Neural Networks and Decision Tree models). We found that the hit ratio of neural model is higher than that of decision tree model, but the utility value of decision tree model is higher than that of neural model. This experiment shows the importance of utility based measure for credit-card delinquents classification models. We expect this new measure will contribute to increasing profits of credit card companies.

  • The purpose of this study was to develop a scale for analyzing family life structure. For this purpose, family life was divided into 8 areas as to be grasped on the whole at first. Next the items to measure both the subjective and objective sides of each area are selected. At last, to test the reliability and validity of the scale we followed a process of verification. Diagnosing each family and making its problems and weaknesses clear with this scale will offer a base for developing the service which meets that familys needs.

  • This study develops a scale for consumer clothing satisfaction based on Lee et al. 's (2002) five stages of the consumer life cycle (acquisition, possession, consumption, maintenance, and disposal). Data were gathered by surveying college students using convenience sampling, and 419 questionnaires were used in the statistical analysis. In analyzing the data, an exploratory factor analysis and a confirmatory factor analysis using a structural equation modeling were conducted. The proposed scale, which identified various sources of satisfaction and dissatisfaction associated with the 5 consumption cycles of clothing, suggests some guidelines for marketers in enhancing consumer clothing satisfaction across consumption stages. The model test for the scale also identified that consumption satisfaction had the greatest effect on consumer clothing satisfaction showing the strongest loading and squared multiple correlation.

  • Currently, in Korea, all lengths are written in "meter" unit, and the non-statutory measuring units are banned for use. However, in some fields, traditional measuring units are widely used with necessary modifications, and people in such fields raise varying arguments on conversion to "meter" unit. This research examines traditional measuring units from historical and cultural viewpoints, and provides suggestions on how to improve consistency and standardization for more accurate and effective exchangeof scientific opinions.

  • The purpose of this study is to compare the image discrepancy with Korean clothing and Western clothing using semantic differential scales. 19 adjective pairs were used for this study. The survey questionnaire were given to 946 married - women in Seoul. For the statistical analysis frequency, percentage, mean, ANOVA, t-test and Factor analysis were used. T he major findings were as follows: 1. To evaluate the women's clothing, four major factors were obtained and it was found that women evaluated quite differently their dresses with Korean and western styles. 2. The major evaluating factor of Korean dress was aesthetic aspect and on the other hand the main factor of western dress was functional aspect.

  • the reduction of the interior nosie level has been the main interest of NVH engineers in the development of vehicles. However, the consumer's perception on the car noise is affected largely by the psychoacoustic characteristics of the noise, as well as the sound pressure level. In this study, the quality of the vehicle interior nosie is analyzed by employing the subjective evaluations and by representing them in temrs of the objective quantities. The subjective evaluatins were performed for the seven vehicles in the range of subcompact to luxury cars. The methods of paired comparisons and semantic differential were used to study the preference, the quality of interior noise and their correlation. The linear regression models were obtained for the subjective evaluation and the sound quality metrics.

  • In recent years, public complaints about railroad noise by KTX and Ordinary train are increasing. Restriction of railways uses same standard without distinguishing the type of railways. According to the type of railways, the frequency characteristics of emitting noise is different. Therefore it is requested to know how vary the public response to each types of railway. The noise annoyance to three types of trains (KTX, Electric train, Diesel train) was analyzed by Jury Evaluation Test for assessing the effect of frequency characteristics. The numerical results by a Semantic Differential Method showed that annoyance response to three type of trains depended on the frequency characteristics. As a result, this study proposed that the KTX could have a bonus level of maximum 2.9dB(A) to ordinary train.

  • The effect of a concentrated mass on the regions of dynamic instability of an axially oscillating cantilever beam is investigated in this paper. The equations of motion are derived using Kane's method and the assumed mode method. It is found that the bending stiffness is harmonically varied by axial inertia forces due to oscillating motion. Under the certain conditions between oscillating frequency and the natural frequencies, dynamic instability may occur and the magnitude of the bending vibration increase without bound. By using the multiple time scales method, the regions of dynamic instability are obtained. The regions of dynamic instability are found to be depend on the magnitude of a concentrated mass or its location.

  • This paper presents new testability measure based on learning, which can be useful in the deterministic process of test pattern generation algorithms. This testability measure uses the structural information that are obtained by teaming. The proposed testability measure searches for test pattern that can early detect the conflict in case of the hardest decision problems. On the other hand in case of the easiest decision problem, it searches for test pattern that likely results in the least conflict. The proposed testability measure reduces CPU time to generate test pattern that accomplishes the same fault coverage as that of the distance-based measure.
