  • This study focuses on investigating and analyzing overall information use behavior of the social science researchers. questionnaires were sent to 150 researchers in three major libraries or research institutes in the area of the social sciences, Five hypotheses were tested on the basis of the assumption that there would exist unique characteristics in the information seeking behavior of social science researchers The findings of the study shows that social science researchers prefer monographs and journals: they tend to use current material: the first information source for their research activities is the cited references in the book or journal article : they are likely to delegate literature searching to the librarian, but they tend to conduct direct searching in online setting: in general, they react positively for the rapid change in information environment caused by recent development of information technology, It is emphasized that to design an efficient information system and provide an effective information service in the social science related library or information center, it is essential to consider the major characteristics and attributes of social science researchers in terms of their information use behavior.

From that curricula, text areas(the types and fields, meaning structure) and cognitive strategy(reading methods and skills) are deduced and categorized. In addition to reading techniques reorganized by referring to worksheets of advanced researches, the system of reading strategy contents was made. As the result of applying it to the learning activities of "he Integrated Society" and "he Integrated Science" a subject linkage to learn the learning contents proposed providing a variety of reading materials related to the subject and running extended reading programs.

  • This study was conducted to develop items for evaluating the level of the digitization of libraries. For this purpose, it analyzed the literature related to the digital library, underwent a convergence process of 10 experts, and finally derived an axis of 13 different dimensions comparing the digitization of libraries. The axis is composed of acquisitions, collections (physical and online collections), classification and cataloging, circulation service, reference, user service, SNS service, the library's organization and staff, device providing service, next-generation service, and status of our library. This study conducted a survey of librarians to secure the validation of the primarily derived evaluation items regarding libraries' digitization. As a result, the average rating of the traditional evaluation items was 3.82, and the average rating of the digital evaluation items was 4.08. Therefore, it can be said that the results of this research to evaluate the digitized level of libraries have a certain degree of validity.

The semi-structured interviews with 9 participants were analyzed using Activity Theory. The study results showed that participants have used various tools and interacted with diverse people to attain the goals of e-Book services. In addition, the division of labor and rules related to e-Book services were observable. However, there exist some problems in task performance, such as lack of budget, inconvenience of use due to unstandardized e-Book production, and disagreements of opinions. Furthermore, based on participants' responses, the ways of improvement of e-Book services in academic libraries were suggested in the aspects of content, system, and policy.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine how the content components of information literacy textbooks develop and is to find implications for improving of textbook publication. Three kinds of information literacy textbooks were published sequentially over time. The content components of 『Information and media』(1996) and 『Library and information skills』(2011) are processed by filament structure and 『Information and library』(2002) has a topic-driven project activity. Generally, a small lesson unit of the textbook consisted of three components (learning goals, learning contents, learning activities) and each component in the unit have to make semantic close relationships. However, in some information literacy textbooks, there are cases that the semantic relationship between goals, contents, and activities are cut off. This disconnection cases can be a fatal drawback for the reliability of textbooks, so sufficient attention is needed to develop information literacy textbooks later.

  • This is an exploratory study that examines the publication and use of sex education books for youth and considers their values and applicability to sex education for youth in the future. In-depth interviews were conducted with book editors, sex education experts, and public librarians-those who play important roles in children and young adults' reading of sex education books-and analyzed. According to the research participants, parents and caregivers often rely on sex education books when they find it hard to deliver sex education to their children on their own. Sex education books are also often used by sex education experts in their classes. The research participants said many sex education books that were published in South Korea only focus on 'the body education,' which deals with body changes during puberty. Gender inequality is another subject that needs to be changed. The research participants agreed that a sex education book should not just be a simple medium that delivers fragments of knowledge on sexuality but a broader learning playground where children and young adults can learn independent perspectives on sexuality based on comprehensive views on life. This study suggests a guideline for sexuality education books, which will be useful for library collection development.

  • This paper reports the results of the analysis on the access points of two bibliographic databases specialized in children's materials: "A" public library's online catalog and "N" children's novel database. The analysis particularly focused on the access points that lead users to discover their own needs and on the ways users search and navigate. The findings showed that the selected bibliographic systems supported many access points that were taken from the materials as well as from other relevant information sources and that browsing and navigating with hyperlinks supported the users' 'recognition' of information through 'interactivity' between the users and the systems, 'information encountering,' and 'serendipity.' The findings of this paper have implications for librarians and systems designers who want to develop user-friendly bibliographic systems that give access to children's materials.
