  • This study investigated the influences of group composition in cooperative computer-assisted instruction (CAI) upon students' conceptual understandings, application abilities, learning motivations, and the perceptions of involvement. Seventh graders (N=97) were selected from a co-ed middle school in Seoul, and taught about 'motion of molecules' for 5 class hours. In the two treatment groups with cooperative CAI strategy, homogeneous and heterogeneous small groups were organized by the previous science achievement. Traditional instructions were administered to the comparison group. Two-way ANCOVA results revealed that the scores of the conception test for the treatment groups were significantly higher than those for the comparison group. However, there was no difference between the homogeneous and the heterogeneous groups. The scores of the three groups did not differ significantly in the application test and the learning motivation test. However, the perceptions of involvement for the treatment groups were more positive than those for the comparison group.

  • Using starch gel electrophoresis, ten isozyme loci were examined in nine populations of Euphorbia ebracteolata in Korea. Populations of E. ebracteolata tend to have higher within-population levels of genetic variation (A = 2.2, P = 61.1, He = 0.165) along with low levels of genetic differentiation ($F_{ST}$ = 0.075) compared to previously reported Euphorbia species. The relatively high genetic variation in E. ebracteolata may be due to its long-lived regional distribution and to the outcrossed nature of the species. Low levels of genetic differentiation and the absence of unique alleles in E. ebracteolata populations suggest that Korean populations diverged recently. This study does not support the recognition of var. coreana and for. magna as separate taxa, and suggests that they should be combined with E. ebracteolata.

  • The purpose of this study aimed to analyze the difference of the Sasang constitution type in the relationship between university life stress and mental stress. The data were collected by a self-reported questionnaire from 389 university students and 389 students were classified by QSCC II.(136 So-Eum, 139 So-Yang, 114 Tae-Eum). Multi-group analysis was performed to analyze the differences in the effects of university life stress on mental health according to the type of sasang constitution. Multi-group analysis was performed to analyze the differences in the effects of university life stress on mental health according to the type of sasang constitution. According to multi-group analysis, there were statistically significant differences in the effects of university life stress on mental health across So-Eum-So-Yang, Tae-Eum-So-Yang. Based on these results, a differentiated intervention plan suitable for sasang constitution was proposed.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of cyber bullying prevention education on university students. The subjects were 64 college students and were assigned to experimental group or Comparison group. The experimental group(n = 33) was educated about cyberbullying coping strategies, and the Comparison group(n = 31) was educated about general cyberbullying We used the Basic Emotions Scale, Helplessness Scale, and Competence Scale to confirm the efficacy of the education. Results, Both the experimental group and the Comparison group showed less negative emotions and helplessness after the education than before the education. In the experimental group, competence was significantly higher than the Comparison group. These results suggest that the inclusion of coping strategy is more effective in increasing competence than cyber bullying prevention education. Finally, the limitations of this study were discussed along with suggestions for further research.

  • The case of South Korea's Internet newspapers, harmful advertising is illegal but rampant. The children and youth are not protected, so effective measures are urgently required. Therefore, to achieve self-regulation, a discrimination system model using collective intelligence and collective emotions is proposed. This study is to suggest a Discrimination System Model of harmful contents using collective intelligence and collective emotions as the actual program of self-regulation. The Discrimination System model forms the level of harmful contents by using contents, form, text, size as well as the implied and reminiscent story of image as discriminant factors of a group testing. The formed level is established for harmful contents discriminant criteria after going through the process of generalization again. It can be not clear and ambiguous for internet newspaper banner ads to be measure the level of harmfulness. This Discrimination System will have the strengths of resolving this problem.

  • The purpose of this study is to verify the effect of group counseling program through emotion coaching on the subjective well-being and interpersonal relationship of university students. The study subjects were 24 students at J university, and 12 students were assigned to experimental group and control group respectively. The emotion coaching group counseling program was conducted for two hours, once a week, ten times in all. The subjective well-being and interpersonal relationship test was conducted before and after the test, and the degree of effectiveness was examined through covariance analysis. As a result of the study, the group counseling program of emotional coaching showed meaningful results in subjective well-being and sub-factors such as life satisfaction and positive emotion. In addition, significant differences were found in communication, openness, and sensitivity among sub-factors of interpersonal relationship. The results of this study were as followed. First, the emotional coaching group counseling program improves subjective well-being by improving life satisfaction and positive emotion, and it was proved that it improves the communication in interpersonal relationship, and helps others to understand and openly communicate.

  • The objective of this research is to investigate the attetudes of religious groups(christian, buddhist, atheist) towards corporate social expenditures. Methodology was a questionnair survey. The data analysis was done by the Kruscal Wallis test and Wilcoxon signed ranks test. The results of this rssearch is that the difference of attitudes between christian group and other groups and between religious groups and atheist group on the social expenditures did not turn out to be statistically significant. The implication of this results is that the variables of religious groups can be ignored when we are going to study on the attitudes of values for the Korean people.

  • Viewed from the framework of world system, international migration is connected sometimes to unequal power relations by prejudice and discrimination in destination areas, or to equal power relations by intentional effort for harmonious multiculturalism. According to the existing ethnic relation theory, assimiationism, it is natural that ethnicity is fading away as the foreign immigrants of different ethnic background have long limed in a destination area, and thus the relative urban ethnic places are weakened and finally dissapeared. Through the various examples particularly on the United States, however, ethnicity would not be easily fading-away but be sustained for long time. Also, the characteristics of ethnicity or ethnic place are sometimes reivented or reconstructed as the various situation of multiculturalism is affected by postmodernism. Whether it is the thing made by ethnic segregation or by ethnic congregation, ethnicity and ethnic place are evidently a kind of affluent resources of culture and economy in the destination areas.

  • This study aims to examine how a 12-week sling exercise program has influences on lumbar extension strength and balance ability of 40 middle-aged women consisting of 20 of exrcise group and 20 of control group in order to figure out if it is helpful to lumbar extension strength and balance ability and the summary of the results are as follows. 1. As the results of lumbar extention strength in both the exercise and the control groups, that of the exersie group showed statistically significant improvements in every aspect after 12 weeks while the control group did not show any statistically significant differences. 2. As the results of balance ability in both the exercise and the control groups, all sway area, sway ditance and maximal sway speed of the experiment group showed statistically significant improvements after 12 weeks while the control group did not show any statistically significant differences.

  • Recently, Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) is emerged as a simple yet powerful optimization algorithm for routing and load-balancing of both wired and wireless networks. However, there are few researches trying to adopt ACO to enhance routing performance in WSN owing to difficulties in applying ACO to WSN because of stagnation effect. In this paper, we propose an energy-efficient path selection algorithm based on ACO for WSN. The algorithm is not by simply applying ACO to routing algorithm but by introducing a mechanism to alleviate the influence of stagnation. By the simulation result, the proposed algorithm shows better performance in data propagation delay and energy efficiency over Directed Diffusion which is one of the outstanding schemes in multi-hop flat routing protocols for WSN. Moreover, we checked that the proposed algorithm is able to mitigate stagnation effect than simple ACO adoption to WSN.
