Mathematically Gifted Students' Problem Solving Approaches on Conditional Probability (수학 영재 학생들의 조건부 확률 문제해결 방법)

  • This research intends to look into how mathematically gifted 6th graders (age12) who have not learned conditional probability before solve conditional probability problems. In this research, 9 conditional probability problems were given to 3 gifted students, and their problem solving approaches were analysed through the observation of their problem solving processes and interviews. The approaches the gifted students made in solving conditional probability problems were categorized, and characteristics revealed in their approaches were analysed. As a result of this research, the gifted students' problem solving approaches were classified into three categories and it was confirmed that their approaches depend on the context included in the problem.

The Current State and Challenges of Linked Data in Library Cataloging (편목의 관점에서 본 링크드 데이터: 현황과 과제)

  • With high interest in linked data, there are various attempts to accommodate the linked data model in cataloging process. This study intends to discuss how to adopt and make the best use of linked data based bibliographic framework in order to improve the quality of library catalogs and to enhance library services in Korean libraries. To the end, this study focuses on (1) discussion of the meaning of linked data from the library cataloging perspective, (2) tracking best practices for implementing and operating linked data among North American and Europe libraries and bibliographic networks (in detail, constructing various types of ontology, developing linked data model including BIBFRAME and OCLC linked model, and improving retrieval service and interface), and finally (3) exploring problems and the anticipated challenges to transition to the linked data model in Korea. The data for discussion were collected from literature review and case study.

The Effects of CS Unplugged Education on the Computational Thinking of Gifted and Talented Students (CS 언플러그드 교육이 영재학급 학생의 컴퓨팅 사고력에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is to statistically analyze the correlation between CS Unplugged education and the computational thinking of gifted and talented students. In this study, qualitative research was conducted for 17 students in 5th grade gifted class at an elementary school in the city of Yongin. Students participated in 10 hours of CS unplugged classes. Student questionnaire, class journals, student activity sheets, and student interview records were collected and qualitatively analyzed. In order to supplement the qualitative data, computational thinking ability tests were also administered. The results of the study are as follows. First, CS unplugged education plays an effective role in improving CT of gifted and talented students. Second, it was not every sub-area of CT that CS unplugged education brought statistically significant improvements in. Third, CS unplugged education is suitable to be presented as the first step of the SW curriculum for gifted and talented students.

  • This study is a study on the perceptions of pre-primary early childhood teachers on teaching and learning methods for infants and toddlers in the early childhood teacher training process. This is a mixed study using word cloud analysis and qualitative case analysis on the subject, focusing on literature research and understanding of pre-primary early childhood teachers' 'teaching and learning methods for infants and toddlers'. The purpose of this study was to find out the meaning of a early childhood teacher through thoughts on teaching and learning methods for infants, difficulties, points to be learned, teaching competency to be good as a teacher, and experiences for teaching professionalism. Through the results of this study, it is expected to find a way to increase their sense of efficacy on teaching and learning methods when conducting classes for young children in the future, and to provide basic data for improving the quality of early childhood education.

An Analysis of Organizational System and Management on Small Sized Local Science Museum during the COVID-19 Situation (코로나19 시기에 지방 소규모 과학관의 조직 및 운영 현황 분석)

  • This study conducted qualitative research using Geochang Wolseong Space Creative Science Museum as a case study to investigate the organizational and operational status of small local science museums during the COVID-19 pandemic, as a basic study for the dissemination of scientific culture and public understanding of science. To analyze the situation of the science museum, an evaluation framework was developed, and information obtained through various communication channels and in-depth interviews with information commissioners of the museum were used for the study. As of 2020, when COVID-19 was at its peak, this science museum showed a clear decline in sales and visitor numbers compared to the previous year. Despite this situation, the museum was found to be using crisis management methods such as introducing unface-to-face programs, managing exhibits, and using various promotional media. However, the shortage of professional personnel, excessive workload of employees, and absence of differentiation from other science museums remain as challenges to be addressed in the future for sustainable earth science.

Critical Issues and Practical Strategies in Technology Education: Technology Education Practitioners' Perception in South Korea (기술교육의 쟁점과 실천 전략: 우리나라 기술교육 현장 전문가의 인식)

  • The purpose of this research was to investigate the critical issues and practical strategies that Korean technology teachers perceived. To accomplish the purpose of this study, a qualitative study was conducted to identify critical issues and practical strategies of Korean technology education targeted on Korean technology teachers. A purposeful sampling for choosing technology teachers was used for this study with three selection conditions: 1) 'Excellent Korean technology teacher' award winning teachers, or 2) technology teachers actively involved in both on-line and off-line teachers' association, and 3) leaders in local technology teachers' association. This study conducted exploratory in-depth interviews with selective 15 technology teachers regarding critical issues and practical strategies of Korean technology teachers. The interpretation of the interview content was conducted by two researchers using the thematic analysis which analyzed the frequency of concepts, words, and meanings held from collected data. In the conclusion, critical issues researchers identified were 1) curriculum problems, 2) education environment and facilities problems, 3) teachers' problems, 4) students' problems, 5) related research institution and college problems, 6) social problems. Secondly, Korean technology teachers agreed with following practical strategies 1) separating technology education from home economic education, 2) sharing practices on managing and improving educational environment and laboratory for technology education, 3) actively involving in technology teachers' group, 4) motivating students using hands-on activity 5) improving the quality and the quantity on technology teachers preparatory institution, 6) advertising the values of technology education to the public. Lastly, the positive factors to succeed technology education were 1) technology education satisfying social needs and 2) technology teachers' will or passion toward improving their technology classrooms. The negative factors to hinder technology education were 1) low self-respect of Korean technology teachers and 2) rejection or retarded acceptance toward social transition. Several recommendations based the conclusion were suggested as 1) implementing supplementary study toward selected critical issues and 2) conducting exemplary case studies regarding concrete practical strategies for improving challenges of Korean technology education.

The Experiences of Sexually Abused Women with Intellectual Disability in the Ecosystems Perspective: Focused on Disabled Women Living in Residential Care Facilities (생태체계 관점에서 본 성폭력 피해 지적장애여성의 성폭력 이후의 경험에 대한 연구: 시설거주 장애인을 중심으로)

  • This study attempted to examine how sexually abused women with intellectual disability living in residential care facilities interact with their environment, such as personal life, family and communities, and to identify contextual characteristics and needs of these women. Qualitative case study method was adopted, and data was collected through individual and intake interviews, participant observation and a survey with 11 participants residing in a residential care facility for sexually abused women with intellectual disability. The results showed that participants struggled with stresses and emotional instability affected by traumatic experiences of sexual abuse. Family was a system that sexual abused took place, while the systems of residential facilities protected them from potential dangers and violence. Work and school systems also provided them opportunities of learning and having dreams in the future. However, the community system which participants would live after discharging from the facility, had risk factors vulnerable to sexual violence against participants. In conclusion, this study suggested diverse services and programs, such as professional psychotherapy programs, integrated support programs for victim and their families and provision of professional care facilities.

A Case Study of Five-year-old Popular Child's Behavior Patterns (만5세 또래 인기아의 행동특성에 대한 사례 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to explore five-year-old popular child's behavior patterns through participant observation and to analyze the collected data with qualitative method. One popular child was selected from D child care center of P city in Kyeonggi province. Peer-nomination method was used to select the popular child. Participant observation was conducted from April to November in 2017 through 36 observations in free choice activities. As well as observation records, formal and informal interview records with parents and teachers, parent counseling journals, observation journals, and child's personal records were used to understand the popular child. Three steps, including recording, coding, and making themes, were conducted to analyze the data. The main results of the research were as follows: The behavior patterns of popular child in this study presented both positive and negative sides. The positive behavior patterns included consideration, responsibility, high concentration, and a sense of humor. The negative behavior patterns showed control and exclusion. This study has implications for development of educational program and environment to enhance positive peer relationship.

A Study on the Post-Evaluation of Landscape Design Competition based on Ground Theory - Case of Gwanggyo Lake Park in Korea - (근거이론을 활용한 조경현상설계의 사후평가 - 광교호수공원을 사례로 -)

  • While there have many completions of large parks recently under development, there has been a dearth of quality assessments. Studies focused on post-evaluation have been made to resolve this, but most of these are biased toward user satisfaction after completion and therefore behaviour analysis has limitations on solving problemsduring the actual design implementation processes. Therefore, this study examined the internal phenomenon and structure of the implementation process of design competition through the ground theory and microscopic independent perspective. As a result, maintaining the identity and differentiation of parks derived from the preserved design competition scheme contributed greatly to completeness and satisfaction. Outcomes were mainly caused by the trust of public officials as the ordering organization, the will of policy decision-makers, and the competence of operational enterprises, etc. Negative factors such as undermining the whole concept of the park and landscape occurred as external pressure and related subjects intruded on change design factors due to variations in social conditions. Additionally, illogical construction processes occurred, such as a reinvestigation of the budget for restoration after damaging on original landscape. There have been needs for the improvement of the work processing system. On balance, an interventional role is very important in the park construction process, especially the PA and operation committee in terms of maintaining the basic direction, landscape design supervision for detailed designs, and expert construction management on LA in terms of rational work management in the field. The study, using the microscopic perspective of the designer and ground theory, deliver significant meaning as an early study by suggesting alternative methods for the after-evaluation of large parks and structurally looking into main influence factors driven during the construction process.

A Study of Fashion and Textile Design Education in the UK (영국의 패션 및 직물 디자인 교육에 관한 연구)

  • 우리나라 복식산업의 전문인력 양식은 주로 대학교나 전문학원에서 이루어지고 있으며 수적인면에서는 충분한 인력이 양성되고 있다. 그러나 질적인 면에서 산업체에서 요구되는 역량을 가진 전문인은 부족한 편이다. 이에 따라 산업체의 요구에 부합하는 인력야성을위하여 교육과정의 개선이 절실히 요구되고 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 실기교육 산학협력 및 산업체 현장실습이 활발히 이루어지고 있는 영국의 복식관련학과에 대하여 조사해 봄으로써 우리 교육의 개선방향을 모색하고자 한다. 영구의 경우 다양한 자격증 및 학위과정이 개설되어있으나 본 연구에서는 우리나라 학사학위에 해당되는 BA 및 Bsc만대상으로 하였으며 설문조사 문헌조사 및 사례연구를 통하여 현황 및 교과과정을 분석하였다 영국의 복식관련학과들은 그 교과과정 및 내용에 따라 크게 6개 전공분야로 분류되었으며 각 하과는 다시 세분화되어 전문성이 있는 교육이 이루어지고 있었다 또한 수업연한 및 과정의 형태에 따라 5개 유형으로 분류되었다, 이유형 중 특히 일년간의 현장실습을 학위과정으로 포함시켜 의무적으로 산업체에 근무하도록 되어있는 Sandwic Mode는 적극적인 산학협력의 한 형태로 매우 효율적으로 평가되는 교육체계이며 여러다른 학문 분야에서도 널리 활용되고 있는 체계이다. 교수진의 경우 전임교원이 수적인 면에서 다소 부족한 것으로 나타났으나 관련 산업체 인사 등을 시간강사로 고용함으로써 이를 보완 할 뿐 아니라 산학연계를 이루고 있었다. 또한 전임교원의 경우 주로 학사 혹은 석사의 학력을 가지고있었다. 그러나 모든 전임교수 뿐 아니라 시간강사의 경우도 산업체 경력을 필수 적으로 가지고있어 고학력위주의 우리나라 실정과는 매우 상이했다. 교과과정에 대한 사례연구에서 직물디자인에 집중된 2개 과의 교과과정을 보았으며 그중 한 개 과는 다시 편물 프린트 및 직물 디자인의 3분야로 세분화되어 심도 있는 교육이 이루어질 수 있는 것을 살펴보았다 또한 다른 3개의 예에서 볼수있듯이 2개 이상의 전공코스를 도입하여 공통과목과 전공 코스 과목을 둠으로써 시설 및 인적 자원의 활용 등 운영상 효율성을 추구함을 알수 있었다 또한 학생들의 경우 전문화된 코스의 선택을 할수 있게 하였다 이런 실례는 전문인력양성이 매우 필요하고 따라서 전공코스제의 도입의 필요성이 대두되고 있는 이시점에서 매우 유용하게 이용될수 있으리라고 생각된다. 영구의 교육이 우리나라 실정에 그대로 적용될 수는 없지만 본 연구 결과를 바탕으로 다음과 같은 시사점을 고려하여 우리교육을 개선해 나갈 수 있으리라고 생각한다. 첫째 교수진 인적 물적상황 및 지역적 상황등을 분석하여 각 대학별로 그 특성에 맞는 세분화되고 심도있는 전공교육과정을 개발 발전시켜 야 할 것이다 둘째 산업체 방문 산업체인사와의 면담 및 특강 등 산학협력을 좀더 적극적으로 모색하여야 할 것이다. 셋째 학생들의 산업체 현장 연수를 실질적으로 도입하여 산업체의 인력요구에 적극적으로 대처 할수 있어야 하겠다.
