Analysis of orbit control for allocation of small SAR satellite constellation (초소형 SAR 위성군의 배치를 위한 궤도 제어 분석)

  • This paper presents the orbital control for positioning micro synthetic aperture radar (SAR) satellites for all-weather monitoring around the Korean Peninsula. In Small SAR technology experimental project (S-STEP) developed in Korea, multiple satellites are placed at equal intervals in multiple orbital planes to secure an average revisit period for the region around the Korean Peninsula. Satellites entering the same orbital plane use ion thrusters to control their orbits and the separation velocity from the launch vehicle to distribute them evenly across the orbit. For an orbital that places the satellites equally spaced in the same orbital plane, the shape of the satellite constellation is formed by adjusting the difference in drift rates between the satellites. This paper presents, different types of satellite constellations, and the results of satellite constellation placement according to launch strategies are presented. In addition, a method and limitations in shortening the duration of orbital deployment are presented.

An Interrogator for Active Acquisition of Airspace in Active Multilateration (능동적 공역확보를 위한 다변측정 감시시스템용 질문기)

  • This paper is concerned with an interrogator capable of constructing a interrogation scenario for acquiring active airspace to the intruding aircraft into the surveillance area of the MLAT system. In the MLAT system, the interrogator is an important device used to carry out the interrogation towards the aircraft within the surveillance airspace in the appropriate surveillance scenario. Unlike a conventional SSR's interrogation methods that interrogate for airplanes flying within a certain range, the MLAT system requires a interrogation system that can actively interrogate from remote to near range, or according to operational scenarios, for aircraft intruding into the surveillance range. The interrogator implemented in this paper can be used for interrogating and monitoring aircraft within each surveillance airspace using whisper-shout algorithm according to varying output power based on the actual operation distance.

  • This paper demonstrates the in-vehicle dilemma zone warning system (DZWS) project developed as a part of the Driver Advisory and Collision Warning System in Automated Vehicle and Highway System (AVHS). The DZWS project, one of the Korea national ITS projects in 2000 develops the in-vehicle warning device to support drivers' decision making on whether to stop or to proceed to clear the intersection prior to the onset of yellow signal for avoiding the high risk of collision at signalized intersections through the dedicated short range communication (DSRC). This paper explores the design of optimal communication systems between roadway and vehicles, the operational and functional concepts of dilemma zone warning system based on appropriate approach speeds, and the system integration for field test at two sites of signalized intersections. Findings from the system integration indicated that the system would be implemented in eliminating the dilemma zone relative to approach speeds and in reducing red light violations and intersection collisions through the in-vehicle warning device at signalized intersection.

  • 고속도로의 교통혼잡을 관리하기 위해서는 근본적으로 혼잡지점 상류부의 진입교통량을 제어해야 한다. 이를 위한 효과적인 램프미터링 운영전략이나 고속도로 교통정보제공방안을 수립하기 위해서는 혼잡영향권(대기행렬길이)에 관한 신뢰성 있는 데이터가 반드시 필요하다. 고속도로의 대기행렬길이를 산정하기 위해 일반적으로 충격파이론과 Queueing이론을 제시하고 있다. 그러나, 기존의 충격파 이론을 포물선형의 교통량-밀도관계식을 근거로 하고 있어 충격파간에 발생하는 부수적인 충격파를 해석하는 과정이 수학적으로 불가능하여 실질적인 목적으로 사용할 수 없음은 이미 잘 알고 있는 사실이다. 최근에 이러한 한계를 극복할 수 있는 새로운 방법으로 교통량 밀도간의 관계식을 삼각형으로 가정하고 교통량 대신에 누적교통량을 사용하는 Simplified Theory of Kinematic Waves In Highway Traffic이 개발(Newell, 1993)되었지만, 이 방법을 적용하기 위해서는 기본적으로 대상 고속도로 구간의 교통량-밀도관계식을 규명해야 하는 어려움이 있다.(사실 실시간으로 밀도데이터를 수집하기란 불가능하다.) Queueing이론에서 제시하는 대기행렬은 모두 대기차량이 병목지점에 수직으로 정렬하여 도로를 점유하지 않는 Point Queue(혹은 Vertical stack Queue)로서 실제로 도로상에 정렬된 대기행렬(Real Physical Queue)과는 전혀 다르다. 이미 입증된 바 있어, Queueing이론을 이용함은 타당성이 없다. 이러한 사실에 근거하여 본 연구는 고속도로 대기행렬길이를 산정할 수 있는 모형개발을 위한 기초연구로서 혼잡상태의 연속류 특성을 분석하는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해, 본 연구에서는 서울시 도시고속도로에서 수집한 실제 데이터를 이용하여 진입램프지점의 혼잡상태에서 대기행렬의 증가 또는 감소하는 과정을 분석하였다. 주요 분석결과는 다음과 같다. 1. 혼잡초기의 대기행렬은 다른 혼잡시기에 비해 상대적으로 급속한 속도로 증가함. 2. 혼잡초기의 대기행렬의 밀도는 다른 혼잡시기에 비해 비교적 낮음. 3. 위의 두 결과는 서로 관계가 있으며, 혼잡시 운전자의 행태(차두간격)과 혼잡기간중에도 변화함을 의미함. 4. 교통변수 중에서 대기행렬길이를 산정하는데 적합한 교통변수를 교통량과 밀도로 판단됨. 5. Queueing이론에서 제시하는 대리행렬길이 산정방법인 대기차량대수$\times$평균차두간격은 대기행렬내 밀도가 일정하지 않아 부적합함을 재확인함. 6. 혼잡초기를 제외한 혼잡기간 중 대기행렬길이는 밀도데이터 없이도 혼잡 상류부의 도착교통량과 병목지점 본선통과교통량만을 이용하여 추정이 가능함. 7. 이상에 연구한 결과를 토대로, 고속도로 대기행렬길이를 산정할 수 있는 기초적인 도형을 제시함.

Analysis Study of Liquid Apogee Engine Plume for Geostationary Satellite (정지궤도위성 궤도전이용 액체원지점엔진의 배기가스 해석 연구)

  • The geostationary satellite uses a liquid apogee engine, to obtain a required velocity increment to enter a geostationary orbit. However, as the liquid apogee engine operates in the vacuum, a considerable disbursement of exhaust plume flow, from the liquid apogee engine can trigger a backflow. As this backflow may possibly collide with the satellite directly, it can cause adverse effects such as surface contamination, thermal load, and altitude disturbance, that can generate performance reduction of the geostationary satellite. So, this study investigated exhaust plume behavior of 400 N grade liquid apogee engine numerically. To analyze exhaust plume behavior in vacuum condition, the DSMC (Direct Simulation Monte Carlo) method based on Boltzmann equation is used. As a result, thermal fluid characteristics of exhaust plume such as temperature and number density, are observed.

  • The network ingress filtering is a simple and efficient method for preventing IP source spoofing of fixed nodes. Since mobile hosts cannot communicate with its correspondent nodes if the network ingress filtering is configured in mobile IPv4 network, reverse tunneling was considered as a method for avoiding network ingress filtering. But, unfortunately this method does not solve IP source spoofing of mobile nodes. In this paper, we propose a simple and efficient method for preventing IP source spoofing of mobile nodes assuming that only the mobile hosts connected to foreign agents and the network that foreign agent manages is small.

Robot Navigation Control using Laserscanner to Restrict Human Movement (인간행동제약을 위한 레이저파인더 기반의 로봇주행제어)

  • In this research, we describe a security robot system and ongoing research results to control human's wrong direction in order to forbid human to enter security zone. Proposed robot system surveils a security area with equipped laserscanner sensor usually. When it detect walking human who is for the area, robot calculates his velocity vector, plans own path to forestall and interrupts him who want to head restricted area and starts to move along the estimated trajectory. The walking human is assumed to be a point-object and projected onto an scanning plane to form a geometrical constraint equation that provides position data of the human based on the kinematics of the mobile robot. While moving the robot continues these processes for adapting change of situation. After arriving at an opposite position human's walking direction, the robot advises him not to be headed more and change his course. The experimental results of estimating and tracking of the human in the wrong direction with the mobile robot are presented.

  • This paper describes an IEEE 802.15.4-based hierarchical sensor network model for a VAWS(Vehicle Approach Warning System) which provides the drivers of vehicles approaching a sharp turn with the information about vehicles approaching the same turn from the opposite end. In the proposed network model, a tree-structured topology, that can prolong the lifetime of network is formed in a self-organizing manner by a topology control protocol. A simple but efficient routing protocol, that creates and maintains routing tables based on the network topology organized by the topology control protocol, transports data packets generated from the sensor nodes to the base station which then forwards it to a display processor. These protocols are designed as a network layer extension to the IEEE 802.15.4 MAC. In the simulation, which models a scenario with a sharp turn, it is shown that the proposed network model achieves a high-level performance in terms of both energy efficiency and throughput simultaneously.

3D Image Scan Automation Planning based on Mobile Rover (이동식 로버 기반 스캔 자동화 계획에 대한 연구)

  • When using conventional 3D image scanning methods, it is common for image scanning to be done manually, which is labor-intensive. Scanning a space made up of complicated equipment or scanning a narrow space that is difficult for the user to enter, is problematic, resulting in quality degradation due to the presence of shadow areas. This paper proposes a method to scan an image using a rover equipped with a scanner in areas where it is difficult for a person to enter. To control the scan path precisely, the 3D image remote scan automation method based on the rover move rule definition is described. Through the study, the user can automate the 3D scan plan in a desired manner by defining the rover scan path as the rule base.

Selection of Expressway Ramp Metering Sites and Priority Making (고속도로 램프미터링 도입지점 및 우선순위 선정)

  • In spite of the proven effectiveness of ramp metering system, it has not been successfully implemented in Korean setting. The purpose of this paper is to select target locations to introduce ramp metering into the Korean expressway system. For this, domestic standards to introduce ramp metering have been presented after reviewing those of the US. The major criteria are level of service (LOS), the existence of detour route, space for queue build-up and opened ramp. 15 different locations were selected and AHP has been used to make priority among them. Intuitively, the result of priority was in accordance with the congestion and traffic volume. The core results identified in this paper is expected to be used in different cities and expressway networks elsewhere.
