A self-administered survey was conducted in dental hygiene students at colleges or universities in Daegu and North Gyeongsang Province to provide basic data necessary to suggest standards for the direction of career for dental hygiene students and construct desirable image of dental hygienists. The data were collected from February to May 2013; with the exception of 46 questionnaires containing insincere responses, 1,679 were finally analyzed using SPSS/Win 18.0, drawing the following conclusion: The freshmen showed higher levels of regret for selection and enrollment recommendation than the sophomores, juniors, or seniors and the sophomores, juniors, and seniors showed higher levels of willingness to change courses than the freshmen; thus, those in lower grades showed higher environment satisfaction. As for desired career, regardless of grades, they showed higher preference for being employed as a dental hygienist; as for desired paths to get a job, the freshmen were more likely to get professors' recommendations and the sophomores, juniors, and seniors showed higher preference for open recruitment. They showed higher preference for getting a job in a large city because of greater possibility of improvement. As for the desired period of employment, regardless of grades, they showed higher preference for employment before getting married and for reemployment after their children grew up; as for desired workplace, the freshmen showed higher preference for a dental clinic in a hospital, whereas the sophomores, juniors, and seniors showed higher preference for a dental hospital. As for the differences in image of dental hygienists by grades, the freshmen and sophomores showed higher levels of attitudes than the juniors; the freshmen and sophomores showed higher levels of beliefs than the juniors or seniors; and the seniors showed higher levels of values than the freshmen, sophomores, or juniors, and the sophomores and juniors showed higher levels of values than the freshmen; thus, students in lower grades showed higher levels of attitudes and beliefs and those in higher grades showed higher levels of values. Such factors of enrollment satisfaction as willingness to change courses and persuasion to make enrollment had significant effects on image of dental hygienists. Dental hygiene students need to make efforts to establish a job identity and get desirable image of dental hygienists and to make constant efforts to promote more accurate and positive image of dental hygienists through systematic and positive public relations.
This paper analyzed the effect of job search channels on the occupational adaptation of college graduates, with the Graduates Occupational Mobility Survey(GOMS) data. The analysis results are as follows: First, when using human networks for getting jobs, not only the educational level and major adequacy, but also the workplace satisfaction and the job satisfaction were higher than when using non-human networks. Second, as in the mediating effect of the relationship between job search channels and occupational adaptation by Sobel-test, it was found that there was a partial mediating effect of educational level and major adequacy, excluding skill level adequacy. The results of this study shows that human networks, by serving as an effective information transmitter on person-job fit between job search and recruitment, contribute significantly to improve occupational adaptation of college graduates. These results imply that strategic utilization of human networks in job search activities is important, and that it is necessary that career-related programs in the universities or the employment service institutions systematically include the importance and methods of using human networks.
The purpose of this study was to analyze the satisfaction and needs from the student's point of view to improve the quality of university liberal arts curriculum in preparation for the 4th Industrial Revolution. The data of 333 students at K University located in Chungcheongnam-do were analyzed for satisfaction by factors using the CIPP model and the needs by IPA. As a result of the study, first, the student's satisfaction with CIPP was 3.38 on average and in the order of Process(3.49)> Input(3.40)> Product(3.34)> Context(3.30). Second, the priority of needs was 1) the needs of the social change and the students, 2) competent faculty and a suitable environment, 3) novel contents. Third, the factors affecting the overall satisfaction were the novel educational contents, operating methods and reflecting needs, and the factors affecting the intention of recommendation were student growth and career, core competencies and educational goals and organization. The results of this study can be used as basic data for the organization and operation policy of the liberal arts curriculum reflecting the voices of students.

Methods. The investigator conducted a survey targeting 253 students attending on dental hygiene departments in two 3-year-graduate colleges and 1 university located in Busan from May 1st to May 30th, 2013. The used research instruments were the major satisfaction questionnaire and the Career Decision-Making Self-Efficacy Scale Short Form(CDMSES-SF). The survey was conducted in self-administered questionnaire. The data was analyzed with SPSS (ver 12.0) and also conducted t-test, ANOVA and multi-regression analysis. Results. It was found that self-efficacy level of students in dental hygiene department was $3.22{\pm}0.38$ point, and their major satisfaction level was $3.27{\pm}0.47$ point. The factors enhancing the self-efficacy of students in dental hygiene department at deciding their careers were identified as the curriculum satisfaction, the relationship satisfaction, and the recognition satisfaction. It was identified that more these elements were increased, the higher the self-efficacy level was enhanced. Conclusions. In order to enhance the self-efficacy of students in dental hygiene department at deciding their careers, it is considered that the curriculum should be organized carefully under reasonable plan, and there should be more active communication between professors and students as well as students each other. Besides there needs some educational programs to inspire the pride and sense of duty for the dental hygiene department.
This study was conducted to determine the effect of major-related volunteering on self-esteem and self-efficiency in fifty three university students who are majoring in occupational therapy. Students volunteered for 20 days in the geriatric service center for dementia from July 27, 2009 to August 21, 2009. Questionnaire survey was conducted to determine the difference in, self-efficiency, career awareness before and after the volunteering. Student showed satisfaction to volunteer program in general, and self-esteem and self-efficiency improved from $29.43{\pm}2.51$ point and $30.45{\pm}3.41$ point to $31.66{\pm}2.63$ point and $33.26{\pm}3.93$ point, respectively. In addition, subjects expressed comfort toward occupational therapy and were able to recognize how to prepare the role of occupational therapist after graduation. These results indicates that occupational therapy-related volunteering was effective in understanding occupational therapy and improving career awareness.
This study evaluated methods of improving sustained learning participation by examining the structural relationship of school support consisting of professor support, friend-senior support and educational environment support, career decisionmaking self-efficacy, school satisfaction, and learning persistence depending on the characteristics of college students majoring in culinary art and food service. The study findings were as follows. First, the general characteristics of college students majoring in culinary art and food service were perceived significantly more by female students than by male students. Second, school support directly influenced the career decision-making self-efficacy and school satisfaction, but did not directly influence the learning persistence. Instead, school support influenced school satisfaction and learning persistence indirectly by the medium of career decision-making self-efficacy. Third, career decision-making self-efficacy directly influenced school satisfaction and learning persistence and indirectly influenced learning persistence by the medium of school satisfaction. Lastly, school satisfaction directly influenced the learning persistence, implying that school satisfaction is an important factor for the learning persistence of college students majoring in culinary art and food service. These results show that, because school members and environmental support cannot exclusively make learning persistence, diverse systems and programs must be developed and applied to improve the career decision-making self-efficacy and school satisfaction of college students majoring in culinary art and food service.
This is descriptive research aimed at determining the relations with appearance satisfaction and self-efficacy in controlling job-seeking stress and at providing basic data necessary to decide on an education direction for better career maturity and explore psychological resources. For data collection, convenience sampling was performed among dental hygiene students consenting to participate in the research in Chungcheong and Jeolla Provinces to complete a self-administered questionnaire from November 25 to December 13, 2019. Appearance satisfaction was positively correlated with self-efficacy and was negatively correlated with job-seeking stress; self-efficacy was negatively correlated with job-seeking stress. The factors affecting job-seeking stress were self-efficacy, appearance satisfaction, and major satisfaction. It would be necessary to develop a practical counseling program targeting the combination of positive appearance acceptance and improvement in self-efficacy on the basis of correct aesthetic values with the objective of reinforcing job-seeking competence intensively among dental hygiene majors.
The purpose of this study had been conducted to figure out the relationship of DISC typy behavioral patterns between major satisfaction and job preference. The survey in this subject had been carried out for 192 dental hygiene students from April 1 to 10, 2019. The findings were as follows: Among the sub-factors of major satisfaction based on DISC typy behavioral patterns, S type is higher in the contents of instruction and the way of teaching, the type C and S are higher in school facilities and environments. Among the sub-factors of job preference based on DISC typy behavioral patterns, the type D is higher in honor, development and stability, the type S is higher in aptitude, interest, development, stability and working environment, and the type C is higher in aptitude and interest. As DISC typy behavioral patterns, major satisfaction, and job preference were found to be related to one another, this finding should be considered when teaching career guidance for college students.
The purpose of this study was to compare the demographic and job characteristics and job satisfaction of sonographers (SONO) and radiological technologists (RT). The subjects were a total of 148 people (69 SONO, 79 RT), who had been working in clinical and hospitals. The method was conducted using a questionnaire with a total of 54 questions consisting of demographic characteristics, job characteristics, and job satisfaction. Reliability was secured with Cronbach's alpha coefficient of 0.6 or higher for the response of the questionnaire. For statistical analysis, descriptive statistics, cross-analysis, independent sample T-test, and correlation analysis using Pearson's correlation coefficient and Spearman's correlation coefficient were performed for each occupation. As a result, first, the SONO had more female workers than RT. They are more than three times as many in graduate school and above. Second, the SONO had 4.5 times more morning shift than the RT and no form of weekend shift. Third, the average monthly salary of the SONO is higher than that of the RT, but when a certain portion of the salary goes up, the salary no longer goes up. Fourth, satisfaction with expectations, growth desire, positive mentality, growth opportunity, job importance, organizational attachment was higher SONO than the RT, but self-efficacy was higher in RT than SONO. Last, SONO had higher educational background than RT. It is hoped that the results of this study will be able to understand the job characteristics of SONO and RT and identify the factors of job satisfaction and provide them as fundamental materials for job selection.
