  • Korea is a rapidly industrializing nation. As a consequence, more mothers are working outside the home. This trend is likely to continue into the future and raises the problem of infant-toddler care during the mother's working hours. Considering that Korea is making such rapid economic advances, quality care for children of working mothers Is not only desirable but affordable as well. Variety in options for child care is recommended by Beck (1982). Some of the alternatives in child care have been discussed elsewhere (KWDI, 1984). This paper, thus, concentrated on center-based, worksite child care. Because the human environment is the most important aspect of the center, qualified staff and a low ratio of children per staff member is Vital. Philosophy of program and its actualization ensures that the children have a worthwhile experience at the center. The physical plant houses the center and includes provision for space, materials, and equipment for staff and child use in carrying out the program. Adequate health protection is a critical factor in infant-toddler group care programs.

  • This study was intended to examine various work and environmental variables explaining newcomers' turnover intentions. Data were collected from 901 newcomers using online survey. Results of multiple regression analyses showed that individual-job fit, reward dissatisfaction, fringe benefit dissatisfaction, vision in organization, participation in decision making, realistic job preview, leader dissatisfaction, co-worker relationship and work environment explained significant variances of turnover intentions. Data were classified into full-time and part time employees based on employment type and into a large and a small-medium company based on company size. There were small differences in significant variables explaining turnover intentions based on company size as well as employment type. Finally implications and future research were discussed.

  • This study examines whether and how ages of child affect accessibility experiences of women and men differently. Space-time accessibility measures based on Time-geographic framework with activity-travel diary datasets in Portland Metro, US were calculated using GIS-based geocomputation, and spatial-temporal patterns of accessibility of dual-earner couples by ages of their youngest child were compared. The results are as follows. (1) Although more women than men work part-time, which would render women more spatial-temporal autonomy, accessibility levels of women are not higher than men's. It implies that there exists another constraint placed on women which largely stems from gender inequality. (2) It is distinctively women with child under age 6 of which accessibility spaces are found to be restricted doser to home compared to men. Women with no child or with child aged over 6, however, show more or less similar spatial-temporal patterns of accessibility with men's which are quite unvarying regardless of parental status and their child age. Women's accessibility experiences characterized by spatial-temporal entrapment, thus, can be seen as problems associated with gender rather than sex. (3) Intensified spatial-temporal entrapment of women with young child are associated with the significant spatial pegs shaping their accessibility spaces, which are located much closer to home compared to men's: workplaces and child's daycare centers.

The data was collected from 273 non-managerial workers in various domestic companies. Confirmatory factor analysis was conducted with AMOS 22 to verify the reliability and validity of the measurement tool, and the mediating and moderating effects were examined using SPSS Process Macro to verify the hypothesis. The results of this study are summarized as follows. First, emotion recognition of employees indirectly affects the acceptance of negative feedback through adaptive cognitive emotional regulation. Second, the effect of emotion recognition on negative feedback acceptance is moderated by supervisor's emotion regulation. Specifically, it was confirmed that when the supervisor's emotional control is low, the relationship between emotional recognition and negative feedback acceptance becomes stronger. Finally, based on the research results, the academic significance of this study, implications in coaching practice, limitations, and future research were discussed.

  • Evaluation of the sacrum in anorectal malformations (ARMs) is important because there is an association between sacral abnormalities and poor functional outcome after corrective surgery for ARM. Sacral defects are not easily detected because of immaturity of sacrum in children and defects are often overlooked by pediatric surgeons. The authors utilized the sacral ratio in normal children (N=61) and patients with ARMs (N=26). In normal children, the mean true sacral ratio and mean sacrococcygeal ratio were $0.60{\pm}0.08$ and $0.72{\pm}0.13$ respectively. The sacral ratio was not correlated with age and did not changed with age in the same patient. However, true sacral ratio and sacrococcygeal ratio were significantly lower in patients with high type ARMs than those of normal children (p<0.001). There was no difference between patients with low type ARMs and normal children. These results suggest that abnormal sacrums are more frequently encountered in patients with high type ARMs than in normal children, and that true sacral ratio and sacrococcygeal ratio can be used in the evaluation of the abnormal sacrum.
