Career Cognition, Key Competency, Vocational Values of University Students and Junior College Students (대학생의 진로 관련 인식, 직업기초능력, 직업가치)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze career cognition, key competency, vocational values of university students and junior college students. The study was carried out through questionnaire survey method. The population sample for the study constituted 368 completed questionnaires from sample of 373 freshmen-women of university and students. A survey questionnaire consisted of career cognition items, key competency scale, vocational values scale, and personal characteristics items. The construct validity of key competency scale and vocational values scale were confirmed by factor analysis with varimax rotation. Both descriptive and inferential statistics were employed for data analysis. Major findings of this study were as follows: First, university students and junior college students most wanted to get a job after graduate. Many students decided their career at high school days. Many students were not prepared for their career after graduate. They recognized that major curriculum of university and junior college was very helpful to prepare their career. And many students discussed with their parents about their career. Second, key competency of them was moderately high. In the items of key competencies, 'communication and following' was the highest. And key competency of university students was better than that of junior college students. Key competency of male students was better than that of female students. Third, vocational values of them were high. In the items of vocational values, 'occupational stability' was the highest, and 'work in freedom and challenge' was the lowest. 'Occupational stability' and 'work in freedom and challenge' of junior college students was higher than that of university students. And 'occupational stability' of female students was higher than that of male students.

A Study on the Correlation between Major Education and Occupational Value Perception of Physical Therapy College Students (물리치료학과 대학생의 전공 교육과 직업가치 인식의 상관성 연구)

  • This study aimed to discover the satisfaction of physical therapy students' major education and the perception of the occupational value of physical therapists and provided basic data to be used for career guidance of college students majoring in physical therapy. A questionnaire survey was conducted online to collect data on participants' general characteristics, motivation for joining the Department of Physical Therapy, satisfaction with their academic majors, and perception of occupational and social value of physical therapy. Using SPSS version 28, frequency and correlation analyses were undertaken and a Chi-square test performed for 174 respondents. As a result of the study, there was no significant difference in major education satisfaction according to gender and grade with as each p-value .368, .685. There was a significant difference in perception of job value according to gender as a p-value .032, and there was no significant difference in the p-value according to gender of .463. There was no significance difference in social job perception according to gender and grade with as each p-value .483, .077. There was positive correlation with the correlation coefficient of .483 that analyzed the level of perception of occupational value of physical therapists according to satisfaction of major education. In conclusion, students's high satisfaction with their academic majors exhibited considerable correlation with their perceived high occupational value of physical therapy. It is believed that these results can be used in career guidance for college students majoring in physical therapy.

The Effects of Self-Efficacy and Occupational Value on the Major Satisfaction of Students Majoring in Childcare (보육전공 학생들의 자기효능감과 직업가치가 전공만족도에 미치는 영향)

  • The study objective was to understand the effects of self-efficacy and occupational value on the major satisfaction of pre-service childcare teachers. A questionnaire survey was conducted targeting 281 pre-service childcare teachers in A city. In the study results, first, pre-service childcare teachers highly perceived the self-regulatory efficacy and confidence of self-efficacy, the intrinsic value of occupational value, and the general satisfaction and perception satisfaction of major satisfaction. Second, there were statistically significant correlations between self-efficacy, occupational value, and major satisfaction of pre-service childcare teachers. Third, the self-efficacy and occupational value of pre-service childcare teachers had positive effects on the major satisfaction. Based on these study results, there should be more diverse research for the formation of proper self-efficacy and correct occupational value, so that students majoring in childcare could perceive the importance of major satisfaction and also perform their childcare jobs with high-quality.

The Effects of Teaching Professional Ethics on the Occupational Value and Educational Belief of Preservice Childcare Teachers (예비보육교사들의 교직윤리의식이 직업가치와 교육적신념에 미치는 영향)

  • The objective of this study was to understand factors of occupational ethics affecting occupational value and educational belief of preservice childcare teachers. In order to achieve this objective, a questionnaire survey was conducted targeting a total of 270 preservice childcare teachers in A city. Study results found that preservice childcare teachers highly perceived the ethics in young children and family out of the occupational ethics, the intrinsic value out of the occupational value, and the maturism and interactionism out of the educational belief. Second, the occupational ethics, occupational value, and educational belief of preservice childcare teachers showed statistically significant correlations. Third, the occupational ethics of preservice childcare teachers had positive effects on the occupational value and educational beliefs. Based on these results, it is necessary to conduct diverse research studies for the formation of clear and appropriate occupational values and positive educational beliefs, so that childcare providers could perceive the importance of occupational ethics and provide high-quality childcare services.

A Study on the Occupational Value and Job Choice Intention of University Students in Healthcare Management (의료경영계열 대학생의 직업가치와 직업선택의도에 대한 연구)

  • This study is a descriptive survey study using a self-reported survey method to find out the job value and intention of career choice of college students in the medical management field. This study was conducted on university students in medical management at three four-year universities located in Busan Metropolitan City. A total of 139 effective questionnaires were used as statistical analysis data. As a result of the analysis, social dedication and stability were significantly displayed in the selection of jobs for hospital administration and administrative positions, and social dedication and stability were significantly displayed in the selection of jobs as medical recorders. In choosing a career as an international medical tourism coordinator, the focus on human relations, maintaining face, and pursuing stability have been significant. Only social commitment was significantly shown in the choice of occupation as a health educator. A comparison of job values according to general characteristics showed that there was a difference in the pursuit of knowledge and social commitment. In the case of grades, there was a difference in social dedication and stability. There was no significant difference in the case of religious or non-religious matters. In the case of economic level, only economic priorities differed. Through this study, we would like to present basic data so that college students in medical management who prepare to take the first step into a professional medical management society can recognize the need for recognition of job value and move in a better direction in choosing a job.

  • We have developed art and career convergence class for career recognition through drawing a neighborhood job map. Thus, we want to expand the students' career recognition. 3 Classes were conducted in 16 elementary school students from 5th to 6th. Through pre & post-questionnaire, and the interviews with the students' work, job recognition with job value and job prejudice, self-understanding and career attitude were analyzed. As follows. First, students' job recognition was expanded. The ability to identify the needs, values and purposes of jobs has improved. Changes in job values that all jobs are worth have occurred and job bias has changed. Second, the career attitude changed on the basis of self-understanding. Thus, in the context of deciding the job demanded by the society rather than the student's will, art and career convergence class was effective in career recognition.

College Life Adjustment Factors Affecting the Work Values of Public Health Major Student (보건의료행정 전공 대학생의 직업가치에 영향을 미치는 대학생활적응 요인)

  • This study aims to examine the effects of adjustment factors to college life on the work values of public health major students. We sampled 530 undergraduate students majoring in public health administration and engineering from Kyunggi-do, and analyzed the data using t-test, correlation and regression methods obtained from SPSS Win 21.0 software. We found that (1) a student's intrinsic work value is positively related to their adjustment to college life factors but extrinsic work value is positively related to 'professor-student interaction', 'college life satisfaction' and 'expectation for the service college'; (2) 'social integration', 'professor-student interaction' and 'expectation for the service college' influenced to intrinsic work value; (3) 'career identity', 'family support', and 'college life satisfaction' influenced to extrinsic work value. Based on the results of this study, that the improvement of adjustment to college life factors influence on the work values were discussed.

  • 우리나라 선원은 해방기 이후 외화가득의 주역이며 비상시 군수물자를 운송할 수 있는 사회경제적으로 가치 있는 직업이나 최근 선원 직업의 사회적 인식이 다소 부정적이고, 예전처럼 젊은 선원의 유입이 높지 않은 편이다. 본 연구는 일반 대중을 대상으로 Q 방법론을 활용하여 선원의 직업을 어떻게 인식하는지 그 이미지 유형과 특성을 분석하였다. Q 방법론에 의한 선원 직업 이미지 인식은 3개 유형으로 분류되었고 우리나라 선원에 대한 대중의 인식은 부정적이였다. 이러한 연구 결과를 바탕으로 해운산업의 핵심 인적자원인 선원의 안정적으로 확보하고 선원 종사자들의 직업적 만족도와 취업률을 높이기 위해서는 대중들이 인식한 선원의 부정적 직업 이미지를 전환할 수 있는 다양한 방안을 마련해야 할 것이다.

The Effect of Self-efficacy and Occupational Value on Major Satisfaction in Dental Hygiene Students (치위생학 전공 대학생들의 자기효능감과 직업가치가 전공만족도에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of self-efficacy and occupational value in major satisfaction in dental hygiene students. The subjects were 236 dental hygiene students in Gyeonggi-do and Chungcheongnam-do. They filled out self-reported questionnaires that consisted of general characteristics of subject, self-efficacy, occupational value, and major satisfaction. Data were analyzed using SPSS WIN 18.0 and Amos. V18. Sophomore's curriculum satisfaction and perceive satisfaction were higher than freshman's. Group of high self-efficacy was higher than average and low groups in major satisfaction. Group of internal occupational value was higher than group of external and neutral occupational value in curriculum satisfaction, perception satisfaction, and total major satisfaction. The most effective factor on major satisfaction of dental hygiene students was self-efficacy.

  • This study was undertaken to better understand the professional recognition of the food service industry of college students in food service realted majors based on characteristics of the respondents In order to achieve the purpose of the study, 211 questionnaire surveys were colelcted in the period from May 19 to May 30, 2014. The study conducted regression analysis by using SPSS Win18.0 package, for frequency analysis, exploratory factor analysis, analysis of reliability, correlation analysis tests, t-test, andone way ANOVA. Measure of occupation self-esteem, positive values, social reputation, negatively handled, relatively effectively configuration, each construct was to ensure reliable and statistically significant relevance. The results were analyzed by the difference factor of occupation self-esteem according to demographic characteristics, depending on gender, has confirmed that the perceived social reputation in a different way, depending on the differences in grade, to verify that you are aware of the positive values in a different way. Also Department has been analyzed with the degree of cognitive differ for positive values and negative treatment in accordance with, understand that it perceives the relative effects and negative treatment in accordance with the future desired profession in a different way. This suggests that there is a need to find ways to satisfaction and career decision level of major occupational self-esteem is high is to raise the occupational self-esteem major of food service industry college students based on the results of previous research get higher. In particular, I would like to emphasize that there is a need provide a substantial improvement on the negative treatment and the most negative recognize and social reputation is for the work of the food service industry.
