The purpose of this study was to analyze the effects of aerobic exercise and black garlic intake on blood lipids, lipid peroxidation and BAP in rats. The subjects for the study were 25 male Sprague-Dawley rats composed of the control group (CG, n=6), exercise group (EG, n=6), which trained for 4 weeks (30-60 min/day, speed at 15 m/min), black garlic intake group (BGG, n=7), and exercise with black garlic intake group (EBGG, n=6). Blood lipids, lipid peroxidation, and BAP were measured in all the subjects after the end of the 4 week treadmill exercise period. The findings of this study were as follows; TC and TG were significantly lower in the EBGG compared to other groups, while there were no significant findings for HDL-C and LDL-C levels. TBARS was significantly lower in the EBGG compared to the CG, and the BAP from the EBGG and EG were significantly higher than in the CG and BGG after 4 weeks of treadmill exercise. Therefore, aerobic exercise with black garlic intake was effective in improving TC, TG, TBARS, and BAP. Consequently, aerobic exercise with black garlic intake will be effective for activating antioxidant defenses and decreasing cardiovascular diseases.

The present study aims to verify the usefulness of microcurrent stimulation as an effective intervention for managing body shape. Thirty female college students with a percentage body fat of 30% or more participated as subjects and belonged to the one of three groups; control group, combined exercise group, microcurrent stimulation group. Based on the results of analyzing the measurement data from pre- and post-intervention for four weeks for each group, the following conclusions were obtained. There was no statistically significant difference in all measured variables in the control group. However, waist circumference and TC were significantly reduced in the combined exercise group, and also weight, percentage body fat, waist circumference, and apolipoprotein were significantly reduced in microcurrent stimulation group. Considering the above conclusions, it can be suggested that microcurrent stimulation could be an effective intervention to improve body composition and blood lipid profile to have a healthy body.
The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of Health exercise program on insulin resistant and blood lipid factor of elderly women for 12 weeks. The two groups were classified into one group(exercise group: EG) with aerobics exercise and band exercise both, the other group(control group: CG) controled. The group of EG was applied to doing aerobics exercise and band exercise 4 times for 60 minutes a week. The intensity of the exercise was ACSM. Each measurement variable was measured before and after 12 weeks to investigate the effect. During this study the result came out with this step. First, EG have shown interaction with blood lipid(TC, HDL, LDL, TG) and blood pressure(SBP, DBP)factor. Second, EG have shown interaction with insulin resistant(insulin, glucose). Therefore, this study gives us positive result to effect of health exercise program on blood lipid factor and insulin resistant factor of elderly women for 12 weeks.
We collected the samples of stream sediments from primary channels in order to establish natural background of major and minor elements for geologic units in the Gurye area. Stream sediments samples having no possibility of contamination effect and representing drainage basins composed of uniform geology, were collected from April to May in 1999, the chemical analysis of which was carried out. The tolerable level was used to investigate the enrichment degree of harmful elements. The contents of Ni and Cr exceeded the tolerance level in some sections. The tolerance level excess of those elements was regarded as the effect of the metamorphic rock which constituted the bed rock of the area. In order to identify the comprehensive enrichment pattern, the tolerable level was used in calculating the enrichment index. The enrichment index of harmful heavy metals showed that Granite gneiss area is 0.39, Porphyroblastic granite gneiss area 0.32, Biotite gneiss area 0.42, Migmatitic gneiss area 0.41, Tuff area 0.30, Andesite area 0.46, Conglomerate area 0.42, and Granite area 0.26. Those results showed that natural background of Gurye area had not been exposed to harmful heavy metal elements.
The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of Dance Sports on body composition, blood level of lipids and leptin in the middle-aged women. The 24 subjects for this study were divided into three groups by the % fat classification non-obese control group (n=8, CG), obese group with Dance Sports (n=8, OG), and normal group with Dance Sports (n=8, NG). They performed Dance Sports with 60∼80% of HRmax, for 60min a day and three times per week during 12 weeks. The body composition, blood levels of total cholesterol, HDL-cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, triglyceride and leptin were examined before and after Dance Sports. The percent body fat was decreased in OG and NG significantly. The blood levels of HDL-cholesterol were increased in OG and NC after the Dance Sports. The blood levels of triglyceride was significantly decreased in the same groups. Other serum lipids were not changed significantly. The blood levels of leptin were decreased in OG and NC after the Dance Sports. But the lowering effect of Dance Sports in the obese group (OG) was not improved compared with that in the normal group (NG), suggesting that Dance Sports on the obese group (OG) has no further improving effect in the change of blood lipid and leptin. These results suggest that Dance Sports has a beneficial effect on the change of blood levels of HDL-cholesterol and leptin.
This study investigates the differences of recognition about geo-technologies outcome between experts and nonexperts. Based on these findings, this study would offer suggestions for future communication strategies on research outcome in a various field of scientific research as well as KIGAM. The result shows that there are differences between expert and nonexpert in the level of recognition about geoscience research outcome. The findings of this study emphasize the needs for recognizing the concept that geo-technologies are directly related to people's lives and external communication is necessary.
This study investigates the differences in the recognition of the brand factors of the Korea Institute of Geoscience and Mineral Resources (KIGAM) between the internal and external public. This study considers KIGAM's brand strategy among the various institutions contributing to the country's development. The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of science classes using the geological materials of a locality on academic achievement and scientific attitude of elementary school students. For this study, the class unit is 'stratum and fossils', 2nd semester of 3rd grade, and the geological materials of a locality is applied for class. The geological materials used in teaching and learning of 'stratum and fossil' unit are photographs & video data relating to geological phenomenon, and rock & fossils samples collected in Jeollanam-do province. This study has been aimed at 2 classes 47 students of 3rd grade in G elementary school of G metropolitan. One class 23 students are the research group to apply science class using the geological materials in a locality, on the order hand another class 24 students are the comparison group to apply general science classes. The results of this study are follows. First, a positive relationship was identified between academic achievement and science class applying the geological materials in a locality in the research group. This shows that academic achievement was improved by science class applying the geological materials in a locality. Second, a positive relationship was identified between scientific attitude and science class applying the geological materials in a locality in the research group. This shows that scientific attitude was improved by science class applying the geological materials in a locality. Third, by the results of interview with students who was participated in science class applying the geological materials in a locality, it shows that they have interest and curiosity about local geology. Above results means that science class applying the geological materials in a locality help elementary schools students improve the educational effect about 'stratum and fossils' unit. Thus, it is needed to use the geological materials of a locality in science class relating to the geology units of elementary school science in order to improve academic achievement and scientific attitude of elementary school students.
The purpose of this study was to the effects of exercise intensities in physical activity of 8 weeks, on fitness, blood lipid for middle school students with intellectual disabilities. Participants of the research were allocated by low-intensity(n=8, 40~54%HRR), middle-intensity(n=8, 55~69%HRR), and high-intensity(n=9, 70~85%HRR) exercise groups wirelessly. For setting and maintenance of individual exercise intensity, wireless heart rate monitor(RS-400, POLAR, Finland) was used. Fitness, BDNF, and blood lipid were measured equally before participating in physical activity and 8 weeks after participation. As a result, fitness and agility of high-intensity exercise group were significantly increased than low-intensity exercise group. BDNF of high-intensity exercise group was also significantly increased than low-intensity exercise group. For blood lipid, only total cholesterol showed differences by exercise intensity group and exercise group more than middle intensity showed significant reduction. In conclusion, when giving same exercise to middle school students with intellectual disabilities, fitness and BDNF were increased the mostly in high-intensity exercise group and total cholesterol was effective from the exercise of more than middle intensity.
