  • Lifelong education is a periodic keyword. For a lifelong learner friendly education, university should provide the adult learners with the efficient academic administrative service. A university should support them in learning a series of graded lifelong study and come up with the convenience of continuous learning, maintaining the educational operation as a lifelong education university. A local government induces the regional economy reinvigoration from setting the lifelong learning conditions of the city. In this paper, I suggest a policy management scheme for opening training courses of 3D printing and CAD professionals training module as a non-degree reeducation programs for the lifelong learners that reflects the industrial milieu of the local community.

  • Public library is the most well-used cultural infrastructure, life-long learning space, and social facility within local community. In order to respond to the multi-purpose identities, space structure of many public libraries is changed or reconstructed to open-concept, multi-functional and interconnected areas. Accordingly, the noise issue in public libraries has emerged as one of key environmental parameters and noise management is bound to be considered as a scale for determining whether a user-friendly library. This study measured the noise level of the public libraries in Daegu city, analyzed measurement results on the basis of national and international standards, and suggested the various reduction plans.

  • A lot of different opinions have intensified the debate on environmental destruction during the pre- and post- conquest. Some respect Indian's way of living in harmony with nature, while others blame Indians for altering the environment. Also, some argue that Europeans' cattle raising resulted in highly modified ecosystem, whereas others believe that the ecosystem was not much affected by cattle raising due to their transhumance. This kind of argument shows us the point we need to consider as trying ecological restoration. If we want to find an ideal target for ecological restoration, if we like to figure out the time when human being and nature were really in harmony, advanced paleoenvironmental studies are necessary.

  • Purpose: The first thing to be done in promoting community care is local diagnosis. Therefore, this study attempted to derive the physical infrastructure to be diagnosed, and to develop diagnostic items and diagnostic indicators applicable to this. Methods:: First, the physical infrastructure related to the community care is derived. And the diagnosis items are derived using the checklist of 'community support and health services' in the WHO Guide for Global age-friendly cities. Next, by analyzing previous studies, we develop diagnostic indicators for each diagnostic item and explore their applicability. Results: As a result of deriving the physical infrastructure for each area of housing, health service, and nursing care for community care, 22 facilities were derived for 9 types. Diagnosis items for the facilities are 1)regional equity, 2)proximity between facilities, 3)transportation access, 4)regional use, 5)barrier-free design, 6)diversity of facilities, and a total of 14 diagnostic indicators was derived. We reviewed and suggested the applicability of diagnostic items and indicators by each physical infrastructure. Implications: For the realization of community care, local diagnosis should not be limited to sim- ply grasping the presence or absence of facilities and the total amount. Instead it should strengthen capabilities by conducting diagnosis to understand the performance of facilities.

  • To develope reforestation methods for environmentally sound and ecological forest management, stand structure and radial growth of the trees were investigated and compared by species and study sites. Plantation forest studied on Betula costata, Betula platyphylla var. japonica and Betula davurica, was located at Jawoon-ni Nae-myeun, Hongcheon-gun and natural forest studied on Betula costata, was located at Jangjeon-ni Jinbu-myeun, Pyeungchang-gun. In 12.3 years after planting, differences of annual diameter increment among three Betula species were significant. The highest mean annual diameter increments, 7.67mm was measured in planting Betula costata, and followed by planting Betula platyphylla var. japonica and Betula davurica, and the lowest values. 4.32mm did in natural Betula costata. If planting Genus Beula in this district. Betula costata might be the best species. From these facts, massive planting of three Betula species in this district might have much problems, but might be evaluated as proper trial.

  • This paper provides the possibility of the district cooling system by using a LNG cold thermal energy. A liquefied natural gas provides a plenty of cooling source energy during a gasification of a liquefied natural gas. In recent, an ice thermal storage system is used for cooling a building, and a deep water source cooling system has been introduced as a district cooling system in which is used to cool the office towers and other large buildings in old and new downtown. LNG cooling energy refers to the reuse of a large body of naturally cold fluids as a heat sink for process and comfort space cooling as an alternative of conventional, refrigerant based cooling systems. Coincident with significant clean energy and operating cost savings, LNG cold energy cooling system offers radical reductions in air-borne pollutants and the release of environmentally harmful refrigerants in comparison to the conventional air-conditioning system. This study provides useful information on the basic design concepts, environmental considerations and performance related to the application of LNG cold thermal energy.

  • Purpose: The study aims to demonstrate regional diagnosis methods and results combined with geographical information to expand the physical infrastructure related to community care services. To this end, the physical infrastructure for the core elements of community care was analyzed in terms of the fulfilment and access of facilities to derive the underserved elements and regions. Methods: Utilizes GIS network analysis techniques that can derive physical infrastructure service areas. Underserved elements are derived by comparing and analyzing the service area for each core element. Next, the underserved regions for each core element are derived through the overlapping of the set service area and the diagnosis population. Results: Among the physical infrastructure by core elements for community care, the housing support element was considerably weak, and the nursing care facility compared to health care was also analyzed to be weak. In addition, underserved regions by dong in Mapo-gu were deduced and presented for each diagnosed population. Implications: The discovery of underserved elements and underserved regions is meaningful as a diagnostic process that can derive the physical infrastructure that needs to be expanded urgently for the realization of community care and determine the priority projects and targets of the projects.

  • In this study, the priority was assessed and the compensation relationships were analyzed with regard to the issue of port development with conflicts among decision makers. First, the assessment factors were selected by the relevant literatures on port development, and fuzzy structure modeling was used to select assessment factors via structuralization analysis. Second, the local residents, port users, and local government were chosen as the main port-development related entities, and the analytic hierarchy process was used to calculate the total assessment value. Third, the justice based on majority power rule method was used as an assessment method that would minimize the amount of complaints according to the total assessment results and the alternative selection when a partnership was formed among the assessment entities. Moreover, the compensation issue according to the alternative selection was quantified, and the compensation relationships were analyzed. As a result, it was found that port development in Busan must be the top priority in terms of port development in South Korea, that awareness of environmental issues must be promoted among the port users, and that the local governments must promote environmental incentive policies for Environment-friendly port development.

  • For the young period, privacy is a crucial factor in establishing one's own identities, values and relationships. The capacity of residential environment to protect individual's privacy takes considerable part in influencing psychological and physiological development of adolescents. This study analyzed adolescents residential values and the elements of spatial plans for the passage and outdoor in Apartment Design Competition of Suwon A district in 2008. One hundred and ten middle and high school students living in Metropolitan area were selected and questionnaire was conducted during February 7 to February 15 in 2009. The data was analyzed by SPSS 11.0 program using one-way ANOVA and crosstab. The study results were summarized as follows; First, the adolescents valued 'safety' the most, regardless of their age and gender and the safety of adolescents commuting should be considered. Second, protecting their own private territories was next important element among other elements. Privacy can be protected by using movable walls, changing the doorway, dividing parents' and adolescents independent territory. Third, in terms of convenience, choosing location of children's room and walking way should be considered. Forth, from the survey, demand for indoors leisure activity was highly valued and required for aesthetic point of view. Considering the sculptures and facilities must satisfy the aesthetics and practicality. Fifth, in terms of social needs, 61.6% of people answered positively to the community facilities for social relationship. Residential environment affects enormous part of adolescents emotional and academic development. Therefore, designing residential areas for adolescents friendly should reflect the demands for safety, territory, convenience, aesthetic and social life.
