Ruin Probability in a Compound Poisson Risk Model with a Two-Step Premium Rule (이단계 보험요율의 복합 포아송 위험 모형의 파산 확률)

  • We consider a compound Poisson risk model in which the premiums may depend on the state of the surplus process. By using the overflow probability of the workload process in the corresponding M/G/1 queueing model, we obtain the probability that the ruin occurs before the surplus reaches a given large value in the risk model. We also examplify the ruin probability in case of exponential claims.

  • In this paper, we study an asymptotic behavior of the finite-time ruin probability of the compound Poisson model in the case that the initial surplus is large. To compare an exact ruin probability with an approximate one, we place the focus on the exact calculation for the ruin probability when the claim size distribution is regularly varying tailed (i.e. exponential claims and inverse Gaussian claims). We estimate an adjustment coefficient in these examples and show the relationship between the adjustment coefficient and the safety premium. The illustration study shows that as the safety premium increases so does the adjustment coefficient. Larger safety premium means lower "long-term risk", which only stands to reason since higher safety premium means a faster rate of safety premium income to offset claims.

  • In order to implement SGR in Korea, it is necessary to analyse the factors affecting the increase of Korea Medical Insurance Cost. GDP and MEI may substitute the diverse factors affecting the Medical Cost Uprise. In this article, the GDP and MEI influence on the rates of fee schedule is measured when we implement SGR System in Korea. The various cases are made to analyse the rates of fee change. In Korea, if we implement the SGR system successfully. we should make a considerate formula using GDP and MEI because the rate of change in GDP and MEI is much more bigger than that of U.S.

Unemployment Insurance Take-up Rates in Korea (한국의 구직급여 수급률 결정요인 분석)

  • This paper investigates the cyclical behavior of UI benefit take-up rate, the share of unemployed persons who are eligible for job seekers' allowances(JSA) and actually receive them. Using Korea's Employment Insurance DB, it also identifies the factors linked to the decision to take up job seekers' allowances. The results show that the take-up rate is countercyclical and leads both unemployment rate and Coincident Composite Index cyclical component by 6 months and is positively correlated with replacement rate and benefit duration, suggesting that extending benefit duration and raising benefit level can boost benefit claims to increase take-up rates in Korea.

  • 본 연구는 질병별사망율연구(疾病別死亡率硏究)의 이론적 기초를 제시하고 일본 선진보험사의 질병별사망율연구(疾病別死亡率硏究)의 경험을 고찰하고 국내 보험사들의 질병사망율연관데이터의 현황분석을 통해 향후 질병별사망율연구(疾病別死亡率硏究)의 결과를 얻기 위해 현재 보험사들이 전사적으로 준비하여야 할 것에 대해 제언을 하고자 한다. 사망률연구(mortality study)란 인구통계학적 개념을 기본으로 하여 역학적 연구방법의 하나인 코호트방법과 생존분석방법을 결합하여 인구집단(또는 피보험자 집단)을 대상으로 대량의 자료를 장기적으로 관찰하여 그 사망의 빈도와 분포를 기술하고 사망연관지수들을 알아내어 생명보험사업에 있어서 위험선택기술을 향상시키는 것이다. 초과사망을 및 사망비 산출의 실제를 생명표 방법론과 급성심근 경색증 환자의 생존 분석을 통해 알아본다. 생명표 방법론을 이용한 생존 분석방법이란 의학저널에서 발표된 논문을 사망률표로 변경하기 위한 필수적인 단계에 대한 것이다 관찰된 생존 곡선을 생명표 작성법의 한 방법인 비교 경험 사망률로 바꾸는데 초점을 두었다. 일본생명(日本生命)의 경우, 일본 협영생명(協塋生命)의 경우, 일본사망율조사(MA)위원회 생명보험사망을 연구고서등을 통해 질병별사망율연구(疾病別死亡率硏究)를 살펴 보았다. 일본은 질병별사망율(疾病別死亡率)을 구하기 위해서 1950년대 이후부터 체계적으로 자료를 모으고 축적, 분석하여 지속성을 유지하였다. 또한 일본MA위원회의 경우처럼 보험의학의사, 계리, 통계, 전산부서로 구성된 전담위원회의 통일된 협조가 질병별사망율연구(疾病別死亡率硏究)를 가능하게 하였다. 그리고 의학적인 관점에서 볼 때 일본보험의학계는 일본만의 독특한 질병분류로 분석하여 온 것이 특이하다. 질병별사망율연구(疾病別死亡率硏究)에 대해서는 모두가 필요성을 인정하면서도 구체적인 대비책은 없는 것이 우리나라 보험업계의 실정이다. 이러한 현실의 직접적인 이유는 질병별사망율연구(疾病別死亡率硏究)라는 것이 그 특성상 중장기적인 계획이며 많은 전문인력의 통합되고 집중된 노력이 요구되기 때문이다. 우리도 "생명보험사사망율연구위원회(Life Insurance Mortality Committee" (가칭)를 설치하고 장기적인 계획안을 먼저 만드는 것이 선행되어야 할 것이다. 지금부터 질병별사망율(疾病別死亡率) 데이터를 축적하고 매 5년 또는 매 10년마다 데이터를 분석한다면 질병별사망율(疾病別死亡率)에 대해 고유의 기술을 습득하는 것이 그리 먼 미래의 일만은 아닐 것이다.

Ruin probabilities in a risk process perturbed by diffusion with two types of claims (두 가지 유형의 보험청구가 있는 확산과정 리스크 모형의 파산확률)

  • In this paper, we introduce a continuous-time risk model where the surplus follows a diffusion process with positive drift while being subject to two types of claims. We assume that the sizes of both types of claims are exponentially distributed and that type I claims occur more frequently, however, their sizes are smaller than type II claims. We obtain the ruin probability that the level of the surplus becomes negative, by establishing an integro-differential equation for the ruin probability. We also obtain the ruin probabilities caused by each type of claim and the probability that the level of the surplus becomes negative naturally due to the diffusion process. Finally, we illustrate a numerical example to compare the impacts of two types of claim on the ruin probability of the surplus with that of the diffusion process in the risk model.

  • This study was analyzed obesity status by divided into six classification based on the body mass index(BMI) established by World Health Organization-Western Pacific Regional Office(WHO-WPRO) through National Health Insurance Service(NHIS). In the middle of process, problems of outlier solved by presenting the median repeated interpolation. Unlike linear and Lagrange interpolation, median repeated interpolation may be useful in multiple outlier contained dataset. As a result, we found that extreme low and obesity weight gradually increased and the frequency of normal body weight gradually decreased. Especially, the increase of obesity in men and women of lower age group is increasing. Overall, this study suggests that national measures need to be taken before health problems arising from obesity can spread to other social problems.

  • A continuous time risk model is considered, where the premium rate is constant and the claims form a compound Poisson process. We assume that an injection is made, which is an immediate increase of the surplus up to level u > 0 (initial level), when the level of the surplus goes below ${\tau}$(0 < ${\tau}$ < u). We derive the formula of the ruin probability of the surplus by establishing an integro-differential equation and show that an explicit formula for the ruin probability can be obtained when the amounts of claims independently follow an exponential distribution.

  • Cho et al. (Communications for Statistical Applications and Methods, 23, 423-432, 2016) introduced a risk model with a continuous type investment and studied the stationary distribution of the surplus process. In this paper, we extend the earlier analysis by assuming that additional instant investment is made when the surplus process reaches a certain sufficient level. We obtain the explicit form of the stationary distribution of the surplus process. The case is shown as an example, when the amount of claim is exponentially distributed.

An Empirical Analysis on the Production and Price Effect by Agricultural Disaster Insurance (농업재해보험의 생산량 및 가격 효과에 관한 실증분석)

  • This study empirically analyzes changes in production patterns of farmers by agricultural disaster insurance. The aim of this project is to achieve stability of farm management by paying insurance in case of a natural disaster. However, it causes farmers to change production patterns in the direction of increasing production, and leads the crop price to drop. This can be explained by producers' risk reduction through the disaster insurance. The empirical analysis is based on IV approach with using two stage least squares method. The first stage estimates by difference-in-differences methodology indicate that the production of insurable crops increases more about 80,000ton on average than that of non-insurable crops. In addition, to solve the endogeneity problem caused by general supply and demand model, I use the first stage estimates and find that the price index of the crops drops about 2.3% according to the production increase by 10,000ton. The credibility of these results is also attained by various robustness checks. These findings suggest that it is necessary for government to analyze the whole economy which consists of producer and consumer welfare when it determines the policy. Besides, it implies that it is essential to develop a new market to cope with the unintended effect.
