Some properties on the mathematical hyper-dimensional figures by 'the principle of the permanence of equivalent forms' was investigated. It was supposed that there are 2 conjectures on the making n-dimensional figures : simplex (a pyramid type) and a hypercube(prism type). The figures which were made by the 2 conjectures all satisfied the sufficient condition to show the general Euler's Theorem(the Euler's Characteristics). Especially, the patterns on the numbers of the components of the simplex and hypercube are fitted to Binomial Theorem and Pascal's Triangle. It was also found that the prism type is a good shape to expand the Hasse's Diagram. 5 mathematically gifted high school students were mentored on the investigation of the hyper-dimensional figure by 'the principle of the permanence of equivalent forms'. Research products and ideas students have produced are shown and the 'guided re-invention method' used for mentoring are explained.

포항공대 성영철 교수는 최근 에이즈의 DNA백신을 개발, 원숭이에서 방어면역이 발생함을 증명해내 에이즈 완치에 청신호가 되고 있다. 세계 최초로 개발에 성공한 이 이에즈 DNA백신은 미국 식품의약국(FDA)에서도 안전하다고 인정하고 있는 순수 DNA만으로 제조된 것이어서 사람에 대한 임상실험이 신속히 이루어질 수 있는 것이다. 이번 연구결과는 이미 특허출원했으며 소동물(생쥐) 실험결과는 백신분야의 세계적 권위지 "vaccine"지에 발표되었다.

출판문화학회지인 '출판잡지연구' (발행인 전영표) 11호가 발간됐다. 이 연구지는 1990년에 창설된 출판문화학회의 정기 학술연구지로 출판 잡지문화의 역사에서부터 현황 등 문제점에 관한 깊이 있는 연구논문을 싣고 있다. 이번 연구지에는 전영표 발행인의 '출판 잡지 윤리강령과 실천요강의 재구축 , 한서대 이용성 교수의 '공공영역의 쇠퇴와 지식인잡지에 대한 연구 등 8편의 논문이 게재돼 있다. 본지에서는 동원대 출판미디어과 부길만 교수의 '안성판 경판 완판방각본의 비교연구' 를 요약 소개한다.

한국기술교육대학교(이하 한기대) 창업보육센터에서는 교수 현장연구학기제, 중소기업기술애로 등의 경험을 토대로 입주업체의 보육닥터제도를 실시하고 있다. 보육닥터제도란 우리대학 가용 인력(교수. 대학원생)을 활용하여 창업보육센터에 입주한 업체에 대한 기술지도 및 경영지도를 실시하는 것을 말하며. 우수 벤처기업을 육성하는데 그 목적이 있다 하겠다. 대학이 갖춘 양질의 고급기술인력을 활용한다면 향후 그 효과 및 성과는 기대가 되며, 이에 보육닥터제의 운영방안과 방법들에 대하여 고찰하여 발전방향을 모색해 보고자 한다.

This research investigates how pre-service music teachers demonstrated pedagogical content knowledge (PCK) and self-efficacy during a 16-week Music Education Course. 37 pre-service music teachers underwent peer mentoring, and prepared teaching guides and class teaching demonstrations. At the end of the course, the 37 participants' teacher self-efficacy and PCK components (namely pedagogical knowledge, representational knowledge, subject matter knowledge, assessment knowledge, student characteristics knowledge, curriculum knowledge, and context and social knowledge) were assessed. Data on their self-efficacy and PCK were gathered through a group interview and their self-reflection journals, and analyzed as phenomenological experience research. Analyses of the data show that pre-service music teachers acquired diverse knowledge. It also showed that peer mentoring enhanced the pre-service music teachers' self-efficacy, enabling them to prepare teaching guides and confidently demonstrate classes. Thus, diverse opportunities in research and practical class demonstrations contributed to pre-service music teachers' PCK and self-efficacy.

The present study aims to investigate how Korean EFL learners' views of form-focused instruction, integrated and isolated FFI (form-focused instruction), are related to their beliefs about grammar and attention and how different these relationships are between high and low proficiency levels and between males and females in Korean college contexts. The findings indicated the participants' strong preference for integrated FFI, which was significantly correlated with two factors, attention in English class and English proficiency. On the other hand, the isolated FFI was strongly correlated with their beliefs about grammar learning, that is, independent learning of grammar and importance of learning grammar rules. In conclusion, the integrated FFI was associated with students' proficiency and attention, while the isolated FFI was related to their views of grammar learning. In conclusion, it is suggested that we need to use integrated FFI in Korean EFL contexts considering students' levels of proficiency and attention.

In recent years, parents of students and government have been taking a growing interest in education for the gifted students and there are many research reports about the gifted education. Most of the reports, however, focuses on the conceptional feature of the gifted education program such as organization, operation, management, evaluation, etc,. In other words, there are very few researches on instructional materials for gifted students even though the materials is a critical factor for successful education programs. So, this paper introduces a lecture notes used in a personal education for gifted students to contribute in developing education contents in computer science area. The instructional materials titled as "The Necessity and Application of Matrix in Computer Science" is based on linear equation to usher the students into creative problem recognition and groping for solutions. Also, the instructional materials is useful for students to understand the tight mathematics-computer science relationship and the basic concept of liner algebra.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the impact of multiple representations on students' understanding of fractions, decimals, and percent. The instructional approach integrating multiple representations was compared to traditional algorithmic instruction, a form of direct instruction. To examine and compare the impact of multiple representations instruction with traditional algorithmic instruction, pre and post tests consisting of five similar items were administered with 87 middle school students. Students' scores in these two tests and their problem solving processes were analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. The quantitative results indicated that students taught by traditional algorithmic instruction showed higher scores on the post-test than students in the multiple representations group. Furthermore, findings suggest that instruction using multiple representations does not guarantee a positive impact on students' understanding of mathematical concepts. Qualitative results suggest that the limited use of multiple representations during a class may have hindered students from applying their use in novel problem situations. Therefore, when using multiple representations, teachers should employ more diverse examples and practice with multiple representations to help students to use them without error.

종이가 나오기 전에 문자의 전달을 어떻게 했을까? 이에 대한 시원스런 해답이 나왔다. 강원대학교 조병묵 교수는 최근 종이 발명국인 중국의 반지씽교수가 쓴 중국제지기술사를 번역, 출간했다. 이 책에는 제지기술의 기원에서부터 세계 최초의 식물 섬유지 등 종이에 관한 자료를 싣고 있다. 본지에서는 종이 이전의 서사재료는 무엇이 있었는지를 알아본다.

This study discovered that instructional objectives of graphs which are dealt with in Math I of the revised curriculum are not matched with those of Discrete Mathematics in the 7th Curriculum. Based on the findings, this study analysed didactic transposition method of trail in graph and matrix of Math I and students' understanding about trail. Then this study discovered that though the concept definition of trail in Math I of the revised curriculum, some textbooks and students tend to consider it as the path. The concept definition of trail is significant in systems that deal with Euler Circuits(Euler Closed trail) and Hamilton Cycle. Then it is not easy to find the value of trail in Math I of the revised curriculum.
