The Educational Significance of the Method of Teaching Natural and Fractional Numbers by Measurement of Quantity (양의 측정을 통한 자연수와 분수 지도의 교수학적 의의)

  • In our present elementary mathematics curriculum, natural numbers are taught by using the a method of one-to-one correspondence or counting operation which are not related to measurement, and fractional numbers are taught by using a method which is partially related to measurement. The most serious limitation of these teaching methods is that natural numbers and fractional numbers are separated. To overcome this limitation, Dewey and Davydov insisted that the natural number and the fractional number should be taught by measurement of quantity. In this article, we suggested a method of teaching the natural number and the fractional number by measurement of quantity based on the claims of Dewey and Davydov, and compare it with our current method. In conclusion, we drew some educational implications of teaching the natural number and the fractional number by measurement of quantity as follows. First, the concepts of the natural number and the fractional number evolve from measurement of quantity. Second, the process of transition from the natural number to the fractional number became to continuous. Third, the natural number, the fractional number, and their lower categories are closely related.

Detecting Salient Regions based on Bottom-up Human Visual Attention Characteristic (인간의 상향식 시각적 주의 특성에 바탕을 둔 현저한 영역 탐지)

  • In this paper, we propose a new salient region detection method in an image. The algorithm is based on the characteristics of human's bottom-up visual attention. Several features known to influence human visual attention like color, intensity and etc. are extracted from the each regions of an image. These features are then converted to importance values for each region using its local competition function and are combined to produce a saliency map, which represents the saliency at every location in the image by a scalar quantity, and guides the selection of attended locations, based on the spatial distribution of saliency region of the image in relation to its Perceptual importance. Results shown indicate that the calculated Saliency Maps correlate well with human perception of visually important regions.

Updated Object Extraction in Underground Facility based on Centroid (중심점 기반 지하시설물 갱신객체 추출 기술)

  • In order to prevent subsidence in urban areas, which is a major cause of damage to aging underground facilities, an integrated underground space map is being produced for systematic management of underground facilities. However, there is a problem of delaying the update time because an unupdated underground facility object is included in the process of updating the underground space integrated map. In this paper, we proposed a method to shorten the update time of the integrated map by selecting only the updated objects required for the update process of the underground space integrated map based on the central point of the underground facilities. Through the comparison of the centroid, the number of search targets is greatly reduced to shorten the search speed, and the distance of the actual location values between the two objects is calculated whether or not the objects are the same. The proposed method shows faster performance as the number of data increases, and the updated object can be reflected in the underground space integrated map about four times faster than the existing method.

Children's eating behaviors and teachers' feeding practices during mealtime at child-care centers (어린이집 급식시간 중 영유아의 식사행동 실태 및 보육교사의 식사지도 방법)

  • Purpose: The aim of this study was to investigate children's eating behaviors and teachers' feeding practices during mealtime at child-care centers. In addition, it focused on the difference of teachers' feeding practices on children age under 2 years ( ${\leq}2$ years old) and 3 years and older (3~5 years old). Methods: A total of 169 teachers working at childcare centers in Geumcheon-gu, Seoul, Korea, completed self-report questionnaires in December 2013. The questionnaires were composed of questions on children's eating behaviors, feeding practices; 'Explain', 'Praise', 'Modeling', 'Indulgent', 'Insist' and 'Reward', interaction with home, and a range of demographic information (analysis rate: 51.2%). Results: Approximately 59.2% of teachers had not taken a class on feeding practice and the average score for nutrition knowledge was 14.6 out of 30 points. The most undesirable eating behavior of children during mealtime was 'eating while walking around (36.7%)' both ' ${\leq}2$ years old' and '3~5 years old'. Regarding feeding practices according to children's undesirable eating behaviors during mealtime, there were differences between age groups. When children did not eat all of the foods that were served and did not clean up silverware or seats after having food, teachers caring for '3~5 years old' practiced 'Explain'. However, percentages of those who practiced 'Indulgent' and 'Modeling' were significantly higher in teachers caring for ' ${\leq}2$ years old' than '3~5 years old'. Conclusion: These findings indicated that teachers caring for children lack education and knowledge about nutrition and feeding practice. In addition, verbal feeding practices, like explain, were mainly used by teachers. As a result, for teachers, guidelines and programs for learning about age appropriate feeding practice during mealtime at child-care centers may be needed.

  • 컴퓨터 그래픽스 기술과 H/W의 발달로 3D GIS에 대한 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 최근 3D GIS에 대한 활발한 연구 중 3D 가상도시의 구축이 중요한 연구로 떠오르고 있다. 3D 가상도시는 국방, 교통, 통신, 지적, 지하시설물, 관광, 도시계획, 도시모델링 등에 다양하게 활용될 수 있다. 현재 우리나라에서 3D 가상도시의 구축은 미약하지만 앞으로 그 수요는 더욱 더 많아질 것이다. 3D 가상도시의 구축에는 GIS, 컴퓨터 그래픽스, Database, 자료구조, 3D 모델링 등의 다양한 기술이 필요하다. 3D 가상도시의 구축의 방법은 크게 1/1,000수치지도+실제측량, 1/1,000수치지도+입체 인공위성 영상+수치사진측량, 1/1,000수치지도+항공사진측량 도화원도, 1/1,000수치지도+항공레이저스캐닝의 방법을 적용해 볼 수 있다. 현재 우리나라 여건상 첫 번째 방법이 가장 일반적으로 사용이 되나 도화원도에 대한 규제를 완화하여 세 번째 방법을 적용하는 것이 가장 효과적일 것이다. 3D 가상도시는 인터넷 기술과 접목이 되어 3D Web GIS의 형태로 앞으로의 GIS 주류를 이룰 것이다. 그러나 국내에서 3D 가상도시의 구축에 관한 연구는 미약한 수준이다. 3D 자료취득, 자료처리, 모델링 부문에 대한 연구가 시급하다.

  • 본 논문에서는 ART-1 기반 자가 생성 지도학습 알고리즘과 얼굴 인증을 이용한 주민등록증 인식방법을 제안한다. 본 논문에서는 주민등록증 영상에서 주민등록번호와 발행일을 추출하기 위해, 획득된 주민등록증의 영상에서 Sobel Mask와 Median Filter를 이용하여 윤곽선을 추출하고 잡음을 제거한 후, 수평 스미어링을 적용하여 주민등록번호와 발행일 영역을 각각 추출한다. 그리고 고주파 필터링을 적용하여 추출된 영역을 이진화하고 4방향 윤곽선 추적 알고리즘을 적용하여 개별 코드를 추출한다. 추출된 개별 코드는 ART-1 기반 자가 생성 지도학습 알고리즘을 적용하여 인식한다. 얼굴 인증은 Template Matching 방법을 적용하여 Face Template Database를 구축하고, 획득된 주민등록증의 얼굴 영역과의 유사도를 측정하여 주민등록증의 사진 위조 여부를 판별한다. 제안된 주민등록증 인식 방법의 성능을 평가하기 위해 10개의 주민등록증을 대상으로 실험하였고 원본 주민등록증 영상에서 사진과 얼굴 부분을 위조한 주민등록증에 대해 얼굴 인증 실험을 하였다. 실험을 통해 제안된 방법이 주민등록번호 인식 및 얼굴 인증에 있어서 우수한 성능이 있음을 확인하였다.

  • Korean students are taught area formulas of parallelogram and triangle by inductive reasoning in current curriculum. Inductive thinking is a crucial goal in mathematics education. There are, however, many problems to understand area formula inductively. In this study, those problems are illuminated theoretically and investigated in the class of 5th graders. One way to teach area formulas is suggested by means of process of problem solving with transforming figures.

  • In this paper, it was Proposed to extract road area automatically in general road guide map. Line tracing proposed in 〔1〕 was used basic extraction method, but by choosing starting pixel automatically iterative user interaction could be removed in this paper. this was possible by classifying and analysis color of each road. The usefulness of the proposed method was proved through experiments with various color printed maps.

  • Even if the need for English education in Korea is on the rise, too various perspectives on English education and the government's lack of consistency in the English education policy are said to be a negative factor in improving the English communication skills. The purpose of this study, in line with the knowledge and information society, is to develop ontology modeling for knowledge map of English education methodology and to make a contribution to English education policy of the country.

  • 무선 네트웍을 통해 공간 데이터를 요청하고 수신하는 PDA에서 지도 정색을 하기 위해 캐쉬와 공간 색인을 사용하는 한정을 대상으로 한다. 서 대로부터 전송되는 공간 객체들은 캐쉬된 영역의 공간 객체와 중복이 발생하므로 이에 대한 처리 방법이 필요하다. 또한 추가되는 영역의 공간 데이터를 색인에 추가하는 연산은 Bulk-Insertion기법이 효과적이지만 추가영역에 대한 색인 구축 연산이 무선 단말기에 부하를 준다. 그리고 교체로 인한 캐쉬 영역 삭제 시에도 신속한 영역 단위의 삭제 방법이 필요하다 이 논문에서는 먼저 중복 객체에 대한 처리 방법을 분류하고 Bulk-operation을 통해 캐쉬 영역의 빠른 색인 삽입, 삭제 연산을 수행하는 지도 서비스를 위한 시스템을 계시한다. 무선 단말기에 집중된 부하를 분산시키고 성능 향상을 위해 에이전트를 이용한 시스템을 설계하고 구현한다. 구현하여 실험한 결과 클리핑 방법이 효과적이며 전체적인 성능 향상을 보인다
