PREVENTIVE EFFECT OF ADHESIVE TAPE SUPPLEMENTED WITH NaF ON ENAMEL EROSION IN VITRO (불소함유 접착테잎의 법랑질 침식 예방효과)

  • This study examined the effect of adhesive tape supplemented with sodium fluoride on the prevention of dental erosion in vitro. Sound bovine tooth samples were selected and divided randomly into the following 4 groups according to the material treatments: group 1, APF gel; group 2, fluoride varnish; and groups 3 and 4, fluoride tape supplemented with 5% NaF in either a methyl cellulose or poly vinyl acetate carrier, respectively. All specimens were submitted to alternate cycles of acid exposure in a cola beverage (pH 4.3) and artificial saliva for $6\;{\times}\;5\;min/day$ over a 5 day period. The micro-hardness was recorded each day and the lesion depth was measured after 5 days. The micro-hardness of the experimental sides of groups 2, 3 and 4 were significantly higher than that of their control sides and the experimental side of group 1 during the experimental period (p<0.05) except on the 5th day. The enamel surfaces of treatment groups 2, 3 and 4 showed significantly higher resistance to mineral loss in terms of the erosion depth (p<0.05) than group 1 and their control sides. There was no statistically significant difference among group 2, 3 and 4, indicating that the fluoride varnish and tapes produce similar results. Fluoride adhesive tapes are effective in reducing the progression of erosion and can be recommended for young patients who are more susceptible to dental erosion.

Volatile Components of Phellinus linteus from Different Areas (산지가 다른 상황버섯의 휘발성성분)

  • Volatile components of Phellinus linteus produced from different areas were collected by simultaneous steam distillation-solvent extraction method (SDE). Concentrated extracts analyzed and identified by GC and GC-MS showed musty and earthy characteristics. 2-Methylphenol, methoxy benzene, coumaran, azulene, ${\alpha}-cedrene,\;{\alpha}-longipinene,\;{\beta}-selinene,\;{\alpha}-selinene$, camphor, ${\gamma}-ionone,\;{\beta}-ionone$, phytol, and borneol not reported in other edible mushrooms, were identified and/or tentatively identified in P. linteus for the first time. Main volatile components of P. linteus (Busan-Jinsung: BJ) were phytol from chlorophyll and methoxy benzenes having musty odor. Volatile components of P. linteus (Jinju-Kumwhang: JK) resembled those of BJ, but with high concentration of phenylacetaldehyde contributing to flower-odor. P. linteus (Cheju-Gullim: CG) contained low concentration of methoxy benzenes, but high concentration of phenylacetaldehyde. Low concentrations of ${\gamma}-ionone\;and\;{\beta}-ionone$ were identified in three kinds of P. linteus. They appeared to have been produced from degradation of carotenoid, which suggests P. linteus contains a carotenoid pigment.

The Physicochemical Properties of Seed Mash Prepared with Koji (Koji를 이용한 seed mash의 이화학적 특성)

  • Physicochemical quality characteristics of seed mashes were investigated for development of new creative breadmaking in bakery. Aridity of seed mashes fermented with Koji, lactic acid bacteria, and baker's yeast was slightly lower than those fermented with Koji and yeast. ${\alpha}-Amylase$, saccharifying amylase, and acidic protease activities of seed mash composed of water (560 mL) and Koji (400 g) were 0.26 SKB, 36 SP, and 645 HUT/g, respectively. Reducing sugar content of seed mash made with Koji increased up to 13.04% after 36 hr fermentation, then decreased drastically thereafter, whereas that of seed mashes made with Koji, yeast, and lactic acid bacteria increased up to 6.5% at 6 hr, decreased to 1 to 2.5% at 12 hr, and remained less than 0.7% after 18 hr fermentation. Total organic acid contents were 10.4-12.25mg/mL. Flavor compounds including ethyl acetate, ethyl caprylate, isoamyl acetate, and p-vinyl guaiacol were detected in seed mash fermented with Koji, yeast, and L. brevis. These results show use of seed mash fermented with Koji, S. cerevisiae, and lactic acid bacteria enhances bread flavor.

Aroma Characterization of Roasted Bulgogi Reaction Flavor Manufactured by a High-temperature Reaction Apparatus (고온반응기로 제조한 구운 불고기 반응향의 향미특성)

  • To characterize the aroma properties of roasted bulgogi reaction flavor obtained by using a high-temperature reaction apparatus, the volatile flavor and aroma-active compounds were analyzed using simultaneous steam distillation and solvent extraction (SDE)-gas chromatography-mass spectrometry-olfactometry (GC-MS-O). One hundred five volatile compounds were detected in roasted bulgogi reaction flavor using GC-MS. Out of these compounds, furfural was the most abundant volatile compound, followed in order of abundance by 5-methyl furfural, phenylacetaldehyde, and nonanal. Of the volatile compounds identified in roasted bulgogi reaction flavor, 33 aroma-active compounds were detected using GC-O. 2,3-Butanedione and furfural were the most intense aroma-active compounds detected. Other relatively intense odorants included hexanal, octanal, nonanal, undecanal, phenylacetaldehyde, 5-methyl furfural, 2,6-dimethyl pyrazine, and dimethyl trisulfide. These were important aroma-active compounds that contributed to the aroma of roasted bulgogi reaction flavor because of their potency and aroma properties. The concentrations of the aroma-active compounds increased as the reaction temperature increased, whereas those of the sulfide compounds decreased.

Pervaporation of Aqueous iso-Propyl Alcohol Solution using NaA Zeolite Membrane (이소프로필 알코올 수용액의 NaA 제올라이트 분리막을 이용한 투과증발)

  • The NaA zeolite membrane was synthesized on the surface of a porous ${\alpha}$-alumina support from the reaction solution composed of 1Si : 1Na : 4Na $6H_{2}O$. The pervaporation performance of the synthesized NaA zeolite membrane was investigated for the iso-propyl alcohol (IPA) aqueous solution according to the different feed concentration and the different operating temperature. The total flux decreases by increasing the feed IPA concentration and increases by increasing the temperature. The total flux was about $4.0{\times}10^3g/m^2\;hr\;at\;60^{\circ}C$ and 0.6 mole fraction of IPA and the separation factor was $1.8{\times}10^7\;at\;60^{\circ}C$ and 0.8 mole fraction of IPA. The separation performance of water through the NaA membrane was found to be superior to that obtainable with a distillation process just by comparison of the vapor-liquid equilibrium data.

Degradation Characteristics of Cross-linked Hyaluronic Acid Membrane (가교된 히아루론산 막의 분해 특성)

  • The degradation characteristics of cross-linked lactide/hyaluronic acid (LA/HA) membranes were investigated for purpose of applying to tissue engineering. The lactide/hyaluronic acid cross-linked with 1,3-butadiene diepoxide (BD) and 1-ethyl-3-(3-dimethyl aminopropyl) carbodiimide (EDC) was degradated in deionized water in water bath at $37^{\circ}C$. As the LA/HA mole ratio or crosslinking agent concentration decreased, the degradation rate of the crosslinked membranes increased. In order to investigate the structure change of the membrane in the degradation process, the control sample and 3, 6, 9 days-degradated samples were analysed by the nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. In case of the membranes crosslinked with EDC, the HA-EDC bonding structure was degradated slowly whereas the HA-LA bonding structure was degradated quickly and dissappeared completely after 6 days. In case of the membranes crosslinked with BD, all the crosslinked bonding structure degradated slowly. The HA-BD bonding structure maintained its original state about 89, 83% in case of 3, 6 days-degardated samples respectively whereas the HA-LA bonding structure maintained its original state about 83, 65%. The scanning electron microscopy of the degradated membranes showed that the pore density in the surface, and the structure in the surface and cross section, of the before and after-degradation membranes did not change greatly, so the membranes was shown to be applied to materials for tissue engineering.

Volatile Flavor Compounds of Korean Native Lilium (한국 자생나리의 휘발성 향기성분)

  • Volatile fragrance components in 5 kinds of Korean native Lilium were investigated and compared. The volatile components were extracted by SDE (simultaneous steam distillation and extraction) and identified by CC and GC-MS. As a result of the analysis of volatile aromatic ingredient of L. leichtlinii var. tigrinum Nickels., L. concolor var. parthneion Bak., L. tsingtauense Gilg., L. hansonii Leichtl., and L. amabile Palibin., using frozen materials, 60 kinds of volatile compound were identified, which were 28 aldehydes, 9 ketones, 8 alcohols, 5 esters, 5 acids, 3 furans and 2 others. The GC patterns of the aroma components of all samples resembled but the peak areas were different according to species, though all of them are Korean native Liliums.

  • Mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) would influence healing of periapical tissues by modulating the production of growth factors and cytokines from PDL fibroblasts, however, the studies are insufficient. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to monitor the expression of transforming growth factor-beta1 $(TGF-\beta1)$, fibroblast growth factor-2 (FGF-2), and interleukin-6 (IL-6) from PDL fibroblasts in the presence of MTA. The human PDL fibroblasts were seeded onto the set MTA or IRM at a level of $1\times10^5$ cells per unit well, and further incubated for 6, 12, 24, and 48 hours. The levels of $TGF-\beta1$, FGF-2 and IL-6 from the supernatant were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) The data were analyzed using one-way ANOVA. The level of $TGF-\beta1$ was down-reg ulated when the cells were grown in the presence of MTA except at 6 hours. The levels of FGF-2 release were significantly suppressed when PDL fibroblasts were grown in the presence of MTA or IRM at all time intervals (p < 0.05). The expressions of IL-6 from MTA treated co)Is were comparable to those of untreated control cells throughout the observation periods. We presume that this material inhibits the stimulatory function of growth factors on granulation tissue formation and in turn, it promotes the healing process modulated by other bone-remodeling cells.

Physiological effect induced by relaxation aroma (이완 유도 향으로 발생된 생리적 효과)

  • Aromatherapy는 향을 이용하여 생리적 및 심리적 효과를 나타내는 치료법이다. 향의 종류에 따라 여러 효과들이 나타나고 있는데 본 연구에서는 이완 유도향 제품을 개발하기 위해 자율신경계로부터의 신호인 Galvanic skin resistance(GSR), 피부온도, 심박수 등과 뇌파에서의 변화를 측정하여 이완의 정도를 측정하고자 하였다. 실험방법은 4 종류의 aromatherapy용으로 조제된 복합향(#2033, #2026, #11, #13)을 이용하고 피검자는 후각기능이 정상이며 물리적 및 심리적 stress가 없고, 음주, 담배를 3일전까지 경험이 없는 군을 택하였다. 향을 주는 시간은 1분으로 하였으며 순서에 의한 효과를 없애기 위해 4 종류를 random order에 의해 실시하였다. 대조군으로는 증류수를 이용하여 실험 전, 실험 중, 실험 후에서 각각 측정하였으며 또한 각성효과가 좋은 jasmine과 이완 효과를 보이는 lavender를 같은 protocol로 시행하여 이완의 효과를 비교하였다. 뇌파는 FFT분석에 따라 각 주파수 영역 즉 beta, alpha, theta, delta로 나누어 분석하였다. Jasmine과 lavender의 이완 효과에서는 GSR의 변화와 HRV의 변화를 보고한 바 있다(백,1998). 또한 심리불안 효과와 향 이미지 검사를 동시에 시행하여 주관적지표로 삼았다. 실험 결과에서는 이러한 4 종류의 향은 모두 GSR의 현저한 감소 효과를 보였으며, 심박수와 피부온도의 감소경향을 나타내었다. 자율신경계 반응에 따라 4 종류 향의 이완 효과의 순서를 결정할 수 있었다. 주관적 검사와의 상관관계도 잘 나타났으며 이미지는 이완 정도와 섬세하다 항목이 잘 반영되었다. 뇌파의 변화에서는 의미 있는 변화는 보이지 않았다. 결론적으로 relaxation 효과는 GSR를 비롯한 자율신경계지표에서 잘 반영되었다.^2$=.792가 되었다. 설명되는 누적분산값은 67.18%였다.주관적 평가의 결과와 객관적 평가 결과를 이용해 마직물의 태를 평가하는 산출식을 제시하였다. 태 평가치의 경우 16가지 특성치를 모두 넣는 방법과 stepwise 방법, 또 Kawabatark 사용한 순차적 군 회귀법의 세가지 방법의 회귀식 중 16가지 특성치를 모두 넣는 방법의 결정계수가 가장 높았다.tosterone농도는 107.7$\pm$12.0 pmol/l이었고, 남성의 타액내 농도는 274.2$\pm$22.1 pmol/l이었다. 이상의 결과로 보아 본 연구에서 정립된 EIA 방법은 RIA를 대신하여 소규모의 실험실에서도 활용할 수 있을 것으로 사려된다.또한 상실기 이후 배아에서 합성되며, 발생시기에 따라 그 영향이 다르고 팽창과 부화에 관여하는 것으로 사료된다. 더욱이, 조선의 ${\ulcorner}$구성교육${\lrcorner}$이 조선총독부의 관리하에서 실행되었다는 것을, 당시의 사범학교를 중심으로 한 교육조직을 기술한 문헌에 의해 규명시켰다.nd of letter design which represents -natural objects and was popular at the time of Yukjo Dynasty, and there are some documents of that period left both in Japan and Korea.   • Nonylphenols are toxic compounds classified as endocrine disruptors. We investigated the nonylphenols clean-up procedures for the contamination control in the quantitative analysis. In this research we analyzed the residual nonylphenols in the solvent and the SPE cartridges. First, at the analysis of HPLC grade solvents (n-hexane, diethyl ether, ethyl acetate and its mixture), diethyl ether was confirmed the residue as 0.963 ${\mu}g/mL$, and we eliminated the contaminant through the distillation with $CaH_2$, Second, at the analysis of SPE cartridges (silica gel and Florisil), all products were showed the residue at 0.046~13.0 ${\mu}g/mL$, but unfortunately the residue in the cartridge were not easily removed with referenced methods in all tested SPE cartridges except in silica gel SPE cartridge with glass ware.
