Evaluation of Waterway Dredging Work using Spud Dredge Process Management System (스퍼드 준설선 공정관리시스템을 이용한 항로준설작업의 평가)

  • The most important point when we engage on waterway dredging work is supplying safe navigational passage to the vessels underway by narrowing dredge work area and removing submerged dangers. In order to meet this end it is necessary to use auxiliary equipment for shifting actively and mooring and adopt automation of dredging work by integrating information on real time position, dredging depth, and work information. The dredger with a spud control system in this study, by the way, is able to employed on continuous dredging work with the narrowest working area allowing wide and safe passages to vessels underway, by moving the dredger to the working zone with the spud controlled automatically. Furthermore, it has been improved definitely compared with the existing dredging process management system such that it shows the track of spud and working depth on the electronic navigation chart of window, together with the final outcome of dredging work. The test dredging work at the entrance of Busan North Port for system evaluation showed that actual working time available was twice of the one by the existing anchor system, and that it reduced $38\%$ of time for preparation work and one man power.

  • Efficiency of dredging work depends on the types of equipment used, the sediments encountered, whether the work to be performed is new or for maintenance, pre and/or post hydrographic surveying and so forth. Among those, surveying accuracy which is directly determined by the control of the dredge's position and depth surveying accuracy being surveyed at the dredging point are important factors. The purpose of this study is to develop an integrated process management system for pump dredge. The system is composed of 4 sub-systems such as LADGPS for dredge positioning dredging point determination, tidal gauge and angular depth sensor for depth determination, and GIS and ENC process management. The process management system for pump dredge developed was installed on the pump dredge "EUNJIN PD-2" but is now producing work data for comparison with performance of the existing dredge. The data retrieved from the pump dredge process management system up to now shows similar result from the grab dredge management system which was developed previously. It is easy to operate, achieves good accuracy with only 45cm unevenness, reduces working perioa by 20 percint,. More precise evaluation of the system comes later after the dredging work is completed.completed.

  • In order to evaluate dredging results scientifically the system which can manage and estimate working process by monitoring dredging process in real-time needs to be constructed. We constructed real-time dredging management system for guidance of a dredging vessel and for survey of dredging construction. This system was designed to have functions of dredger location by GPS, ship direction measurement by GPS/Gyroscope combination, Grab position measurement, dredging depth measurement and correction. In addition, we developed the programs for controlling and operating the constructed system. The system could induce the vessel to accurate position and conduct dredging according to plan and the effectiveness of the system was evaluated through the results of application to actual dredging construction site.

  • In order to perform scientific evaluation of dredge results, it is needed to construct the system which is able to manage and evaluate the work process by monitoring in real-time the dredge process such as dredge ship position, dredge depth and dredge volume. This research aims to develop the hydrographic dredge surveying system adding water depth measurement method to both precise positioning and navigation methods using GPS, which allows a high rate of measurement and long distances between the control point and dredging points, operate in all weather conditions, and does not require line of sight to points. We constructed Beacon DGPS-based hydrographic dredger guidance and position management system and developed the operation program which makes the dredge operation perform as monitoring work situation in real-time. It is expected that this developed system will be able to contributes to reducing ultimately the cost in hydrographic dredging or hydrographic construction industries.

  • This research does by purpose that present safe navigation plan for ships during doing dredging construction with dredger crossing waterway of Gadeok. Dredging operations need to build sunken tunnel that cross the bottom of the sea under waterway of Gadeok for access road construction between Busan- Geoje. Accordingly, dredger must cross and dredge waterway of Gadeok fatally. There is possibility of marine accident of collision for latent danger situation of ships to navigate waterway of Gadeok relatively. Therefore, safe navigation plan of ship is groped in reply and its countermeasure is presented.

Firstly, navigating traffic in daytime was forecasted less than 20% of its maximum capacity through estimating the traffic volume and traffic congestion The proposal was presented to execute dredging operations in three-step and to establish temporary waterway after reviewing waterway design principles. The role of VTS center was emphasized in the new Busan Port, lastly.

  • 각종 오염물질이 수계로 유입되어 침강하면 하상에 퇴적되는데 이 오염된 퇴적물 중 질퍽한 콜로이드상의 물질을 오니토라 일컫는다. 이 오염물은 저장소 및 물환경의 변화에 따라 수질 악화의 직접적인 원인이 될 수 있는 인, 질소 등의 영양염류를 수중으로 재용출시킬 수 있는 비점오염원 종류 중 하나이다. 하천 준설은 하천에서 저수용량 확보와 하상 유지관리 및 골재확보, 수질 개선을 위해 토사를 제거하고 그 토사를 운반선에 의하여 운반하여 지정된 투기장에 투기하는 일련의 공사를 말하며, 이를 통하여 비점오염원인 오니토를 직접적으로 제거할 수 있다. 준설의 필요성 판단 및 수질개선 효과를 모니터하기 위해서는 하천의 수질과 유량을 조사해야 한다. 이때 대상구간이 요구하는 수질 기준에 부합하지 않으면 오염퇴적물 준설 기준을 통해 준설이 필요한 구간 및 사업량을 결정한다. 준설 사업량의 경제적 타당성을 정량적으로 검증하기 위해 대상 구간을 준설을 하지 않을 시 오니토가 상시 용출된다는 가정하에 물재생시설로 이 오염물을 정화했을 때의 비용을 준설 사업비와 비교하였다. 본 연구에서는 하천공사 표준시방서(2007)에 제시된 오염퇴적물 준설 기준을 만족하는 서낙동강수계의 준설 계획 지구에 대한 계획 사업비와 해당 지구 하류에 위치한 물재생시설의 정화능력 및 운영비를 비교해 하천 준설 사업비에 대한 편익을 산정하였다.

  • In this study, we designed a hydraulic propulsion propeller system that allows dredged materials to be carried out by the dredger to the disposal place. The proposed model equation was used to formulate the screw propeller specifications considering the resistance to the dredger, and the quantitative specifications of the hydraulic propulsion propeller were determined through the numerical analysis programs. In addition, based on the proposed results, we were able to determine the specifications of the hydraulic system that was used for the hydraulic motor in the propulsion propeller device and then manufactured the hydraulic propulsion propeller. To guarantee the reliability of the proposed model equation, an external testing agency was invited and verified that the hydraulic propulsion propeller based on the proposed model equation could achieve the target speed in the dredger.

  • To develope a hull form of catamaran type dredging vessel, resistance characteristics is investigated to find the interaction effect of waves between the two hulls. Re fore body shape is simplified as two dimensional wedge shape for the maintenance and disassembly/assembly. Based on MAC method, numerical simulation is performed in staggered variable mesh system. Re conservation form of Euler equations and continuity equation are applied as governing equations. To verify numerical methods, the wive patterns along the hull surface are compared with the results of model tests. This study is performed as varying wedge shape of the bow and the distance between the two hulls. The wave interaction between two hulls are observed to investigate the relation the resistance performance and the flow characteristics. Suitable hull form and distance between two hulls are discussed.
