A Study on the Wide-band Fast-Locking Digital PLL Design (광대역 고속 디지털 PLL의 설계에 대한 연구)

  • This paper presents the digital PLL architecture and design for improving the frequency detection range and locking time for wide-band frequency synthesizer applications. In this research, a wide-range digital logic quadricorrelator is used for wide-band and fast frequency detector and sigma-delta modulator with 2-bit up-down counter is adopted for DCO control. The proposed digital PLL reduces the phase noise from quantization effect and is suitable for implementation of wide-band fast-locking as well as low power features, which is in high demand for mobile multimedia applications.

  • Estimation of the frequency response of Ti:LiNb03 traveling-wave optical modulator with phase reversal electrodes is succinctly presented. The fact that such devices may have bandpass characteristics is demonstrated through simulations based on the derived equations. The influence of each parameter of traveling-wave electrodes on the frequency response is investigated in detail. It is shown that the center frequency and the bandwidth of response curves can be effectively adjustable by changing the MW effective index and the interaction length of the electrodes. rodes.

  • 국내외적으로 M/W 중계용 주파수 대역은 3${\sim}$30GHz 대역이다. 그러나 갈수록 늘어나는 서비스와 전송용량의 증대로 인해 주파수 부족현상이 일어나는 추세이다. 이에 대한 방안으로 주파수 재배치에 관한 문제가 대두되고 있다. 이동방송 중계용 링크인 FPU 링크는 차후 다른 주파수 대역으로 이전시 이전의 링크에서 사용되었던 시스템 제원을 토대로 필요한 대역에 대해 다양한 변조방식으로 시뮬레이션 평가 후 이용채널 개수 및 이전 가능 여부등과 같은 조치가 수행되어져야 한다. 본 논문에서는 M/W 대역 휴대용 디지털 무선전송 시스템으로써 디지털 FPU 링크 시스템을 모델링하고 이동환경에서 발생하는 도플러 천이 효과를 고려한 Clark & Gans 페이딩 채널 모델을 고려하여 페이딩의 영향에 따른 시스템 성능을 분석하였다.

Performance Improvement of Coded OFDM Systems Considering frequency Offset (주파수 옵셋을 고려한 부호화 OFDM 시스템의 성능 개선)

  • 본 논문에서는 OFDM(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) 전송방식과 DQPSK변조방식을 제안하고, 반송파에서 주파수 옵셋으로 인한 동기 오차의 발생이 수신시스템에 미치는 영향을 분석하고 성능 개선기법으로 부호기법을 적용하여 수신 성능의 개선정도를 분석하였다. 결과에 의하면, 부호기법을 사용함으로써 T$_{s}$ $\Delta$f=0.02일 때 약 2㏈의 BER 개선을 보였고, $\alpha$의 영향을 적게 받음을 알 수 있었고, T$_{s}$ $\Delta$f=0.05일 경우는 보호대역 비율$\alpha$가 증가함에 파라 5㏈이상의 BER 개선을 보이나 $\alpha$가 0.25이상에서는 여전히 요구되는 기준 BER를 만족하지 못함을 알 수 있었다. 또한, 낮은 수신전력(10 ㏈)에서는 보호대역 비율의 변화보다는 주파수 옵셋량이 시스템 성능에 영향을 미침을 알 수 있고, 높은 수신전력에서는(20 ㏈) 주파수 옵셋량에 대해서는 강인한 성능을 보이지만 보호대역 비율의 증가에 따라 BER 특성이 열화 되는 것을 알 수 있었다.

  • 액체탱크의 레벨을 정밀측정하는 데 FMCW(Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave)를 이용하고자 한다. 우리는 1GHz 대역폭으로 Sweep하는 Frequency Source Module을 개발하여 테스트 중이다. 개발한 송수신 모듈은 주파수의 송수신을 위한 주요부품들로 구성되는데, VCO(Voltage Controlled Oscillator), 서큘레이터(Circulator), 필터(Filter), 전력분배기(Power Divider), PLL(Phase Locked Loop)제어부, 믹서, 증폭기 등이 그것이다. 이들 부품들이 위치한 RF Board와, 패치로 구성한 안테나를 이용하여 마이크로웨이브 신호를 송수신할 수 있으며, 송수신한 신호 간의 차주파수(beat frequency)성분을 측정하면 거리정보를 획득할 수 있다. 차주파수의 아날로그신호는 DSP를 이용하여 FFT를 수행하여 주파수 성분을 찾아 거리계산을 하도록 개발하였다. 거리 측정의 성능에 영향을 미치는 가장 큰 요소는 안정된 주파수를 만들어 낼 수 있느냐 하는 것이다. 본 논문에서는 제작한 VCO 모듈을 비롯한 개발 중인 각 모듈들을 소개하였다. 향후 VCO의 선형성 개선과, 난반사에 대한 Echo Cancel 알고리듬을 적용하여 제품의 상용화를 목표로 한다.

Frequency stabilization of laser and absolute wavelength measurement of 13C2H2 for DWDM system (13C2H2 분자를 이용한 반도체 레이저 주파수 안정화 및 그 파장 측정)

  • We have measured the wavelengths of the absorption lines of the $^{13}$ C$_2$H$_2$molecule by using a wavelength meter calibrated against the national optical frequency standard (iodine Stabilized He-Ne Laser, KRISS-R701) in the visible wavelength region. To measure the absolute wavelengths of the absorption lines, the frequency of the laser has been stabilized in the peaks and the sides of the absorption lines of $^{13}$ C$_2$H$_2$. Also, we have proposed the development of a frequency standard source of ITU-T grid using stabilization in the sides of the absorption lines of $^{13}$ C$_2$H$_2$.

  • To supplement energy needs and take advantage of renewable energy sources, many wind farms are currently being built in mountainous areas under the supervision of the Korean government. However, operation of these wind farms can cause serious threats to national security due to Doppler modulation from the wind turbines causing interference with military radar operating in the vicinity. Therefore it is necessary to develop methods to analyze the Doppler frequency during the operation of wind turbines and the effect on radar signals. Based on modeling of the mountainous region, blockage analysis, turbine motion and the radar signals, this paper proposes a signal processing method to extract and analyze the Doppler frequency. Simulation results showed the change of Doppler frequency over time caused by the geometry of the mountainous area and the wind turbine.

CIR Performance Enhancement by Frequency Offset Estimation in OFDM System (OFDM 시스템에서 주파수 오프셋 보정에 의한 CIR 성능 향상)

  • OFDM system has a disadvantage of sensitiveness about the effect of frequency offset caused by the discord of oscillators in the transmitter and receiver. Either, the frequency offsets in mobile radio channels distort the orthogonality between sub-carriers resulting in the inter-carrier interference(ICI). In this paper, we analyze the effect of the ICI and propose a new method using SC technique. To analyze BER(Bit Error Rate) and CIR(Carrier to Interference Ratio) performance of the proposed method. the simulation program MATLAB is used. By the simulation results, SNR performance is improved by this method. In case the frequency offset is 0.3 and 0.5, SNR gains are over 0.5dB and 1dB in the BPSK modulation and 1dB and 2dB in the QPSK modulation at BER of $10^{-3}$ respectively. In addition, CIR performance is improved over 15dB. As a result, the proposed method is more effective to improve the system performance than the conventional method.

  • We analyze the self-pulsation(SP) characteristics due to mode beating of two modes emitted in a multi-section complex-coupled (CC) DFB laser composed of two DFB sections and a phase control section between them. SP frequency due to mode beating of the two modes is determined by the difference of grating periods in the two CC DFB regions. As the difference of grating periods in the two CC DFB regions increases, the SP frequency increases from very low frequency to the THz region. In the case of a mode which is not located in the stop band of the other DFB region, the mode propagates into the other DFB region without a high reflection, so that output powers emitted in a multi-section CC DFB laser have high modulation indexes due to the large interaction between the two modes.

  • Design of X-band frequency FMCW based imaging radar with multi-resolutions and performances of the self-manufactured radar system are presented in this study. In order to implement the multi-bandwidths, a ramp sequence of the FMCW signal is consisting of two kinds of 'saw-tooth' waveform with different bandwidth, and a receiver circuit consisting of L-band source and frequency converter circuit is used to effectively extract spectra of beat-frequency from the received signal of X-band frequency. The system setups for performance measurement of self-manufactured radar system are maximum output power of 35 dBm, sampling frequency of 1.2 MHz and sweep time of 1 ms. Then, the measured resolutions of the modulated signal having bandwidth of 500 MHz and 300 MHz in range & azimuth-direction are (0.28 m, 0.26 m) and (0.44 m, 0.27 m), respectively.
