Remanufacturing is one alternative to conserve the good environment of our earth and to save the production resources and manufacturing energy. To make active remanufacturing in Korea we have to prepare basic rules to support the collaboration among the original manufacturing, remanufacturing, and repairing companies. Basic rules for active remanufacturing can be established by the analysis of recently environments of remanufacturing procedures and the relationship among the main constituents.

With recent advances in device fabrication technology, economical deployment of large scale sensor networks, a design of pervasive monitoring and control system has been made possible. In this paper, we present a new algorithm for one of the most likely applications for sensor networks; tracking moving targets. The proposed algorithm uses a cooperations between the sensor nodes which detect moving objects. Therefore, the proposed scheme is robust against prediction failures which may result in temporary loss of the target. Using simulations we show that tile proposed moving object tracking algorithm is capable of accurately tracking targets with random movement patterns.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to investigate the anti-osteoarthritic effect of the ethanol extract of Boswellia serrata gum resin (FJH-UBS) enriched with keto-β-boswellic acid and 3-O-acetyl-11-keto-β-boswellic acid compared to the conventional Boswellia serrata extract by adding the process of removing oil with hexane, in the monosodium iodoacetate (MIA)-induced osteoarthritis rat model. Methods: Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats were orally administered 0, 40, or 80 mg of FJH-UBS/kg body weight (BW)/day for 5 weeks and injected with MIA intra-articularly into right knee joints on day 15 to induce osteoarthritis. Changes in the knee joint microarchitecture, cartilage degradation, the expression of inflammatory mediators, cytokines, and matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) in serum and synovia were observed. Results: Oral administration of FJH-UBS (80 mg/kg BW/day) reduced MIA-induced knee swelling and cartilage degradation and increased the expression of type II collagen and aggrecan in articular cartilage. Furthermore, FJH-UBS administration reduced MIA-induced increases in the serum levels of prostaglandin E2, leukotriene B4, interleukin (IL)-1β, IL-6, and MMP-13, and MIA-induced increases in the mRNA expressions of inducible nitric oxide synthase, cyclooxygenase-2, 5-lipoxygenase, IL-1β, IL-6, TNF-α, MMP-2, MMP-9, and MMP-13 in the synovia of knee joints. Conclusion: These results indicate that FJH-UBS exerts its anti-osteoarthritic effects by suppressing the expressions of inflammatory cytokines and MMPs and, thus, cartilage degradation. Furthermore, they suggest that FJH-UBS has potential use as a functional food that improves joint and cartilage health.

New manufactural innovation was generated with combination with Do It Yourself(DIY) culture and Information and Communication Technology(ICT). It led people to make their creative idea in real things and share them. This social movement has been called as 'Maker' culture. As maker culture was developed, the places named 'Makerspace' with high-tech equipment and sharing environment have been widely spread and gotten spotlight. Futhermore, makerspaces have been diffused rapidly in Korea; because of its importance for the fourth industrial revolution. However, the operation of makerspaces is not matured as much as its popularity, so problems occurred in operating aspects. The number of related studies is not enough to foster domestic maker culture in Korea. Of that, studies on operation of makerspaces were limited and the quantity of survey sample was insufficient. Therefore, firstly, in this study, operation elements of makerspaces were extracted by literature review. And, survey for examining the extracted elements was conducted to four policy makers and researchers, four makerspace operators and four makers. Final survey was carried out by Importance-Performance Analysis(IPA) method to fifty recipients composed of policy makers and researchers, operators, and makers. In result, importance located above performance in every elements and in-depth interview was followed to understand domestic surroundings and suggest way to invigorate makerspaces in Korea. The suggestion shows as follows. First, online and offline platform for makers should be expanded; second, makerspace should connect private sponsorship with makers or their projects; third, policy direction has to be improved from venturing business to diffusion of maker culture; fourth, basic maker education should be enlarged.
Up-to-date enlargement of the scale of global outsourcing has brought about the need of systematic and efficient tools for competitive supplier discovery located in various areas. A web-based business supporting system, referred to as Excellent Manufacturer Scouting System(EMSS), is being developed to serve core business functions including supplier discovery, negotiation, and collaboration between overseas buyers and domestic suppliers throughout the process of supply chain formation. In this paper, a supplier assessment model devoted to evaluation of core manufacturing capability is proposed by targeting small and medium sized mold companies. The assessment model will eventually be loaded to EMSS. Even if many well-designed models for supplier assessment have been presented in literature, most of them limit the evaluation criteria to somewhat general information on a given supplier, such as cost, delivery time, quality, rather than core manufacturing capability itself. This research is pioneering work on supplier assessment from the viewpoint of manufacturability. The proposed assessment model classifies assessment indices into six criteria, which have been drawn by intensive survey and analysis of the mold industry. Actual assessment indices for each criterion are also presented along with an exemplary evaluation result.

Modeling and control of human-involved manufacturing systems poses a huge challenge on how to model all possible interactions among system components within the time and space dimensions. As the manufacturing environment are getting complicated, the importance of human in the manufacturing system is getting more and more spotlighted to incorporate the manufacturing flexibility. This paper presents a formal modeling methodology of affordance-based MPSG (Message-based Part State Graph) for a human-machine collaboration system incorporating supervisory control scheme for flexible manufacturing systems in automotive industry. Basically, we intend to extend the existing model of affordance-based MPSG to the real industrial application of humanmachine cooperative environments. The suggested extension with the real industrial example is illustrated in three steps; first, the manufacturing process and relevant data are analyzed in perspectives of MABA-MABA and the supervisory control; second, the manufacturing processes and task allocation between human and machine are mapped onto the concept of MABA-MABA; and the last, the affordance-based MPSG of humanmachine collaboration for the manufacturing process is presented with UMLs for verification.
As products become more complex, short-life cycled and customized, the design efforts require more knowledge-intensive, collaborative, coordinating, and information sharing. By sharing knowledge, information, component and process across different families of products, the product realization process will be more efficient, cost-effective and quick-responsive. The purpose of this paper is to propose an ontology-based product family modeling framework. The ideas of product family, ontology and Semantic Web were investigated in depth. A Semantic Web is originally defined as a web of data that can be processed directly or indirectly by machines, which operates intelligently. A Web Ontology Language (OWL) is designed for use by applications that need to process the content of information instead of just presenting information to humans. For the selected cellular phone product family, ontology was constructed and implemented using prot$\acute{e}$g$\acute{e}$-2000.
Recently, with the advent of the 4th Industrial Revolution, the diversified industrial base and stable employment market have led to increased concern on the metropolis centered manufacturing. However, To enhance the added value and competitiveness of the manufacturing industry in Seoul, it is necessary to develop specialized smart-based technology and production, and to establish a collaborative system among various businesses in the areas of planning, production, and logistics. Accordingly, I planned a service that is necessary for activation of the urban manufacturing industry in Dongdaemun area of Seoul to enable designers to construct an infrastructure for direct production. The proposed content is a hands-on application that provides information to producers who want to make their own unique products with which they can buy materials from Dongdaemun, Cheonggyecheon, and Uljiro areas.
