Study on the Development of Optical Sensor Linear Fire Detection System Using Raman Scattering (라만산란을 이용한 광센서 선형 화재감지시스템 개발에 관한 연구)

  • The paper reports the development of a distributed temperature sensing (DTS) system, which is a fire detection system using optical sensor linear detectors that depends on foreign and domestic technologies. This study accordingly analyzed the electrical signal patterns of Raman scattering light mainly used for temperature sensing among back-scattered light generated in optical fiber by using an oscilloscope. Through the measurement results, it could be verified that the Stokes signal patterns had little change by the temperature increase, but the temperature-sensitive anti-Stokes patterns had relative increase of the changes. This study developed a K-DTS system, which is an optical sensor linear fire detection system composed of an optical repeater and a receiver that can detect fires using Raman scattering light. It could be verified that the developed K-DTS system satisfied the type approval standards through the sensitivity tests using the rate of rise type and fixed temperature type sensitivity testers. In addition, performance experiments have been performed for performance evaluation of the K-DTS system developed in comparison with S-DTS system which has been imported from abroad and widely used in Korea. It can be confirmed from the results of the performance experiments using model tunnels that comparable performances can be obtained in fire detection locations and the measurements of fire temperatures.

  • The heat detector detects heat in the fire and is an important core element of the automatic fire alarm system used generally for every fire prevention objects. The heat detector is distinguished in spot type and spread type and in spot type, there are differential and thermistor types. These heat detectors give a great influence on the loss of people and property according to the sensitivity of response such as operation time and operation temperature in actual fire and in overseas people apply it for the development of products that can be operated in the early stage of fire including certification, quality management, and comparison standard by introducing response time index through the theory of heat balance that considers the heat loss and ventilation tests. In Korea, the response time index is introduced and used in the head of sprinkler products, but it is not applied to the heat detector at present. It is necessary to introduce the response time index that shows the sensitivity of response of the heat detector the installation standard for the heat detector that the response time index is applied should be different according to the fire weight, danger degree of fire, and shape of buildings. Through this study, it tries to help reduce lives and property of people through the swift warning by installing detectors suitable for the building structure.

  • In this paper, we investigate the part dealing with algebra in Hong Gil Ju's GiHaSinSul to analyze his algebraic structure. The book consists of three parts. In the first part SangChuEokSan, he just renames Die jie hu zheng(疊借互徵) in Shu li jing yun to SangChuEokSan and adds a few examples. In the second part GaeBangMongGu, he obtains the following identities: $$n^2=n(n-1)+n=2S_{n-1}^1+S_n^0;\;n^3=n(n-1)(n+1)+n=6S_{n-1}^2+S_n^0$$; $$n^4=(n-1)n^2(n+1)+n(n-1)+n=12T_{n-1}^2+2S_{n-1}^1+S_n^0$$; $$n^5=2\sum_{k=1}^{n-1}5S_k^1(1+S_k^1)+S_n^0$$ where $S_n^0=n,\;S_n^{m+1}={\sum}_{k=1}^nS_k^m,\;T_n^1={\sum}_{k=1}^nk^2,\;and\;T_n^2={\sum}_{k=1}^nT_k^1$, and then applies these identities to find the nth roots $(2{\leq}n{\leq}5)$. Finally in JabSwoeSuCho, he introduces the quotient ring Z/(9) of the ring Z of integers to solve a system of congruence equations and also establishes a geometric procedure to obtain golden sections from a given one.

  • Road facilities for safe driving were designed for drivers to distinguish them during day and night, but they cannot play their role when the weather becomes worse. Recently, the road facilities have been designed by using electric and electronic technology so that they can be displayed well at a long distance, but they should be replaced very often due to their frequent breakdown. So, there are many problems in traffic calming and maintenance. In this study, to solve the above problems, semi-permanent LED beacon light was installed in the area where traffic accident are frequent, and monitoring system was developed so that the LED beacon light can be maintenanced by connecting with system. For the above installation and development, system was based on window operating system and it was developed for worker to operate it by using P.C. through connecting with wireless local area network. The result of this study led to analyzing state information on the battery of field-installed LED beacon light in real time, and manegement to effectively by predicting their life cycle.

  • The change of water level at Mokpo Harbour and its adjacent coastal area due to the construction of the Youngsan Estuary Barrage and the Third Land Reclamation Work of estuary barren had been roughly expected. Periodical floods, which occur 2 times per month, are also being observed at the low lying commercial areas near the Mokpo Old Harbor. Although it is said that the highest tidal current component among the tidal current records at the approaching channel to Mokpo Harbor is reduced to 6 kts, because of the esturary barrage, they do not give any precise statement or a deep analysis for the flooding and periodical water level change under certain environmental conditions. Moreover, they never tried the analysis of development plan considering the natural disaster such as typhoon or other extreme conditions. Thus, it is necessary to collect and analyze the data related to floodings, harbor oscillations, currents, and water quality , etc. because of the development considering the extreme condition.   • Recently, in other.view of underwater concrete construction, special admixture agent of concrete has been developed for antiwashout of concrete under water with easy carrying out method in some foreign nations. They had successful cases in experiment and construction and it trend to use in many cases with many scales. However, in domestic, there was rare record in carrying out. In this paper, reference for successful results of experiment and construction about antiwashout underwater concrete, as variable add of special admixture agent and other agents. We have carried out property tests of fresh and hardened concrete, certified the properties and made the antiwashout underwater concrete have enough strength to endure with ea.sy construction. And we have decided the optimal mix proportion for antiwashout underwater concrete under standard state.

Selection of Well Labelled Insulin Fractions for Radioimmunoassay Use

  • Selection methods of well labelled insulin fractions based on two different criteria were compared to establish an efficient low level RIA of insulin and to elucidate the correlation between the immunoreactivity and the charcoal-adsorptivity of the radioiodine labelled insulin. The results indicated that the selection of well labelled insulin fractions by means of a charcoal-adsorption test is inappropriate. Generally, the distribution of radioactivity antibody-bindability, and charcoal-adsorptivity of the labelled insulin was not consistent with each other. Thus. the selection should be carried out for every labelling batch to get the utmost assay reliability by antibody-bindability but not by charcoal-adsorptivity. By using the well selected labelled insulin fractions based on antibody-binding, a correct assay for a reference serum was possible, and by extending the incubation time upto 96 hrs, a sharp dose response curve could be obtained even in the range of below 5 $\mu$U/ml standard insulin doses.

  • The effects of monaural beating sound generated according to the number of tire pitch blocks to human body are measured from experiments, and the possibilities of similar positive effects of enhancing alpha waves in human brain are investigated. Due to the requirement of repeatability and measurement conditions, recorded sounds of the tire noise are used for the experiment in a quiet room and human responses are measured using HRV. Although the number of statistically meaningful results was small, it showed that positive human reactions are probably possible.

The Optimal Spacing of Speed Humps in Traffic Calming Areas (교통정온화 구역 과속방지턱 최적 설치간격)

  • PURPOSES : This study aims to suggest the optimal spacing between speed humps which is placed at traffic calming areas including pedestrian priority zones, school zones, and residential areas. METHODS: The study measured the operating speed of vehicles passing through two successive humps by using laser gun in 0.2 seconds interval, and analysed the basic statistical characteristics of speeds data to have an insight on the relationship between spacing and speed. Assumption was made to derive the maximum spacing within which two successive humps influence each other. RESULTS: The statistically significant model explaining the relationship between spacing and 85th percentile speed of vehicles was derived as well as the maximum spacing maintained in order to take the benefits of successive installation of humps. CONCLUSIONS: Spacing of 20 meters was suggested to achieve the widely accepted target speed of 30 km/h in traffic calming zone, and spacing of 70 meters was suggested as a maximum spacing. The comparison across the studies were made and empirical reasoning the difference of results between studies was discussed as well as the future studies.

  • Noise problem that occurs on the road is raising a lot of problems in the economic, social and environmental aspects. The active noise control (ANC) systems based on the filtered-X least mean square(FxLMS) algorithm have a problem with compensating the acoustic feedback of secondary route. However, newly proposed correlation-LMS(CLMS) and expanded CLMS algorithms have slightly much calculation and are minutely behind performance, these have a advantage not in measuring transfer function onerously so that we can easily adapt these in real time. The CLMS and expanded CLMS algorithm was developed to improve the real-time implementation performance under the variable input noise such as road noise environment. In this paper, we compared and analyzed their performance. From the results of the Matlab simulation for an ANC system, it is shown that expanded CLMS algorithms are more convergence speed and keep the desirable performance even in the input of road noise situation.
