Data collection was conducted from May 1, 2020 to May 20, 2020. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient and a multiple regression analysis. The average score for self-esteem was 3.75±0.64(1-5), perceived stress was 2.86±0.58(1-5), emotional regulation ability was 3.43±0.65(1-5) and mental health was 1.91±0.71(1-5). Mental health had a statistically significant relationship with self-esteem(r=-.64, p<.001), emotional regulation ability(r=-.61, p<.001) and perceived stress(r=.54, p<.001). The factors affecting mental health were self-esteem(β=.46, p<.001), emotional regulation ability(β=-.37, p<.001), negative perceived stress(β=.17, p=.001) ; the explanatory power of the model was 60.0%. Therefore, it will be necessary to develop a program that can help high school students improve their self-esteem and control their negative emotions in order to promote their mental health.

  • This study investigated the profiles of anger expression (anger control, anger in, anger out) and their variation in forms, and determined the differences in depression, aggression, and negative affect intensity of middle school students. For this purpose, the survey responses of 296 middle school students in Seoul were analyzed. The major study results are as follows. (1) Cluster analyses yielded four anger expression profiles: cluster 1 was characterized by high scores for anger control, anger in and anger out, cluster 2 by low scores for anger control, high scores for anger in and anger out, cluster 3 by low scores for anger control, anger in and anger out, and cluster 4 by low scores for anger in, high scores for anger control and anger out. (2) Between-cluster differences in depression, aggression, and negative affect intensity were all significant. The posteriori test indicated that cluster 4 was higher than the other three clusters in terms of depression. Cluster 3 was higher than the other three clusters on aggression, cluster 2 was higher than cluster 4 in terms of aggression. The interventions by aggression expression cluster are discussed and the implications of this research to education and counseling are explained.

  • This study investigated the relationship among emotional regulation, coping strategies and satisfaction in clinical practice, and examined factors influencing satisfaction with clinical practice in nursing students. Data were collected through structured questionnaires from May 1 to June 30, 2016. The study participants were 201 third and fourth year nursing students at four departments of nursing located in B and K metropolitan city. Data were analyzed using t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe's test, Pearson's correlation coefficients and stepwise multiple regression with SPSS WIN v 20.0. The mean emotional regulation score was $3.73{\pm}0.48$, active coping was $2.79{\pm}0.33$, passive coping was $2.53{\pm}0.36$, and practice satisfaction was $3.58{\pm}0.46$. Statistically significant relationships were noted between emotional regulation and satisfaction with clinical practice (r=.391, p<.001), between active coping and satisfaction with clinical practice (r=.361, p<.001), between passive coping and satisfaction with clinical practice (r=.276, p<.001). Factors influencing satisfaction with clinical practice were satisfaction with the nursing major (${\beta}=-.322$, p<.001) and emotional regulation (${\beta}=.232$, p<.001). These factors explained 28.1% of variance in participant's satisfaction with clinical practice. In conclusion, effective nursing educational programs need to be developed to enhance satisfaction with clinical practice and to foster positive emotional regulation in nursing students.

When the pre- and post-treatments of the elderly was compared, both the control and treatment didn't show a significant difference in emotion. In self-esteem of the elderly the control didn't show a significant difference; on the contrary, treatment showed a highly significant difference ($p$<0.01). When a comparison was made on the pre- and post-treatment of young children, the control didn't show a significant difference in emotional intelligence; on the contrary, treatment showed a highly significant difference ($p$<0.001). In self-esteem of young children both the control and the treatment didn't show a significant difference. The results suggest that intergenerational horticultural activity program can improve young children's emotional intelligence and the elderly's self-esteem.
