A Case Study on Grouping in Peer Tutoring Discourse (또래교수 담론에서의 집단 구성에 관한 사례 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is provides an implication of further teaching learning process by analyze the common and difference and characteristic of mathematical self-efficiency between three peer tutoring groups discourse in the mathematical teaching leaning process that use peer tutoring. To achieve this goal, three groups formed that consist of one peer tutor who received a first grade of mathematic achievement and one peer student. Peer student of each group is divided into high grade, middle grade, low grade of mathematic achievement. Then analyze the discourse in the exponential function problem solving process. Based on the results of study, this paper provides a concrete example of merit of peer tutoring on the peer tutor. Result of study also provides a practical help to make a peer tutoring group by considering a difference of grades between peer tutor and peer student. Because there is a possibility of mutual discourse on the tutoring group that consist of similar grades.

The Meaning of Father's Participation Experiences in the Educational Program for Fathers (아버지교육 참여자 경험을 통해 살펴본 아버지교육의 의미)

  • This study aimed to explore the meanings of fathers' experiences as they participated in educational programs for fathers. In-depth interviews with 3 fathers with children attending elementary school and middle school were implemented to examine their participation experiences in educational programs for fathers and their expectations for educational programs for fathers. The findings of this study showed that fathers wanted opportunities to carry out more active roles with their children instead of passive father roles. They learned interaction with their children and wives through participating in educational programs. The education programs impart a broader perspective and knowledge of father roles, and participation may encourage improvement of their relationships with their children and wives. They felt the importance of father roles in educational programs, which helps a father be a good father. But, they complained about harsh circumstances to participate in educational programs. So educational programs for fathers should be provided to all fathers that are geared to the level and need of each father. Further studies for more revelatory documentation were also suggested.

Empathy With Music From a Selfobject Perspective (음악공감경험 분석: 자기대상(selfobject) 개념을 중심으로)

  • Using Kohut's selfobject perspective as a foundation, this qualitative study explored the empathy with music and analyzed the empirical meanings in relation to 'Mirroring selfobject need', 'Idealized selfobject need', and 'Twinship selfobject need'. The participants included 13 music therapy graduate students who took part in individual interviews about their musical experiences. The interviews were recorded, transcribed, and analyzed via content analysis. As a result, seven categories with 16 meaningful concepts emerged under three dimensions: Gratification of selfobject need for mirroring, gratification of selfobject need for idealization, and gratification of selfobject need for twinship. Participants described experiencing unconditional understanding and acceptance from music, feeling stronger and safer in music, and being identified with and connected to music. These findings suggest that participants continuously gratify their selfobject needs by expanding the self and empathizing themselves through music. This study in significant in that it is the first qualitative study to analyze participants' musical experiences from Kohut's selfobject perspective.

  • The purpose of this study is to suggest a plan for which Medical Record Technician, who has main task as efficient creation and management of medical information, is changed successfully to health information manager in IT-based medical environment. According to this research objective, it carried out an analysis on future model(To-be) for being changed into health information manger in addition to analysis of the current situation for task as medical record technician. The subject materials of analyzing the present status included 1) state-exam subjects for medical record technician 2) qualification examination subjects for health information manger 3) analytical data of the current task for domestically medical record technicians 4) symposiums and educational topics for the recent 3 years in Korean Medical Record Association. Future-model(To-be) data included 'HIM Professional Roles in E-HIM (R)' suggested by AHIMA(American Health Information Management Association). Through a comparative analysis of these materials, a role of being needed currently medical record technicians' new entry was analyzed to be Business change manager, IT training specialist, Consumer advocate, Clinical alerts and reminders manager, and Enterprise application specialist.

Difficulties Experienced by Leading Korean Scientists and Implications for Science Education (한국의 선도적 과학자가 경험한 어려움과 과학교육에의 시사점)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the difficulties with scientific research faced by leading Korean scientists and suggest implications for science education. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with 13 leading Korean scientists and were qualitatively analyzed using constructivist grounded theory. The results of the study showed that the leading scientists encountered 11 subcategories of difficulties, which were grouped into three main categories: uncharted territory, unexpected situations, and a lack of resources in domestic research environments. 'Uncharted territory' comprised anxiety due to uncertainty about research performance, insufficient knowledge accumulation in the field of research, and the burden of maintaining research influence as an academic leader. 'Unexpected situations' included encountering new phenomena that cannot be explained by existing theories, an inability to utilize research results, and repeated failures. 'A lack of resources in domestic research environments' included inadequate research funding support systems, a shortage of expert networks, limitations on employment and career opportunities for students, poor research equipment, and insufficient support policies for retired researchers. This study provides science educators with implications for the direction of science education and R&E. For students, it can serve as career education material, their attitudes towards science and their understanding of its nature. Lastly, the study may contribute to finding ways to improve scientific research policies and to developing a culture that fosters expertise in science.

The Effects of a Group music psychotherapy program on Parenting Stress, and Self-Efficacy in Mothers of Children with Disabilities (그룹 음악심리치료 프로그램이 장애아동 어머니의 양육 스트레스와 자기효능감에 미치는 영향)

  • Mothers of Children with Disabilities have many difficulties in parenting because of their children's disabilities. The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of a Group music psychotherapy programs on parenting stress and self efficacy, and to explore the experiences of the mothers who participated in the program. Twenty mothers of children with disabilities participated in this study. These twenty mothers were divided into 10 mothers of each group. The Experimental group participated in the Group music psychotherapy programs, while the control group did not. The Group music psychotherapy program was implemented for 8 weeks. To prove the effects of the program, pretest-posttest control group design was applied. The differences between pre-test and post-test of two groups were analyzed using independent t-test. The quantitative results of the study were as follows: First, a significant differences was found between the experimental group and control group in parenting stress level. Second, a significant differences was found between the experimental group and control group in self-efficacy level. From the qualitative analyses, four themes emerged from the decrement of parenting stress; Positive change of recognition about their children, Getting rid of stress, Keeping their composure, and Sharing of their emotions. And three themes emerged from the increment of self-efficacy; Discovery of oneself, New stimulus, and Mental support. All the result described above shows that group music psychotherapy program gives positive effect to decrease in parenting stress and also to increase in self-efficacy. And new possibility and effectiveness can be proposed in the music therapeutic approach to the parents of children with disabilities.

A Study on the Gene Expression of Adipogenic Regulators by an Herbal Composition (생약복합물에 의한 지방세포형성 조절자의 유전자 발현 연구)

  • In our previous study, it was reported that an herbal mixture, SH21B, inhibits fat accumulation and adipogenesis both in vitro and in vivo models of obesity. SH21B is a mixture composed of seven herbs: Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi, Prunus armeniaca Maxim, Ephedra sinica Stapf, Acorus gramineus Soland, Typha orientalis Presl, Polygala tenuifolia Willd, and Nelumbo nucifera Gaertner (Ratio 3:3:3:3:3:2:2). The aim of this study was to investigate the detailed molecular mechanisms of the effects of SH21B on various regulators of the adipogenesis pathway. During the adipogenesis of 3T3-L1 cells, SH21B significantly decreased the expression levels of central transcription factors of adipogenesis, such as peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor (PPAR)$\gamma$ and CCAAT/enhancer binding protein (C/EBP)$\alpha$. To elucidate the detailed molecular mechanism of the anti-adipogenic effects of SH21B, we examined the expression levels of the various pro-adipogenic or anti-adipogenic regulators of adipogenesis upstream of $PPAR{\gamma}$ and C/$EBP{\alpha}$. The mRNA levels of Krox20 and Kruppel-like factor (KLF) 15, which are pro-adipogenic regulators, were significantly down-regulated by SH21B treatment, whereas the mRNA levels of C/$EBP{\gamma}$ and KLF5 were not changed. KLF2 and C/EBP homologous protein (CHOP), which are anti-adipogenic regulators, were significantly up-regulated by SH21B treatment. These results suggest that the molecular mechanism of the anti-adipogenic effect of SH21B involves both the down-regulations of pro-adipogenic regulators, such as Krox20 and KLF15, and the up-regulations of anti-adipogenic regulators, such as KLF2 and CHOP, which results in the suppression of central transcription factors of adipogenesis including $PPAR{\gamma}$ and C/$EBP{\alpha}$.

Generation of a transgenic mouse model to study cranial suture development; Apert syndrome (두개봉합 발육 연구를 위한 형질변환 쥐의 개발 : 어퍼트 신드롬)

  • The form and function of the craniofacial structure critically depend on genetic information. With recent advances in the molecular technology, genes that are important for normal growth and morphogenesis of the craniofacial skeleton are being rapidly uncovered, shaping up modem craniofacial biology. One of them is fibroblast growth factor receptor 2 (FGFR2). Specific point mutations in the. FGFR2 gene have been linked to Apert syndrome, which is characterized by premature closure of cranial sutures and craniofacial anomalies as well as limb deformities. To study pathogenic mechanisms underlying craniosynostosis phenotype of Apert syndrome, we used a transgenic approach; an FGFR2 minigene construct containing an Apert mutation (a point mutation that substitute proline at the position 253 to arginine; P253R) was introduced into fertilized mouse germ cells by DNA microinjection. The injected cells were then allowed to develop into transgenic mice. We used a bone-specific promoter (a DNA fragment from the type I collagen gene) to confine the expression of mutant FGFR2 gene to the bone tissue, and asked whether expression of mutant FGFR2 in bone is sufficient to cause the craniosynostosis phenotype in mice. Initial characterization of these mice shows prematurely closed cranial sutures with facial deformities expected from Apert patients. We also demonstrate that the transgene produces mutant FGFR2 protein with increased functional activities. Having this useful mouse model, we now can ask questions regarding the role of FGFR2 in normal and abnormal development of cranial bones and sutures.

A Study on the Characteristics of Commemoration in World War II Memorials - Focus on the War Memorials of the United States, the Soviet Union, and Germany - (제2차 세계대전 전쟁 메모리얼에 나타난 기념성 - 미국, 소련, 독일의 전쟁메모리얼을 대상으로 -)

  • This study aimed to analyze the commemoration characteristics of the national war memorials made by the United States, the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics(the Soviet Union), and Germany that participated in World War II(WW II). The results of the study are summarized as follows. First, the creation of the WW II memorials of the United States, the Soviet Union, and Germany aimed to commemorate the dead and victims. By country, the United States promoted unity and victory with representing the just and great cause for freedom, and the communist Soviet Union emphasized the Great Patriotic War that defeated fascist Nazi Germany. On the other hand, Germany, which had difficulty in national commemoration, cherish the victims of the war and aimed for peace. Second, WW II memorials were located in places of national significance such as national representative places and battlefields, and in Germany they were built in church cemeteries and public cemeteries. In addition, it showed concise and moderate aesthetic characteristics with a symmetrical and formal form centered on the axis of space in memorials. Third, the United States and the Soviet Union commonly visualized the appearance of war on the memorial wall. By country, the United States engraved sacrifice and dedication for freedom, and differently the Soviet Union and East Germany engraved messages promoting communist ideology as memorial texts. As for landscape details and sculpture, the United States emphasized national unity through eagles symbolizing the country and a colonnade representing each state and territory, and the Soviet Union set up a communist-style soldier sculpture. The United States and the Soviet Union, both countries used sculptures and laurels that symbolize victory, but in Germany, the statues of a fallen soldiers were installed in the memorial. Politically, the United States commemorated the victory of the war and also promoted unity, and the Soviet Union emphasized the Great Patriotic War and promoted communism. As the United States, the Soviet Union, and the Germans believed in Christianity universally, Christian symbols such as the crucifixion, the church, and the statue of Evita were often used. Further study will be required to establish national identity at memorials and advanced commemorative culture in Korea.

The convergence study of Experience of Turnover in new graduate nurses within one year (신규 간호사의 1년 이내 이직경험에 관한 융합적 연구)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to exploration the experience of turnover new graduate nurses within one year. Methods: Experiential data were collected from 5 experienced nurses through in-depth interviews. The main question was "Could you describe your experience of your turnover?". Qualitative data from the field and transcribed notes were analyzed using Strauss Corbin's grounded theory methodology. Results: The core category of experience of new graduate nurses turnover was 'a feeling of helplessness.' Participants used three interactional strategies: 'rationalize to turnover', 'to feel more', 'to think positively'. Conclusion: If you teach kindly to senior nurse, training communication skills to new nurse and prepare to stable welfare in new nurse, you will can prevent early turnover of new nurse.
