The improved SWNTs/PANi composite actuator films applicable to an artificial muscle were fabricated successfully using a new process of manufacture that consists of 90% pure single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNT) and chemical polymerization. PANi is electrically conducting polyaniline polymer. The conductivities of the composite SWNTs/PANi film-type actuators and the pure PANi films fabricated were measured as 56.15 S/cm and 17.38 S/cm, respectively, by the 4-prove method. The conductivity of the composite actuator is 3.2 times higher than the pure PANi film. The fabricated composite actuator showed higher conductivity than any other similar ones. The quality of samples was investigated by an electron scanning microscope (SEM). To measure the actuating strains, a specially designed beam balance apparatus was developed and strains of the composite actuators was measured by a laser displacement sensor subjected to electric currents. During the operation, the sample was soaked in the $NaNO_3$ solution and the sine-wave voltage in the range of $+1V{\sim}-1V$ was applied. The length of the composite actuator changed from $l_0=12.690$ mm to $l_1=12.733$ so that the change of length was l=0.043 mm and the strain was 0.34 %. This is a very high strain for this kind of a composite actuator. Other result reported by Tahhan showed 0.23 % strain, so that the present result is improved by 48%.
In this paper the electronic and optical properties of various poly(3-alkylthiophene)s differing in alkyl chain length were investigated. And their dependence on temperature were also investigated. The electrical conductivity decreased with the increase of alkyl chain length. In addition optical properties were changed due to the shift of edge energy which was caused by the change of the alkyl chain length and rise of temperature. The conformational change of poly(3-alkylthionphene) depending on the alkyl chain length is believed to be responsible to the change of electronic and optical properties of materials.
A novel conductive composite thin film was prepared for the first time by hybridization between polybenzoxazine (PBZ) having high heat resistance property and conductive graphene. Mechanically robust conductive graphene/PBZ composite thin films could effectively be prepared by a simple thermal treatment, which simultaneously induces reduction of graphene oxide (GO) and crosslinking reaction of benzoxazine monomer. Graphene sheets seem to be uniformly dispersed up to 3 wt% graphene content in the composite thin film as shown in the results of chemical/crystal structural and morphological analyses. This efficient route for making graphene/PBZ composite thin film would provide simultaneous improvement of mechanical property as well as electrical conductivity.

The effect of vapor grown carbon fiber (VGCF) contents on electrical and rheological properties of VGCF filled polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) composites prepared through melt mixing using a twin screw exruder was studied. This method was proved to be quite effective to produce good dispersion of VGCF in the matrix even for highly filled PPS. From the dependence of the electrical conductivity on VGCF content, the percolation phenomena began to occur above $10\;wt\%$. While there is only a marginal increase of viscosity for 1 and $5\;wt\%$ VGCF filled PPS, the composites containing $10\;wt\%$. While VGCF showed abrupt increase in viscosity as well as flattening of frequency vs modulus curve, indicating a transition from a liquid-like to a solid-like behavior due to the creation of VGCF network. This result agrees well to the fact that the network formation in the composite can be composite by rheological property dependence on filler content as well as by electrical conductivity measurement.

Recently, as living standards have improved, many people are becoming more interested in health, and self-training is increasing through exercise to prevent and manage pre-illness. In general, an imbalance of muscles causes asymmetry of posture, which can cause various diseases by accompanying an adjustment force, circulation action, displacement of internal organs, etc.. In this study, the development of fitness software that can be self - training among smart wears has attracted considerable attention in recent years. In this study, a technology was proposed for the commercialization of self - trainer fitness wear by a simulation through Android - based applications. Self - trainer fitness software was developed by combining a conductive polymer, fashion design, sewing, and electric and electronic technology to monitor the unbalance of the muscles during exercise and make smart wear that can calibrate the asymmetry by oneself. In particular, a polymer sensor was fabricated by deriving the optimal MWCNT concentration, and the electrode signal was collected by attaching the electrode to the optimal position, where the electrode signal line using the conductive fiber was designed and attached to collect the signal. A signal module that converts the bio-signals collected through electrical signal conversion and transmits them using Bluetooth communication was designed and manufactured. Self-trainer fitness software that can be commercialized was developed by combining noise cancellation with Android-based self-training application using a software algorithm method.

We investigated the effect of polymer sublayer on volumetric resistivity and tensile strength of carbon fiber (CF)/polyethylene composite films fabricated under high intensity electric fields. The dependence of volumetric resistivity and tensile strength of the films on the polymer sublayer thickness or mass part exhibited complex behavior according to CF content and CF layer density in the films. As the thickness of polymer sublayer increases, two groups of processes at thermo-mechanical forming stage would take effects in the properties of the films. The first group comprises the increase of polymer layer thickness having reduced CF content compared with central or upper part of the film and insufficient wetting of CF resulting in the loosened structure near upper film side. The second group, on the other hand, is the improvement of mobility of molten sublayer leading to better distribution of CF throughout the film thickness and the formation of more compact structure. The different degree of contribution of these two competing processes at varied CF content and CF layer density could explain complex dependence of the film properties on the polymer sublayer. These results are important to optimize the electrical and mechanical properties of highly conductive polymer films, which can be used as electromagnetic interference shielding materials.
We have fabricated source-drain electrodes for OTFTs using a screen-printing technique with carbon-black pastes as conductive paste. And effects of dispersants contents (SOP 10-40%) on the dispersity of carbon-black pastes and characteristics of screen-printed source-drain electrodes for OTFTs using two types of dispersants (DB-2150, DB-9077) were investigated. As contents of both dispersants were increased the dispersity of carbon-black mill-bases was improved, whereas the carbon-black pastes exhibited different dispersion characteristics. For the case of DB-2150, the dispersity of the pastes was improved with increasing dispersant content and the storage modulus G' in their rheology characteristics were reduced. But, for the DB-9077, the storage modulus G' of pastes were increased with dispersant content due to the flocculated network structure formed by interactions among carbon-black powders and dispersants. But, since this flocculated network structure of the pastes using DB-9077 resulted in the conduction path of carbon-black structures, the conductivities of screen-printed electrodes and mobilities of the OTFTs with them were better than those using pastes with DB-2150.
Polypyrrole (PPy) was made by an emulsion polymerization using iron (III) chloride ($FeCl_3$) as an initiator and dodecyl benzene sulfuric acid (DBSA) as an emulsifier and dopant. Poly (2,6-dimethyl-1,4-phenylene oxide) (PPO) was sulfonated by chlorosulfonic acid (CSA). The cathode was composed of $PPy^+DBS^-$ complex, conductor powder, and PPO or sulfonated poly (2,6-dimethyl-1,4-phenylene oxide) (SPPO) as a binder or dopant. The charge-discharge performance of $PPy^+DBS^-/SPPO$ cathode was increased as the extent of about 50%, than $PPy^+DBS^-/PPO$. This is because SPPO played a role as a binder as well as a dopant. In addition, sulfonation brings out the increase of miscibility between PPy and SPPO, and the increase of contact area between cathode and electrolyte.
