적층형 박막 실리콘 태양전지 효율의 한계 및 돌파구

  • 최근에 고유가와 지구온난화로 인하여 에너지가 향후 인류의 50년을 좌우할 가장 큰 문제로 대두되고 있어서 지구의 모든 에너지의 근원인 태양광을 이용하는 태양광 발전은 무한한 청정 에너지로 각광받고 있다. 빛을 흡수하여 전기에너지로 변환하는 태양전지는 풍력, 수소연료전지, 조력, 바이오에탄올 등의 신재생에너지 기술 중에서 상품성은 가장 뛰어나지만 발전단가가 가장 높은 것이 단점이다. 태양광 발전단가를 줄여서 기존의 화석에너지를 이용한 발전단가와 견줄 수 있는 그리드 패러티(grid parity)를 달성하려면 태양전지 모듈의 고효율화와 동시에 저가화가 반드시 이루어져야 한다. 현재 태양광 모듈 시장의 90%는 효율이 12-16% 정도로 높은 단결정(single crystalline or monocrystalline) 실리콘이나 다결정(polycrystalline or multicrystalline) 실리콘 등의 벌크(bulk)형 결정질 실리콘 모듈이 차지하고 있으나 원재료인 실리콘 웨이퍼의 제조단가의 50%를 차지하고 있어서 저가화가 어렵다. 반면, 원료가스를 분해하여 대면적 기판에 증착하는 박막(thin-film) 실리콘 태양전지의 경우는 차세대 태양전지로 각광받고 있다. 박막 실리콘 모듈은 매우 적은 실리콘 원재료를 소비한다. 단결정이나 다결정 실리콘 웨이퍼의 두께가 $180-250\;{\mu}m$ 정도인 것에 비해서 박막 실리콘의 두께는 $0.3-3\;{\mu}m$ 수준이다. 더불어, 유리, 플라스틱 등의 저가 기판에 저온 대면적 증착이 가능하여 저가양산화에 유리하다. 박막 실리콘 모듈은 벌크형 실리콘 모듈(-0.5%/K) 대비 낮은 온도계수[비정질 실리콘(amorphous silicon; a-Si:H)의 경우 -0.2%/K]와 빛의 세기가 약한 산란광에서도 동작하여 평균발전시간이 증가하므로 외부환경에서 우수한 발전성능을 보이고 있다. 태양전지 모듈은 상온에서의 안정화 효율을 기준으로 가격이 책정되어($/$W_p$) 판매되기 때문에 벌크형 실리콘 모듈에 비해서 박막 실리콘 모듈은 가격대 성능비가 우수하다. 따라서 박막 실리콘 모듈은 벌크형 결정 실리콘 모듈의 대안으로 떠오르고 있으며, 레이저 기술을 이용하여 수려한 투광형 건물일체형(building integrated photovoltaic; BIPV) 모듈을 제작할 수 있는 장점도 있다. 이러한 장점에도 불구하고 기존의 양산화된 단일접합 비정질 실리콘 태양광 모듈은 효율이 6-7%로 낮아서 설치면적 및 설치 모듈의 증가가 성장의 걸림돌이 되고 있다. 박막 실리콘 태양전지의 고효율화를 도모하기 위해서 적층형 탄뎀셀로 양산 트렌드가 변화하고 있다. 이에 적층형 박막 실리콘 태양전지 효율의 한계 및 돌파구에 대해서 논의한다.

Development of a Multi-Layer Actuator With Piezoelectric Single Crystals for an Implantable Hearing Aid (압전 단결정 재료를 이용한 이식형 인공중이용 적층 액츄에이터 개발)

  • Transducers for implantable hearing aids need to be small and to have good performance in frequency responses and vibration properties. From this viewpoint, we Proposed a multi-layer actuator with the piezoelectric single crystal, PMN-PT. for the implantable hearing aid. and verified its adequacy through finite element analyses and experiments. PMN-PT multi-layer actuator samples were fabricated by stacking fourteen layers of the PMN-PT crystal. Each layer were $0.2{\cal}mm$ thick and the actuator sample was $2.8{\cal}mm$ thick in total. We evaluated the performance of the PMN-PT actuator through impedance analyses and vibration displacement measurements, and compared the result with that of a PZT actuator. Results of all the process confirmed the feasibility of the PMN-PT actuator as a good transducer for an implantable hearing aid.

  • One of the approaches for reducing the size of the quarter wavelength monopole antenna is the helix and the stacked structure. This paper presents a formula for the relationship between the geometrical parameter and the operating frequency of a slacked helix chip antenna. The stacked helix chip antenna was designed for PCS/IMT-2000 dual-bands operation. The fabricated antenna uses an FR-4 substrate with relative permittivity of 4.2, and its dimensions are $15{\times}7.5{\times}0.4mm^3$. The measured impedance bandwidth (VSWR<2) is 400MHz at the operating frequency.

  • There are various networks and communication methods are used in industrial communication. Enterprises need to convert communications between industrial devices and networks for production line expansion, factory upgrades, network segmentation, and SI. This requires designers manufactured by many manufacturers to provide communication equipment for data or protocol conversion in order to connect and transmit various other mechanical devices to the network. This paper designed industrial communication gateway that can support the transformation of industrial communication protocol using multi-layered communication module. Industrial communication gateways have a structure that connects individual communication modules using RS485 communication to multiple layers. Each communication module consisted of analog and digital data card, LAN, and CAN-enabled card. The main board processor used Atmega micro-processor, and the RS485 slot was placed to have a multi-layer communication module structure. These additive layer type communication modules support analog and digital I/O functions and LAN and CAN for wide use in industrial communication control and monitoring.

  • The buckling behavior of a fiber reinforced plastic pipe was researched. When a cylindrical structure is made of isotropic material, it shows two dimensional buckled shape which has same deformed section along the longitudinal direction. But an anisotropic cylindrical structure shows three dimensional buckled shape which has different deformed section along the longitudinal direction. Because the modulus of elasticity is varied in a certain direction when ply angles are changed, the strength of a pipe are changed as ply angles are changed. In this study, the limitation of two dimensional and three dimensional buckling mode was investigated and the buckling strength of a laminated composite pipe was evaluated.

Structural Performance of Joints for Partial Reinforced Beam Using GFRP Laminated Plate and Cylindrical Reinforced LVL Column (GFRP적층판을 활용한 보강보부재와 원통형 단판적층기둥재 접합부의 내력 성능평가)

  • After being laminated with a combination of glass fiber reinforced plastic and plywood, the GFRP laminated plate was densificated for 1 hour at $150^{\circ}C$ with pressure of $1.96N/mm^2$. A partial reinforced beam was produced by attaching the 5 GFRP laminated plates to the joint of glulam and the column. In addition, the column to beam joint was produced by using reinforced laminated wooden pin which was made of GFRP sheet and plywood, fiber glass reinforced cylindrical-LVL column. The joint was made of round log, glulam and drift pin as the reference specimen, and its moment resistance was evaluated. As a result, the strength performance of specimens with partial reinforced beams were 1.8 times stronger than the reference specimen on average. Furthermore, rupture was neither occurred on partial reinforced beam nor column. Toughness and stiffness of joints were also fine. The GFRP sheet reinforced laminated plate showed better reinforcement effect than GFRP textile reinforced one. GFRP sheet was inserted into each layer of laminate, and it showed good condition in rotation-angle and strength, therefore it is the most appropriate to reinforce the part of the beam.

  • 기존의 초음파 노즐은 단판액츄에이터형 초음파 노즐을 사용하여 연체 연료를 분사하였다. 하지만 단판액추에이터형 초음파 노즐은 300V이상의 고전압을 필요로 하여 소비전력이 높은 단점을 가지고 있다. 하지만 적층액츄에이터형 초음파 노즐은 저전압 구동이 가능하여 낮은 소비전력을 가지며, 단판액츄에이터헝 초음파 노즐보다 우수한 분사특성을 가지고 있는 장점이 있다. 또한 공진형 인버터를 사용하여 초음파 노즐을 구동하는 경우 노즐의 구동 전압을 공진에 의하여 쉽게 얻어질 수 있는 장점과 구동 스위치에 가해지는 전압의 크기가 상대적으로 작게되므로 인버터 구동에 저전압 MOSFET를 사용함으로써 도통손실의 저감 및 구성회로의 저압화 등에 유리한 이점이 있다. 본 연구에서는 적층액츄에이터형 초음파노즐을 개발하고 그에 따른 공진형 인버터를 설계하여 적층엑츄에이터형 초음파 노즐의 분사 시스템을 제안 한다. 또한 실제 액체연료인 경유를 분사하여 전기적특성과 분사특성을 조사한다.

  • This paper presents the design simulation, implementation, and measurement of a miniaturized DCS, PCS / Satellite DMB dual-band stacked chip antenna with double coupled line for mobile communication terminals. A stacked meander is realized by using a via hole with height of 0.8 mm and a diameter of 0.35 mm to connect upper- and lower-layer meander sections for a reduction of the dimensions of the antenna. In addition the stacked meander chip antenna is extended by a double coupled-line to achieve two different radiation modes. A ratio of the first frequency and second frequency vary with the geometrical parameter of coupled lines. The fabricated antenna used FR-4 substrate with relative permittivity of 4.2. And its dimensions are $15.2{\times}7{\times}0.8mm^3$. The measured impedance bandwidth(VSRW<2) are 244 and 120 MHz at the operating frequency, respectively.

  • In this paper, the frequency reconfigurable antenna is proposed and designed. The proposed antenna is designed using the vertically stacked dipole structures and have the operating band for Cellular, PCS/WCDMA/Wibro/WiFi and WiMAX. The operating frequency band is selected by three pair of PIN diodes using the voltage difference between each dipole antenna and feeding transmission lines. The proposed antenna meets the required operating bandwidth and the maximum gain for each frequency band are measured as 6.3 dBi, 5.4 dBi and 5.8 dBi, respectively. The proposed antenna in this paper can be applied for the future mobile small base station or repeater antenna because this antenna can provide the small size and high gain features.
