  • The study uses the image technique of the movie (analysis) since there are limited analyses and data of the dance film's (cinematic) grammar. The films are limited to the Wim Vandekeybus's Blush. From the analysis of the one film, films are directed using basic movie grammars. Although the films are of the same genre, it differs from the method of using image techniques as well as the director's personal art preference. The cinematic grammars enhance the effect of the movement and it emphasizes the objectives to deliver the audience true meaning of the films. Dance film is not a simple word combination of dance and film to record new type of art; dance is used for the movie's artistic and aesthetic enhancement. To find out dance is the language and important expressive tool of the dance film, at the same time cinematic grammar enhances effect of dance and objective of the film, the study uses image technique analysis. These are the results of dance film analysis by using image techniques. Firstly, Dance film can transcend time and space. Secondly, The creative director could emphasize some part that the audience should focus on to clearly deliver the intention of the choreographer. Lastly, To popularize the dance genre. If the dance film produces with more diversified stories than the resent, it will be a part of a cultural industry and could create profits. Dance film might lose the sense of realism, which is the main characteristic of the stage art; however it could feel the beauty of the film through the mise en scene.

  • As a film maker, Lee Chang Dong stands out from most Korean film makers who work within the trappings of genre films. To be sure, Lee has also used the trappings of genre films, such as noire and melodrama, but primarily as a tool to communicate with film audience. In his most recent film "Poetry", Lee seems to have even stripped even the minimal trappings of genre film. Lee commands the audience to self-reflect and work towards their own conclusions by denying them the illusory identification on screen. In this way, Lee's works are counter cinema. Lee achieves a distancing effect using such filmic apparatuses as hand-held camera, fantasy, mise en abyme, and returned gaze. Through these filmic apparatuses, Lee exposes the re-presentation of text and compels his audience to see the historical and political contexts of the text. In this study, I make the case that Lee Chang Dong's film making is an act of repetition compulsion that cultivates ethical reflection, through symbolization of the invisible realities.

  • Mr. Folman, an Israeli director, used a highly stylized form of animation in a decidedly adult way to make his documentary about the 1982 war in Lebanon, "Waltz With Bashir," in 2008. After 5 years, he has used another distinctive approach, fusing animation with live action in his latest film, a trippy and surreal undertaking called "The Congress." He dismantled the means through parodies, the core of post-modernism art and built a new meaning to create a unique world view and unique aesthetics. In this study, parodies of the modern concept of post-modernism being used as a major strategy in the creation of art have appeared the four characteristics of post-modern parody: 1) intertextuality, 2) dissolution and fusion of genres, and 3) strengthening of irony, and 4) pastiche. This study is characteristic of post-modern parody that discusses the relevance of contemporary parody and postmodernism being developed by analyzing how they appear on the practical work. Furthermore, through analysis of "The Congress", this study discusses the post-modernist world view and the creative way of creating an experimental art with parody.

  • This article attenpts to analyze, from the perspective of post-colonialism, 'Goemul'(English title, The Host), the Korean blockbuster movie that scored the greatest box-office success in the history of the Korean cinema. As Goemul eagerly copies the monster movie, a representative genre of Hollywood movies, it has close affinity with Hollywood blockbuster movie in many repects. At the same time, however, it also contains a resistance discourse that criticizes and mocks colonial of Korean society under American influences. This movie successfully carries out a post-colonial cultural translation that transforms mimicry into resistance to colonialsim. Hence, this artcle focuses on how Goemul borrows many aspects of the Hollywood monster movie but goes beyond the simple copying of it to reach post-colonial signification subverting the existing cultural regime.

  • The trend of making film from the comic source, which is a prototype of so-called media mix, is indeed a different phenomenon from the traditional ones from novel or play sources. Historically comics are recently adapted to film although they have narratives and continuity of images. It is due to the lack of social conception of comics genre and extension of imagination that is a characteristics of the comics. However, it is conspicuous that comics has been a source of film along with the development of technology of visual image reproduction and the trend of enlarging reproduction of popular media image. Since comics can provide narratives and he visual sense for film making, these trend will be continued and more vivid.

  • Comics and cartoons of superheroes in the West have adopted various semiotic systems and other art-forms, including their politico-socio-economic condition, and made parody of other popular texts, as well. Based on the idea of the development of superhero genre, this article focuses on how East Asian popular texts appropriate and reconstruct the genre, which was once considered the realization of American idea, by analyzing a series of TV animation (Japan, Sunrise,2011). Through the feature of parody with intertextuality, provides East Asian value and sensibility of characters as corporation-centered modern humans in capitalist society. This animation has similarity and difference, compared to that of Western superhero cartoons. It satires Western capitalist society and emphasizes Eastern family-oriented value. The performances of superheroes on TV represent the satire on Western style individualism and estimation through each one's achievement. It metaphorically criticizes the situation in which modern human falls into dependency on capital and media, and the capitalistic system in which public good is used for the method of private profit. emphasizes East Asian value of human and society, the cooperative relation for the success and maintenance of community by combining members of state and society through familial sensibility. Tiger functions as a spiritual leader in the group of superheroes who have been obsessed with competition for their own private purpose rather than public cause, Bunny and other colleagues are gradually influenced by Tiger's familial communicative style. emphasizes community-centered view and self-sacrificing sensibility as an international citizen to solve social pathology of modern world.
