  • This study researched the user experience of the monthly magazine subscription service, focusing on design students and designers. The revenue of magazine industry has been declined since 2012 and some magazines stop publishing or cease to publish. That is why this studied the user experience of magazine subscription services of monthly to increase magazine sales revenue, the largest portion of whole revenue. A survey and in-depth interviews with subscribers and non-subscribers was conducted to suggest improvements for the monthly . Since this study focused on user experience of magazine subscription, it could be a future reference for studying magazine subscription service.

  • This paper aims to summarize and analyze the optical illusion designs in magazine advertisements. By giving questionnaires that compare print advertisements using the optical illusion design method and traditional print magazine advertisements without adopting the method, the paper performs a quantitative analysis of technical statistics along with a factor analysis of reliability and exploration using IBM SPSS 27.0. when designing through visual illusion expression methods, you can design from the perspective of visual impact and how the information contained in the product is expressed. While making full use of the characteristics of visual illusion, appropriate use of the combination of visual language and overall structure to maximize the brand The effectiveness of information transmission.

  • Information technology (IT) revolution rapidly advanced from the end of the 20th century has caused an extreme change in the publication market, which brought fierce struggle for existence. In this whirlpool, magazine, which is settling as a part of culture and as a center field of publication, presswork, is concentrating in making new determined position with comparatively liberal theme. So identity study that enables readers to remember a magazine more easily, will suggest a new direction of improvement as a culture business by inducing the brand-making of a magazine. This study is focused on the ability of configuration of its unique image of a magazine building an identity in the magazine design field. Each type of magazine has common characteristics but even though it is grouped into same type, it shows mobility on the relative importance of application according to the strategy of the magazine rather than matching perfectly to the type. The result is limited to the range of professional design magazine. However, through result-pursuing study procedure, it is anticipated of its gui dance of improvement of magazine design at large as well as professional design magazine by inquiring of consequence and utility of Magazine Identity in the digital age and clarifying the role of magazine design.

  • Today, as era of Internet competition, experimental magazines-created especially for young adult group-are also trying to convert themselves into a internet magazines. This study intends to find out contents format and visual expression that should be considered for on-line conversion of these magazines. The industry's leading experimental magazines, for example, 'ttl', 'Paper', and 'webzine sponge' which co-exist in both printed and web-based format are to be examined by their contents, typography, colors, pictures& illustrations and others. This study intends to exam and suggest possible contents format and visual expression which they ought to evolve with.

  • The purposes of this study were to examine the features of web fashion magazines and to suggest an effective website model for them. Seven web fashion magazines were analyzed. The evaluating criteria included: contents, design, navigation, and services. In addition, online-questionnaires were sent to 40 end users to obtain the information regarding user behaviors on the elected web fashion magazines. The results show that a suggested model should include various aspects: 1) providing currents information. 2) consistency in design, 3) easy in navigation, and 4) searching function etc.

Analysis on Visual Grammar of Female Images in Cover of Feminist Magazine Covers (페미니스트 잡지 표지 사진의 여성 이미지에 대한 시각 문법 분석)

  • This study analyzes the characteristics regarding the image of women in feminist magazine covers. Along with fundamental analysis of the female image that appeared on the covers of feminist magazines and the grammar of visual design by Kress and van Leeuwen, a methodology of socio semiotic research, this study explores the structure and driving principles of symbols that have organized female images. The subject of analysis is set to 200 covers of magazines published from the 1960s to the 2010s. Through analysis, first, female images represented in the covers of feminist magazines showed women of various races, age groups, appearances, and occupations, and the degree od emphasis on the physique was fewer and natural-looking. Second, the study confirms that feminist magazines actively utilize representational and interactive metafunctions to deliver symbolic information such as messages of confidence, strength, and courage. Third, the organized symbols affected the recipient's understanding and interpretation of images. I hope this study helps to contemplate ways to express female images and the dynamic and diverse aspects of women.

  • issued in the U.S is a magazine specialized in graphic design, which has a totally different style from commercial magazines such as show case. The main motive why Rudy VanderLans, the publisher, first issued this magazine in the early 1980s is his assertion that there is no design paradigm of universial concept in the aspect of viaual communication design. Also, it started from his recognition that a medium for letting a new generation's show their liberal thinking and experimental expressions. This study looks at theologies and assertions on new graphic concept, which is called the New Wave of graphic design by classifying the plans of into form and contents, and analyzes its specialty in design. Also, this study examines the overall trends of non-Grid editorial design since the modern style. By doing so, I could have a general look at the progressive traits and their futuristic directions that become to have a shorter life cycle with the advent of the 21st century's information era, high-tech media and the change of production environment by digital technology.

  • 본 연구의 목적은 한국 잡지 속에 나타난 자동차광고의 레이아웃디자인 트랜드를 연구해 보고자 한다. 국내자동차 전문국내 잡지 모터매거진(motor magazine)속에 나타난 자동차잡지광고 50개를 조사 분석하여 타이포그래피, 사진, 색상, 여백의 4가지 요소를 분석한 결과 사진의 배경은 자연이미지를 주로 쓰고, 자동차사진은 입체감이 잘 나타나도록 45도 각도로 되어있으며, 가독성의 중요함을 서체의 크기나 정렬방법을 통하여 알 수 있었다.
