In electrical impedance tomography (EIT), modified Newton Raphson (mNR) method is widely used inverse algorithm for static image reconstruction due to its convergence speed and estimation accuracy. The unknown conductivity distribution is estimated iteratively by minimizing a cost functional such that the residual error namely the difference in measured and calculated voltages is reduced. Although, mNR method has good estimation performance, EIT inverse problem still suffers from ill-conditioned and ill-posedness nature. To mitigate the ill-posedness, generally, regularization methods are adopted. The inverse solution is highly dependent on the choice of regularization parameter. In most cases, the regularization parameter has a constant value and is chosen based on experience or trail and error approach. In situations, when the internal distribution changes or with high measurement noise, the solution does not get converged with the use of constant regularization parameter. Therefore, in this paper, in order to improve the image reconstruction performance, we propose a new scheme to determine the regularization parameter. The regularization parameter is computed based on residual error and updated every iteration. The proposed scheme is tested with numerical simulations and laboratory phantom experiments. The results show an improved reconstruction performance when using the proposed regularization scheme as compared to constant regularization scheme.
The objective of this study was to analyse the residual stress in Larix kaempferi board during and after kiln-drying. The boards were primarily intended for using as laminar of cross laminated timber (CLT). In this study, the equivalence of moisture content by equalizing treatment was proved and reduction of residual stress by conditioning treatment was quantified. Prong test and slice test were carried out to analyse the residual stress in wood during drying. Transverse casehardening was measured immediately after making prong sample. Residual stress of four parts in wood from surface to center was analyzed quantitatively based on elastic deformation after just cutting slices from board. Tensile stress and compressive stress on the surface of board during drying did not exceed 2.2 MPa when boards were dried by kiln-drying schedule of T10-C4 and T12-D5. Because the tensile strength and compressive strength of transverse direction of Larix kaempferi lumber are 2.65 MPa and 4.60 MPa, application of more severe drying schedule can be recommended. Cup and twist were reduced by about 40% by equalizing and conditioning treatments after drying.

This paper deals with the performance comparison and evaluation of blind adaptive equalizer, the PMCMA-MDD and DW-MCMA, that is used for compensation of the amplitude and phase distortion which occurs in the time dispersive channel. Basically, these algorithms are modification of MCMA cost function in order to obtain the fast convergence speed and reduced residual isi by taking the parallel and serial double structured and the combination of the concept of RCA for the updating the tap coefficient. We implements the algorithm of it and compare the recovered constellation, residual isi, MSE characteristics curve and SER in the signal to noise ratio given the time dispersive channel. As a result of simulation, the PMCMA-MDD has a good in recovered constellation than DW-MCMA. But in the SER, the DW-MCMA has a good than PMCMA-MDD.

MMA(Multi-Modulus Algorithm) is inferior at a initial equalization in high ISI(intersymbol interference), because it is the inaccurate decision. To improve this probel SMMA(Sliced Multi-Modulus Algorithm) is based on using the MCMA(Modified Constant Modulus Algorithm). SMMA is a improved capability than MMA in high SNR but is inaccurate decision in low SNR. In this paper, We propose some multi-modulus blind equalization algorithm scheme. It is a method of operation in some multi-modulus algorithm which does no obstruct a convergence property at the initial equalization in the low SNR. Proposed algorithm improves the steady-state performance. And it uses residual ISI of the equalizer output in order to decide the optimum switching time between the single modulus and the multi-modulus algorithm.

This paper propose the NM-MMA (Novel Mixed-MMA) that is possible to improving the convergence speed of current MMA algorithm and reducing the high MSE of SE-MMA algorithm, and its equalization performance were analyzed. The cost function of the NM-MMA configured as the sum of appropriate weights of gradient vector of current MMA and SE-MMA, and then it used for the updating the tap coefficient of equalizer. The computer simulation was performed applying the same environment in the channel, step size and signal to noise ratio, and the same performance index in equalizer output signal constellation, residual isi, MSE, SER was used. As a result of computer simulation, the proposed NM-MMA has fast convergence time than MMA, and less in MSE and SER performance compared to SE-MMA.

The numerical analysis to predicting the electrokinetic remediation behavior on unsaturated soil is carried out by aiding HERO, Hanyang Unversity Electrokinetic Remediation program, developed from the finite difference method and in the VISUAL FORTRAN environment. The analysis for the pure kaolinite under saturated conditions is performed on the results of the previous study of Acar (1997). Also the predictions to the characteristics of electrokinetic remediation on unsaturated conditions are performed and the conclusions summarized as follows. First, pH of the electrolyte in the reservoirs is not different with the degree of saturation resulted from the changes in electrical efficiency. But the advance of acid front is increased dependent on the degree of saturation in contrary to the transportation of base front. Second, below the degree of saturation of 83%, which is equivalent to the optimum water content, the removal effect increased with the decreasing of degree of saturation. But it have no effect on the efficiency of removal over the degree of saturation of 83%.
The CMA and MCMA adaptive blind equalization algorithm has an inevitable error caused by mismatching between the original constellation at the steady state after the equalization and the unique constellation. This problem is due to considering the new type constellation(constant modulus, reduced constellation) as desired constellation. In this paper, we propose a new adaptive blind equalization algorithm which can reach to the steady state with rapid convergence speed and achive the improvement of error value in the steady state. The Proposed algorithm has a new error function using the decided original constellation instead of the reduced constellation. By computer simulation, it is comfirmed that the proposed algorithm has the performance superiority in terms of residual ISI and convergence speed compared with the adaptive blind equalization algorithm of CMA family, Constant Modulus Algorithm with Carrier Phase Recovery and Modified CMA(MCMA).

This paper relates with the performance improvement of CCA (Compact Constellation Algorithm) equalization algorithm by adding the adaptive step size control in order to the minimization of intersymbol interference and additive noise effects that is occurs in the channel for digital radio transmissionl. In general, the fixed step size was used in order to adaptation in equalizer algorithm. But in proposed algorithm, the variable step size were adapted that is proposional to the nonlinear function of error signal for equalization. In order to show the improved equalizatation performance, the output signal constellation of equalizer, residual isi, maximum distortion, MSE and SER were used, then it were compared with the present CCA algorithm. As a result of computer simulation, the adaptive step size CCA has more better performance in the every performance index compared to the fixed step size CCA after in the steay state.
Purpose: Considering the rising frequency of earthquakes in Korea, it is crucial to revise the rainfall thresholds for landslide triggering following earthquake events. This study was conducted to provide scientific justification and preliminary data for adjusting rainfall thresholds for landslide early warnings after earthquakes through soil physical experiments. Method: The study analyzed the change in soil shear strength by direct shear tests on disturbed and undisturbed samples collected from cut slopes. Also, The study analyzed the soil strength parameters of remolded soil samples subjected to drying and wetting conditions, focusing on the relationship between the degree of saturation after submergence and the strength parameters. Result: Compaction water content variation in direct shear tests showed that higher water content and saturation in disturbed samples led to a significant decrease in cohesion (over 50%) and a reduction in shear resistance angle (1~2°). Additionally, during the ring shear tests, the shear strength was observed to gradually decrease once water was supplied to the shear plane. The maximum shear strength decreased by approximately 65-75%, while the residual shear strength decreased by approximately 53-60%. Conclusion: Seismic activity amplifies landslide risk during subsequent rainfall, necessitating proactive mitigation strategies in earthquake-prone areas. This research is anticipated to provide scientific justification and preliminary data for reducing the rainfall threshold for landslide initiation in earthquake-susceptible regions.
This study was carried out to evaluate the feasibility of field-scale sequential soil washing process for remediation on Kyongsangnamdo D mine soils which was heavily contaminated by arsonic. Arsenic concentration of untreated soils was $321\pm32mg/kg$. By applying the basic operating condition which was proposed from several pilot-scale experiments, arsenic concentration of treated soils was reduced 2.04 mg/kg ($99\%$ removal efficiency). We optimized the basic operating condition (mainly on washing solution concentration, cut-off size, and mixing ratio) to improve efficiently and economically the field-scale sequential soil washing process. The resulting optimized conditions were that solution concentration is 0.2M HCl, 1.0M HCl, 1.0M NaOH, that the cut-off size is 0.15mm (seive $\sharp$100), and that the mixing ratio is 1 3. Also, the optimized pH value for soil washing effluent treatment was 6 (33 ppb), in which the precipitation disruption caused by supersaturation of the floe did not occur. Results of TCLP tests showed that arsenic concentration from the washed gravels was 1.043 mg/L, that from soils ND (not detected), and that from filter cakes 0.066 mg/L. Also, the water content as a percentage of dewatered sludges was low $(48\%)$ and so the dewatered sludges can be disposed by landfilling. Through these results, we can concluded that tile field-scale sequential soil washing process developed in this study is adopted for remediation of arsenic-contaminated soils.
