Changes in Occupational Therapy Students' Occupational Balance and Quality of Life in Epidemic of COVID-19 (COVID-19 유행으로 인한 작업치료(학)과 학생들의 작업균형과 삶의 질 변화)

  • Objective : The purpose of this study was to investigate the changes in occupational balance and quality of life caused by COVID-19 in occupational therapy students. Methods : From May 27 to June 26, 2020, questionnaires were distributed to a total of 35 universities among 62 occupational therapy departments nationwide. General characteristics, COVID-19 related characteristics, OBQ and WHOQOL-BREF were used to evaluate and analyze occupational balance and quality of life. The SPSS/PC 24.0 program was used to analyze frequency analysis, crossover analysis, chi-square test, independent t-test, analysis of variance, and Pearson correlation analysis. Results : There were significant differences in school system(years), class, life pattern, quality of life, personal and public schedule depending on whether they are interested in occupational balance. There were significant differences in occupational balance(OBQ) and quality of life(WHOQOL-BREF), 'Hobby', 'new hobbies after COVID-19', 'life patterns', 'use of public transportation', 'maintenance of occupational balance', and 'quality of life'. There was a significant positive correlation occupational balance and quality of life. Conclusion : This study showed that the more people who have changed their lives due to COVID-19 are interested in work balance, and the better they maintain their work balance and emotional well-being, the higher the work balance and quality of life, and the positive correlation between work balance and quality of life was confirmed. This will be the basis for studies related to intervention strategies that can improve occupational balance and quality of life in a time when social isolation is easy due to the COVID-19 epidemic.

The Concurrent Validity of the Korean Occupational Balance Assessment(OBA) Tool (한국형 작업균형 평가(Occupational Balance Assessment)의 동시타당도 연구)

  • Objective : The purpose of this study was to establish the concurrent validity of the Korean Occupational Balance Assessment(OBA) tool. Methods : This study was conducted on 1016 people from October 1 to October 25, 2019. Data collection was performed using OBA and Occupational Balance Questionnaire11(OBQ11). The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation. Results : There was a significant correlation between the scores of the three areas of OBA and the total score of OBQ11(p<.01). All three areas were analyzed with positive correlations. The time use area (r = .554) and occupation frequency area (r = .574) were found to be correlated. Most of the sub-factors in the occupation characteristics area (importance r = .582, goal achievement r = .633, enjoyment r = .649, health r = .650) were analyzed with high correlation. Conclusion : OBA has proven to be a valid and reliable assessment tool for measuring occupational balance. Further research needs to provide guideline on occupational balance for usefulness in clinical area.

Analysis of Flow and Emotional Experience of College Student Among Type of Occupational Balance Using Experience Sampling Methods Based on Smart Phone (스마트폰 기반 경험표집법을 통해 수집된 작업균형유형에 따른 대학생의 몰입과 정서경험 분석)

  • The aim of this study was to identify the type of occupational balance of college students and analyze the differences between positive or negative emotions according to degree of flow. The Experience Sampling Methods (ESM) were conducted for 12 college students using smart phones. As a result, in activities of daily living group, apathy showed the highest percentage (34%) and in over work group, flow showed the highest percentage (41%). In occupational balance group, frequency of labor and leisure activities was high but boredom was experience a lot in leisure activities. When the students experienced flow in main activities, mean score of positive emotions showed the highest value. Through this study, we identified the differences of flow experience in occupational performance based on type of occupational balance and confirmed improvement of positive emotions in activities experienced flow.

Load Balancing of Heterogeneous Workstation Cluster based on Relative Load Index (상대적 부하 색인을 기반으로 한 이기종 워크스테이션 클러스터의 부하 균형)

  • The clustering environment with heterogeneous workstations provides the cost effectiveness and usability for executing applications in parallel. Load balancing is considered a necessary feature for a cluster of heterogeneous workstations to minimize the turnaround time. Previously, static load balancing that assigns a predetermined weight for the processing capability of each workstation, or dynamic approaches which execute a benchmark program to get relative processing capability of each workstation were proposed. The execution of the benchmark program, which has nothing to do with the application being executed, consumes the computation time and the overall turnaround time is delayed. In this paper, we present efficient methods for task distribution and task migration, based on the relative load index. We designed and implemented a load balancing system for the clustering environment with heterogeneous workstations. Turnaround times of our methods and the round-robin approach, as well as the load balancing method using a benchmark program, were compared. The experimental results show that our methods outperform all the other methods that we compared.

조립 라인에서의 라인균형의 개선에 관한 연구

  • 조립라인의 설계에서 중요한 목적은 조립라인을 구성하는 작업장의 수의 최소화와 각 작업장의 작업내용을 평형이 되도록 요소작업을 할당하는데 있다. 라인균형에 관한 기법은 일반적으로 발견적 기법과 컴퓨터를 이용한는 기법이 주로 개발되어있으며, 개발된 기법들은 공정설계에는 유용하게 사용될 수 있으나 가동괴고 있는 조립라인에서 생산 량의 변화 또는 작업자의 변동이 생기는 경우에 기존의 기법들이 부적절하므로, 특정한 제조 현장 조립라인의 특성에 맞는 기법이 개발되었다. 본 연구는 제조현장에서 공정설계뿐 아니라, 관리 및 개선의 도구로서 유용하게 활용하기 위하여 제조현장의 여러가지 제약조건 가운데서 요소작업의 결합기준과 작업자의 변동성을 고려하여 생산량의 변화 및 작업자의 변동에 따른 공정 배치를 가능하게 하는 개선된 라인균형기법의 개발에목적이 있다. 작업배치를 효과적 으,로 전개하기 위하여요소작업을 블록으로 나누고 Back Tracking 방법, 네트워크의 Branch Node 개념을 도입하여 새로 운 알고리즘을 개발하여 분석평가하였다.

Development of Korean Occupational Balance Assessment(K-OBA) Tool (한국형 작업균형 평가도구 개발)

  • Objective : The purpose of this study was to develop an assessment tool to measure Korean occupational balance. Methods : From March 2017 to July 2019, preliminary questionnaire was prepared through analysis of previous research and expert focus meeting, and preliminary questions were selected through the Delphi survey. In order to verify the validity of the items, Rash analysis was conducted to analyze the persons and items fitness, the distribution of item difficulty, separation reliability, and the appropriateness of the rating scale. Results : Among 141 subjects, 9 (6.38%) in time use and 11 (7.80%) in the occupation area were inappropriate subjects. As a result of analyzing the appropriateness of the items except for the inappropriate subjects, the 3 items were judged as ineligible items, but 1 item of the occupation characteristics was finally deleted based on the theoretical and clinical grounds. In the analysis of the scale, 4 points were more appropriate than the 5 point scale, and the separation reliability was .86~.94. Finally, 3 categories (time use, occupation area, occupation characteristics) and 18 items were selected. Conclusion : The occupational balance assessment tool was selected three categories and 18 questions finally, three categories and 18 questions, and was developed on a four-point Likert scale. Further research needs to prove the concurrent validity of the K-OBA and to analyze the factors that influence the occupational balance.

Influence of Fall-preventive Occupational Therapy Applied to Elderly in the Community upon Balance Ability (여성노인에게 적용한 낙상예방 작업치료가 균형 능력에 미치는 영향)

  • This study is to look into the effectiveness of fall-preventive occupational therapy of elderly by clarifying the influence of occupational therapy applied to female elderly in the community upon balance ability. A 6-week occupational therapy program including both training and exercise for prevention of fall down was applied by dividing into 13 persons of experimental group and 13 persons of control group for female elderly aged more than 65 years who were capable of independence gait and have not taken any drug to adversely affect balance. For balance ability assessment, the Berg balance scale and the Tetrax fall index were used. The Berg balance scale in experimental group was shown to be 48.38 to 50.69 through the 6-week program, indicating changes in significance level(p=.017). The Tetrax fall index in experimental group was shown to be 46.77 to 35.54 through the 6-week program(p=.000). Changes in significance level were not found for both the Berg balance scale and the Tetrax fall index in control group. As seen from the results of this study, it is found that 6-week application of the fall-preventive occupational therapy program including fall prevention training and exercise was effective for promotion of elderly's balance ability, and further studies just on the effect of fall prevention training are required to be made.

Efficient Task Distribution Method for Load Balancing on Clusters of Heterogeneous Workstations (이기종 워크스테이션 클러스터 상에서 부하 균형을 위한 효과적 작업 분배 방법)

  • The clustering environment with heterogeneous workstations provides the cost effectiveness and usability for executing applications in parallel. The load balancing is considered as a necessary feature for the clustering of heterogeneous workstations to minimize the turnaround time. Since each workstation may have different users, groups. requests for different tasks, and different processing power, the capability of each processing unit is relative to the others' unit in the clustering environment Previous works is a static approach which assign a predetermined weight for the processing capability of each workstation or a dynamic approach which executes a benchmark program to get relative processing capability of each workstation. The execution of the benchmark program, which has nothing to do with the application being executed, consumes the computation time and the overall turnaround time is delayed. In this paper, we present an efficient task distribution method and implementation of load balancing system for the clustering environment with heterogeneous workstations. Turnaround time of the methods presented in this paper is compared with the method without load balancing as well as with the method load balancing with performance evaluation program. The experimental results show that our methods outperform all the other methods that we compared.

Occupational Balance and Time Use Satisfaction of Adolescents With Disabilities (장애 청소년의 작업 균형과 시간 사용 만족감에 관한 연구)

  • Objective : This study used the data of the National Statistical Office to analyze the time use of disabled youth and their self-satisfaction with it by their type of occupation. Methods : Using raw data extracted from Statistics Korea, 84 disabled youth from 10 to 24 years old were re-classified into six occupational areas based on Occupational Therapy Practice Framework (OTPF)-3. The occupational types were classified according to the time use by individuals based on data from Statistics Korea. Finally, according to the type of occupation, self-satisfaction with the use of time was identified. Results : The total amount of time spent by disabled youths was the largest in the rest and sleep categories, followed by daily living, education, leisure, social participation, and play. The analysis of occupational types showed that the groups were turned around (10.71% of participants), high activity group (50.00%), low activity (28.57%), and balanced (10.71%). There were significant differences between types in the first five of the aforementioned categories. There was no significant difference in the lack of time use, but there was a significant difference among their satisfaction with their use of time. The balanced type (21.53%) reported the most satisfaction. inadequacy Conclusion : The purpose of the project was to provide the raw data of intervention activities that can improve the quality of life and health of disabled youth. By analyzing their time use and occupations, deficiencies in time management and their satisfaction with their use of time can be noted.

A Dynamic Load Balancing Framework based on Mobile Agent (이동 에이전트 기반의 동적 작업 부하 균형 프레임워크)

  • 네트워크의 보편화와 개인용 컴퓨터의 고급화를 통한 가용 자원의 확장은 분산 컴퓨팅환경에서 작업 부하 균형의 성능 향상을 기대할수 있게 되었다. 하지만 이를 현실화시키기 위해서 다음과 같은 제약 사항을 극복해야 한다. 첫째 네트워크 연결된 각각의 시스템은 이질적인 하드웨어와 운영체제로 구성되어있다. 둘째 네트웍 대역폭의 격심한 변화가 존재하며 상이한 시스템 성능 차이가 존재한다. 셋째 어플리케이션의 요구조건이 상이하다. 본 논문에서는 작업부하 균형에 이동 에이전트 패러다임을 적용하며 위의 문제점을 해결하기 위하여세가지의 사항을 추가한다. 1)이질적인 분산 컴퓨팅 환경에 어플리케이션을 동적으로이식하기 위하여 분산 객체 지향 미들웨어인 CORBA[1] 기반 MASIF[2]를 이용한다. 2)유휴 자원정보에 기반한 어플리케이션의 동적배치를 위하여 지원 감지 모니터링을 실행한다. 3) 다양한 어플리케이션의 요구 조건을 만족시키기 위하여 다양한 모니터링 알고리즘을 동적으로 로드하는 자바 객체, MonitorHandler를 제안한다. 제안한 프레임워크의 실효성을 검증하기 위하여 프로토타입 어플리케이션을 구현하였다. 실험 결과 유휴 자원을 고려한 동적 배치가 정적배치나 초기 정보에 의한 단 한번의 배치보다 각각 57% 와 26%의 성능 향상을 보였다. 제안하는 프레임워크는 작업부하 균형 어플리케이션의 개발을 용이하게 하며 범용성과 확장성을 제공한다.
