Maritime Target Image Generation and Detection in a Sea Clutter Environment at High Grazing Angle (높은 지표각에서 해상 클러터 환경을 고려한 해상 표적 영상 생성 및 탐지)

  • When a free-falling ballistic missile intercepts a maritime target in a sea clutter environment at high grazing angle, detection performance of the ballistic missile's seeker can be rapidly degraded by the effect of sea clutter. To solve this problem, it is necessary to verify the performance of maritime target detection via simulations based on various scenarios. We accomplish this by applying a two-dimensional cell -averaging constant false alarm rate detector to a two-dimensional radar image, which is generated by merging a sea clutter signal at high grazing angle with a maritime target signal corresponding to the signal-to-clutter ratio. Simulation results using a computer-aided design model and commercial numerical electromagnetic solver in various scenarios show that the performance of maritime target detection significantly depends on the grazing and azimuth angles.

A Pilot Study on Nondestructive Assessment of Compressive Strength Using Impact Force Response Signal (충격력 응답신호를 이용한 비파괴 압축강도 산정에 관한 기초연구)

  • This paper is to provide the results of a pilot study of the usability and possibility of impact force response signal induced from impacting an object for the assessment of compressive strength of various materials (rock, concrete, wood, etc.) nondestructively. For this study, a device was devised for impacting an object and measuring the impact force. The impact was carried out by an initial rotating free falling impact and following repetitive impacts from the rebound action which eventually disappears. Wood and rock test specimens for different strengths were tested and an impact force response signal was measured for each test specimen. The total impact force signal energy which is assessed from integrating the impact force response signal was compared with the directly measured compressive strength for each specimen. The comparison showed that the total impact force signal energy has a direct relationship with the directly measured compressive strength and the results clearly indicated that the compressive strength of construction materials can be assessed nondestructively using total impact force signal energy which is assessed from integrating the impact force response signal induced from impacting an object.

Analysis of Human Casualties on the Ground in Urban Area due to UAM Crash (UAM 추락 시 인구 밀접 지역 지상 인명피해 분석)

  • This study quantitatively analyzed the human casualties that can occur when a multicopter-type Urban Air Mobility (UAM) with a weight of about 1 ton and a speed of about 100 km/h falls in an urban area. Based on the population density and building database in Seoul, the population exposed to collisions in the event of a UAM crash was derived. Through the ballistic descent model, the accident impact radius of the UAM fall was calculated. In addition, the change in human casualties on the ground was analyzed when the accident impact radius increased. Finally, the ground risk map was created for Seoul, and it was confirmed that about 1 to 10 people could be injured when a UAM crash.

  • SMC(Sheet molding compound) composite is mainly used for forming of vehicle's body. Considering the car accident, it is essential to research the impact behavior and characteristics of materials. It is difficult to identify them because the impact process is completed in a short time. Therefore, the impact damage analysis using FE(finite element) model is required for the impact behavior. The impact damage analysis requires the parameters for the damage model of SMC composite. In this paper, ANN(artificial neural network) technique is applied to obtain the parameters for the damage model of SMC composite. The surrogate model by ANN was constructed with the result in LS-DYNA. By comparing the absorption energy in drop weight test with the result of ANN model, the optimized parameters were obtained. The acquired parameters were validated by comparing the results of the experiment, the FE model and the ANN model.

Study on Non-destructive Assessment of Compressive Strength of Rock Using Impact Force Response Signal (타격력 응답신호를 이용한 암석의 비파괴 압축강도 산정방법에 관한 연구)

Three different kinds of rock specimen were tested and an impact force response signal was measured for each test specimen.   • 급격한 산업화와 도시화로 인한 도시유역의 불투수면의 증가와 이에 따른 배수능력의 저하로 인해 도시 물순환의 왜곡이 발생하였다. 따라서 과거 도시 물관리 기법의 한계가 나타났으며 이를 위해 저영향개발 기법 등과 같은 도시 물관리 기법의 패러다임이 변화하였다. 본 연구에서는 저영향개발 기법에서 도시유역 내 활용이 유용한 침투형 시설 중 투수블럭에 대한 물순환 성능평가를 실외실험을 통해 분석하였다. 성능평가 실험은 부산대학교 양산캠퍼스 한국 GI&LID 센터 내 투수블록 뿐만 아니라 블록 하부 골재층까지 설치가 가능하도록 되어있어 실제 현장과 유사한 환경을 구축이 가능한 2.4×10.9×0.4 (m) 규모의 주차장형 LID 실증시험시설을 활용하였다. 인공강우 분사를 위한 실외 인공강우모사 장치 크기는 2×2(m)으로 본 시험을 위하여 5개의 인공강우모사 장치를 연결하여 활용하였으며, 본 시험장치는 강우를 공급하기 위한 수조와 펌프, 일정한 유량을 유입하기 위한 유량계, 강우를 분사하기 위한 노즐, 인공강우가 실제 강우와 같이 자유낙하 하도록 구현하기 위한 오실레이터 등으로 구성되었다. 시험대상인 틈새투수블록은 석재블록 규격 400×600×100 mm이며 재질은 받침안정층(흙), 투수블록(화강석)으로 구성되어 있다. 실험의 시나리오는 시험체에 강우강도 30mm/hr, 50mm/hr, 100mm/hr에 해당하는 양을 1시간 동안 유입하여 시험 시작 후, 강우지속시간, 표면유출지속시간, 표면유출량을 1분 단위로 측정. 시험체에 유공관이 설치된 경우에는 침투유출지속시간, 침투유출량도 함께 1분 단위로 측정하였으며 각 강우강도별로 측정하고, 1회 측정 후, 각 시험별 시험 대상체의 조건을 같게 하기 위한(하부 지반의 건조) 약 3일 이후(상황에 따라 변동 가능) 시험하였다. 본 실험의 결과, 강우강도가 30 mm/hr와 50 mm/hr인 경우에는 화강석 틈새투수블록포장에서 지표 유출이 발생하지 않았으며, 강우강도 100 mm/hr의 경우 260 L의 지표 유출이 발생하여, 불투수표면 대비 84%의 지표유출 저감률을 보여줌으로서 투수블럭에 물순환 성능에 대한 효과를 분석하였다.

  • 여수로는 수리시설의 계획저수위보다 높아진 수위를 낮추기 위하여 물을 안전하고 신속하게 방류하는 시설로 조절형식과 비조절 형식으로 구분한다. 조절형식은 인위적으로 조절수문을 이용하여 수위를 조절하는 형식으로 수문식과 밸브식으로 분류하며, 이상홍수대비 비상방수문에 많이 사용되고 있다. 비조절형식은 자연적으로 수위를 조절하는 형식으로 개수로와 관수로로 분류한다. 개수로에는 측수로식, 슈트식, 자유낙하식, 월류식이 있으며, 관수로에는 터널식, 선굴식, 암거식, 사이펀식이 있다. 한국농어촌공사가 관리하는 저수지는 3400개소로 측수로식 2091개소, 월류식 1269개소, 사이펀식 5개소, 선굴식 3개소, 기타 56개소로 비조절형식 여수로가 약 98%를 차지하고 있다. 2003년도에 재해대비 수리시설 설계기준이 개정되어 유역면적 2,500ha, 총저수량 500만m3이상이고 하류지역의 재산 및 인명피해가 클 것으로 예상되는 저수지는 PMF를 설계홍수량으로 적용할 것을 규정하고 있다. 이러한 설계기준의 홍수빈도를 적용하기 위해 기존 저수지의 치수능력증대 사업이 추진되고 있다. 치수능력증대방안으로는 제당높이 증고, 보조여수로 설치, 기존여수로의 확장 등 다양한 방안들이 있으며, 구조물 안정성, 경제성, 현장 여건을 고려한 시공성 등을 종합적으로 고려하여 채택하고 있다. 그 중 가장 대표적인 방안이 기존의 설계빈도를 초과하는 PMF 홍수량에 대하여 추가로 보조여수로를 설치하여 방류하는 방안이다. 본 연구에서는 기존 사이펀 여수로가 설치되어 있는 저수지에 측수로식 여수로와 사이폰식 여수로를 신설하여 FLOW-3D로 수치해석을 수행하였다. PMF 유입에 대한 저수지의 안정성을 확보하고, 이상강우에 의한 재해를 사전에 예방하기 위하여 신설 여수로의 방류능력, 접근 유속, 허용최대유속 등 각종 수리특성을 분석하여 홍수량 배제 능력을 검토하였다.

Results and Lessons Learned from the Operation of a Cubesat for the Microgravity Science Mission with Shared Ground Stations (공유 지상국을 활용하여 획득한 마이크로중력 과학임무 큐브위성의 운영 결과와 교훈 )

  • Currently, investigations in microgravity environments are carried out in a variety of applications, including drop towers, where experiments can be performed for short periods of time, and space stations, where time is not limited. However, producing a microgravity environment for long-term scientific research requires huge development expenditures and efforts. As a result, if the microgravity experiment is carried out on a cubesat, the variety of scientific studies will likely increase even more due to its low cost. The Korea Microgravity Science Laboratory (KMSL) cubesat, which has these features, is a satellite that has carried out microgravity science missions. On March 22, 2021, the KMSL satellite was launched by a Soyuz2.1a from Baikonur in Kazakhstan and operated normally for nearly two months. This article presents results and lessons gained for successfully completing science missions in microgravity based on the KMSL satellite's operational experience.

Dynamic Modeling and Simulation of a Towing Rope using Multiple Finite Element Method (다물체 요소이론을 이용한 예인줄 동역학의 모델링 및 시뮬레이션)

  • After towing rope connecting a barge to a tug was subdivided into multiple finite elements, then those dynamic models was established using Newton's second law and considering the external force and moment such as tension, drag, Coriolis force, gravity, buoyancy, and impact due to free surface acting on each element. While the previous research on the model of towing rope considered only translation, five-degree-of-freedom equations of motion except roll based on the body-fixed frame were established in this paper. All elements are connected by a spring and a damper, and the stiffness of the spring was set as the equivalent value of the real rope. In order to confirm the established multiple finite element model, various scenarios such as freely falling of towing rope in the air and above the free surface, accelerating of a tug which tows a barge connected by towing rope, and sinusoidal moving of a tug were set up and simulated. As the results, the trajectories of the tug, the barge, and the towing rope showed good tendencies to the ones of real expected situations.

Study on the Shape of Appendage for the Reduction of Motion of Floating Wind Turbine Platforms (부유식 풍력 하부구조물의 운동 저감을 위한 부가물 형상 연구)

  • In general, to maximize the supply and efficiency of floating offshore wind power generation energy, the motion caused by wave attenuation of the substructure must be reduced. According to previous studies, the motion response was reduced due to the vortex viscosity generated by the damping plate installed in the lower structure among the waves. In this study, a 5 MW semi-submersible OC5 platform and two platforms with attenuation plates were designed, and free decay experiments and numerical calculations were performed to confirm the effect of reducing motion due to vortex viscosity. As a result of the model test, when the heave free decay tests were conducted at drop heights of 30 mm, 40 mm, and 50 mm, compared with the OC5 platform, the platform with two types of damping plates attached had relatively improved motion damping performance. In the model test and numerical calculation results, the damping plate models, KSNU Plate 1 and KSNU Plate 2, were 1.1 times and 1.3 times lower than OC5, respectively, and the KSNU Plate 2 platform showed about two times better damping performance than OC5. This study shows that the area of the damping plate and the vortex viscosity are closely related to the damping rate of the heave motion.
