With the increase of the aging population in Korea, the welfare of Korean elderly has become one of main concerns of the society. One essential factor that may enhance the quality of life of the elderly is the active social participation. Involvement in the volunteer activity is one form of social participation that benefits both society and individual. The purpose of this study is to examine the level of Korean elderly's participation in volunteer activities and factors related to their participation in the context of different age group. People aged 55 and over from wave 2 data of Korean Longitudinal Study of Ageing are grouped into pre-old(55-64), young old(65-75), and old old (75 and older). Main analytic tools include descriptive statistics and logistic regression analysis. Results indicated that social relationships of the elderly were the most important factors related with their participation with voluntary activities. Also highlighted is the importance of considering the diversity among the older population.

The purpose of this study was to examine the influences of employees' volunteer activities on organizational behavior and the mediating effect of positive psychological capital in the relationship with organizational commitment, and the mediating effect of perceived organizational support adjusted through positive psychological capital. The collected 347 survey data were analyzed using SPSS 21.0 program. As a result, the mediating effect of positive psychological capital and the moderating effect of perceived organizational support were found. It was found to have a mediated moderating effect of perceived organizational support. Further research on extended concepts of organizational behavior of employee volunteers is needed.

The purpose of this research is to provide synthesized findings on the effect of volunteering among the elderly on their life satisfaction and depression. In order to do that, we conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis from selected studies which were published in Korea. From five databases and three government web sites, 47 research papers were selected based on the eligible criteria and the 53 effect size data were extracted. The results are: The effect size of elderly volunteering on life satisfaction was 0.348 with 95% confidence interval of 0.286 to 0.408. The summary effect of elderly volunteering on depression was -0.310 with 95% confidence interval of -0.439 to -0.169. These findings suggest that elderly volunteering is an effective intervention for their psychosocial health, providing some evidence in the area of volunteering policies and practices.

This study was to analyze whether volunteer motivation represents a mediated effect in the relationship between social support and multicultural acceptance by university students as a late adolescent. Among the students attending a university located in North Chungcheong Province, 256 participants have experienced volunteer work. Data analysis conducted multiple regression analysis using SPSS and analysis showed that social support of university students affected multicultural acceptance and that volunteer motivation in their relationship between social support and multicultural acceptance was fully mediated. Based on these results, it has revealed a path that the social support of university students affects multicultural acceptance through volunteer motivation. Therefore, in order to gain social support, university students should improve their ability to maintain a positive view of interpersonal relations and to cope with conflicts efficiently. They will also have to strengthen self-directing capacity in order to increase the level of motivation for volunteer participation.

The paper tried to determine relationships between volunteering and hypertension risks, symptom betterment, activity difficulty occurrences, and medicine treatment among middle-aged and older adults, with a prospective cohort study. Multilevel mixed-effects generalized linear models were used for the analysis of longitudinal panel data collected over 10 years from 2008 to 2018, using 5,867 cohort samples. The results showed that those who volunteered at least 200 hours per year were 3.4 times more lower than not-volunteering in risks of hypertension, those who volunteered yearly 50~99 hours were a lot more improved than not-volunteering in the symptom betterment, those who volunteered yearly at least 200 hours were 7.7 times lower than not-volunteering in activity difficulty occurrences, and those who volunteered yearly 50~99 hours were 2.5 times lower than not-volunteering in the occurrences of medicine treatment. These indicate that volunteering among middle-aged and older adults may have health benefits against incident hypertension. Finally the thesis discusses the study limitations, future directions of studies, and the practices implications.

자원봉사활동은 지역사회 공동체와 연대의식 강화 등 지역사회를 지탱해 주는 주요한 토대로서 지방정부의 입장에서는 지역주민의 직 간접자원을 활용할 수 있는 계기되고 개인적 입장에서는 지역사회에 기여를 통한 만족감 제고라는 상호이익이 보장되는 중요한 활동이다. 따라서 자원봉사활성화를 위해 과감한 재정 및 제도적 뒷받침을 마련해 주는 동시에 민간중심의 활동이 될 수 있도록 자율성과 창의성을 최대한 보장해 주어야 한다.

This research is to make clear the volunteer activity system through analysing activity of volunteers. Main suggestions are as below. In management system, integrated cooperating system, improvement of delivering system of relief goods and developing operating manual of volunteering management are discussed. In education system, specialized education for different disaster areas, field orientation education, and training managerial positions are suggested. In supporting system, improving NDMS(National Disaster Management System), computerized program for volunteer management, insurance for volunteers, issuing a confirmation of volunteering activity, securement of emergency communication system, budget for prevention and donation are also suggested.
