The Three-Dimensional Acoustic Field Analysis using the Type C CIP Method (C형 CIP법을 이용한 3차원 음장해석)

  • The authors have investigated the acoustic field analysis using the Constrained Interpolation Profile(CIP) Method recently proposed by Yabe. This study has examined the calculation accuracy of the three-dimensional(3-D) acoustic field analysis using the type C CIP method. In this paper we show phase error of type C CIP method and the dependence on the wave-propagation direction in the type C CIP acoustic field analysis, and then demonstrate that it gives less-diffusive results than conventional analysis. Moreover, in comparison between type C-1 CIP, type C-2 CIP, type M CIP and FDTD, reports the memory requirements and calculation time of each method.

  • This study attempts at prototyping and evaluating a geovisualization tool that summarizes and explores human activity patterns using spatio-temporal trajectory data collected from GPS receiver. A set of core conceptualization developed in 'time geography' is successfully represented by our prototype based on the notion of 'space-time cube.' The notions of 'temporal dispersion cylinder' and 'parallel plane plot' are also implemented to allow funker analyses of human activity pattern on the space-time trajectory. The capabilities of the geovisualization environment we proposed include the interactive and dynamic functions that support a variety of explorations on the three components of spatio-temporal data : space(where), time(when), and object(what).

Hydrothermal Synthesis of PZT Powders. (수열법에 의한 PZT분말 합성 연구)

  • Hydrothermal synthesis of PbZ1-xTixO3 has been investigated. Syntheses were performed using lead acetate triphdrate as Pb source, Ti/Zr gel by hydrolizing Ti-isopropoxide as Tiand Zr source and Zr-propoxide and KOH (0.5m, 1m, 2m) as mineralizer. The hydrothermal synthesis has been examined at 140℃, 150℃ and 160℃. Synthesized PZT powders showed a rectangular shape and were agglomerate. At 1m and 2m KOH concentrations PZT powders were synthesized the respective time of 8 hrs and 1hr but at 0.5m KOH concentration phase pure PZT powders were not synthesized for 5days reaction. At the conditions of low temperature and low KOH concentration unreacted Ti/Zr gel remained although synthesized powders were almost PZT. The size of PZT powders increased with KOH concentrations. PbO solid solutions were formed as intermediate phases and these were classified to PbO-10%TiO2 solid solution and PbO-3% TiO-3% TiO2 solid solution.

  • Ameloblastomas are benign epithelial neoplasm of the jaw comprising approximately 1-3.3% of all odontogenic cysts and tumors. Although most are microscopically benign, they are generally considered to be locally aggressive and destructive, exhibiting a high rate of recurrence. Treatments of them contain the conservative treatments on unilocular types and radical treatments on multilocular types. Classifications based on the histologic features of ameloblastoma generally included the follicular, plexiform, acanthomatous, basal cell, uncystic types. However, recently a new and unusual variant has been added by Eversole et. al in 1984, the histologic features of which are characterized by marked stromal desmoplastic proliferation. This is a case report of desmoplastic ameloblastoma in the anterior maxilla of 63 year-old female treated by block excision. This provides a brief review of the literature because of the rarity and unusual radiographic-histologic features of desmoplastic ameloblastoma.

3-D Visualization of Reservoir Characteristics through GOCAD (GOCAD를 이용한 저류층 속성정보의 3차원 시각화 연구)

  • Four seismic reflection horizons in 3-D seismic data, coherence derived from the seismic data, and 38 well logs from the Boonsville Gas Filed in Texas were tried to be integrated and visualized in 3 dimensions. Time surface was constructed from pick times of the reflection horizons. Average velocities to each horizon at 38 well locations were calculated based on depth markers from the well logs and time picks from the 3-D seismic data. The time surface was transformed to depth surface through velocity interpolation. Coherence was calculated on the 3-D seismic data by semblance method. Spatial distribution of the coherence is captured easily in 3-D visualization. Comparing to a time-slice of seismic data, distinctive stratigraphic features could be correctly recognized on the 3-D visualization.

  • Changes in transmission and thermoluminescent characteristics were used in order to find out the optimum growth condition of CsI single crystal scintillators which were made relatively defect-free using Czochralski method. Impurity distribution in the crystals and the intensity and number of thermoluminescent glow peaks decreased as the process of crystallization was repeated. The direction of crystal growth turned out to be (110), the crystal structure of grown CsI was bee, and its lattice constant was found to be $4.568{\AA}$. The activation energy (trap depths) of CsI:3rd was 0.45 eV and its frequency factor was $5.18{\times}10^5\;sec^{-1}$.

Ultrasound Attenuation in the Assessment of Bone Mineral Density and Elastic Modulus of Human Trabecular Bone

  • The objective of this study was to re-evaluate ultrasound attenuation as an indicator of bone properties. Ultrasound attenuation(BUA), were measured in the three orthogonal directions of trabecular bone cubes, Measurements of bone mineral density(BMD) were made using quantitative computed tomography and apparent density by weighing bone specimens and measuring their volume. Ultrasonic modulus was calculated from the standard equation with apparent density and ultrasound velocity. Ultrasound attenuation at a frequency of 0.5 MHz and BUA were correlated with BMD and ultrasonic modulus in the anterior/posterior, medial/lateral, and superior/inferior directions. Analysis of correlations demonstrated that attenuation at 0.5 MHz was superior to BUA in describing both BMD and elastic modulus of trabecular bone. This result may be used to improve current ultrasound diagnostic techniques for assessing bone status.

A Study on the Strength and Stiffness of Multi-Stage Cubic Truss Unit Structures (복합 입체형 정육면체 트러스 단위구조체의 강도 및 강성에 대한 해석 연구)

  • This paper investigated the strength and stiffness of composite truss unit structures. The model used is a core-filled model combining the Kagome model and the cube truss model. The material properties used for the analysis are 304 stainless steel with elastic modulus of 193 GPa and yield stress of 215 MPa. The theoretical equation is derived from the relative elasticity relation of Gibson - Ashby ratio, the analysis was performed using Deform 3D, a commercial tool. In conclusion, the relative elasticity for this unit model correlates with 1.25 times the relative density and constant coefficient, elasticity is inversely proportional to pore size. The relative compressive strength has a correlation with relative density of 1.25 times. Proof of this is a real experiment, the derived theoretical relationship should further consider mechanical behavior such as bending and buckling. In the future, it is hoped that the research on the elasticity and the stress according to the structure of the three-dimensional space will be continued.

  • The development of new materials is an essential key for unraveling the environmental and energy problems all over the world. Among the various application materials in this area, crystalline and two-dimensional carbon materials have been studied from points of view such as electrical conductivity, chemical stability, and surface engineering due to the assembly of honeycomb and sp/sp2 hybridization structure. Novel two-dimensional materials, including graphene and graphyne, have been continuously reported for several decades to develop in renewable energy fields. Also, various pristine/engineered two-dimensional carbon allotropes have been researched to combine metal nanoparticles in the form of a sphere, cubic, and so on. The renewable energy performance to apply for these materials is drastically increased. In this review, we introduce the research points of the 2D carbon allotrope materials, graphene and graphyne, and applications to improve the performance of renewable energy applications.

The Efficiency of Fe Removal for Pyrophyllite by Ammonia Leaching Solution, and Their Dissolution Kinetics (암모니아 용출용액을 이용한 저 품위 엽납석으로부터 Fe 제거 효율과 용해 동역학)

  • In order to remove Fe impurity from low-grade pyrophyllite ore, the effect of certain variables such as particle size, concentration of sulfuric acid, amount of ammonium sulfate, added hydrogen peroxide, and temperature were studied. The euhedral cubic pyrites were observed in the low-grade pyrophyllite ore by reflected light microscopy, and quartz and dickite were identified in the sample by XRD analysis. The results of the Fe removal experiments showed that the best Fe removal parameters were when the particle size was at -325 mesh, the addition of $H_2SO_4$, $(NH_4)_2SO_4$ and $H_2O_2$ was at a 2.0 M, 10.0 g/l, and 3.0 M concentration, respectively, and at a $70^{\circ}C$ leaching temperature. In the dissolution kinetics analysis, the dissolution of Fe from the pyrite surface was a controlled chemical reaction, and the Fe dissolution reaction was proportioned to 0.066/R, $[H_2SO_4]^{1.156}$, $[(NH_4)_2SO_4]^{0.745}$, $[H_2O_2]^{0.428}$.
