A Longitudinal Analysis of Residential Environment Quality and Housing Expense of Young Households (청년층 가구의 주거실태 변화에 관한 종단 분석)

  • This paper examines residential environment quality and housing expenses of young households through longitudinal analysis. Using the 5th and 15th Korea Welfare Panel Study (KoWePS), this research compared their housing outcomes with those of the Korean households. The statistical analysis revealed that most young households were highly-educated, salaried workers who were predominantly married men in their early 30s. There was a sharp rise in the number of female householders and one-person households. Also, the young households were largely renters of mid-sized multi-family housing with two bedrooms in non-Seoul Metropolitan Area. Their housing expense was slightly higher than the national average. As a proportion of renters of multi-family housing (exclusive of apartments) rose, the proportion of young households who spent more than 25% of their income increased faster than the national average. The proportion of young households in the Seoul Metropolitan Area outpaced the national average. Their monthly rental arrangements grew in contrast to no change in the nationwide monthly rental arrangement over the survey period, resulting in their high burden on housing expenses. Their homeownership rate was below the national average, and it decreased while the overall homeownership rate increased nationwide, implying that their housing affordability was worsened, which made it difficult for them to move up the housing ladder. Thus, this research suggests housing policies that scale up support for young households.

Analysis of Relationship between Housing Tenure and Birth in Newlywed Couples by Using Panel Data (패널자료를 이용한 신혼가구의 주택점유형태와 출산 관계 연구)

  • In this study, we investigate the interrelationship between housing tenure and childbirth by exploiting the correlation probability effect method that accounts for household heterogeneity. Using the newlywed household panel from 2011 to 2022, we find that home ownership has a positive impact on childbirth in newlyweds. Specifically, newlywed households with housing tenure show a 6.2%p higher birth rate and a 5.7%p higher second childbirth than newlywed households living in rented houses. For the case of first childbirth, we employ the probability effect probit model since the endogeneity was not detected between housing tenure and birth rate. We document the differential effects of housing tenure on childbirth in that the first childbirth rate is higher for households without housing tenures. The negative effects on first childbirth could be attributed to the economic burden due to initial housing ownership, while housing tenure could eventually provide housing stability, leading to positive effects on more than one childbirth. Finally, we identify that households with childbirth over the last year show a 4.2%p and 3.9%p lower probabilities of housing tenure in the total sample and second childbirth sample, respectively. This suggests that the increased living cost due to childbirth could delay home ownership.

Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of Oxygen Free Copper Severely Deformed by Accumulative Roll-Bonding Process (반복겹침접합압연법에 의해 강소성가공된 무산소동의 미세조직 및 기계적 특성)

  • An oxygen free copper was severely deformed by accumulative roll-bonding (ARB) process for improvement of its mechanical properties. Two copper sheets 1 m thick, 30 mm wide and 300 m long are first degreased and wire-brushed for sound bonding. The sheets are then stacked to each other, and roll-bonded by about $50\%$ reduction rolling without lubrication at ambient temperature. The bonded sheet is then cut to the two pieces of same dimensions and the same procedure was repeated to the sheets up to eight cycles $(\varepsilon-6.4)$. TEM observation revealed that ultrafine grains were developed after the third cycle, and their size was slightly increased at higher cycles. Tensile strength of the copper increased with the strain at low strain levels, but it hardly increased from 3 cycles $(\varepsilon>2.4)$ due to occurrence of dynamic recovery, even if the imposed strain increased.

용탕직접압연된 Al-Mg-Mn 합금판재의 기계적 특성

  • Al-Mg 알루미늄 합금은 강도가 높고 성형성이 우수하여 수송기기 경량화용 소재로서 사용량이 증가하고 있다. 특히고강도 특성을 보이는 Al-Mg-Mn합금은 자동차, 선박및 철도차량등의 형재 및 판재로 그 사용량이 증가하고 있다. 또한 결정립을 미세화 시킨 Al-Mg-Mn합금판재의 경우에는 온간성형으로 복잡한 형상의 판재부품제조에 사용되고 있다. 연속주조공정인 Twin roll strip casting(TRC)은용탕으로부터 직접 판재를 생산할 수 있는 공정으로 주로 순알루미늄계열의 판재 생산에 사용되고 있으나 최근에는 고강도 판재의 저비용 생산을 위하여 고합금계 판재에 적용하는 연구가 수행되고 있다. 합금량이 높은 고강도Al-Mg계 합금의 TRC 주조시 고액공존구간이 커서 더욱 정밀한 공정제어가 필요하다. 또한 기존의 슬라브주조방식보다 높은 냉각속도로 주조가 가능하기 때문에 결정립 및 정출상의 미세화공정으로 응용되기도한다. 본 연구에서는 TRC공정을 기초로 주조시 열간 압연의효과를 동시에 부여하는 용탕직접압연공정을 개발하였으며 상용 고강도 알루미늄 합금인 5083합금 판재를제조하였다. 또한 기존 Al-Mg 합금에 Mn을 첨가하여 용탕직접압연함으로서 정출상의 크기 및 밀도를 제어하여 강도가 우수한 Al-Mg-Mn 합금판재를 제조하는 기술을 개발하였다. 용탕직접압연된 Al-Mg-Mn계 합금의 경우에 주조시 높은 냉각속도로 인하여 결정립이 미세하고 Al6Mn과 같은 미세한 정출상이 다량 형성되었으며, 최종압연 및 열처리에 의하여 높은 강도를 갖는 고강도 알루미늄 합금 판재의 제조가 가능하였다.

Evaluating the Supply Plan of Public Rental Housing under the Lee Myung-bak Government -focused on housing needs of tenants in private rental housing- (보금자리 임대주택 공급목표의 타당성 평가 -민간주택 임차가구의 주거소요 분석을 중심으로-)

  • The purpose of this study is to evaluate the supply plan of public rental housing under the Lee Myung-bak government. According to the supply plan, the government will supply public rental housings by 80,000 unit every year from 2009 to 2018, and achieve 12% as stock ratio in 2018. To evaluate the supply plan, this study analyzed housing needs of tenants in private rental housing by using the raw data of Korea Welfare Panel Survey(2008). The results are as follows: (1) It is difficult for the supply plan to meet the housing needs of tenants in private rental housing. (2) The link between supply plan and stock ratio target is weak. (3) To meet the housing needs, it is necessary to supply public rental housings by 107,000 unit every year for 10 years, and, in this case, the stock ratio will be 10% in 2018. In conclusion, this study proposed that the supply plan of public rental housing should be redesigned.

  • Wireless communication environment is changing rapidly as we use new wireless communication technology such as WiBro to access high speed Internet. As a result, reliable data transmission using TCP is also expected to increase. Since TCP assumes that it is used in wired network, TCP suffers significant performance degradation over wireless network where packet losses are related to non-congestion loss. Especially RTO imposes a great performance degradation of TCP. In this paper, we analyze the loss recovery probabilities based on previous researches, and use simulation results of our algorithm to show that it prevents performance degradation by quickly detecting and recovery losses without RTO during fast recovery.

Ultra Grain Refinement and High Strengthening of Deoxidized Low-Phosphorous Copper by Accumulative Roll-Bonding Process (ARB법에 의한 인탈산동의 결정립초미세화 및 고강도화)

  • A deoxidized low-phosphorous (DLP) copper was processed by accumulative roll-bonding (ARB) for ultra grain refinement and high strengthening. Two copper sheets 1 mm thick, 30 mm wide and 300 mm long are first degreased and wire-brushed for sound bonding. The sheets are then stacked to each other, and roll-bonded by about 50% reduction rolling without lubrication at ambient temperature. The bonded sheet is then cut to the two pieces of same dimensions and the same procedure was repeated to the sheets up to eight cycles (${\varepsilon}{\sim}6.3$). TEM observation revealed that ultrafine grains were developed after the 4th cycle, and their size decreased at higher cycles. Tensile strength of the copper increased with the equivalent strain, and it reached 547 MPa which was 3 times higher than that of the initial material. It is concluded that the ARB process is an effective method for high strengthening of the DLP copper.

House Rent Control System and Its Implementation in France (프랑스 주택 임대료 규제 및 관련 제도 연구)

  • Since year 2000, French housing and rent prices rose at a rapid rate and the housing market has been overheated. Face to this phenomena, the French government enacted a new law Alur which is a legislatif tool to control the private housing rent price for the cities, where the tension of the housing market is very high. This new law has impacted the housing market in two major ways. First, for the 38 cities designated by this law, the rent price's increase rate can not rise above the IRL, which is the rent reference index. Secondly, this law also permits local authorities to control the housing rent's price following the concrete price guidance. Especially in Paris, the city applicated this method for private rental housing since 2015. This city classified its own area by 14 zones. Based on the market surveys of each sector, local authority made a guidance for private housing rent's price. The guideline is consisted of average prices, maxima and minima price by types, which is classified by the construction year, number of rooms and furnished or not. Therefore, this study aims to understand french housing rent's price control system and draw implementation for korean housing rent policies. This research is meaningful for it introduces recent foreign regislations which could be helpful to control the housing market in Korea.

Development of Human Error Probability Program for Human Error Analysis of Chemical Plants (화학 산업 시설에서의 인적 오류 분석을 위한 HEP 프로그램 개발)

  • Human errors can take place in all levels that include the design, production, construction, operation and maintenance of plant facilities. It was found that the causes were concerned with the effects of human error. This study verified characteristics of the on-site operators and error mechanism, and used the classifying sheet to analyze human error that occurred in process. Also, by applying the ASEP(Accident Sequence Evaluation Program) HRA(Human Reliability Analysis) procedure, the algorithm to estimate the HEP and the ASEP HEP program to analyze human error in the plant were developed. If it is built in on-site, possible human error incident will be prevented and the systematic human error prevention strategy will be devised.

  • Chemical plants with high-technological equipments and complex processes are continually increasing potential hazards that may result in huge industrial accidents. If an incident breaks out, it will have a hazardous effect on in-plant workers, neighboring inhabitants or the surrounding environment. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a safety management system that can pre-evaluate the safety and reduce the risk of a chemical plants. The safety management evaluation program developed in this study can implement an effective loss control management in chemical plants. It integrates important lists in safety management lists and legal measures to analyze elements systematically. It also includes incident case analysis and the required components in domestic laws.
