  • As the number of security incidents and damages increase steadily, interest in the security of society is growing, and the amount of academic interest and research is steadily increasing. However, despite these concerns and the quantitative increase in research, the terms 'security' and 'safety' have been mixed and studies have been conducted without the conceptual definition of various security terms being clearly defined. As a result, various forms of security concepts based on ICT environments have been misused. Therefore, we tried to derive the consensus of experts among the various security terms which are mixed in this study, and to summarize the concepts based on the analysis of domestic and foreign documents based on the concept of the terms. Through this research, we intend to contribute to the establishment of the academic identity of security by preventing related mistakes caused by the mixed use of terminology.

  • In Korea, currently, only the growth possibility of bioinformation industry has received the public attention, and social discussion on bioinformation management is meager. Based on this critical perspective, this study investigates the current status of public awareness of the bioinformation which can be a basis for the social discussion for bioinformation management. The most significant characteristics identified in the survey is that many citizens, while expressing their agreement on the use of biometric technology by purpose and taking an open stance on national fingerprint information collection, have considerable concern for the identity authentication system using the current biometric technology. In particular, the survey pointed out that it is hard to trust the institutions that collect the bioinformation. Also, the public expressed the particular concern for the health data including the body information and showed overwhelming consent for the necessity of more stringent regulation compared with other personal information. In regards to the medical information gathered from medical institutions, nearly 80% of the survey respondents did not agree on providing the information to commercial enterprises, and even 60% of them disagreed on using it for academic and statistical research. This result well demonstrates that thorough management of the bioinformation is required for its utilization.

Specifically, five newspapers from three countries were content-analyzed to see differences, if any, based on country level and political ideology of the newspaper. The findings showed that Japanese newspapers yielded less amount of coverage than those of Korea and China. The newspapers of Korea and China used straight news format, while Japanese newspapers used opinion news format. In terms of information source, Korean newspapers and Chinese newspapers mainly relied on the information from the government, while Japanese newspapers took the information from citizen. The difference also revealed that Korean newspapers focused on domestic situation frame and the other countries more emphasized past memory of the War times. Consequently, the three countries showed clearly different perspectives on the same historical event. These distinctions were caused from national interest rather than political ideology of the newspaper.

  • The primary source of disaster information for victims as well as ordinary people is mass media. In spite of their importance, the media often inaccurately portrays reality, which has stimulated academic debates. In Korea, however, media reporting patters of disaster have been hardly addressed. Therefore, the paper analyzes how newspaper and television news have reported typhoon Rusa between August 29 and October 1 in 2002 by using KINDS(Korean Integrated News Database System). The results show that television news tend to present more soft news stories emphasizing human interest stories than newspaper articles, relying on victims as primary interviewees. It is also pointed out that the Korean media do not play a significant role in providing disaster information to public regarding how to lessen the effects of impact through preparation. Disaster mythology representing wrong beliefs about human behavior in disaster is found in Korean media reporting, too. Unlike their western counterparts, however, Korean media seem to use the dependency image of helpless victims in order to stimulate donations. Analyses of disaster reporting patterns suggest that, in make disaster warning messages associated with behavioral responses, credible and official sources should provide clear and precise warning messages to the media, and the media also need to stress individual responsibilities in protecting his or her own properties not to make victims heavily dependent on public supports, while inducing donations.

  • This study was carried out to assess the characteristics of gabion on road cut-slopes, and analyze the scenic view preference for the gabion in Korea. 97 gabion sites from road cut-slopes were selected and were classified into 10 application types of gabion. The classification types of gabion were mostly related to the erosion and collapse prevention across road cut-slope. Gabion work sites in this study were classified into 30 sites (31%) for below 10% gradient, followed by 31 sites (32%) for 11~30% gradient, 20 sites (21%) for 31~50% gradient, and 16 sites (16%) for 51~80% gradient. Gabion works were constructed mostly in low gradient than in high gradient. 34 gabion sites (35%) among 97 sites were not covered by vegetation and 52 gabion sites (54%) showed vegetation cover rates of 1~30%. On the scenic preference analysis, public groups understood that the scenic view of gabion in cutting slope can be improved by vegetation cover, whereas expert groups prefer to scenic view of gabion only. However, expert groups encouraged subsequently vegetation covering to improve scenic view during gabion works in cutting slope.

  • The purpose of this study was attemped to investigate the clinical presentation and pathophysiology of 74-year-old female who developed pneumoperitoneum as complications of chest compression from sudden cardiac arrest. Such chest compression is the same one excercised to by-stander and paramedics. A healthy 74 year female had a sudden mental deterioration while working at a restaurant. She was transfered from 119 emergency medical system to the hospital. After the symptom developed, by-stander called 119 who carry out 6 minutes Cardiopulmonary resuscitation(CPR). Defibrillation and CPR was carried out by health provider after the arrival, and the patients spontaneous circulation returned. After Return of spontaneous circulation(ROSC), patients was transferred to the nearst hopspital, but suspicious of myocardial infarction, she was again transferred to a larger scale hospital. At the hospital she took X-rays and Abdominal CT, and the results of suspicious gastro-intestinal perforation near gastro-esophageal junction, surgical repair was recommended. But in operation room, while operation went on, cardiopulmonary arrest appeared again, and she expired. For this reason, prehospital CPR needs more accurate localization of cardiac massage and serious consideration of positive pressure ventilation. Moreover, treatment of pneumoperitoneum after CPR needs more cautious consideration of patients hemodynamic stability.

Experienced as a way to overcome fear and difficulty. Few prior studies have been done on experience factors as ones influencing entrepreneurial intention. In this study, I studied whether the experience of successful entrepreneurship through cultural indirect experience affect the resolution of fear about establishing a business. Among the influencing factors on the entrepreneurial intention, business motivation, social support and awareness of entrepreneur were selected as independent variables. In addition, by applying the cultivation theory, the drama role models were set as a controlling variable. For empirical analysis, a survey was conducted targeting 399 ordinary persons. The hypothesis was tested through regression analysis using the SPSS 23 statistical package. The moderating effect was analyzed using Process Macro 3.5. Self-fulfillment, livelihood, economic motivation, social support, and awareness of entrepreneur are sub-factors of business motivation, And all of these had a positive significant effect on entrepreneurial intention. Among the significant variables, self-fulfillment was found to have the greatest effect. On the other hand, as a result of analyzing the moderating effect of the drama role model, it was found play a role in controlling between self-fulfillment and entrepreneurial intention, between livelihood and entrepreneurial intention, and between awareness of entrepreneur and entrepreneurial intention. Based on these research results, academic and practical implications were presented.
