In this study, the effect of grouping by communication apprehension level in paired think-aloud problem solving was examined. Three classes of 9th graders (N=99) were randomly assigned to a control group, homogeneous group or heterogeneous group based on the test scores of their communication apprehension. After the instructions concerning ‘writing balanced chemical equation', ‘the law of conservation of mass', and ‘the law of definite proportions' for 7 class hours, students' chemistry problem solving ability and the perception to the paired think-aloud problem solving were examined. Two-way ANOVA results revealed that there was an interactive effect in the score of chemistry problem solving ability test. In simple effect test for the students of low communication apprehension, the scores of the heterogeneous group were found to be significantly higher than those of the control group. However, the students in homogeneous group had relatively positive perceptions to the paired think-aloud problem solving.
This study explored the learning environment for promoting conceptual understanding, immersion, and situational interest in small group learning using augmented reality, according to the level of students' self-regulation. 95 ninth-grade students from a coed high school in Seoul participated in this study. Students were divided into a group of four and each group was randomly assigned to three learning environments that provide one marker and one smart device(1-1), two markers and two smart devices(2-2), and four markers and four smart devices(4-4) for a group. Small group learning using augmented reality was conducted for two class periods about the chemical bonding concept from the Integrated Science subject. Two-way ANOVA results revealed that students in the 4-4 learning environment scored significantly higher than those in the 1-1 or 2-2 learning environment in a conception test. Changes in the learning environment have affected students with a low level of self-regulation. In an immersion test, students in the 4-4 learning environment scored significantly higher than those in the 1-1 learning environment, and changes in the learning environment have affected students with a high level of self-regulation. As a result of situational interest test, students in the 4-4 and 2-2 learning environments scored significantly higher than those in the 1-1 learning environment, and changes in the learning environment have affected students with a low and a high level of self-regulation. Based on the results, the educational implications of the learning environment for promoting conceptual understanding, immersion, and situational interest in small group learning using augmented reality are discussed.

This study examined the effects of combined exercise training for preventing falls on the physical performance, falling index, and balance in elderly women. All subjects (N = 32) were recruited and divided randomly to either a combined exercise group (n= 16, EX) or non-exercise control group (n = 16, CON). During 12 weeks of training, the subjects in the EX performed the combined exercise programs (three times/week, 60min/session), and the subjects in the CON maintained their ordinary lives. At the PRE, MID, POST tests, All subjects completed senior fitness tests(dynamic balance, two minutes walking, sit and stand for 30 seconds), tests for falling risk with Tetrax, and tests for posture balance with the spine balance 3D. After the baseline tests, two-way repeated-measures ANOVA with contrast testing was used with SPSS 21.0. Alpha was set to 0.05. In the results, the dynamin balance (p=.001), two minutes walking (p=.001), sit and stand for 30 seconds (p=.001), falling risk (p=.002), and posture balance (p=.034) in the EX were significantly different, but not in the CON. Thus, elderly females who performed combined exercise training for 12 weeks can increase their physical fitness & posture stability and reduce their falling risk.
To assess the effect of noise on the blood pressure of workers, 70 weaving and 70 refining female workers in 15 to 24 years of ages were tested for the changes of blood pressure before and after exposure to the noise. The noise levels at work place were 99 dB (A) for weavers and 80 dB(A) for refiners. The mean age of refiners was 17,7 years and that of weavers was 18.6 years, and the difference in mean ages was statistically significant (p<0.05). The means of heights, weights and working durations were not significantly different between two groups. The mean systolic blood pressure of the weavers was 112.5mmHg before exposure to the noise and it was increased to 115.7mmHg after exposure to 99 dB(A) of noise for 30 minutes, and the mean diastolic blood pressure from 71.6mmHg to 74.1mmHg. These increments of blood pressure were statististically significant (p<0.05). The mean systolic blood pressure of the refiners was decreased from 108.9mmHg to 106.7mmHg after exposure to 80 dB(A) of noise for 30 minutes, and the mean diastolic blood pressure from 67.3mmHg to 67.1mmHg. These changes of blood pressure were not statistically significant. The mean systolic and diastolic blood pressure of the weavers before exposure to the noise were significantly higher than that of refiners (p<0.05). The difference of blood pressure between refiners and weavers was significantly associated with noises (p<0.05), and not ages and their interactions. The study results support the hypothesis that exposure to excessive noise increases the blood pressure of workers.

Objective:This study was designed to investigate the difference between executive function of Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder(ADHD) group and that of neurotics, and to investigate the developmental aspects of ADHD group's executive function. Method:Executive function between ADHD(N=87) and Neurotics(N=19) was evaluated through their performance on the Wisconsin Card Sorting Test. The results were analyzed by 2-way ANOVA and t-test. Results:The results revealed group difference between ADHD and neurotics in total correct reponses, total error responses, nonperseverative errors, number of categories completed, conceptual level responses. There was no significant difference between the performance of 8-12 aged group and 13-15 aged group. But 7-8 aged group showed significantly poor performance than 8-12 aged in total responses, total error responses, perseverative responses, perseverative error responses, nonperseverative error responses. Conclusions:In comparison to the neurotics group, the children of ADHD group are suggested to be lacking the ability to correct their responses according to the external feedback and they probably respond randomly without self-control. However, as there is no difference between perseverative errors and perseverative responses, the interpretation of this finding warrants caution. It also suggests that the developmental aspects should be considered in the studies of executive functions because there are differences in the performance of executive functions by ages.

Mineral trioxide aggregate have been used for many years as a pulp therapy material. The most widely used product, Proroot white $MTA^{(R)}$ has a major drawback that it causes tooth discoloration. This study assessed discoloration of crown when various MTA-based materials were placed in the coronal aspect of the root canal. Seventy-five single-rooted, unrestored premolar teeth were selected. The teeth were randomly assigned to four experimental groups, each of $Biodentine^{(R)}$, Proroot $wMTA^{(R)}$, $Endocem^{(R)}$, $RetroMTA^{(R)}$ and one negative control groups. Color measurements were utilized by the Commission International de I'Eclairage's L*a*b* system with spectrophotometer. The color was assessed eight times : initial, 1 day, 1 week, 2 weeks, 4 weeks, 8 weeks, 12 weeks, and 16 weeks after the placement. Statistical analysis was performed using the 2-way repeated analysis of variance and Bonferroni's method with p < 0.05. Proroot $wMTA^{(R)}$ induced significant decreases in $L^*$ values during experiment period. Tooth samples from the $Endocem^{(R)}$ group presented indistinct grayish color changes. The $Biodentine^{(R)}$ and $RetroMTA^{(R)}$ showed color stability. Consequently, while Proroot $wMTA^{(R)}$ and $Endocem^{(R)}$ that contain bismuth oxide as a radiopacifier showed tooth discoloration, displayed no sign of discoloration $Biodentine^{(R)}$ and $RetroMTA^{(R)}$ that contain zirconium oxide as a radiopacifier.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the influence of root resection and retrograde cavity preparation methods on the apical leakage in endodontic surgery. To investigate the effect of various root resection and retrograde cavity preparation methods on the apical leakage, 71 roots of extracted human maxillary anterior teeth and 44 mesiobuccal roots of extracted human maxillary first molars were used. Root canals of the all the specimens were prepared with step-back technique and filled with gutta-percha by lateral condensation method. Three millimeters of each root was resected at a 45 degree angle or perpendicular to the long axis of the tooth according to the groups. Retrograde cavities were prepared with ultrasonic instruments or a slow-speed round bur, and occlusal access cavities were filled with zinc oxide eugenol cement. Three coats of clear nail polish were placed on the lateral and coronal surfaces of the specimens except the apical cut one millimeter. All the specimens were immerged in 2% methylene blue solution for 7 days in an incubator at $37^{\circ}C$. The teeth were dissolved in 14 ml of 35% nitric acid solution and the dye present within the root canal system was returned to solution. The leakage of dye was quantitatively measured via spectrophotometric method. The obtained data were analysed statistically using two-way ANOVA and Duncans Multiple Range Test. The results were as follows: 1. No statistically significant difference was observed between ultrasonic retrograde cavity preparation method and slow-speed round bur technique, without apical bevel (p>0.05). 2. Ultrasonic retrograde preparation method showed significantly less apical leakage than slow-speed round bur technique, with bevel (p<0.0001). 3. No statistically significant difference was found between beveled resected root surface and non-beveled resected root surface, with ultrasonic technique (p>0.05). 4. Non-beveled resected root surface showed significantly less apical leakage than beveled resected root surface, with slow-speed round bur technique (p<0.0001). 5. No statistically significant difference in apical leakage was found between the group of retrograde cavity prepared parallel to the long axis of the tooth and the group of one prepared perpendicular to the long axis of the tooth (p>0.05). 6. Regarding isthmus preparation, ultrasonic retrograde preparation method showed significantly less apical leakage than slow-speed round bur technique, in the mesiobuccal root of maxillary molar, without bevel (p<0.0001).
The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of light irradiation over self-priming adhesive on dentin bonding. After acid etching the exposed dentin, a self-priming adhesive (Prime&Bond$^{\circledR}$NT dental adhesive system Dentsply DeTrey, GmbH, Konstanz, Germany) was applied and light irradiation was done for 20 sec with regular intensity (600 mW/$\textrm{cm}^2$) in group I and for 3 sec with ultra-high intensity (1930 mW/$\textrm{cm}^2$) in group III. No light irradiation was done over self-priming adhesive in groups II and IV. Composite resin was added on the self-priming adhesive and irradiated for 40 sec with regular intensity (600 mW/$\textrm{cm}^2$) in groups I and II and for 3 sec with ultra-high intensity (1930 mW/$\textrm{cm}^2$) in groups III and IV. To see the effect of light curing time on dentin bonding, another 3 group specimens were prepared. Without light-irradiation over self-priming adhesive, added composite resin was irradiated for 3, 6, or 12 sec with ultra-high intensity light. After bonded specimens were stored in 37$^{\circ}C$ distilled water for 24 hours, shear bond strength were measured using a universal testing machine (4202, Instron, Instron Co., U.S.A.) and fractured surfaces were examined under a stereomicroscope (SZ-PT Olympus, Japan). Statistical analysis were done with one-way, two-way ANOVA and chi-square test. The results were as follows : 1. The shear bond strengths from the groups irradiated over self-priming adhesive were significantly higher than those from the groups without irradiation (p<0.05). 2. There was no significant shear bond strength difference between regular intensity light irradiation groups and ultra-high intensity ones (p>0.05). 3. There was no significant shear bond strength difference among various irradiation time groups with ultra-high intensity ones (p>0.05). 4. In stereomicroscopic examination of fractured surfaces, adhesive-cohesive mixed failure mode was mostly seen in all groups, and there was no significant difference in failure mode among groups (p>0.05).
Apical sealing is essential for the success of surgical endodontic treatment. Root-end cavity is apt to be contaminated with moisture or blood, and is not always easy to be dried completely. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the influence of dry methods of retrocavity on the apical seal in endodontic surgery. Apical seal was investigated through the evaluation of apical leakage and adaptation of filling material over the cavity wall. To investigate the influence of various dry methods on the apical leakage, 125 palatal roots of extracted human maxillary molar teeth were used. The clinical crown of each tooth was removed at 10 mm from the root apex using a slow-speed diamond saw and water spray. Root canals of the all the specimens were prepared with step-back technique and filled with gutta-percha by lateral condensation method. After removing of the coronal 2 mm of filling material, the access cavities were closed with Cavit$^{(R)}$. Two coats of nail polish were applied to the external surface of each root. Apical three millimeters of each root was resected perpendicular to the long axis of the root with a diamond saw. Class I retrograde cavities were prepared with ultrasonic instruments. Retrocavities were washed with physiologic saline solution and dried with various methods or contaminated with human blood. Retrocavities were filled either with IRM, Super EBA or composite resin. All the specimens were immersed in 2% methylene blue solution for 7 days in an incubator at $37^{\circ}C$. The teeth were dissolved in 14 ml of 35% nitric acid solution and the dye present within the root canal system was returned to solution. The leakage of dye was quantitatively measured via spectrophotometric method. The obtained data were analysed statistically using one-way ANOVA and Duncan's Multiple Range Test. To evaluate the influence of various dry methods on the adaptation of filling material over the cavity wall, 12 palatal roots of extracted human maxillary molar teeth were used. After all the roots were prepared and filled, and retrograde cavities were made and filled as above, roots were sectioned longitudinally. Filling-dentin interface of cut surfaces were examined by scanning electron microscope. The results were as follows: 1. Cavities dried with paper point or compressed air showed less leakage than those dried with cotton pellet in Super EBA filled cavity (p<0.05). However, there was no difference between paper point- and compressed air-dried cavities. 2. When cavities were dried with compressed air, dentin-bonded composite resin-filled cavities showed less apical leakage than IRM- or Super EBA-filled ones (p<0.05). 3. Regardless of the filling material, cavities contaminated with human blood showed significantly more apical leakage than those dried with compressed air after saline irrigation (p<0.05). 4. Outer half of the cavity showed larger dentin-filling interface gap than inner half did when cavities were filled with IRM or Super EBA. 5. In all the filling material groups, cavities contaminated with blood or dried with cotton pellets only showed larger defects at the base of the cavity than ones dried with paper points or compressed air.
