In general cases, compared with glass electrode, FET type electrolyte sensors have many advantages. But the drift, memory effect and the poor reproducibility of the FET type electrolyte sensor cause the decrease of the reliability in the measurement system. To improve the reliability, an ion-measuring system using FET type electrolyte sensor array with 8 sensors has been developed. Developed system employed the electronic switchs to connect a signal detecting circuit with 8 sensor array and the system can measure ion concentration of 4 different type electrolyte($H^+$, $Na^+$, $K^+$, $Ca^{2+}$). The signal processing algorithm with insertion sorting method was adopted to enhance the reliability. We measured 3 different ion($H^+$, $Na^+$, $K^+$) to evaluate the performance of developed system. The results show that the designed signal processing algorithm can reduce the error range in comparison with a simple arithmetic mean and the developed system has a good reliability over the previous single channel sensor system.
This research was conducted to investigate the influence of post-planting fertilizer concentrations on the growth of seedlings and changes of nutrient concentrations of media in tomato seedling production through sub-irrigation. Two root media such as peat moss (grade of 0 to 6 mm, PM06) plus perlite (grade of 1 to 2 mm (PE2)(7:3, v/v) and peat moss (grade of 5 to 15 mm, PM515) plus PE2 (7:3, v/v) were formulated and filled into 72-cell plug trays. After seeds of 'Dotaerang Dia' tomato were sown and germinated at $28^{\circ}C$, the trays were moved to greenhouse and seedlings were raised 35 days. When the cotyledons were emerged, post-planting fertilizers of 13-2-13, 15-0-15 and 20-9-20 ($N-P_2O_5-K_2O$) were applied in a sequence. The fertilizer concentrations based on N in each plug stage were differed with $25mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$ in three treatments. The fertilizer solutions were supplied when the weight of plug trays decreased to 40 to 50% compared to container capacity. The root media were collected in 1, 2, 4, and 5 weeks after sowing and were divided into top, middle, and bottom parts, then were analysed for pH, EC and macro-nutrient concentrations. The seedling growth was investigated 5 weeks after sowing. The pH and EC in PM06+PE2 was higher than those of PM515+PE2. The bottom and mid-part had higher pH and lower EC compared to upper part in each medium. The differences of EC between upper and bottom parts were around 2 times in each medium. The $NH_4-N$ and K concentrations in program 3 of PM06+PE2 showed the highest concentrations among all treatments. The $NO_3-N$ concentrations in PM06+PE2 increased gradually and this rising tendency become severe as post-planting fertilizer concentrations were elevated. The seedling growth in terms of fresh and dry weights was the highest in the treatment of program 2 in PM06+PE2 among all treatments tested. Above results indicate that the gradual increases of fertilizer concentrations from 25 to $125mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$ in plug stages 2, 3, and 4 plug stages are desirable for
In these studies, semibatch emulsion copolymerization of n-butyl acrylate (n-BA) as adhesive component and methyl metacrylate (MMA) as coagulant component was carried out in order to investigate the role of surfactant in aqueous phase for polymer cement. It was found that the particle size and concentration of final polymer are affected by surfactant type used. The effect of nonionic surfactants was shown in the decrease of polymer emulsion concentration and small emulsion particle in order of LE-50, NP-50 > CE-50, Tween 20 > TX-405 > Brij 35. In LE and NP (n=7-50) as nonionic surfactant, it could be obtained the stable polymer emulsion of 40% in aqueous phase with average particle size of 250-320 nm using over n=30. On the other hand, the effect of surfactant type in initial reactor charge was shown that when SDS as ionic surfactant was used, the polymer emulsion concentration was constant irrespective of the amount used, whereas CTAB as cationic surfactant and HN-100 as reactive surfactant were shown a tendency to the decrease of that. The effect surfactant type on final polymer particle size was shown in decrease by the order of SDS > CTAB > HN-100.

In this study, we employed anionic, cationic, and nonionic surfactants for the hydrophilization of porous substrates used in the fabrication of pore-filling membranes. We investigated the extent of hydrophilization based on the type of surfactant, its concentration, and immersion time. Furthermore, we used the hydrophilized substrates to produce pore-filling anion exchange membranes and compared their ion conductivity to determine the optimal hydrophilization conditions. For the ionic surfactants used in this study, we observed that hydrophilization progressed rapidly from the beginning of immersion when the applied concentration was 3.0 wt%, compared to lower concentrations (0.05, 0.5, and 1.0 wt%). In contrast, for the relatively larger molecular weight non-ionic surfactants, smooth hydrophilization was not observed. There was no apparent correlation between the degree of hydrophilization and the ion conductivity of the anion exchange membrane. This discrepancy suggests that an excessive hydrophilization process during the treatment of porous substrates leads to excessive adsorption of the surfactant on the sparse surfaces of the porous substrate, resulting in a significant reduction in porosity and subsequently decreasing the content of polymer electrolyte capable of ion exchange, thereby greatly increasing the electrical resistance of the membrane.
In order to synthesize polymer particle containing inorganic material, styrene and nbutylmetacrylate were copolymerized with alumina by dispersion polymerization. The ratio in weight of styrene to n-butyl methacrylate was 3:1. Poly(N-vinyl pyrrolidon) and 2,2'-azobis(isobutyronitrile) were added as stabilizer and as initiator, respectively. The change of particle size was investigated with concentration of initiator, the type of medium, the mixed solubility parameter (${\delta}_{mix}$) of medium, and coupling agent. The enhancement in concentration of initiator resulted in slight increase of particle size. The increase of polarizability in medium also yielded the increase of particle size. In case of changing the ratio of isopropanol to distilled water, we could find relationship of $[{\delta}_{mix}]^{-4.01}\;{\propto}$ particle size and $[{\delta}_{mix}]^{-0.83}\;{\propto}$ particle size distribution(PSD). The type and the concentration of coupling agent showed no effect on the particle size and PSD.

In this study, ten different bio-adsorbents were prepared by immobilization of vegetable tannins such as mimosa(Catechol Tannin) and chestnut(Pyrogallol Tannin) on the collagen matrix which was derived from during leather manufacturing processing. Removal efficiency of Cu(II), Cd(II), Zn(II), Pb(II), Cr(III) by each bio-adsorbent in synthetic wastewater was evaluated by a laboratory-scale batch reactor at different reaction conditions. When mimosa was used as a vegetable tannin, the penetration efficiency of mimosa into the inner bundle of fiber depended on the dose of the naphthalene condensated penetrant; 3% ${\geq}$ 1.5% > 0%. For all bio-adsorbents, removal of heavy metal ions was not observed below pH 3.0 but was rapidly increased between pH 3.0 and 6.0, showing near complete removal of all heavy metal ions except Zn(II) above pH 6.0. Removal of Cr(III) was quite similar for all bio-adsorbents while removal of Cu(II), Zn(II) and Pb(II) was higher by bio-adsorbents immobilized with chestnut than that by mimosa. Adsorption of Pb(II) and Cu(II) by S10 bio-adsorbent was little affected by the presence of monovalent and divalent electrolytes as well as variation of 1000 times ionic concentration with $NaNO_3$.

pH value of sampled fogwater at source regions (above highway and road) in Yongin sites showed the lowest value and was increased after passing the forest stands. Changes of ion concentrations through the forest stands showed a lowering tendency at sampling sites. The fogwater passing the forest stands (Quercus mangolica and Pinus rigida) surrendered acid pollutants to crown and stem from the atmosphere. It was concluded that environmental moisture in the atmosphere is acidified in fogwater. The influence was extended to the pure zone, and the frequency of acid rain has increased. The forests are assumed to remove air pollutants because ion concentrations in fogwater decreased after passing the forests. The fogwater which functions as a local sink for pollutants (H$_2$SO$_4$, HNO$_3$, etc.) falling on plant surfaces is considered to effectively remove acid pollutants. But if the deposition of pollutants exceeds the capacity of purification, it would damage the forest ecosystem. Further investigation is necessary to identify tree species tolerant to acid pollutants.
The comparison of the chemical properties of semen of black porgy Acanthopagrus schlegelii long-term acclimated reared in freshwater (BFW) and seawater (BSW) with sperm activity of salinity and ion composition. The chemical properties of seminal plasma on BFW of the factors that most there was not significant difference in the BSW. However, osmolality in seminal plasma of BFW and BSW was $307.0{\pm}4.6$ and $337.3{\pm}10.1$ mOsm/kg, respectively, where BFW showed significant lower concentration in contrast to BSW. Salinity effect on sperm motility of BFW and BSW in 0 psu solution, no sperm motility was observed, whereas in 10 psu solution, both BFW and BSW sperms showed low motility and short time post sperm activation. However, diluted in 20 and 32 psu solutions, highest motility and long time post sperm activation were observed in BFW and BSW sperm. SAI of BFW and BSW varied in depend on the osmolality regardless of ion kind and it showed the highest value in the similar osmolality of artificial seawater (956 mOsm/kg). Accordingly, even in sperm released from BFW, factors initiating sperm motility are determined by osmolality.

The concrete structure's durability and integrity is reduced owing to various deterioration phenomena. Therefore, it is important to prevent the deterioration phenomena. This study inquired into the various experimental results of specimens with different dilution concentration and impregnation time by the each solution to present the economic and efficient using method of the inorganic surface penetration agents. As a results, the reasonable dilution concentration and impregnation time of colloidal silica solutions are 15% and 5 minute and for the sodium alumina silicate solutions are 17% and 10 second.
This paper presents an environment-friendly sand cementation method by precipitating calcium carbonate using plant extracts. The plant extracts contain urease like $Sporosarcina$$pasteurii$, which can decompose urea into carbonate ion and ammonium ion. It can cause cementation within sand particles where carbonate ions decomposed from urea combine with calcium ions dissolved from calcium chloride or calcium hydroxide to form calcium carbonate. Plant extracts, urea and calcium chloride or calcium hydroxide were blended and then mixed with Nakdong River sand. The mixed sand was compacted into a cylindrical specimen and cured for 3 days at room temperature ($18^{\circ}C$). Unconfined compression test, SEM and XRD analyses were carried out to evaluate three levels of urea concentration and two different calcium sources. As urea concentration increased, the unconfined compressive strength increased up to 10 times those without plant extracts because calcium carbonate precipitated more, regardless of calcium source. It was also found that the strength of specimen using calcium chloride was higher than that of specimen using calcium hydroxide.
